Went in today to get my brakes replaced and a terrible noise looked at. Jeff was awesome. He told me what the problem was immediately after looking at it. (Ended up being a hub bearing). Told me how much it would cost and what needed to be done to fix it. No pressure to fix anything or pay extra for anything. Would recommend this shop to any one. Avoid this location: Went in for an oil change/tune up. Was told I needed a new alternator and manifold intake. My car wouldn't start after they were done with the oil change/tune up. The mechanic jumped my vehicle. When I sat in my car the AC was no longer working. I asked the mechanic what had happened to my AC. His explanation was that a sensor had shut off my AC to keep the Engine cool. I told them I would bring the car the following day to get serviced again. I took my vehicle to another mechanic who discovered two wires had been unplugged on my vehicle which caused the AC to shut off!! I called the manager at this location who was the lady who assisted the mechanic with my vehicle. She was no help. I do not recommend bringing your vehicle here. I needed to have my spark plugs and valve cover gaskets changed on my car and was having trouble finding a good mechanic in the area. I read some reviews of this place and decided to give it a try. I worked with Erick and he gave me a quote that was below what I expected so I brought the car in to him. The work ended up taking much longer than anticipated but Erick was great to work with and was never shy about telling me that it would take longer than expected. I like to work with honest people. They completed the work and made sure it was right and didn't charge me for the extra time. I will be bringing all of my auto repair work here from now on. By the way, I'm also a mechanic but don't have the time/space/tools/volition to do my own work anymore, so I know when something is done right. read more

When arriving at the Midas store on 11/7 I notified them that I heard a loud clunking noise coming from my vehicle and I needed an oil change and my fluids checked. After inspecting the noise, they said I needed upper and lower control arms and shock absorbers. I asked them SPECIFICALLY, how bad did I need them as they quoted me $900. I said I was a Lyft driver (similar to Uber) and that if it was dangerous because of the rust and noise, I would get it fixed, but only if their opinion stated it was dangerous. Technician Julian said, "I mean, with more wear and tear its just going to get louder". I told him I could handle the noise, I just didnt want to get in a wreck with passengers or risk my own accident. So after he said it was only going to get louder in time, I decided to simply pay for the oil change and power steering/coolant flush. The very next day I was Lyfting, my tire SNAPS. We hit the pavement pretty hard. Thank GOD I was not on an express way because I would have absolutely got plowed into going 80 mph. I was however in a road full of construction, down to two lanes, blocking traffic, in an unsafe area. To give you an idea of how unsafe, when an officer got there he said he didnt want me waiting for a tow truck alone (once my passenger got another Uber), and he says "look here, a crack pipe"....nice place for my Lower control arm and ball joint to snap!! Interesting, I was just as Midas and asked how dangerous it was. I get it to Midas on 11/9 after another place tried taking care of it and couldnt 11/8. The other place was charging me more than half way less than what Midas quoted the first time. Too bad they couldnt fix it. Once it gets to Midas, I call and spoke with manager Robert. I will give it to him, he did a lot of price chopping for me, talked to his technicians saying never promise a persons safety, and worked really hard on fixing the now MORE damaged vehicle than it was originally. Because of the impact there was a lot more that needed fixed. Unfortunately, Midas needed my car for Friday-Monday. Putting me out of work the day it happened through Tuesday when I picked it up. I had SIX days of lost wages, as my car is my job being a Lyft driver. When I went to pick it up, Brandon, the one behind the desk, thought it'd be funny to say "watch you drive away and another part falls off."....excuse me?? He says its a parts decision when it wants to die, they cant ever tell. BULL. For my tire to snap the very next day it must have looked VERY bad, and I could have paid for it the day I originally brought it in if he was honest with HIMSELF and ME. So I pay, $764, not much lower than the original $845 despite all the "deals" Robert says he gave me, because I was paying for more damage since the break down (avoidable had they fixed it day one). I leave Midas, begin Lyfting. It wasn't until I had to take a passenger to the airport that I noticed, when opening my trunk, they just through the old tire in the back (leaving no space for her suitcase) and I realized they put my spare on my vehicle. Why? Because upon impact, my rim was completely cracked. They didn't even tell me my spare was on. Nor that my rim was cracked. Thats another $200-$400 for a new rim!! After them already getting a Grand. (my first visit was over $200) This is absolutey ridiculous. I'm giving it a two because I know they worked hard, but after seeing the rim I am not pisssed. They put my life and anothers at risk, cost me 6 days pay, cost me more in damage, and didnt tell me I have a broken rim still needing fixed. I will never go to Midas again nor recommend anyone to go to this company. read more

Terrible customer service. I called to ask about a coupon on an oil change that is on the company website but apparently NO Midas will honor. When I asked for the corporate phone number they hung up on me. When I called back to ask for the manager, I discovered that it was in fact the Manager who hung up on me. I needed to get a bearing hub replaced and did not have time to leave my car somewhere for days and did not have extra money to pay for it. I called on a Wed. to get a quote. When I called the people were nice and gave me a price that was good for the work that was going to be done. I made and appointment for Saturday morning at 7am. I arrived and they took the car in and confirmed that it was the rear bearings and informed me that they could not get the part until 8am. They gave me a free shuttle ride to my house. They called around 9:15am and informed me that my car was ready. I thought my car was going to be there all day but it was done fast. On top of this I got to use a coupon I found online. A Very Happy Customer I received a coupon for a free multi-point inspection from Wes Blair at Russell & Smith Honda (a dealership). My car had over 100,000 miles, so I took it in for the free inspection. They recommended that I get the following services: rear brakes ($209), spark plugs ($189), drive belt ($179), transmission flush (?), fuel injector flush ($175). I decided to call around to get the best prices. I called several mechanics in the NW/Houston area (Ray Blackburn National Auto, My Mechanic, Sears, etc.), and the most reputable place w/ the best prices was Midas Total Car Care & Tires, located at 15410 North Kuykendhal. Other places were charging anywhere from $170 to $209 for rear brakes, $98 to $189 for spark plugs, $96 to $179 for drive belt, and $170 to $198 for a fuel injector flush. (I will get to Midas prices later on). The good thing about Midas is that they open at 7AM - and not 8AM like the other places. When I got there, Steve helped me out. He offered a free brake inspection, showed me the brakes, and told me that the rear brakes were still good and would be good for another 10,000 miles. He told me that he could change them, but there wasn't a need. Honestly, I was really surprised that he didn't try to change the brakes, since I told him beforehand that I went to the dealership and they told me that I needed them changed. After I agreed not to change the brakes, he gave me a quote on the other services. The platinum spark plugs (will last for 100,000 miles...not sure if other mechanics use high quality spark plugs) was $81, the drive belt was $115, and the fuel injector flush was $69.00 (they had a special). I had a coupon from one of those value-pack mailers, so I used it to receive an additional discount. Anyways, if you want to go to an honest place where they don't try to rip you off and will give you the best prices, go to Midas. Before I was taking my car to the dealership for major repairs, because I thought I could trust them. However, after reading online articles about service repairs and going to Midas, I don't think I can trust dealerships anymore. Lesson: Go to the dealership to get an inspection (if they offer it for free) and then take it to Midas for the best prices. (Make sure you visit their website and print-out the coupons before you go). I noticed other customers getting good deals, because I think Midas matches competitor coupons. I'm not 100% on this, but I overheard them matching another customer's coupon for a wheel alignment from a competitor. P.S. I forgot to mention why I didn't get a transmission flush that the Honda dealership recommended. I did a bit of research online and determined that the transmission flush really doesn't need to be cleaned unless there was a problem (maybe around 200,000 miles). I already got a transmission flush during my first round of scheduled maintenance (35,000 miles)....and yes, I got ripped-off because my car didn't need it at that time. (It was recommended by a different Honda dealership located on 610/Med Center). The thing that made me upset was the fact that the Honda dealership recommended the transmission flush even though I had gotten one 65,000 miles ago (which they didn't know because the Honda dealership databases aren't connected) and that it "looked" dirty. Apparently, the techs don't realize that the transmission fluid is usually that color according to the articles I read online. read more

That's who! At Midas (15410 N. Kuykendahl Rd.) These guys go out of their way to get you proper car care, customer care, and the best prices around in every car need available! My tires are top of line and I didn't have to spend half my months pay to have them ordered (same day) placed, and cleaned! I was so pleased! My car is safer and now so I'm I!
