I was looking to sell a high-end 2019 Intel Macbook Pro in excellent condition. Their quoted price was fine - nothing to brag about. I wrapped my laptop in layers of towels surrounded by foam and air pack. The power supply was slipped into the top of the box above the packing. I was sent a message saying the corner was dented and they dropped their quote by $250. I asked for pictures and was sent a picture of what looks like a flathead screwdriver dent in the corner of the laptop. I told them to ship it back which they did without charging me. Now, could the fact that the laptop has 3 months of Apple Care left on it have anything to do with a mysterious new dent? Don't know, don't care. Now I sent them my ipad with the apple pen they are trynna play me like I am a idiot they gave me a quote of $158 originally then changed it to $80 because they claim I did not send the apple pen. Which screwed me extra because I sent the apple pen and a chord in bubble wrap with the Ipad. I received my computer 9 days ago since then I have sent 3 emails regarding issues with the computer. I have not heard anything from them. I bought a used laptop for $1,000. Not a small chunk of change. The laptop was labeled as 'excellent' condition... The laptop I received would have been acceptable if it functioned normally. The computer I received has a 1 inch crack at the bottom of the screen. I questioned the 'excellent' condition but it seemed to be ok. I shut down the laptop and the screen shows huge cracks across the screen. Since then I have heard nothing from SellYourMac. I sent photos to provide proof. The keyboard also likes to type periods (...) for no reason. The delete works 50% of the time. Most likely showing large trauma to the device. They offer a 30-day money back guarantee. This thing will be lucky to last 30 days and if it does, it will be 31. This isn't the first time I have bought from them. It was a good experience the first time but wow. I knew what I was getting into, selling a piece of electronics in perfect working solution for less than it's worth. I get it, they have to be careful because there is a profit margin in selling used equipment. I was quoted $192 for an Ipad Pro 10.5", they looked at at and said display had a "hotspot" and they could only pay $165 or I could pay $23 to have it sent back to me. I took the money although I never saw anything wrong with the display, so the transaction leaves a bad taste in my mouth and after this experience I would NEVER do this again! I'd just give to someone in my family to use until it died rather than put money in OWC's pocket. So if your considering doing this be very careful your item will get scrutiny you can't give it and you may be forced to pay to get it back or take an "adjusted quote" and who knows if it's an honest assessment or more corporate greed? Sell Your Mac Review I recently found myself needing to upgrade my personal Apple equipment. After years of service my 2012 iMac and 2013 13 inch MacBook Pro were beginning to get a little long in the truth. Upgrades and Apple's quality had gotten me many years of service and enjoyment out of both machines but the time had come. The siren call of the new 16 inch MacBook Pro coupled with Apple Card's 6% cash back offer were too strong to ignore. I configured my new Macintosh computers and placed the order. Now, what to do with my old, still working of course, machines. In the past I've sold to friends, family members, and strangers on the internet. All of these options come with risk, time, and hassle. I gathered some average prices from eBay and Facebook Marketplace to know where I should be on pricing for these Macs. I then used Apple's online trade in tool to get some pricing. The advantage to the Apple trade in is that once processed the price of the trade in just comes off your purchase. That was attractive to me, but having used my Apple Card, I had some time to pay it off. I checked out Gazelle and SellYourMac.com. The trade in for my iMac was MUCH higher through SYM and I had an added bonus trade in credit from an online contest. They are a local, family owned company with a retail storefront presence so I decided to give them a go. I took my trade in to their store. Pablo, Carlos and another associate assisted me and could not have been nicer and easier to work with. They did a cursory physical inspection of the Mac, reviewed my online quote, confirmed my contest credit and checked me in. They said after a more thorough inspection of my Mac they would process my payment and issue via PayPal. They assured me email communication would keep me in the loop during the process. Sure enough I received an email letting me know my Mac was checked in for inspection. Sellyourmac is a bogus place to do business. Do not sell them anything. They give you a higher price to get your mac. Then once you send them, they lower the price by finding little scratches. That is what happened to me. They gave me the price of $189. Once I send them my mac, they say the screen was cut and there is a large dent. Screen was not cut, there was no dent. I have photographs to prove it. Then they lowered the price by $25.0. They are shady. I will not do business again with them. I would give them minus 5 if I could. But there is no provision for it.
