3.75 stars as of now. Giving reviews for electronic stores can be tricky. You have to wait it out, see how long the product you have purchased lasts and see if it lives up to the hype the employee gave it, over time. You need to see how the store responds if there is an issue, etc. You do not want to rate too highly and then run into a problem and get 1 star service suddenly. Sure, a store can 1. sell a computer fine, but can you 2. stand behind it in case there is a problem? Microcenter can do the first one fine and dandy and HOPEFULLY I will never have to see how they respond to that second part as I hope the product they sold me is solid and lives up to the hype well into 2015 and beyond. The person who helped me knew the laptops he told me about. After leaving Best Buy in Fship Heights disgusted at the lack of knowledge, this was very refreshing. I would even say I got too much information. Never a bad thing. These guys know their computers! I just wish I could get windows 7 on my new lap top as I hate windows 8 and am not sure if the reason they gave me for not being able to get a lap top with windows 7 is legit or not. Just the same, a solid choice, SO FAR and at the least, better than best buy at this point in time. Got a great out of box deal on a lap top for just over 400 dollars: 1 tb storage, 8 gb memory, etc. Not too shabby. We will see how solid this is in the long run. This is somewhat close to Twinbrook metro, which in itself is not a nice metro stop, just surrounded by a long strip mall and busy roads. But we are coming to this metro stop for electronics, right? Just the same, if you are from DC, navigating around this part of Rockville and on your way to Microcenter will be a little difficult, so print out a map or research google maps or download a citymaps app. It should be a ten minute walk, make sure you go down Halpine in the right direction, which was my mistake. read more

I needed a RAM for my desktop, urgently. Simple, right? I went to Micro Center today, during rush hour, to grab a desktop RAM because I needed it that bad. I checked the times and arrived around when the store opened. I informed the employee of my exact computer make and model. He supposedly locked it up and went to grab a product. I asked if there were any other chocies, he said no. Nevertheless, I made the purchase and proceed to walk back to the metro. Seemed like a simple, easy, purchase. But what pissed me off the most and has me now extremely upset, is that I came all the way from Burtonsville, MD on the metro-rail. The store is located in Rockville. Even by car its a distance. During rush hour the cost of fare is higher on metro, but I needed to get this work done asap. Then I rode the train all the way back. I didnt arrive home unitl after 1:45pm. The trip alone was exhausting. Just to immediately get home and find out the the employee gave me the WRONG MEMORY RAM!! A Completely INCORRECT PRODUCT!!... This is sooooo insulting to my time, money, and patience How terrible of a service can that be!.. Who's going to compensate me for my wasted time, or the cost of my travel.. Now I have to go back there to return this stupid product.. How about hiring some knowledgeable employees who will take the time to make sure they're giving people the correct product for something so crucial!. Why would I shop here again? I purchased a 2014 Macbook Air a year ago. I paid the price they wanted for the '14, yet I started having a few problems with it. Such as loading documents on to my schools turn it in website, along with an app not updating. I looked under the computer, and saw that the product date was 2013. I went back, and told them about my issue, and that I want to return the computer, or at least get a portion of my money back. It had been past the return date, and did not let it slide. I told the manager they are false advertising, and he told me it's standard business practice. He said and I quote, " when you go buy a new car or some clothes, don't the people tell you it's a 2014 when it is really a 2013." I said no. After weeks of going back and arguring, and dealing with the stupid non-certified techs they have (which by the way ignored me, even though I was waiting patiently for a good 20min until the lady next to me pointed me out). They sent my laptop to apple and told me it had no issues. After arguing again, they gave me a new one. Now the power button is mal-functioning. Unless you are on the market for a cheap electronic device, or like other non electronic products such as a laptop case, or ink. I would not advise anyone to shop at that location. If you are a man, you will receive HONEST and excellent customer service. If you are a woman; ESPECIALLY a woman of color, DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE. My initial intention was to stop at Best Buy in Tenleytown, but someone recommended this place. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The men have a mysogynistic attitude toward women. If you purchase a refurbished product, they will sell you a computer with a dead battery. Then you have to return, get a new battery, and then you can't use the computer because the battery resets your settings and tells you that your antivirus product and Windows 7 kit is "defective". Then, these potbellied goons expect you to keep returning in a futile attempt to rectify the problem by purchasing more of their crappy defective products. Well, I have four advanced degrees, and an IQ of 165 and am extremely adept with computers, and can probably program anything they have in their store. I visited the store for the first time on 1/19/13 and what a disappointment! I should known this would be the case when the website would not allow me to make a purchase and pay for shipping with a gift card online. The store is located in a tiny strip mall and shares a building entrance with TJ MAXX. The cashier seemed inattentive when I told him I was using a debit instead of credit card. The debit card would not work at their registers so I had to use a credit card anyway. ( The clerk didn't seem to understand that I wanted to use up the balance on the gift card.) I purchase several items and was asked if I wanted a bag?! I then got stopped at the door by the annoying store security for the receipt check. These rent-a-cops never check your receipt against your merchandise. I could not wait to get out of this place. I was expecting the store to be at least as organized as CompUSA used to be. I still can't believe my first visit to Micro Center was last week. From my experience: Micro Center rules. They had the gear I needed at a reasonable price. Two other computer retailers I visited not only didn't carry the item, but two staff told me that no such hardware existed. "They don't make those anymore," I was told. I love that Micro Center has internet terminals throughout the store. Research you product and/or check for a cheaper price. Micro Center has nothing to hide, and to me that's an honest dealer. I found the staff knowledgeable and helpful. They were not trying to sell me stuff that I don't want/need. The store gets an easy 5 *'s for selection alone. The staff get's 5 *'s too. And after shopping the Rockville store, Trader Joe's is just across the parking lot. BONUS. read more

I brought my laptop to the Micro Center service department for a BIOS repair. They charged me an $80 diagnostic fee, but ultimately could not fix the issue and provided no meaningful guidance or solution. What was most disappointing is that they refused to refund the diagnostic fee despite the fact that no repair was performed and no value was delivered. I understand that diagnostics sometimes come with a fee, but customers should at least receive competent troubleshooting or a clear path forward. Instead, I left with the same problem and $80 lost. This experience was extremely frustrating and left me with the impression that their service center prioritizes fees over actually helping customers. I cannot recommend their repair services based on this experience. read more

Prices are THE SAME AS AMAZON. Sometimes they are better! They have top of the line and cheapo too. The return policy is good too. Sometimes is crowded so expect to wait in line. That means that their prices are good!!!! The computer cable selection could be a bit better, like sata power splitter or 6" sata cables, or mini ITX cases for HTPCs... but then again is a great place. I just build a new computer HTPC all the parts I got from Micro Center except 2 because they didn't have them; small sata cables and a Silverstone HTPC case. All the prices were better than AMAZON. The warranties are bogus. My wife bought me a computer with a warranty. It was my understanding that the warranty began when the Toshiba warranty ended. Well, yesterday, I went into Microcenter for service, and they told me that their warranty overlaps or supercedes the Toshiba warranty, so that the the three year warranty I purchased began when I purchased the computer, not when the Toshiba warranty ended. Well, my wife also bought an Asus computer from the same Microcenter Rockville Store, with the same warranty. When she took her computer in for service, they told her the warranty did not begin until the Asus warranty ended. I will not buy from Microcenter every again. read more

This place is the best computer store yet, no doubt. I bought a AMD processor but started to have second thoughts and decided on an Intel processor. I was on vacation and couldn't get back until after the return period. I walked in expecting the worst, big mistake. I walked up to the return clerk and told him my situation. He was more than happy to give me credit towards the new processor. Bad customer service? Rethink that. Rockville Micro Center Was a Complete Disaster I bought a HP PC at the Rockville Micro Center and it's been a total nightmare. It takes forever just to boot up, you can't open any programs, and the search feature doesn't work at all. I wasted hours trying to get it to work--and it still does nothing. What a gigantic waste of time and money. I regret this purchase and can't believe I paid for something that doesn't function. You have to click like 5 times for an object to open. Have been trying to buy a graphics card here for months and it's been impossible. Every time I go in to ask the employees about it they roll their eyes at me and act like they've never seen a graphics card in their life. Clearly the system they are using to sell them is not working. Going through the Facebook marketplace you can see all the purchase with micro center tags or receipts and people selling for double MSRP. Why do they keep selling to scalpers freely without limits? Wonderful electronics store. This store tends to sell both new and older models of all types of electronics equipment. They usually are able to offer very competitive prices on older models and average pricing for the new stuff. The employees working in this store are pretty knowledgable and willing to help. They may even offer you alternative solutions to any computer issues you may be trying to solve. The selection of gadgets that they have in stock is impressive. read more

For local computer shop, What you expect? This place is the best place in Rockville area for many reason. they have most computer accessories and computer part upto very close high end class parts. But It takes about 2month for really high end new product. So, If you liked save money or you like have hot released item, you have to order from internet market. read more

I usually build my own PCs and I've never had a problem with one of their recommendations or with one of their products. Kristopher Washington should be fired. Absolute terrible attitude and doesn't work with the customer at all. Was told my corporate microcenter to go in and exchange my video card for a new one.
