Some days, my line of work involves arriving at an office with little advance information and 12 hours on the ground to get everything technology-related up and working. As one could expect, that will sometimes lead to an "uh oh" moment and I just don't have the time to wait for UPS the next morning. For those times, Micro Center has consistently risen to the occasion by bailing me out of some tight spots, and the Sharonsville location lived up to my expectations. I found myself in Cincinnati for the first time, and only for about 12 hours. The site I arrived at was in some pretty bad shape, and I suddenly found myself in urgent need of a UPS. My brand of choice is APC's Smart-UPS line, and it was not to be found in Staples or any other store in Cincinnati itself. Thankfully, Micro Center's website allowed me to check for local store inventory, and even though it showed there was only 1 left in stock, that actually means that Micro Center *actually* has the product unlike other stores that claim that anything under 3 means none are in stock due to shrinkage (theft). I got the email shortly after placing the order online, showing that the UPS was waiting for pickup. Now - getting there from downtown Cinci isn't bad. Getting back in during rush hour with the incredible construction around Micro Center wasn't as easy. Thankfully, they had Red Bull and chips at the checkout area, so I was able to fortify myself for the drive. Friendly, helpful, and affordable. Micro Center always delivers. read more

If I could give less than a star I would. Worst service I've ever experienced. Spent over 1500$ here and they can't spend the time to do anything. Just shop on newegg or buy from Best Buy. Sold me a busted up old motherboard from then they charged me 40$ to tell me it was there fault (no refund) then they lost one of my motherboard panels said sorry it's at the store. So I drive 40 min to go there and they say they can't find it now and I have to rebuy a 40$ fan?? The service people are the least bit helpful. I'm going to Best Buy as we speak to try and find this super customizable hex back panel plate. Tl:dr sold bad motherboard charged me service fee lost one bolt then said buy a whole new fan. The manager named Zach at the Mosteller Rd location in Cincinnati, Ohio was rude and egotistical. I had a couple items I purchased before I went on orders last year that I needed to return. I was out of town on military leave on long term orders so I understood when he said it had been too long to return the items. However, he pulled up my account and saw that I had purchased the items free and clear. They were unopened even in the original micro center packaging. It was maybe a total of $40. He lied to me and said the two items were no longer in there inventory. I walked right to the aisle and snapped photos of both the items hanging on the shelf. He never even looked at my items or my photos. Just the length of time it had been and refused to help me. I had a brand new laptop on reserve with them and I was standing there to pick it up with cash in hand. I'm a student and my laptop tanked on me just this morning. All I wanted was a little help and understanding. These kids these days are ridiculous when it comes to customer service and understanding that customer retention is one of the most important parts of running a business. NOT YOUR EGO! I took my money and went to Walmart to get a new laptop. I'm never going to MicroCenter again. read more

It can be very hard to find a local store that carries any computer parts. RadioShack isn't worth a damn anymore, and the big box places just carry new products; nothing to repair or upgrade the stuff you already own. Micro Center fills that need and does a pretty good job at it. I'll fully admit that it must be hard to compete against online stores for this market, but when you need that part RIGHT NOW, thank goodness there's still a brick and mortar store you can go to. I've always been able to find what I need, and the prices are reasonable. Every once in a while they'll have a good deal on games, too. Definitely worth checking out instead of Best Buy. read more

While it's obvious the reps are paid on commission, once you start needing out with them, they will give up information freely. Of course, if you are planning to buy, play your cards right. Learn the language of geeks and once you do buy, stuck with that rep. Beyond that, microcenter cant be beat by any other computer store in Colorado. I bought my laptop using an unusual spec. (oversized Ctl button on the right side) I got no guff from the salesman and asked for his business card so I could continue to browse unaided. I found other items and was able to check out quickly. A day later, I found I didn't have a receipt in my email. I started to call the main number in Sharonville. They told me I could text the same number. I did. My question was answered faster than any time I could have spent on the phone. I had a single question and I got a desired result after that single question. PERFECT!! Later, I had a follow-on question. It was answered in minutes without further questions. If I ever have a question, I will text their main number first. I hope other businesses adopt the same level of service. Much love. read more

I've been to this location multiple times and have found that the prices here are pretty great. There is a large selection available of many different electronic items. This place is by no means glamorous or focused on design but they sell a quality product for a reasonable price. I will check back here first for future electronic purchases. read more

I had made an appointment with the micro center to get my airpods looked at. They were the closest place to me and I still drove 40 minute. When I told the guy about my airpods he seemed to be shocked and not know what he was doing. He took my airpods back for a diagnostic test and came back saying everything was fine and that he couldn't help me. I then went to another store and they said my airpods were not charged enough for anyone to run a test and once they charged they got my airpods fixed. So I don't even think they tan the test in my airpods. I will not be going back to that store. read more

Owning a company that is mainly PC-based means I've been dealing with Microcenter since their inception. They used to be the only game in town for a wide variety of parts, programs and brands. Thankfully we're living in the "heady future" where much of these items can be found much more affordable and in some cases, arrive much quicker to you, the consumer. The sales service over the years has vacillated between complete indifference to "pack of ravenous wolves" aggressive. Both have always been a turn off in my opinion, but a healthy imagination allows you to pretend you're in a stealth game and you have to sneak in, retrieve your item and get to the check out with being pounced upon by desperate sales staff or making a wrong turn and being met with the condescending eyes of a pac-man ghost. What to do if you have a strange and unquenchable fetish for standing in long lines full of grousing people and the post office or DMV is closed??? Conjure up a computer problem and take your rig in to their service department. You'll get a bicep workout carrying your Ultra-Mega X-treme Gaming PC in a line that limps along at what could only be described as a "glacial" pace. Better yet, pull up youtube and find a tutorial on installing that hard drive etc. and do it yourself at a fraction of the cost and time. You're a wonderful, radiant human being with so much to offer. Don't waste your precious life-force at this place. read more

My husband enjoys building custom computers and every time we head to Micro Center we leave very happy due to the in-store deals and the price matching they do. Our sales rep pointed him to better deals that my husband realized and he ended up saving approx. $200, not including the MIRs. read more

I fully expect to be insulted when I go computer shopping. There's something about the specialists - whether a computer geek, music store dude, gamer, audiophile - that breeds condescension. Wanting to avoid this condescension tempted me to go grab a laptop off the Wal-mart shelf. But I sucked it up and went to Microcenter on a referal. Good folks. We weren't looking for anything fancy. My wife needed a new computer to get some work done - word processing, spread sheet and a bit of web browsing. We told this to a guy and he pointed a low price model and said, Get this one. I asked why. He told me why. I can't remember why but his why seemed to make sense at the time. The price was cool. I then wandered around a bit and picked up some cables that I needed for my TV. The prices were pretty good and the selection extraordinarily broad. Maybe too broad. The store does have a cluttered vibe to it but nothing to oppressive...yet. read more

I asked a Micro Center employee a question, said he'd check on it. 15 minutes go by, I walk around the corner and he's casually talking and joking with co-workers who were just as unhelpful to other customers. Very obvious that that these sales reps are paid on commission, making false claims about laptops, guiding you to more expensive computers with worse specs. They just really do everything they can to get a percentage and it's absolutely greedy. Don't even bother having a rep help you, just look on your own and compare specs of different computers. Overall a great selection, very impressed with their stock and prices on legitimate equipment. read more

It is impossible to get a worker to help you out. We were standing in the store for over an hour looking in the same section and no employee offered to help with anything. My last few visits have been really frustrating. The mode recent visit I went in looking for a power supply for my laptop for use in a vehicle. I spend a lot of time in the car for work and don't want to use an inverter as a modified sine wave is hard on electronics and batteries. I was told such an adaptor would either blow my laptop up and or my car. Dell specifically makes a power supply for this purpose. A simple "we don't carry that item" or "you might want to contact dell" would have been the appropriate response. read more

Quite frankly, if I could give this place negative stars, I would. This store has the absolute worst customer service on the planet. The computer had been acting sluggish, so my partner and I took it to the Apple Store near us for a diagnostic. They were able to tell us we needed an upgrade on the RAM and the battery was beginning to fail. We brought the laptop to the Micro Center in July to get the extra RAM and a new battery installed, and were utterly disappointed because of communication issues and dishonesty. The RAM was installed with no problem, but the battery was another thing. They had to order the battery, and since it had to be ordered, we had to pay in advance. After we paid, they told us we would receive a call when it was in. They never did. When I called them to check on the status of the battery, they claimed they had called several times, had left several messages, then cancelled the order once they did not hear back from us. The battery was already paid for, why on earth would they assume we did not want it and cancel the work order? I was dumbfounded. Eventually we were able to get the battery installed, free-of-charge, because of the communication issues. Flash forward to last week. The new battery was not holding a charge, so we took it back to the Apple Store. There we were told that the battery was faulty, so we called the Micro Center for another one since it was under warranty. We called on a Saturday and were told we would receive a call by Tuesday about the status of the battery order. We still had not received a call by Friday, so we called them. They claimed, yet again, that they had called us repeatedly and left a voicemail. Neither my wife nor I ever received a call from them. I am completely flabbergasted by the terrible customer service here. If I can help it, I will never, EVER again shop at this store. read more

The best local place to shop for tech in my personal opinion. The staff are always helpful and never pushy. They are knowledgeable and pleasant. Their prices are fantastic and they always have great deals going on. I will always do my tech shopping here before I even consider anyplace else. Very torn on this review. While this is a great place to buy components, I had a bad experience Saturday. I took my college age son there to buy a laptop. I purposely hung back and let the sales rep assume he had a young newbie. While I certainly understand him trying to steer my son to a higher priced machine, the guy was throwing out absolute lies to try to make the sale. Very disappointing. If I were a manager there I would fire every one of them. God help anyone who goes there without some knowledge. read more

I would never take my computer to this location to get repaired. I took the computer in to repair an issue, the first time took 2 weeks and I had issues with the computer crashing every time I launched it and had stability issues. When I took it back, it took a week and nothing was fixed. Each time I waited in line for over 20 minutes and was treated like a moron when I brought it back the second time. read more

I was very excited when I saw online the Phantom 3 professional drone on sale. Being that I am disabled I normally order things for their 18 minute pickup at the front counter because getting around the stores difficult for me. In this case because it was on sale they did not allowed this to be placed in your cart online for the 18 minute pickup. They had it marked is in store only. So instead of being able to get the drone at a great price I got to watch them sell out because I would be unable to get to the back of the store and bring it up. Guess I'll have to try to see if Best Buy will price match and buy it there where they will bring it to the front counter and even take stuff out and put it in my car for me. That is the difference between a mediocre store and great customer service. read more

My wife and I went there to look for a laptop and a monitor (to be connected to a CPU that I already have). We had a very negative experience. I am not an engineer or a computer scientist. Firstly, it was very hard to get a rep to help us. Secondly, the rep who attended us had a very condescending attitude. The impression that I received was that this is a place meant only for people who are well versed with computer technology, and do not care for lesser mortals like me. Finally, I found several factual errors in the information provided to us by the rep, which we were able to spot without having any specialized knowledge, and just using common sense. He was not able to answer our questions and in fact, gave the impression that we are fools to be even asking them. Overall, not worth it at all and will never recommend. read more

I am a long time shopper of Microcenter in Cincinnati. I recently relocated to Phoenix, AZ and wanted to keep buying from the company I had liked a lot. Unfortunately, their shipping and warehouse departments are nowhere near as wonderful as their in-store staff is. I ordered a simple power supply they claimed was in stock on Tuesday morning...It's now Friday evening and I still haven't received a tracking number. They claimed it would be shipped yesterday afternoon at the VERY latest. I paid extra for overnight shipping because I wanted to almost guarantee delivery by the end of the week. With this experience, I am sad to say I probably wont be shopping at MC anymore unless I happen to be in town and buy from the physical store. read more

If it's related to computers, Micro Center probably has it! So much selection, and because of this, some of the lowest prices around! Good staff, though sometimes not everything is in perfect order and some items/areas are not the best organized and things can be confusing... but if you're tech savvy, you should be able to figure things out. The check-out is kind awkwardly set up/run, but at the same time is quick. I've done returns/exchanges easily, and without having to go through a background check. I had a hard drive crash. Took it to Micro center and they worked very hard to get the cover off (not easy as we discovered) and set me up with a new drive at a great price. Then I dropped it off to the service department and they had it done in an hour. I set up the operating system myself, but I couldn't install the drive. I've had basically three experiences with MicroCenter. At first I bought a used computer that did not work. I took it back and I got a deal on a brand new computer, which worked just fine. Recently, like almost 2 years later it stopped working. They worked with Apple to have it fixed. It was sent out and came back working perfectly in less that a week. I love this store. It is a cornucopia of computer hardware and related products! When I say cornucopia, I don't mean the curved goat's horn, I mean an inexhaustible store. I have yet to need an item that they haven't had (perhaps I should really say want, because do we really 'need' this stuff? Maybe, I don't know. Digression.)
