Going to the DMV is like being loaded up with homework before the weekend. You know you need to do…read moreit, but you'll spend every waking minute avoiding it until it's all of a sudden Sunday night and you're forced into it. Luckily, the Grandview DMV is like having your parents step in and help you through it. I've had less than ideal experiences here, specifically when I had to move from Kansas to Missouri. The amount of oddly specific documentation I needed was on par for Pentagon clearance, and the staff member seemed to take some joy in the fact that I was one doc shy of approval. However if you're on top of it, it's not so bad. They do it all here, from registrations, property taxes, licensing, and whatever other beige tasks stand before you. The past few times, it's been licensing and I'm here to offer some pro-tips to make it easy for anyone who comes across this: - PAY ANNUAL REGISTRATION ONLINE: First off, if you're a MO resident, you get those annual car registration bills in the mail. Bite the bullet and pay for 2 years, online, the minute you get it. This will save you a trip from even having to come here. -GET IN LINE BEFORE: No matter what you're knocking out, take a look at their website (https://www.grandview.org/government/city-departments/finance/state-licensing-office) and/or download QLess. Both offer the ability to add yourself to the line digitally without leaving the house, saving hours. -REAL ID: Missouri is requiring Real ID in 2023 for flying (or use of a passport) so if you're renewing your driver's license, definitely come prepared to get this so you're not having to go back. I showed a birth certificate (ordered mine through a company called Vital Chek and it only took a week to arrive), govt check, social security card, two pieces of mail, and a current driver's license. There are other things that will work, like a non-expired passport, etc. but triple check their website before you leave the house so it's not a wasted day. -COVID: As of writing this, Covid is still a (big) thing, but they're open like normal. The area is large*, there's a temp check on the way in (no one was using it, however), and masks are required throughout. *Large until you get to the driver's license station, where everyone was crammed in like sardines. -NEW MO RESIDENTS: If you're a new MO resident, you need to do car registration THEN licensing, in order. Add yourself to the licensing queue while you're handling the first task so you don't spend the full day there. -WHEN TO GO: Common wisdom is middle of the week, middle of the month. Deadlines are often monthly, so they get more packed at the end of the month especially, or after holidays. I failed to add myself to the list, and it took four hours to get my license renewal, but had I known, it would've been easy-peasy. The plus side to all of this is their text communications and ability to track your spot in line via the app. I ended up working from my car and listening to podcasts, so it wasn't all bad. You could even go home and come back, no need to sit around all day if the waits are long. All in all, the ample parking, friendly-ish staff (most of the time), good signage throughout so it's clear where to go, and surprisingly easy jaunt to get there (less than 20 minutes from the Plaza) make this one head and shoulders better than downtown KC or others in more dense, urban areas.

I'd like to add that when it was close to closing he would face away from the people sitting and call out names rather than numbers and he'd say it quietly. Then people didn't hear him and he'd skip right over them. He makes it very obvious that he hates his job.

I also love their seminary school. The classes offered is perfect for people who need to work during the day time but love to earn a MA degrees. This type of class offered on Mon-Thur evening from 5:30PM-9:30PM. They have some weekend modular classes which allow you just attend 1 weekend class time, and do the homework on your own path within given reasonable time frame. They have so many practical majors (please check out their website) I wish I can take all of them, but my personal favorite is their Biblical Counseling class. It teaches you both basic theology and very practical counseling methods according 100% on God's Words without humanistic base secular psychology influence. Some examples of Biblical Counseling classes are: Crisis Counseling, Family Counseling, Addictions Counseling, Counseling Women...etcs. Professors share real cases stories (but use anonymous names for people or church involved) and students can learn from the hands-on analysis for counseling. I also enjoyed their their theology classes. Professors encourage students to ask questions (and there is no dumb questions) and discuss their thoughts according to God's Words. I have been student here and enjoyed every single class from all my professors. They are kind, patient, helpful, have a listening heart, knowledgeable, scholar, servant heart, and also serve in churches with real-hand on experience to share with students. They also have radio station in Kansas Ctiy area. Tune in FM 88.5 to listen to their Christian music and daily short preaching while driving to work or home. If you are interested in their programs, email or call their Admission office, they can send you a package so you can have more ideas of what classes are offered. Yes, they also offer credit or sit-in-non-credit-auditing class for personal enrichment. Love it, I move from Indiana to Kansas just for attending this school.

The replacement staff graduated from pseudo universities, such as Webster and other non-significant online places to teach mostly mediocre students. Every year the student body gets worse and appears to be less prepared for college than the previous bunch. If you can stomach an urban body setting with drooling faces then by all means attend. Don't expect much for what you get because this place is about profit at the expense of student's expectations. A theory of false hopes and rah rah rah attitude is encouraged by student service leaders onto their minimum-wage student staff, who are only appreciated if they drink their Kool-aid, and continue to treat students as if they were in grade school with trophies for poor work.

Of course no one in the advising office knows why or is willing to help figure it out. That is ok though, because at least the division head knows what she is doing and got it all figured out. Then again, their curriculum does not match the field I am going into at all nor the other schools in the area to successfully transfer credits. I also cannot forget how they took my money for a 5 credit hour class, but would not let me take the class. I never received a refund for the class, but instead was repaid with a F for the class that I was not allowed to take. Among many other problems that I have had with Longview, I realized that you most likely will not find help at all from the staff. I was forced to reach out to the other MCC campuses just to help with my problems with Longview. The staff here is very unhelpful, rude, and simply lacks the knowledge of their own curriculum. One star is more than generous to say the least.
