Don't bring your car here. They have consistently put the wrong oil in my car. My car takes 5W-30, it's literally printed on the oil cap, and they insist on putting OW 20 which my car burns through like water. Legitimately have to get my oil changed 2000 miles before I should have to. They also quoted me $1700 to replace my radiator and another $800 to replace my thermostat. And they said they were giving me a deal. I took it to another mechanic and my radiator and my thermostat were fine. It did not need to be replaced. These guys don't know what they're talking about. On top of all that they also messed up my girlfriend's car by putting in the wrong oil. Which resulted in $1000 fix from a different shop. If you need your car fixed, take it to an actual mechanic who knows what they're talking about. read more

Went in to get an inspection. I expected some work needed to be done on my car and they informed me I needed to pay over $2300 worth of repairs, insane cost but I trusted they knew what they were doing. They told me my car would pass inspection with all the repairs they did, that they needed me to drive 100 miles for the emissions to pass. The next day my engine light popped back on, and after 200+ miles, I took it back only for them to tell me it still won't pass inspection. They replaced a sensor and reset it once again, told me to drive it another 100+ miles and swing back for emission. The day after, the light popped back on after only 10 minutes of driving. I dropped by the shop AGAIN, trying to give the benefit of the doubt, and asked how they can charge me $2400 for repairs and my car would still not pass inspection. They told me at this point to go to their sister store to retrieve a "waiver", which is a band-aid over the major issue that they don't know what's wrong with my car and now I'm in debt with their credit card, and my service light is still on. The issue was not fixed, im in debt, and dissatisfied with the work they did. Definitely do not know what they are doing if they can't solve a simple sensor issue. I would rather you tell me you can't fix it then lead me on to believe that I pay that much for a fix that you don't know how to solve. I want my money back/service compt and I'll fix the problem myself with someone who knows what they're doing. Two weeks of headache and the problem was never solved. Do not fall for the money scheme. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I went for an inspection and they quoted me $2400.00 worth of work that needed to be done. The guy told me the front rotor was cracked and was shining a flashlight on it for me to verify it. I said I couldn't see a crack and he got a little flustered and changed the subject. Needless to say, I left to get a second opinion. I just left Meineke on south fourth street and spent a total of $335.00 for rear brakes and rotors to get the inspection completed. I was shocked. The cost of repairs for an inspection went from $2400.00 to $335.00. We used to like this place, but will never go there again. read more

i hope you have time to read. i will share with you our personal experience with midas on lehigh street near the south mall in allentown pa. we took our 2006 toyota highlander with the vsc engine light on. the diagnosis was given to us and we applied for a loan to pay the repairs and to turn off the lights on the dash board. as soon as my husband leaves midas after the repairs were done, the lights turn back on. we take it back. another diagnosis says it needs another repair. we had to apply for another loan of 500$, mind you i had just gotten a loan too cover 2,542 for the repairs that would turn off engine lights... we got the loan to pay for the other repair that would fix the problem but after the repair the light turned back on and we're over 3000,00 in debt. we are seniors living check to check. when i called to speak with derrick he said, "your car is starting to get on my nerves. we are paying over 400$ a month for two years and the lights are still on because it still needs another 2500$ in repairs ????? the worse experience of our retired years. we were ripped off and the problem is not solved. better business bureau should know about this and the finance agencies as well. i cried to these people asking to please fix our blessed car to no avail. we took long to write this review because i couldn't get the energy to write. we are senior citizens taken for fools! i will never speak good of midas. we have suffered hardship because of the amount we must pay monthly. the lights- after over 3000$ of repairs still are on. this situation will not allow us to get our car inspected, which made us decide to leave "pa" to a state that needs no inspection. you have marked our lives forever in the most traumatizing way. we had to leave our sons daughters grand kids behind because of this. every 3rd of the month when paying this loan who ripped us off hits the bank it hurts. lights still on. i hope you can live with yourself. shame on you! the seniors gallardo read more

Midas rocks! This is my first time renting a car from Advantage. I drove from Newark Airport to my dad's, an hour and 15 minute drive. Since I have not used the car until today. Within 15 minutes I got the tire air low alert. I've been at Midas for an hour because they found 2 tires with punctures, not just one. Not only did they check the one tire (based on car indicator), but all, and they fit me into their schedule. Customer service was great too. On a side note: No fee to fix a tire. I only give one star because I can't give less. I've been there twice. The first time when they told me they didn't have the part and I had to return. I manuveured schedules at work so I could take a day off the next week and set up the appt to return for the repair. The second time I was there they told that they FORGOT to order the part, I should come back tomorrow. I don't have a job where I can keep taking time off with a few hours notice. Poor customer service to the point of being rude and surly on the part of the manager, they change managers every 2 months at the MOST, misdiagnoses of auto issue (purposely) and rates that are through the roof. Went in to get a oil change, heard some banging, I don't know why my car was out of my sight with all the open spaces they had in my view, I ended up paying for an oil change and ended up leaving with my car having more problems then I ever experienced. How do you go with a perfectly fine car somewhere to get an oil change and then lights start coming on in your vehicle.? The good thing is I got it diagnosed at the dealer 2 weeks before and now I go there and they do a "oil change" and now I need 5 grand worth of work. Get ready to buy me a new truck Midas. This lawsuit is a blessing at these times were in. This is why I always take my car to a dealer to get serviced were contractually they wouldn't want to fuck you over. Knowing you went to them. But Midas on the other hand there on Lehigh st are a bunch of scumbags that try to get over on you. They thought I wasn't knowledgeable about vehicles so they felt they could bang up my car last crucial operational components and think I wouldn't notice. I only take my car to the dealer to get serviced I have records of that to prove it. The one time I decide not to drive out of my way to get my car an oil change I get my cars insides banged and destroyed. Always go to the dealer when you care about your car you will save more than what these price of shit shops could offer. They were just trying to make a easy couple of grand to stay above water since the pandemic is kicking everyone's ass right now financially when your a business owner. Took my Honda in to have the rear rotors, both rear pads and left caliper replaced. They wanted to replace both calipers, at $184 each Plus a brake flush at $42.10. Total job was quoted at $736.70 but the guy on the phone told me $819. I said no way and went to pick it up. I usually go to my mechanic whom i trust very much but since it was a weekend he was not open. I took it in this morning and he did the whole job for $397.12. The rotors were half the price and the caliper was $70 less, The pads were $50 less... and he stated that only one caliper was in need of change. I can understand perhaps $100 discrepancy in price but $339.55????!!!! NEVER AGAIN. You have a bad experience at a business and you tell 7 people....thanks for nothing Midas. read more

The basic installation of a serpetine belt was grueling. expensive and quite questionable. In 2014, the  shop gave me an initial qoute for the basic installation of a basic serpentine belt for my mazda. I got a call a half an hour into the repair from Manager john garbadakis, stating that the repair would take an hour longer, and that the price would inflate, due to the cost of labor to remove the water pump.  Strangely, twenty minutues later, john garbadakis called  to inform me that my vehicle was ready. I asked why it was done earliar than expected, but got no reasonable expanation for the miraculous quick hands of the mechanic. I paid the extra $98.00 for the labor and drove home. The next day, my car overheated on the way to work. I went to another shop for an inspection of the problem, only to find out that it was the serpentine belt installed from midas.  After work, I went to midas and was met with a horrific attitude from the cashier about my experience. I am telling the truth and would volunteer for a polygraph test to prove my honesty of this experience. I am willing to submit to a polygraph test, midas. Midas of Allentown recently tried to "touch" me for what it said could be $2,000 in car repairs when I merely went in for my first Pennsylvania MV inspection. They showed me lots of wear on the underside of my car and a supposedly major oil leak that was damaging the catalytic converter. The curious part was that they'd worked on my car at the turn of the year and fixed one problem without finding all these other things. Coincidentally, for the first time, this past winter my car was being stored in a heated garage when not in use. Anyway, the new manager there said I desperately needed a new serpentine belt and the catalytic converter replaced as a minimum before I could get inspection sticker approval. Imagine my surprise when I reached my apartment house and looked at the sticker. It said my car had PASSED and was valid on the road until July, 2016. I know from years as a crime and courts reporter and my own bitter experiences as a car owner that unnecessary repairs and even outright fraud frequently exist. Furthermore, when I opened the Midas packet with the invoice, I discovered a form saying the car had passed and there was NO SIGN of the extensive and costly list of repairs the manager had shown me. I'm going to share my experience with my fellow senior-citizen neighbors. They may want to reconsider ever using MIDAS for fear of being similarly "touched." For once, I hoped I was wrong. Apparently only my hopes for an honest mechanic were incorrect. To add insult to injury, I sent an email about my experiences to Midas corporate headquarters. I received a response from a woman in consumer relations that the franchise owner would be in touch within two business days. The franchisee never did. On Aug. 3, I advised the woman from consumer relations there had been no response from the Lehigh Street Midas franchisee. Her response was less than impressive. On Aug. 6 she wrote me: "I apologize for the owner not contacting you personally and for your experience at the store. Your complaint has been documented by Midas, Consumer Affairs Department and will remain a part of the Franchise's records. The Franchise Owner have been notified to contact you as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience." It is now Aug. 17 and I've yet to receive any phone call or email from the franchisee. This is a significant example of the adage LET THE BUYER BEWARE and I suggest finding some other shop whenever auto repairs or other services are needed. That's what I will be doing. read more

I've been going to this location for the past 3 years for all of my automotive needs since moving out here to the Lehigh Valley area from San Diego, and for good reason! I've never received anything but professional and exceptional service from this particular Midas. The manager Andrew treats the customer like the most important part of the business, is knowledgeable, and will do everything in his power to accommodate inconveniences and issues that may arise related to service or parts availability. The technicians are highly skilled and will take their time to explain or even demonstrate the issue or defect, and all quotes I have received have been right on what I expected to have to pay, and many times even less. I recently had a major issue with my car, and the guys at this shop went above and beyond to take care of both me and my car. If you're looking for that small shop feeling where they get to know the both the customer and the car, but have big shop equipment, parts availability, speed, and knowledge, then I would highly recommend that you give this Lehigh Street Midas a chance for the next time your automobile needs service! read more

I will NEVER go to Midas on Lehigh Street Allentown again. After taking multiple cars of mine there over the last few years I had my son's car in there 6 months ago for inspection. They passed everything except for a small crack in his tail light. We then took it back 6 months later (took a while to fix it) to have it re-inspected to be told they'd have to do the entire inspection over again because of the length of time. Which I was fine with. Only to be told that we needed multiple new repairs to the exhaust system now that somehow went bad in 6 months. One of the repairs they told me needed to be done was done the prior year for inspection!! I did not let Midas fix anything and took my son's car to another garage and explained to them and showed them what Midas said was wrong. Midas quoted me $430 worth of repairs. The new garage thoroughly checked over my sons car and only found 2 marker lights out and the emergency brake stuck (which was easily fixed). They didn't find a single thing wrong with the exhaust (no leaks, no rust) and the mechanic said he went over it thoroughly!! The car passed inspection!! How does a shop like MIDAS get away with screwing customers like this??? This is a disgrace that they see a vulnerable customer and take advantage of them. I will be contacting their headquarters and making a formal complaint!! read more
