The two times I've come to MicroCenter, I seem to find two faults with their store. The first is that it's very hard to get a sales associate to help you because they always seem to be hard to find and helping other people. The second though, the dealbreaker, is that I always end up finding the product for waaay cheaper online. For example, I just bought a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit upgrade pack for system builders from them. $130. I check on Newegg when I get home, and it's $100 with free shipping. So really don't go here unless you have to have it that same day, which has been my problem. Otherwise, stick with buying it online. If you do need it the same day, though, this is the best computer parts store I've found in Cincinnati. read more

I'm not a tech savvy individual which is why I like Micro Center so much. The store was crowded, but there were plenty of reps to help track down the various products that I was there to see. Reps were pleasant and really went out of their way to provide helpful information and to show me where everything was. And what's extraordinary, is that they were able to do it without being condescending or talking in "geek speak." I understood what they were talking about. Also - they provided practical advice about the many many options - which one were good deals, which ones were appropriate for what I was going to use the products for. They knew the products without reading the info card or packaging - like most tech stores these days. I really felt comfortable and will definitely return. read more

I have purchased a few items at this store. One computers battery blew up. I'm lucky no one was hurt from this. Another product I purchased were headphones for gaming and they quit working within 8 weeks of purchasing them. When I called to see if they would exchange them they told me there was nothing they could do. Terrible customer service. read more

I have been here a couple of times and have been very happy about my experience. The price was very good and I bought a laptop. I talked with two salesmen that were very helpful but the downside is I had to be assertive to get their help. Through about seven employees walking around appearing to do nothing and when I asked for help they didn't seem to have time, so I went found the manager and got help immediately. The reason I didn't give them a bad review is I purchased a good product at a very good price and when I did talk to somebody they were courteous and knowledgeable. Finally, when I pointed out the problem to the manager he was courteous and helpful and got me assistance immediately. If you go in there and can't seem to get any help, don't be shy, I think it's worth the effort. Since I originally started this review (and apparently forgot to post it) I've purchased speakers, and then another time a hope pc and each time I've had the same experience. read more

There were some miscommunications between the staff there; but at the end of the day; all I really care about is if they do a good job on my computer; which they did. He even gave me $30 off due to not having told me the parts would be refurbished. read more

My husband and I visited this Micro Center to build a new gaming computer, but we were a bit rusty since we haven't bought computer parts in about 4 years. We tried to get help from an associate, but the first one we found wouldn't explain things on a level we could follow and we felt even more lost. Luckily, we found Joe M. and he was exactly who we needed! He helped us pick out the internal parts, using language we could understand and not just pushing us to the most expensive items (like the first associate). Unfortunately he was a new employee and couldn't get commission for our purchases, though he absolutely deserved it for all his assistance! read more

I shop at Micro center every few months for my office supply. Their prices are not the cheapest in Cincinnati, but the quality of their products are making me visit the store once in while. The guys in the store are very helpful and always answered my questions. For me, a good service worth a lot and that's what matters. read more

I've bought several things over the years from here never felt belittled for my ignorance of technical knowledge.

They might have great products, but it would be better if they stood behind them. My laptop was demoed to me and dropped appx. 12" onto the display shelf to show durability. It was not needed because I baby my laptop. I also bought the $80 coverage that in Columbus was explained to me as the "gravy" coverage.. i.e. if I spill gravy on it, I get a new computer, no questions asked. So.... the screen cracked two days later sitting in an empty house with a 9.6lb kitten being the only living being here. I returned it and the MANGER said, screens are not covered. So if I go home and spill gravy on it and return it, does that work? Then, she said the kitten could have sat on it. Only it was stored on its side (hence I paid out the @ss for an SSD). She said, well, the kitten could have Ieaned on it, that is all the pressure it might take. SERIOUSLY?????? Want to pay for a Porsche, make sure the dealership will stand by their car and honor their word. SHAME ON YOU MICROCENTER. read more

Back in the days when Comp-USA still competed with Micro Center, Micro Center was a much better store to do business with, these days it is worse than Best Buy. As others have mentioned, you are far better off sneaking in and finding what you need yourself. Hopefully, you are technically literate, as the people they hire are for the most part not. In other words, read Consumer Reports, etc. before you ever set foot inside, and buying a "refurbished" item will most likely get you an item that works as well as a new item (and may even have the manual), something missing from the "new" Lenovo desktop I purchased there. Lots of sales people hiding in plain sight, none at the check out. read more

I am absolutely shocked by the terrible service in the tech department. We have purchased 3 MacBooks from this location and haven't had an issue with the sales team. The tech department is awful! We went in last week because we purchased a MacBook in June as a graduation gift for our daughter. The tech on duty was rude and told my husband that they had to leave it there for 5 days in order to replace the battery. He explained why that wouldn't work and asked for a solution. He guy was ridiculously rude. They were so taken back by him that we decided to reschedule another appointment for this week, today. I chatted online first to explain that she is in school and can't leave it for 5 days. We aren't just rolling in off the street for service. We bought it there. The chat guy was nice (from Columbus) and said tech support would call right away. Of course they didn't. I called before leaving the house and the man in tech support was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I was very kind and explained that we just purchased the computer and she cannot be without it. I asked what they can do in this situation. He replied and said "LEAVE IT HERE!" I thought maybe he's having a horribly bad day so I patiently explained that Apple is closed so this is our only option. We are regular customers and while I understand they need to order the battery, since we bought it there 2 months ago, it seems reasonable for them to order the battery and then let us bring it in for repair. His reply? "YOU CAN LEAVE IT HERE!" It almost seemed like a joke. I told him that I was shocked by his response and how he was treating a customer. I was explaining our situation and hoping for his assistance toward resolution. He just sat there. I also told him that I will never shop there again. I wasn't angry or yelling but I was serious. I was totally shocked. He just sat there. Unbelievable. I won't shop there again. It isn't work the risk of having to potentially deal with the tech team. read more

BUYER BEWARE! "Priority Care" sucks with Apple computers and Micro Center pretends to know Apple but they don't! Micro Center Mall has NO business selling Apple computers! They tell people you'll get the same service you'd get from APPLE. That is a blatant LIE! You're better off calling a friend who has an Apple and get their help than calling Priority Care! Their tech support does NOT know their way around an Apple! You'll get the run-around until one day they say "well, we can't help you on this problem, you need to call Apple support" Heres the #". I made an online purchase for a discontinued 23" monitor. When I got to the store either it was no longer there or they could not locate it. They gave me a larger monitor, which was 24" with better specs than the one I had purchased, for the same price. I didn't have to say a thing, they just brought it out. This is my idea of customer service. In fact I had been looking at this same model but didn't want to fork out the extra dough. read more

I started with microcenter years ago in Indianapolis. Coming to Cincinnati was a surprise as the store was larger, yet cluttered. I find the pricing to be pretty fair and only slightly higher than online, often lower! Guess what? They even have Apple at discounted prices. In the last 5 years I've bought 7 computers here. Always had knowledgable service and never a hassle on a return, or warranty issue. They actually have a decent selection of cameras as well, plus more accessories than Best Buy by far! They carry a ton of Apple stuff with reps that actually know Apple. I go here first for quality computer stuff and knowledgable sales staff. read more

I work for a non profit and went to Micro Center to purchase 7 new computers to replace our old "XP" ones. We already knew which computer we wanted and finding someone to help us wasn't a problem. The problem occurred when we got to the checkout. We stood at the register for about 10 minutes while they worked on our tax exempt paperwork. Then, another 10 minutes when they called to get our check approved, which was denied after waiting for so long. The cashier was not allowed to tell us why the check was denied, but just tell us sorry and good bye. Being the person who does the accounting, I know our check is good. Heck, give me access to the internet and I'll pull up our account and show you. But to wait that long only to get our check denied. Really? You must not want our business too bad. I will never go back and do not recommend anyone that wants to write a check go here. read more

I just want everyone reading this to know that if I could, Microcenter would be receiving ZERO stars. The customer service at Microcenter is absolute atrocious. At one point I went into the store and purchased ~$3600 USD from the store. The sales associates were not very helpful. They offered several deals in which I wanted to partake in but they failed to execute on. They offered items such as a free motherboard with the purchase of an AMD cpu. After selecting the cpu within my price budget the returned to inform me that due to stocking issues they would be unable to fulfill that deal unless I spent another $150 on a much more expensive processor. I proceeded to select a case, and after I picked on of the display models they came back to me to say that they no longer had any nor could they give me the one on display. I eventually decided on a tower much too small for my taste as it would the only one I personally liked. I wanted LED's inside the computer, and the associate informed me that I would have to purchase my own as the case did not come with anything. This would not be a concern if I didn't have to remove two LED fans that were inside the case when I began to build this PC. About a month or two after the purchase and the building of the two PC's that I had acquired parts for that day, I encountered another problem. My RAM speeds were not nearly as fast as advertised. After researching the problem I discovered that there is a list of proprietary RAM that was included with the motherboard, and the RAM that the associate had sold me was no on that list. A final problem in which I would like to bring to attention is their very poor on call customer service. Just recently I had to call the store from out of state( where I had been displaced because of a Family emergency). The graphics cards I bought was very high end (`$570) and much to my dismay was failing to compete with lower end cards. I caught this problem and had called an associate to see about fixing the problem. I felt assured as the extra $70 I paid for the warranty covered malfunction and gave me the opportunity to pay the difference towards another card of my choice. Unfortunately you can never feel assured at Microcenter. I called three times over the course of 8 hours. The first time the associate said that she would have a manager call me back in 45 minutes to an hour. The second, which I called several hours later, did nothing in order to help me other than assure I would get a call. The third call, an associate named Debra answered. She denied allowing me to speak to a manager immediately, questioned if I was the actual purchaser of the product and then proceeded to hang up on me. I eventually called a 4th time not long before the closing of the store where I finally got in touch with a manager. The manager did not seem to understand the problem and said that I would have to pay for everything other than the exchange out of my own pocket(which I understand and would not have a problem doing as my circumstance was not due to them), but the manager proceeded to be impolite and informed me my only ways of paying would be through a physical check. A few minutes later I told me that a physical check would actually not be a possibility. I then asked what would the possibility of receiving a refund. My only opportunity would have been to receive the price I paid for the card on a gift card only usable at Microcenter. At this point I politely thanked the manager and hung up. Not worth my time. I very much question the knowledge of the associates at Microcenter. I do not know many things, but I know I have several CompTia certifications which certify me to work in the IT sector in Computers, Networking and Security. I typically try to just act normal and allow the associate to do their job in recommending parts and such but I have had so many mismatched parts in my times at Microcenter that I strongly question the employees. I do not believe the majority of them Have their A+ certification( For those of you that are unaware, the A+ is the entry level certification into the IT world) which should be a MUST for any person working with computers, even in retail. If you can not trust Microcenter to do a good job and honor their policies towards a very knowledgeable customer who spent well over Three thousand dollars in one sale alone, then how can you expect them to treat the less knowledgeable patrons fairly and ethically. read more

If you respect yourself as a consumer don't shop here! They don't put the customer first and worse, even take advantage. Three years ago on Feb. 6 I bought a Vaio laptop and also purchased a three year warranty... just in case. I was told by an associate when I bought the warranty, that "anything but a bullet through the screen would be covered by the warranty." I was given a "Protection Card" with the date 2/6/10 on the front, indicating my date of purchase. My receipt had printed on the bottom 2/6/2010 in bold print. Above the date, stated that I had indeed purchased a 3 year warranty. I felt good about my purchase and rested easy for three years. I shouldn't have. Yesterday, (2/6/2013) I took my computer into Micro Center thinking it would be an easy and simple process to get rid of some software bugs and fix a few loose keyboard pieces. I was looking forward to the pleasant, smooth process I was promised. NOT SO!! I was absolutely refused free service because apparently I had forgotten to take into consideration a little anomaly known as leap year. Due to the extra day granted by leap year, my warranty actually expired on 2/5/2013 rather than the more obvious option 2/6/2013. I have never encountered such a policy in my life! I talked to both a sales associate and then the manager. Neither felt any remorse about not accepting my warranty that I had paid extra for, not even a partial warranty or credit to go towards the fix. I was simply given a printed out sheet that showed the date 2/5/2013 as the end of my warranty date, which I tried to explain I hadn't received on the date of my original purchase. I showed them my receipt and my protection card both showing the date 2/6/2010, and asked "what would a reasonable person think?" Apparently, "reasonable" doesn't have much weight at Micro Center. I left angry, insulted, and with my malfunctioning machine. I don't expect much from retail these days, but this is a shady policy which seems both unreasonable and unfair.
