After my one day coarse at micro blading academy! Loved Allee and Andrea!!
    Ashley H.

I attended the coarse in Woodland Hills in January 2018 and since then I have been able to successfully execute 4 appointments on my own and have 9 clients booked for the near future! Allee was my trainer along with Andrea and they were amazing! I had a thousand questions and they were all answered, for the type of training you receive and the value of the coarse, I would recommend them to everyone :)

I took the Microblading course and became certified at the Camarillo class on Sunday. I had been looking for a place to train at that was close to home, because having to travel far was not ideal, especially after becoming a new mom this year. The Certification class is only for one long day, but I like that follow up is a continuation for months to come. That make me feel at ease knowing that it technically isn't just one day training. I got some guidance from Wendy, Josh, & Christine. They were very encouraging and gave positive motivation during the Microblading procedures. My models were excited and left happy with their new eyebrows. The results were beautiful and natural looking! One of my models that originally had no hair, left with tears of joy, being so happy to finally have beautiful natural looking brows! It's a touching experience to be able to help someone feel beautiful! I'm so excited to add this new service to my client in my business at SJ Studio Salon & Spa!

    Kristi B.

Received my hands on training and certificate today! It was a jam packed day but I love that they put you right in it (with instructors, in small groups) right from the start. I still need my permit and completed inspection but I'll be practicing in the mean time! The owner and her husband as well as the entire staff (even her assistant Jo Ann) truly care about each artists success in this field. Prior to choosing Microblading Academy, I shopped around, and I'm so glad I moved forward with MBA. Super professional and thorough! (Team Jamaica/Wendy!)

Every…read morecounselor my family has met has given false information and limited choices where there were alternatives available. In addition, the teachers are highly unmoving and do not even allow a late assignment when an immediate family member has been in the hospital or even passed away. Most recently, a teacher stated that it would not be equitable to treat students differently in such circumstances. Equality and equity are not the same thing; equity is giving people what they need, versus equality which is giving everyone the same thing. The fact that she did not understand that concept was especially frustrating and alarming considering it was a COMMUNICATIONS CLASS. I strongly urge any and all attendees to research the teacher's name and history on MULTIPLE sources, not just the college's. This institution depends on the ignorance of students in order to pass themselves off as "experts." I use the term "teacher" rather than "professor" since they are clearly not at that caliber. In this particular case, the teacher is Stacy Sloan Graham. We are required to take multiple courses in equity to obtain our degrees. However, this college does not seem to require their educators to practice it.

I couldn't believe my eyes. This is state-of-the-art facility with high ceilings and industrial exposed tubing on the ceiling. It's modern and shiny with 20 or so stations for hair in the center of the room and a long row of nail stations along the right side. Stairs take you up to the classrooms and treatment room for facials. The old facility was built around the time of the PHF (the SB County loony bin). It was institutional, evoking Suzanne Vega's "Institution Green." The work was always excellent, though. Good product and well-trained students nearly ready to graduate. The prices are unbelievable. I had a "premium" facial with Lauren. It took 65 or so minutes and the sheets on the reclining bed were incredibly soft. The steam felt fantastic. There are no curtains separating the beds and everyone speaks in a whisper, so it's quite peaceful. I have clear skin but it's been about 18 months since my last facial. I have no pimples or skin problems but facials are important for evening out skin tone. For people who need extensive extractions, facials will result in clearer skin. Those who don't hydrate properly with product will also benefit. But I am pretty hydrated (Tatcha cleanser, exfoliator, moisturizer, Erasa Skincare anti-aging serum, and Faces by Liliana toner and eye cream) .So for me, it was ultra hydration plus a radical improvement in skin tone. I am going to go this week, if possible, for a blowout or updo. The hair services are staggeringly inexpensive. A French braid for $11 (long hair) and updo for $26. I wish Gov Hair Product (or French Laundry) had opened this sooner. I will be back regularly until I move back to New York. What a joy! 10 stars! (And Lauren is fantastic!)

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and unfortunately, that's not what I've experienced. Most of the barber chairs were broken or barely functional, and the equipment looked old and poorly maintained. It's hard to take anything seriously when the place preaches professionalism but can't even keep the basics in working order. The hypocrisy is unreal--they expect high standards from everyone else, but clearly don't hold themselves to the same. This place is a joke. The teachers seem more focused on making you do doll head work than actually teaching how to cut real hair. Instead of giving proper hands-on training, they are more worried about sending students home early for the smallest things . How are we supposed to learn if we're not being taught the basics properly? Total waste of time and money. DO NOT COME HERE!!

PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING A DECISION TO ENROLL!!…read more I wanted to wait an adequate amount of time before posting this to see if it was still worth posting. I almost didn't but I don't want any one else to go through the same thing I went through. I was a past student at Jama's Beauty and Barber College and think that people SHOULD NOT attend this school. There is so many wrong things with this school. Firstly, the director Ms. Jama and the school itself. Many have described her as controlling and rude. So many students have complained about her. Most of the cosmetology students either dropped out or transferred to a different school (NOT BECAUSE THEY GRADUATED). One day the entire cosmetology room was filled, the next less than 10 students remained. Many of the students that did transfer talk about how they're learning so much stuff at their new schools compared to this one. How they're new school is so much better and how they're glad they left this one. How their instructor here lacked and felt like they didn't learn anything from her. A student on the esthetician side had complained about the door beeping from the wind (makes a sound when the door opens) and about the uncomfortable seats to Ms. Jama. Ms. Jama called her a "Little princess" despite their concerns being reasonable. The same student broke down weeks later because of how they disliked the school so much and how it drained them. Many of the other students agreed. That student later dropped out. Another time a student had requested new towels be bought since both esthetician students and cosmetology students were using the spa room. Esthetician students had been rotating laundry, THE SECOND a load was done, another was added. Ms. Jama responded with "No you guys need to stay on top of the laundry that's why you guys are running out." When the student tried to explain that the esthetician students were on top of it, Ms. Jama ignored her and said the same thing and how they should be better at staying on top of the laundry. No new towels were bought. Judging by the other negative yelp reviews, you can tell that Ms. Jama DOES NOT take any accountability nor does she care since she just copy and pastes her same responses to most of the negative reviews. Secondly, the school's supplies and kits. Both cosmetology and esthetician students have complained about the kits either because of unusable/broken items or being outdated. Unusable old eyelash glue, broken hairdryer dryers, etc. There are multiple steamers by the restroom on the esthetician side that don't work. This school teaches about sanitation and contamination but yet has 2 broken trash cans - 1 in the spa room and 1 in the manicurist area (You have to lift the top to throw stuff inside). When instructors are told about either trash can, they're just told along the lines of "Oh.. I'll let Ms. Jama know" and nothing is ever done about it. Those have been there for over a year. The chairs in the lecture rooms on both the cosmo side and the esthetician side are very uncomfortable foldable chairs, the kind you use for parties. Your back and butt will ache so much at the end of the day on those chairs. A student had once complained about them to Ms. Jama herself and was told "Just bring a pillow from home." A school that also teaches about ergonomics by the way. The school takes pride in having classes only 3 days a week, but it's so hard to attend school when you are so completely bored out of your mind. Even harder when you're working a full time job to pay for the school. Theory days are the worst. You spend 8 hours doing book work and the lectures are just the instructor reading straight out of the book. There's no engagement what so ever. Students can finish 2+ chapters each theory day but just because you can do that doesn't mean the class will progress with you. So there's no point in doing that. On the other two days, you can work hands on but it still feels like a drag. A lot of students have complained about the lack of enthusiasm or engagement on school days. Many of the students who have graduated complained about how they wanted to leave and transfer out but stayed only because they already invested so much money into the school. There are many more things I could list but those are the main concerns and complaints past and present students had about the school. Enroll at your own risk. I highly suggest looking some place else to go to school.
