i usually don't give reviews, I am this time because I wouldn't want anyone to end up with the horrible work that was done by this company Mid Alantic Concrete! I'm only saying the one in Pasadena. Jack and Alex are the ones I dealt with, it has been 2 years, but there were issues right off the bat! I probably went back and forth with them the first year, being told someone was coming back to look at the work, I even sent several pictures of the work they did. I finally gave up. if I can get the pictures on here I will. Alex came back to try and repair the problem, but he messed that up too according to jack! i am pretty sure concrete should not start crumbling the 2nd year, I wish I could show the pictures, it is so bad I'm going to have the sidewalk redone by a different company. This time I will definitely look at reviews I don't want to give them any stars, but in order to post this review it looks like I have to! so when you see one star the work they did was not even fit to show a one star review! read more

This is the worst, most unethical, shady contractor I've ever had contact with in my opinion. They did terrible work at my house, a representative from their company came out after months of calls and agreed with me that the job was garbage. They still won't come fix it. They have a legal obligation to resolve issues in the first year as warranty. Their entire business model seems to be, collect your money, do bad work, play games for a year after the job is finished and leave you hanging. read more

Mid Atlantic repaired bricks on my front steps. They did a marvelous job. Liked it so much I had them replace the top boards of my deck. Great job. So i hired them to renovate my bathroom. They clogged my main drain with debris, and my basement and work desk were pretty much unavailable to me. When I pointed out thay they neglected to apply grout to about four inches of the wall tile, they didn't. While the work was ongoing they piled the demolition debris on my front yard. About a 10 foot bare spot after cleanup. They wouldn't fix that either. The good will they earned with the first two projects evaporated. Small jobs - go ahead and hire them. Big projects - go elsewhere. Oh, they gave me an estimate of $1800 to stain my deck. Got someone else who did a terrific job, for $420. read more

I agree with the other posts here and strongly advise you to not use this company. They are a complete scam. They take your money, do sub-par work that falls apart and then ghost you. They constantly say they will come fix the work under warranty and never do. Luke Scheffenacker, their sales person, "Jake" the foreman, "Jack" in the office and the others that work there all perpetrate the scam. I have made 21 calls to them to get them to repair their work over the course of 5 months with responses like 'we are so busy', ' we will be there this week', 'we will honor our warranty'. All lies. Everyone and anyone - do not use Mid-Atlantic Concrete. I signed a contract in early August and paid the $7k deposit. They seemed legitm use docusign for contracts, and they said they would start in a few weeks . Instead, they have gone completely dark. Initially I got a few text messages from the "project manager" saying they were talking to "their scheduler" or having a "scheduling meeting". But this amounted to nothing and now I''m not getting any responses at all to text, phone, or emails. A legitimate company does not behave this way. We met with multiple people Jackie McPhee, Keith Pickett. They were very convincing. Now, I am convinced that they are scammers. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

This is a horrible company. Just horrible. They take your money. They do a horrible job and anyone that gave them anymore than a 1 or less stars , they are questionable. The work was shoddy and would not respond to calls. I have pics but I'm not able to upload. They were supposed to stain my porch but they painted it, but tried to assure me it was stain and it was not the color I chose. Now in less than a year, it is peeling and chipping. Do NOT use this company!! We have never received our deposit refunded after we decided to cancel our contract within 2 days! We filed a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission. The owner never responded to the letter the Maryland Home Improvement Commission sent the owner. It is very likely this company will lose their MHIC license. I wish I could give them ZERO stars here. It seems that I am a tear in a salty sea with this complaint. My experience with MAC and Improvement Specialists has been an utter nightmare and now I've had to fire them, file an official complaint, and will be taking them to court shortly. Jack is impossible to work with and has NO CLUE what he is doing. His Mexicans are the only ones who know how to do anything in his organization. The communication was horrible, they failed NUMEROUS inspections and didn't even know when certain ones had to be called in, and my project went along for five months before I finally gave up and fired them. We signed a contract in June and put down a deposit of 1/3. It took almost 2 months before they came out to do the framing for our new patio in which we put down the 2nd payment. They did not create the foundation clearly stated on the contract applying a gravel base and wire mesh. They poured the concrete on the dirt, left and have not come back to address our concern. We are now out 8700 dollars and have to go through arbitration to resolve the matter. Do not hire these folks. We saw them on Angi and thought they would be reputable... they are not. read more

Paid $690 deposit and NO WORK WAS DONE. Told concrete drive removal would be done first week in July. NEver Happened, they forgot out me, caught up with them in August (my dad died took me a while to realize it was now a month later and no contact from the company. Was told on phone I would receive credit for deposit. I had to get someone else, that actually did the job. read more

This should be ZERO STARS! We've been in dispute with this company since early Aug 2024. They were contracted to rebuild a damaged basement entrance wall. Insisted on deposit AND 2nd of 3 pymts before even beginning work. I thought it odd that they didn't bring any concrete block with them to do this job. I was very sick that day and they came 2+ hrs late so I went back to bed. After the foreman told me he was finished and to come look, I said I'd wait for my husband. When we looked at it, they covered the damage up with cement and lied and said they rebuilt the wall. When called out, we were passed to a supervisor. Lawyer told us to dispute charges so we did. Eventually, they came back and did a shit job, not plumb, toddler like parging, huge pile of debris left STILL, and didn't reburry our gas line, and didn't grade soil returned to wall away from wall so now water pools along wall. Still dealing with this today. Please, please, please submit complaints to MD attorney General office and MHIC - lawyer said they will have his residential license pulled. I'm also submitting to BBB. I saw the following from an Angie's list review and wish I saw it sooner: He took over company from his father, who moved to Florida, and ran it into the ground. His father, Jack McFee, Jr., even posted online NOT to do business with him because he is a crook. Just wanted to share and I'm very sorry I waited so long to share their unethical practices and crooked financial requirements (demanding 2/3 paid upfront before work begins. They knew they werent going to do what was on the contract. Otherwise they would have had the required materials on the site. Like others, I called and asked for owners name and contact info. After many conversations with the owner and the VP it only took 4 months for them to complete the project! They didn't even slope the driveway properly and the site manager was barely ever here to manage the project! Problems with the slope were fixed but they needed someone who was experienced to do the job properly. Tossed rod iron rails into the grass and had to have them come back and reinstall them after concrete cured! Not sure how they got to the conclusion that we weren't going to reuse the same rails?! Also, the porch poles holding up my porch were left bare for months and they just finally finished the job up. After the job got started back in February and it's now June! That's not a good thing for them although they got the job done it took months of calling the owner and vice president to get things done! Don't recommend Luke as your project manager for any job, great salesman but sight manager not experienced enough to even make decisions about the job! read more

This company is a scam. I signed a contract June 19, 2024 for a patio installation that was estimated to start in aabout 3 weeks. Gave deposit of 8500. Around the 3week mark, i reached out to the sales representative to get an update. He was out of town on a family emergency and Candace was taking his contracts. I reached out to her with no response. I called the main office number and left messages with the secretary to speak with management or owner. No one answered me until I ultimately requested a refund after no ccommunication and reading more awful reviews. They ultimately told me no refund because of a 5 day clause that I had no knowledge of. I had no original contract and they have yet to produce the contract I signed. I have submitted a complaint with the BBB and am currently waiting on arbitration. I just want my full refund since they haven't done 5min of work for my project. I don't trust them at this point. This company was terrible in so many ways. Excellent first meeting and felt very confident about their work and the price was reasonable. However, they were terrible in so many ways. First it took about 4 months to start the work. I expected 6-8 weeks, not a big deal. Once work was started they got shut down by the city of Baltimore because they never got a permit. I received several citations and had to make numerous calls. It seemed that the onsite project manager and the office never communicated about the permit, and I was the one to finally persuade the office to file for a permit. Luckily all the citations were dropped but it took another two months and caused lots of anxiety. Then they finally claimed they were completed with the work and send some nice photos. However, on inspection, they did not remove nails or pin point the mortar on the bricks (job was removing form stone from a row house). They also installed a very cheap rail for the steps and only quickly patched a spot of the bottom step which I'm sure will chip off in a few months. I've been trying for about another two months to get them to come out and complete the work but they have not done it yet. Very disappointed. Please do not use this company! read more

I got my driveway stamped by Mid Atlantic back in May 2023. The workers did a fabulous job. BUT the owner Jackie is another story.. After the work was done a few months later in Aug 2023 the driveway started cracking. I informed him on many occasions and he just kept given me the run around. It wasn't till April 2024, 8 months later when they came to fix the cracks.. I wish they never came out because they made the cracks worse.. Jackie told me he was not finished and would come back. As usually Jackie gave me the run around again the whole summer and never showed up to fit the cracks. I contact their customer service on 3 Sep, 6 months later and inform them of the situation. They said they would pass the message on and someone would contact me. 3 weeks later I am still waiting for someone to contact me.. This company/owner has no respect or common courtesy for people time. I would NOT recommend this company. See the pictures of the crack before and after. read more

Honestly, we think that Mid Atlantic would do a good job, if they could get to the work phase. We contracted with them for a foundation for a detached garage through "Angie", as we had been overseas for 20 years and wanted a vetted company. We are now working through "Angie's" list to get them removed! Our Project lead (Luke) had several positive mentions in Google reviews, so we felt comfortable signing. Due to a permit issue for the garage with the county & our septic location, Luke and I agreed on a refund. I offered to pay for his time, but he refused and said our full refund was being processed. 3 phone calls over the next 3 weeks with responses of they are backed up, led to direct conversation with Jennifer on the main line. A month of no refund, and my messages being ignored, we sensed a scam, so we contacted our credit card company and filed a dispute. When filing a dispute, Cap1 provided a temp credit for the charged amount during the dispute, hoping to get Mid A. to refund us. Feedback through Cap 1 from the Mid A owner (Jackie McFee), was that our refund request was beyond there 5 bus day refund policy. Yes, a scam. Unable for us to produce proof requesting our refund in the 5 bus days, Cap 1 was forced to close the dispute, and remove the temp credit. We then reached out to the Better Bus. Bureau. I encourage you to read the BBB synopsis from this case (BBB website and search for company, then click on profile). Jackie was now claiming that Cap 1 had charged him, and we were refunded. We simply provided 4 months of credit card statements validating Mid Atlantic did not credit us, but Jackie was only able to produce words and excuses while delaying this several more weeks. Our assumption, a company desperate to make payroll, and us seniors are easy prey. Next stop, district court with our evidence and the BBB final comments of "This complaint is being closed as unresolved due to the business failing to provide documentation that the a refund ultimately went to the consumer. The consumer has provided documentation showing that there was a temporary refund, but in June2024, the charge was placed back on his credit card (as shown in documentation already to the business). *** You cannot make this stuff up. 4 months into this and Jackie still has our $4100 for swinging by our house for 45 minutes..
