Wow - this is not a review I ever thought I would give, but the Midas in Columbus had amazing customer service. We drove our Volkswagen Golf from Chicago to Columbus and about an hour out we realized our air conditioner was not working. We made it to our destination and called the closest Volkswagen dealer, but was unable to get a service appointment because it was a holiday. Though they were not able to assist us with a repair since we would need to order a new part, the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend bringing your car in for service since they are honest which is quite a find for a mechanic! read more

I went there to get a heater hose replaced and i bought the hose. to switch out you only need to release 2 quick connects and one clamp you can remove with screwdriver repair took 15 minutes they charged me $413. overheard them on phone telling some else that had brought car in for minor repair and they told them we think because we cleaned whatever it was the increase pressure resulted in something else going out and it would be another 600 to fix. These guys, quite simply, are crooks. Went in for an oil change, and was told my oil pan was destroyed and had to be replaced. $600. I had the original oil pan tested by an ASE certified mechanic at another shop, who concluded the part was in serviceable condition and did not need to be replaced. Like I said--MIDAS in Columbus, IN is a crooked operation. Even worse, Columbus PD told me what they did is not a crime. Stay far away. read more

Took the car in for a brake job. Paid nearly $700 (all four pads and rotors) and drove the car home. A few months later, began hearing a terrible grinding noise from the rear. I have moved to Bloomfield in the meantime, and took the car to my local Midas to see what was up. They pulled all four tires and it was obvious the left rear wasn't touched by Midas in Columbus. The pad was gone, the rotor horribly scored, and the caliper frozen. The Bloomington Midas completed the repair job at no additional expense and was very apologetic for the crappy work that Midas in Columbus had done. From the sounds of other reviews, this is normal for these guys. Steer clear of them. read more

Typical bait n switch, went in for the $24.99 oil change. 1st they wanted me to upgrade to a synthetic, no thanks. Next they come up with my back rotors are bad and I need front & rear pads $ 440. Took my car for ONLY oil change and few minutes later they took down my wheels and trying to replace all of them that cost like $2,400+ money. Not appreciate what they have done, it could ruined my 4-wheel alignment. Not recommend to come here. read more

Saturday 7:30am. Took truck to Midas for an oil change. Asked to look the truck over really good. Manager came back and told me rear diff fluid needed changed. And both rear wheel bearings needed replaced. Said it'd be done in a few hours. An hour before close, I get the truck back, pay $600+ and drive it home and notice the brakes are "stuttering" and the rear is making an awful screeching noise. Don't drive truck the rest of weekend. Take to Midas Monday. Monday 7:30am. Explained in great detail, with video proof of the noise. Manager (Rick) said absolutely, they'll take care of it. Don't hear from him until I stop in that evening. Ask manager what's up and he tells me they got the wrong wheel bearings for my axle. Said they had them coming and it'll be ready by closing. I go back at 5:45pm (close at 6) and they tell me they won't have the part until Tuesday morning. I say ok and leave it at that. Tuesday Morning. I call and get the same response. They are waiting on the part and it should be done by lunch time. I go in around then and am told that the seal was installed backwards. Instead of replacing the bearings, they said they just swapped in new seals. Leaving, I assume, the damaged bearings in. I leave and return that evening around 5:45 to them "chiseling" the bearing race off of the axle shaft. Clearly scratching the shaft up while doing it. (Only drivers side rear) as far as I know the passenger side rear wasn't touched. Am told by Manager that the wheel studs need replaced and are damaged (by them) and that they'll have it done first thing Wednesday morning. So I leave. Wednesday 10:30am I call Midas and am told the studs will be there but they may have to replace the entire hub assembly. I go into the shop at 3:00pm and tell them it needs to be done and that I'm taking my vehicle regardless. That if it has to be towed to my house that's fine and they'll foot the bill. They rushed around. Found some lug nuts that "would work." And speedily test drive the truck. Clearly with an attitude. (Tyler) I go to leave and notice the ABS light is now on. As well as the anti slip light. I go in to tell them, they hook it up to no avail and unhook the battery for ten mins. Battery reset doesn't work and lights are still on. Told to come back Thursday morning when manager (Rick) is there. Drive home..horribly loud screeching from the rear. Louder than the first time. Thursday 7:30am On the way to the shop the driver rear wheel nearly came off. Missing a lug nut and all other nuts were hand tight only. Pulled up, manager (Rick) says "still not right?" I proceed to chew into them asking them what they've done to my truck. Manager continues to cop an attitude and gets in my face. Tells me "I rushed them" when he told me that it would be done Saturday afternoon. Which of course it wasn't. Proceeds to be belligerent and tell me they'll fix it. I told them I don't want them touching it and would rather set it on fire than have them drive it back in the work bay and that they'll be paying for another shop to sort it properly. He then jabs his finger at me and tells me he'll "lay me down." Looking to fight, which I'm more than happy to oblige. Call corporate again, to no avail. GM calls me and tells me that they won't be paying for it and that if I take it someplace else that's on me. Defends the actions of manager (Rick). Took to another shop to get a diagnosis. We shall see... Update.. They destroyed my driver side axle. Bashed it, the axle flange and caused the wheel to not seat properly. Causing a loose wheel, which in turn destroyed my brake caliper and the mount. Not to mention the rotor. Midas also never even touched the passenger side. As it shows no signs of tool marks or cleaning (like the other side does.) This damage also destroyed my ABS exciter. If I could rate this -stars, I would. read more

I was on vacation with my two children in Columbus area and 3 1/2 hours from home. Multiple brake lights came on Friday and had made an unfamiliar sound. I called first thing Sat. Morning and they got me in right away. Found that it was Just a sensor and explained the noise and told me that I was fine driving home. 0$ charged, polite, kind, and professional help, and we even were able to finish our vacation at the museum On the way home. read more

I went there to get my brakes checked, they said I needed a new brake line, a new rotor, and new brakes because they all were bad + labor. I lifted my car, took off my back tire and changed my brake line that was ripped open and it cost me $23. They tried to charge me $906. read more

Worst service ever!! @ 130295 miles, diagnosed with coolant leak at water pump and oil leak at oil pan. Midas Columbus IN changed them @ $594. After 5 months, found same issues @ 133250 miles. Firestone Greenwood IN replaced them both costing again $600. Invoices from both service centers attached in Google Reviews. Wasted a lot of time and money. Should have read through the reviews before taking my car there. Please take your car at your own risk. Instead of fixing things, they are more pertinent towards breaking more. Never stepping again at any Midas store. If you see this place, run away from these con men as fast you can!! read more

Beware! I have worked in a few shops and I would not recommend the shop to anyone. I have lost days of work due to the fact that I had to keep coming in here for the same issue that they were supposed to fix 5 times and they also installed the wrong parts to a different car on mine, the shop manager is not knowledgeable of cars whatsoever which is a bad sign from the beginning. Now my car is in Ohio at a specialist getting the motor replaced thanks to Midas and they wouldn't even refund my money. There are plenty of other shops to go to instead of here. read more

Called ahead to check if they had time for oil change. They said I can come in and they're not busy. Went in, wanted for 15mins while the dude was working on the computer. Then tells me it will take 2-3hrs for oil change because there are customers ahead of me. Asked me to come back. Really? Maybe didn't want to work on oil change on Saturday? What was the point of calling, wasted a trip. Should have requested me to schedule an appointment. They don't want business, they want your money$$$ read more

I've had work done on my mustang 3 times within about a years time. This place has exceeded my expectations. Excellent customer service. Reasonable pricing. Jim, Matt and Tyler were especially helpful. Not sure why this location is getting bad reviews. I'm assuming they must have had a different crew or management when the bad reviews were left. Do not go to the Midas in Columbus Indiana! Had my vehicle there 4 times for the same issue, a break booster. Never fixed it and I was stranded 3 times. Tried to tell me the ABS pump also needed replaced. Took vehicle to dealership and the fixed the faulty booster that Midas had put in and had to replaced the rotors since they had warped from the breaks continually locking up. Nothing wrong with the ABS pump. If that was not bad enough, the service manager was yelling at me and pointing his finger in my face. STEER CLEAR! read more

I wish I could put negative stars this place is a joke I took my BMW there for work on my brakes and the guy that was running the place I mean a kid said yea I can take your wheels off without damaging them, and about an hour later get a car hey it's done I go pick it up then take it home to clean all the grease off my wheels and there it was impact had damaged my wheels horrible, I then called and went back where a Nate the district manager had the nerve to tell me that I did it, I said I put those on brand new with a ratchet and extensions that's caused by impact flying off with the lug nut, I then call there office manager Jacky who's a joke called 10 times to only take to her twice. I will continue to bash this company for there mistakes don't say you can take them off and not damage them then when you do don't admit fault.
