My go-to place for my out-of-warranty car(s). I've found the prices to be competitive and if you search for coupons on their site, better than competitive. This is a full service repair center. I certainly found found value in their lifetime brake warranties. I've witnessed a few changes in ownership and management through the years, but none compromised integrity of the brand, all were good. The manager Don is very helpful. He will always explain a diagnosis, recommended repair, and the reason behind the repair method. Many times, if repair work is out of price range, he'll try to think of a plan B (circumstances can vary). In my experiences, he has gone above and beyond. Also, he will never forget to thank you for your business. Hours can be limited compared to other places but they do have a drop box and they will always correspond and acknowledge receipt of your car the next day. Same goes with web-based appointments. As I said before, I take my other cars under warranty to the certified service centers but I like this place because it has that small town feel. I had a quote from my dealer of $899-$1200 to replace my muffler and pipe. Luckily they suggested I go to this Midas because it would be cheaper. They got my in immediately and did the repair for $190. They just had to weld some brackets. The dealer doesn't do repairs like that so they would've had to replace the whole thing. We have been going here with at least 5 cars for the last few years but the last year has been horrible quality. I have a mechanic friend that used to come here and he directed me to Midas. I was told by him recently that the shop has a new owner the quality is poor now. I recently learned that they worked on my Toyota Prius only later to tell me that this is not their forte. I took to Toyota and they said Midas removed needed parts and they had things zip-tied together under my car. The car is now ruined. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Midas. Very frustrated as I like Don who works the front but the quality is awful. read more

Not many times do you encounter a company, and in this case, the 0wner of a business, that goes out of his way to do something RIGHT! A few months ago, I bought a 2018 KIA Soul from Hertz. While it had a little over forty-two thousand miles on it, I knew the car was in good shape. It wasn't until a few months later that I learned how great it was. The car was making a little brake noise when I backed up. I thought that with over forty-two thousand miles, the car was due for brakes. I took the car into the Midas store located on route 14 in Crystal Lake, IL, for an inspection. The owner took the car for a test ride and then returned it to the shop for a closer inspection. After a few minutes, the owner returned to tell me that my car had all new brakes and tires. They also did a routine inspection of all the fluids and adjusted the tire pressure. Me and my brother came in not long ago for an alignment but weren't able to get it done that day, but thats not the problem. My problem is that on our way there, the brakes were completely fine! Never had a single problem. But after leaving, the breaks wouldnt work. They completely gave out and we were almost put in some extreme danger. We've been told by another place that our breaks were fine and didn't need any work, but if thats the case, how could they just give out like that? It is an old car but, like i said, we were told that they were fine. I don't trust this place and would never use it again. I would never recommend this place. read more

$32 for a basic oil change is ridiculous! I even had a $19.99 coupon.($15 off) They were also supposed to assess if tires were to be rotated. Instead they told me about several other upsell things. They charge $4.99 for extra quart of oil. Last time it was $2.99. Then there's the shop parts charge and disposal fee. Neither of those was ever charged before. The previous owner got the 5 star reviews. This one...not so much. I will not be back. read more

Was initially impressed. Car maintenance seemed of quality. But the REBATE processing has been utter hell. Midas needs to de-link from Synchrony, for their line-of-credit/rebate offer processing. Too much time and inefficiency in tracking the rebate. Also, Midas prices are higher than competitors (e.g., Firestone tires and service were generally $200 less). I would recommend staying away. I had been going there for over 25 years under the previous owner Mr. Shapur who was honest and straight forward. Several times he looked at my vehicles and said everything was fine when it was, no charge. The new owner/manager quoted me a price of $1,200.00 for brakes. What a joke. I've owned cars for over years 45 and know a little bit about cars. I told him no thanks and took my car and ran out of that place never to be seen there again. Buyer beware! Avoid at all cost. You have countless options. Midas should revoke their franchising license and sell it to someone else that's not a con man before they tarnish Midas's name. read more

I recently had an issue with my car that was quoted elsewhere to cost $1500. They were going to completely remove and replace my exhaust system. I decided to get a second quote and tried out Midas... it ended up being $500, and the whole thing was taken care of 3 hours after I dropped the car off. Never have I ever had a repair that large take so little time! Also, the employees are personable and are willing to give sound advice. This is now my new repair shop! read more

Their free inspections are a joke. Spent not even 15 min on my car, even told me they took for a test drive, car never left the shop. I was willing to have whatever was needed repaired especially because the inspection was free but now some other shops going to be getting my business. read more

You can tell the owner, who is usually at the desk, has a lot of integrity and is looking out for the interests of a long term relationship, not a quick buck. This used to be my preferred location until I had to replace a muffler under warranty. When they put the exhaust system together originally, they welded all the components together. When I needed the muffler replaced under warranty at a later date, low and behold, it cost more $$ under warranty because they welded the parts together. The Midas in McHenry replaced everything including the muffler & tailpipe at a cheaper cost than having the muffler replaced under warranty! NEVER let a muffler shop "WELD" your muffler to your tailpipe or exhaust system. Its a sure "Gottcha" ! read more

Not honest and trustworthy in my opinion. When doing a brake job they told me some of the older components can be reused without any problem and charged me $200 for the job. When I had brake problem again after 8 months, they told me the entire brake job has to be redone because of reuse of the older components and other things I did not understand. Ended up paying another sum of money. In my opinion they make you come back again and again to make money. I am not going here ever again. read more

I have used it both of my cars, the service has been friendly and thorough. They gave the cars complete inspections and the services they recommended were very reasonable.
