I called this place yesterday to get a transmission diagnostic done. Their website says they do transmission work. The person I spoke with on the phone quoted me a price for the diagnostic. I had to pay a tow truck to take me there today. As soon as the tow driver was unloading my vehicle, the manager comes running outside and says to stop. His reasoning was that they don't do transmission work. I told him I am not there to get my transmission fixed. I was there for a diagnostic. He said that they can't do it because they can't fix it and the work they would need to do for a diagnostic would run over $500. That was 4x the amount they quoted me over the phone. So, I paid to have my vehicle towed there for nothing. And the. I had to pay again for a second tow to a reputable shop. It comes down to this was either an inept person handling the phone, or trying to gouge me for a lot more money. I do not recommend anyone going here for anything. Shockingly rude experience. While I was explaining a car issue to the service agent, the manager stormed out, interrupted me, and said in a condescending tone, "We are not selling sandwiches here." This was his way of saying he didn't need to hear my concerns. Unbelievable disrespectful behavior towards a customer. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Like many other reviews here, I feel that my service at Midas was a price gouging attempt. My right front tire was low on air even after filling it at a gas station, and Midas had the earliest available appointment to take a look at it. After bringing my car in, they told me all 4 of my tires were rotted and needed to be replaced. I have a 2018 car with 20k miles on it, so this seemed pretty unlikely to me. They then quoted me around $600 for a set of tires from a brand that I had never heard of (which is pretty steep). I was skeptical of their diagnosis, so I also made an appointment at Belle Tire on Grape Road later in the week. They washed off and inspected all of my tires, found the issue with my right front tire, fixed it, and sent me on my way, free of charge. They also told me there were no other issues with any of my tires. I would not recommend going to Midas. I would, however, recommend going to Belle Tire. read more

Tried to hold my car saying I couldn't take it home with me after having them just look at it, and tried to charge me 1500 for a single bar that's $100 online. Had to call police to get my car back because they weren't going to let me take my car. Don't bring your car here. read more

For years we always have good experience with Midas in Mishawaka, lately I took my son's car for oil change and some issues, Kelly was amazing, he assured us then found few things need to be taken care of, he was honest and tried his best not to do unneeded repairs, next day we took our other car that needed to look at, again KELLY took full care of it and we were happy with what he fixed. My car was serviced yesterday for brake pads, rotors, and calipers. These knuckleheads charged me $1200. They took advantage of me because I was a black man with an accent. After paying, I realized I had been taken advantage of. They charged me three times the price for parts, and I paid more than $450 for two hours of labor. Is there any way I can sue these people? Rear turn-signal bulb on my 2013 VW Passat went out. They charged $31 for the bulb, plus $42 for labor, plus $5.90 for "shop fees" (whatever that is,) plus tax--$82 TOTAL. Seemed high, but everything is goin' up. Next day, just out of curiosity, I called ZOLMAN AUTO in Granger. They said it would be "about $25 TOTAL, for bulb & labor; bring it in anytime; won't take long." (I asked him to repeat that, to be sure I got it right.) Guess Midas Mishawaka saw me comin'. But they won't see me again--unless they can make it right. read more

I most definitely recommend this location. I'm a hotshot driver and have to be on road to deliver shipments on time and so my brakes started making noise so I immediately call this location and they tell me to come by to check my vehicle out. Just an hour to close time they checked my vehicle and we're able to change my brake pads and rotors to get me back on the road. Even though it's a Saturday they stayed overtime to fix my truck. If you want a solution I totally recommend this place it's trailer friendly too lol. read more

I have to agree about all the other reviews about price gouging. I needed an oil change on my car, and also had the check engine light come on a couple days prior. I mainly needed the oil change, and just wanted them to plug in the scanner while the car was in to pull the codes, and did not want any service done regarding that. They definitely charged more than a normal oil change, $83 is pretty steep. However, they also charged me another $70 dollars to pull the codes that took a grand total of 5 minutes and hardly any work involved (it plugs in, reads the codes, and tells you what they are in the screen). You can borrow one from any auto parts store for free, so if I had known they were charging for something this trivial I would not have had them do it. read more

Went this morning at 8:15 am for a oil change and the bald guy at the front counter acted is if I had interrupted his morning by walking in- asked me if I had a appointment and I said no and he said we'll sit down and I will get to you when I can. There was one couple in there that pulled up seconds before me because their brakes were squeaking and he got their paperwork done then watched married with children- I sat there for another 7 minutes and he never spoke so I left. Guess the customer there is the only one they want/need. Take my money and business elsewhere! 12/7/16 Got a call from the new managers and they were mortified about the treatment I received and are making a effort to make me a satisfied customer. I stopped into this Midas with a question about my company vehicle. I waited 15 minutes to speak to the manager since she was on a phone call. No problem, I knew she speaking to another customer so I didn't mind waiting. When she was off the call, she immediately tried to avoid me. I ended up getting my question in and all she said to me was "No, we don't do that here". Ok, no problem, I'm new to the area so I asked her if she could recommend a place that could possibly help me. All she said was "nope" as she continued walking away from me. Now, I am not one to complain, even when it is well deserved, however, I found this to be extremely rude and unprofessional. She knew that I had been waiting to speak to her, yet she couldn't spare a moment of her time for me. I normally have a great experience at other Midas locations. This one beyond fell short. I hit a large pothole dirung a thunderstorm and snapped a lower control arm. Although it was a repair I could've done myself, i was away from home with access to my own tools so took the car to Midas. After paying $1400 in advance (a ridiculous price since the control arm itself could be obtained for under $200 online), i handed my card over and was told the car would be ready the next day. When I called to see if the car had been completed, I was told the car still wasn't ready as they found another broken part....the coil spring...and the additional cost was another $500. The spring also could be obtained for under $100 plus they charged me for a labor cost that was unnecessary as the spring would simply fall out once the broken control arm was removed. Now we're at Day Two and I've got a $2000 bill for a car that you could replace with another one for just about that cost. I've been working on Mercedes cars since high school and am fully aware of not only how long this repair takes but also the cost of the parts related to the repair. Both of those are greatly inflated in this instance. Not only will I never return to Midas, I will enthusiastically tell others to avoid the shops as well. Find a competent independent mechanic to repair your car.....DO NOT TAKE IT TO MIDAS unless you have more money than you can reasonably spend and time to burn. read more

Called ahead to have my transmission light diagnosed. Was told 9:30. Cool, so i come in a little early and was told they are swamped now b/c of a walk in that showed up right before I got there...ok, i said i will just set an appointment. Was then told, no just come back at 2:00 and we will get you in...ok, incovenient being in the middle of the day but fine..... Came back at 2:00, only to be told that "my best bet is to call a different company, and just google them and find them"......didnt even look at the car to find the cause.... Said could not rotate tires. I've had tires rotated many times on this vehicle. Did not post the oil change sticker on my vehicle but was charged for oil change, about 3 weeks later I checked oil and it was anything but clean. I suspect the oil not changed! Do go here! . These people are complete crooks with no integrity, and they do sloppy work. My car troubles were misdiagnosed, I was price gouged for a part I probably didn't need, and after multiple visits my problem wasn't fixed. Most of the service desk staff and managers come across as BS ers. Just to check, I called them this morning to request a quote for a brake job, and the estimate vwas almost double what another shop with a good reputation quoted me. And that's with my supposed lifetime warranty on pads. Consistently bad performance, my mistake that I didn't learn the lesson earlier. read more

Here for an overdue oil change... I'm wrong for that I know. However I go, and let them know I have a coupon for a $19.99 oil change and filter change. They pull the car back, and I'm waiting patiently, and the guy up front casually mentions how I have a $59 oil change bc of the 0W20 oil I need and how whoever changed my oil before should have let me know that but he's not doing it wrong. Yes, he actually told me what he wasn't going to do, and I've been driving my car and owning cars long enough to know what is and isn't ok. I don't say anything, bc I'm fine biting the bullet knowing this will be my last time coming here. Then he comes in from the garage, dramatically sits down next to me with this bolt, and begins to describe to me how when they pulled this from my oil pan the threads came with it and it's somehow the LAST place that changed my oil's fault. NOW he tells me I need to replace my oil pan, and the only thing he says he can do is put in an oversized plug, which he says may leak. His approach SEEMS nice but he's passive aggressive and clearly about making money as opposed to delivering decent service. read more

I am writing in regards to the Midas located at 215 West University Drive Mishawaka, IN 46545. Several years ago I purchased new brakes from this location, they initially put on the wrong pads and I was getting terrible squeaking I returned and they put on a different set of pads, problem solved. This was two (2) times the brakes were removed from my vehicle. Over this weekend I was rotating my tires and doing a lube job, I noticed the front pads were getting thin, the rear were OK. I took the truck back to the shop where I got my brakes and told them I just needed the front pads replaced. I was called and told that whoever put the lift kit on my truck didn't put the correct brake lines on and I needed to replace the brake lines or it would not be covered under warranty. I explained that no one had put a lift kit on the truck; I bought it new from the dealer as it sits. He said I could come in and he would have a technician explain the problem to me. He said after I got the new brake lines they could replace the front and back brakes, (back brakes were fine, he just kept saying they would need to replace them) I told him to just replace the front brakes like I had originally ask and I would take care of the rest. He said that they could not replace the brakes until the brake lines were replaced. I again ask him to just replace the front brakes under the warranty; he said that they could not replace them under warranty unless I got the brake lines replaced. I had Midas do brake work on my truck twice and no one ever told me about the issue with the brake lines, I was sold brakes with a lifetime warranty and expected when it was time for new brakes it would be a simple matter. The supervisor at the shop at the time said the reason I was having the issue I was having was because of the short break lines, I explained that I was not having any issues and had just noticed the brake pads on the front were getting thin, I have owned this truck for 13 years and have had work done on the brakes and front end several times, I have never been told that I had short brake lines. I expected Midas to honor it's warranty and replace the pads, if there was a problem with the break lines and it wasn't noticed the first time, that's your bad not mine. If you made a mistake you should eat the cost not me. I use my truck for business and this little fiasco has cost me several hours and my loyality to Midas, I have called the district manager for the Mishawaka Midas and left her a voice mail. I used to be a General Manager for LensCrafters and have dealt with warranty issues myself. Our underlying rule was if we made a mistake the customer should not have to pay for it. I am not asking for new brake lines or a anything other than what I paid for, a lifetime warranty A followup: The district manager called me up, she told me there was other things in the file that was wrong, need to replace calipers, and rotors as well as brake lines, she said the file said my brake line was kinked, that's why it was short. (?) None of this was told to me at the shop. She said she would give me the brakes and the warranty would be done, Hella way to run a business. This shop is under new management and the professionalism is second to none. I was a walk in and they fit me right in. In my line of business time is of the essence. The management there was very friendly and professional. Took my vehicle in, had his techs diagnose the problem, relayed the info to me and bam I was up and running in no time. Because of his caring attitude and his mechanic's professionalism I will definitely come back for my future needs. Its nice to know its a one-stop shop and the new management cares. read more

I had a brake job done here 3000 miles ago. They tell me it needs to have the brakes replaced again at a cost of $450.00. I feel that this should be done at no charge because they put inferior pads on originally when I paid for premium pads. The store manager refused to handle it as warranty, so I called corporate. I was told that there were no decision makers at corporate that work weekends and they will call me back next week. I need my car back, so I have no choice but to pay for it. My car battery died during the extreme cold weather and it was difficult to find a battery around town. After a jump start by AAA I had a new one installed at Midas Mishawaka, where I found out I was ripped off big time. They charged me almost twice the going price at other shops. When I pressed them on this they told me batteries were in short supply and offered me $25, which doesn't come close to how much they overcharged me. They took advantage of an extreme situation and are certainly not a friendly neighborhood shop. Don't bring your car here if you really need help! read more

I take my car in today to get an idea of what is causing a slight squeak, anticipating that I may need rear brakes cause my brother replaced the fronts only a few months prior. The tech gets it a test drive, then pulls it into the repair bay and begins inspecting it. I have my 3 year old son with me napless and beginning to get restless, so we go out and play in the grass. 15 mins later the salesman(Kevin) calls me in to give me the news. He says the pads and rotors all look good and he just recommends caliper slide service on fronts and rears to solve my issues, at $54.26 I said yes cause that is a cheap resolution. I was given the time frame of up to 30 min before the work will be complete, I say cool paid the cash then walked with my son to Menards to kill some time. 35 min later I get back expected to grab my keys and go, but the salesman(Kevin)says he has bad news, my right rear pad is broke in half, even after his "inspection" when he said they were all good, almost new looking pads, that I brought it in like that. warned me of the risk hazard of now driving without a pad there would do to my car or the safety of my kid. Kevin proceeded to give me a new quote of $270 to replace. I walked away and called a parts store to get a real quote of how much pads for my car normally cost, which was $10 - $25 depending on size and brand. I did not bring much cash with me thinking i was just getting a quote, now unable to even drive my car these idiots are blackmailing me to just get the F out of here. I said No, put my shit back together and i'm going somewhere else. minutes later thinking about the risk, i'm not willing to take. At this point my son is tired and falling asleep, we both want to leave and get away from the morons, so call in a favor and have someone to come up so my son at least be warm and take a nap. I call my reference (who happens to be a manager with Midas in Benton Harbor((who also happens to be the mother of my son who is now having to sleep in the back seat of someones car)) and she was NOT happy. 5 minutes later the District Manager Rob, who has been the only one in the building who actually seemed to care and was trying to find out himself what the hell these jackasses are doing, came out to apologize, told me that she has taken care of all costs and the car will be properly fixed in only few short minutes. WTF, is this how you guys do business? that was my first and ONLY time I will come back or tell a friend or family member to go. Rob is the only positive thing I can say about the situation, he only came in with his wife on his day off to fill up his tires or something then caught wind of this, and still only one to apologize and shake my hand but honestly his was the only hand I would have shook! I had such a great experience Monday while at Midas! I went in for an oil change and asked them to look to see why my car was making such an awful sound. They were busy, but got my oil changed in a very timely manner and then located the noise problem, trouble shooted to see the best way to fix it. I guess they were trying to charge me for three hours of labor while I could do it in less than an hour? Extremely over priced. I showed up at 4:30 on a Saturday because I had a coupon for a $19.99 oil change/ tire rotation. The open sign was turned off but store hours said open til 6, door was unlocked so I went on in (my first mistake). Immediately, the guy at the desk says I have to have the synthetic oil, it's a "liability" if he puts the conventional oil in. So that's $64.99 but he can take off $10 with the coupon. I ask if that still includes a tire rotation and he says "only if you need it, we'll measure them to see" okay it's been close to 2 years since I've had that done, so I know I need a tire rotation, and I tell him that. So they pull in my car and tell me that I only have 2 out of 9 screws in my oil pan, and they can't provide any. Okay?? Then they tell me that since my newer tire has a different tread length than the other 3, they can't rotate the tires. I tell him that doesn't make any sense and he says "yeah I know, it's weird". So I'm obviously not coming back here, but I still pay the bill, did I mention I got charged $59.99 for a b.s. oil change with no tire rotation? Last time I checked $10 off of 64.99 is not 59.99, not to mention that's extra $8 in taxes they tacked on. Wish I read the reviews before stopping here. The folks at this Midas came to the rescue of my daughter who had an automated door jam in my van and the door would not shut. They were very helpful and worked on the door until the jam was released. On top of that, they didn't even charge her! I have been going to this location for several years. With 4 cars in the family, on a pretty regular basis from basic oil changes to major repairs. One of the repairs Ford dealership couldn't even seem to get corrected, but Midas technicians did. We have felt they have been upfront and honest in their dealings with us. Recently we had a repair that was misdiagnosed and something was replaced and paid for that was not the issue. Went back in, the issue was re-evaluated, the problem found and fixed at no cost to me. The manager, Jeremy and technician Oscar were very apologetic about the misdiagnosis and made it their mission to ensure my satisfaction and continued business. Will definitely return and continue to recommend this location. read more

I visited Midas for an oil change a year ago. I left my car there and went to do more shopping. While I was away they called me to inform me that my power steering was leaking and the entire piece would need changes. He said it would cost $1400 and he could get started right away. I told him no thanks I don't have that money and I have a local mechanic that fixes my things. I headed back to pick up my car and he said that my power steering would end up going out soon and that the oil was pouring out. I told him I find it odd because I have not had any issues. He questioned if my power steering was low or I struggled steering sometimes (never have). He said he finds it odd but we can look at it again when I come back for an oil change (NEVER WENT BACK). Like I said it has been a year since I was there, still have no power steering issues, my mechanic says there is no any signs of a leak at all. I just felt the need for a review because I worry how many other people they tried scamming out of tons of money. I will NEVER do business there again. read more
