Went in for brakes. Sam Makki told me I would need brakes, Rotors, Caliper, new tires and alignment. I got the brakes, rotors and caliper done but then the manager Sam Makki and his mechanic(s) told me I needed a new Power Cylinder and Brake Booster which was over $2,000 worth of work. I declined and told them I would have the dealer look at it. Well the dealership said it was NEITHER of these and just needed to be programmed which they did for free and would've did for Midas techs as well if they drove my truck to any Chevy dealership. read more

I'll just start with customer service from the Guys at the desk they were nice and polite no problem there. Now i have been coming to this location for some time never had a problem until yesterday. I took my car in for an oil change the inspection is done he comes back with estimate total and things that needs to be replaced totaling $743 right that includes two rear tires and air and cabin filters. No thank you I will handle that later. Ok oil change comes $75 ok on my way. Next day I'm handling the other issues that was spoke on go to get the air filter changed Guy opens the hood says well first you don't have coolant , I get out the car there is not one drop in the casket i said but just got an oil change less than 24 hours why is it completely empty? I had to pay for the shop to fill the coolant casket up because Midas who I just paid $75 didn't top it off but you knew I needed all this other work. I'm very upset at the situation this could've a costly mistake for me because I'm sure Midas would have not taken the blame for it. read more

Do not get work done at this shop. If you're a mechanic, you'll understand why after reading this review. If you're not a mechanic, show this review to one and they will tell you not to go to this shop. Midas #6179 has been my go-to for oil changes for YEARS. After I totaled my last car, Midas was the first place I took my new car. I really only had oil changes done here, but I got a couple quotes from them every now and then if I was having issues. Larry and Julius made me feel like a regular, which if you're a female that is not familiar with cars, you know how nerve racking dealing with mechanics can be. I even kept their business cards in my wallet to recommend this shop specifically to all my friends and family. So this past Saturday when my car seemed to have blown up under the hood, I thought it obvious to tow my car to Midas! A mechanic agreed to do a full engine inspection, and Julius (manager) got back to me within hours like they usually do. One of my trans lines blew and drained my trans fluid. We talked with Julius and agreed to replace all three lines with OEM parts. It was Father's Day weekend so there was no rush of any kind on our end. Great business with Midas as usual...until we picked the car up. Whenever I get work done under my hood, I always bring my dad with me to double check. I'm glad he was with me because when we went to pick the car up Monday morning we found absolutely NO OEM PARTS, but just RUBBER TUBING as replacement for my transmission coolant lines. Julius' first statement was "those parts were discontinued." If they were discontinued, WHY would you quote us and agree to replacing OEM parts, and WHY on earth wouldn't you at least call to tell me that? After further discussion his story changed to "They weren't discontinued. They just weren't available the day of, but they are available today if you'd want us to put them on." Obviously with trust broken, we no longer want anyone at this shop working on my car. So after paying $814 initially that we couldn't get back, Julius gave us the OEM parts for no charge. We accepted the correct parts knowing my dad will replace the lines. He was a mechanic for 35 years. He could've done the job in the first place, but opted to pay the price for the convenience/reliability of a shop. As my dad and I are waiting for the correct parts to arrive, we take pictures of the tubing under the hood. We noticed that because it's rubber it will be constantly bouncing around, and it's touching hot metal at multiple different spots that could possibly burn a hole through the tube. We also noticed we could only see TWO TUBES. We were CHARGED FOR THREE trans cool lines. When questioned about the number of lines, Julius was not able to definitively tell us if the third line was replaced. He obviously just let this mechanic do whatever he wanted, and signed off on it. Over and over again, Julius just kept telling us "it's fixed! We fix cars! That's what we do! It's fixed!" But he doesn't understand that the car may be temporarily fixed, however it's the principle of the situation. WE AGREED TO AND PAID FOR SOMETHING THAT WE DID NOT GET, AND THEY TRIED TO GET AWAY WITH IT! This would've been handled if Julius simply called me on Saturday and told me he didn't have the parts. I keep asking myself "why didn't he just call me and ask??!" He also didn't even let us know when I picked up the keys and paid. He let us walk right out the door. If I hadn't had my dad with me, I 100% would have been downright taken advantage of. Just drove away with tubes and no knowledge of it, until they inevitably gave out. The most frustrating part is the lack of accountability. Julius made the situation so much worse by taking no accountability, and constantly gaslit us that we should just be happy it's fixed and running. He had so many opportunities to make this situation right, but he only continued to make it worse. Julius blamed the mechanic Steve(n/?), trying to get off on the technicality that he wasn't the mechanic that worked on my car. Even my dad said using tubes is something he would consider as a temporary option on HIS OWN car if he was in a pinch, but that's absolutely not what you pay a shop for. This whole review doesn't even mention all of the other little moments of dishonesty that Julius made while poorly navigating this situation. I feel extremely taken advantage as a 21 college student. It feels worse since Midas took the time to really make sure I was comfortable over the years and wouldn't question their work. Little did they know my dad questions everyone's works, and now I know why. I rarely leave reviews, good or bad, but I feel horrible knowing that there may be many other customers getting taken advantage of also. I will update this review depending on how corporate rectifies this situation within the 72 hours time frame they gave us. You would think the car was broke down but nope it's very drivable and we only brought it in for a tune-up...ridiculous. I took it to another shop and it was repaired for $279...imagine that. I also so noticed that there was a lot of customer money shaming and pushing for everyone to apply for financing. One customer was even asked how much money they had and then was scoffed at and told $1000 wouldn't get them anything like seriously so unprofessional. I guess $1000 wouldn't get them anything since every quote I heard was well over $1000. $3400/$5800 and my $7298...these are dealership prices. My engine was overheating and my coolant fluid vanished as soon as I filled it. It took me an hour just to drive 5 miles home because of how often I had to pull over and turn my car off and wait. I usually go to the Midas in Madison Heights, who are great, but this location was closer to me. Julius at the front desk is a breath of fresh air. Being a female and getting your car fixed is intimidating, at least for me, but he made sure I was comfortable and asked clear questions to better understand what was going on with my car. He even ordered me a Lyft to get back home! While I did have to drop a good amount of money for my situation, the staff made sure that the job was done properly and not rushed, even if it meant keeping my car overnight, which is what ended up happening. Called yesterday for a quote on tires, he asked how many, I said a set he then said 140. I asked if that included installation because it sounded like a low number and he said no, so I asked and he said that install was 19.99. I got home talked it over with my partner, decided that great price we would jump on. So I called back and got it set up to be done today. I get here and drop the car off, he then tries to sell me on an alignment and potential other front end services (pending a front end inspection) I get a call telling me how much all the work would be, I said just h the tires for me, they said okay. I come to pick up my van with 4 new tires expecting to pay about 150 plus tax. I look on the desk and see my work order with a total over 700 on it and I tell them immediately that isn't going to work. So the answer is to put my old tires back on and I'll find new ones elsewhere. Well then I am told that one of my tires is so bad they can't put it back on the van. So now I'm being forced to pay for at least one tire..... They do end up giving me a discount on a pair of tires when I told them I only had 180 to spend. But that also required to me sit here still after already waiting when I got off work even tho I dropped my van off about 3 hours earlier and the person who walk in in front of me was quoted 45 to an hour for service. read more

I went to this location and I guy named Julius told me " Get The FUCK out of my store I do NOT want your MONEY I will not work on you vehicle" I was not rude to him until he got rude with me and I said " I'm going to a corporate location and I spoke to the Manager at the corporate location he then told me that I was not in their system but I went out to get the Receipt to show that I did have work done on my Vehicle. Their attitude changed and said that they will fix my vehicle because the warranties on the parts the fixed. The corporate location took Copies of the receipt. I was very impressed with the quality of service I received at this Midas location. I got my car towed to Midas after the brakes stopped working mainly because I live less than a mile away and I am so glad I did. I called ahead of time to let them know I was coming and spoke with Julias. He was extremely kind and told me he would be ready when the truck pulled up. When I got there he greeted me with a smile and made me feel comfortable, as a female, this is extremely important. I dropped my car off on Saturday right before close and my car was done Monday by 11am. I was blown away at how quickly they serviced my car. In the past, I have had to wait almost a week at other repair shops. While they were repairing the brake line they noticed the flex pipe was cracked and offered to replace it. When I declined they weren't pushy or aggressive, they simply said when I am ready to replace it they would be happy to do it. I thought the price was reasonable especially for the quick turn around. I picked my car up Monday after work, my car wasn't covered in grease or dirt, it was exactly how I left it. I will definitely be back in the future and will recommend to family and friends they do the same. read more

I can only speak for their customer service and oil change + tire rotation service. Found Midas through an online promotion regarding an oil change with complimentary tire rotation, fluid checks, brakes, and so forth. All for $26.95. Such a great deal! This location is conveniently located on Greenfield Rd and 11 Mile right behind the gas station. Lots of parking nearby. You enter the office and tell them what you need; they will take your keys and drive the car into the work area themselves. The worker up front was very friendly, kind, professional, and prompt to get my service right away. Within 30-40 minutes, they were done servicing my car, and I was good to go. I highly recommend this place for quick oil changes and great service. I cannot speak for the other services provided here at this location. read more

I just wanted to say that I finally got my car running good really good & smooth with the engine light off I got it repaired by honest car mechanics my friends who charge me less than $300 dollars & it was so nice that I showed my mechanic friends receipts & the work "Midas" did for me or pretended to do for me & they told me that the stuff "Midas" supposedly did for my car was very very very unnecessary & didn't need it done on my car, I am so happy I finally got my car serviced by honest legitimate mechanics & I want to say "Midas" is not honest at all & I really hope "Midas" continue doing what they are doing to hard working customers & the Better Business Bureau find out about "Midas" very shady business practices & come down on your businesses. read more

I have never written a review before but I am livid. I took my almost-new car to get its first oil change since the dealership. 2 days later, on its first drive on the highway after this, I heard a terrible sound which ended up being the skid plate falling off and acting like a shovel. I took it to a nearby Midas shop who confirmed that the skid plate damaged on reinstallation and bent. This was caused by them damaging the front fascia when trying to install the skid plate, ultimately ripping out the bolts in a ham-fisted attempt to reattach the skid plate. I get it. Bad things happen. But what absolutely infuriated me was when the second mechanic immediately asked me to come take a look at the car. He pointed out that the oil filter was NOT NEW and definitely NOT REPLACED which renders a full synthetic oil change useless. More proof of shoddy workmanship was the fact that the oil pan was absolutely coated in old oil. When I contacted the owner asking for a refund on the oil change, he refused and has not been in contact since. It just blows my that this kind of deception seems to be considered acceptable by this locations owner. A simple oil change is now costing more than I imagined as far as time and money. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this location and honestly feel like they need to be investigated. read more

Midas completely screwed me over Quoted me $2,000 ended up having me pay over $5,000 and taking four times more time then what they quoted me I brought my car in with a busted engine after I called and they said they could fix it up for me. It took them a month and a half to fix, after they quoted me 10 days, and they never called to say it would take longer, I had to call them up for each update, and they repeatedly promised me it would be done, the date passed and they wouldn't call. Ultimately they over charged me for a different engine then I originally asked for, forced me to rent a car for to get to and from work because they took such a long time to finish. I could say they could be a little cheaper. Why do I have to pay almost $200 just for them to check what's wrong with my car when I already had to pay 50 just for them to look at my car. And that's just a service fee 200 for the fucking service fee. If I actually got my car fixed for 300 that's $500, I don't have just for brakes where you could go to somewhere that's a little bit cheaper. I spent $50 just for them to tell me what I didn't ask them to look at just to give me a estimate of what's wrong with my fucking car please no I did not ask him to look at anything else with the brakes. They looked at the whole car and remove shit and I had to pay for them doing the labor that's a good $30 at most but it's fine they just scammed me out of $50 just to tell me that my car is ass and to overcharge me for something I could get done elsewhere for half the price of whatever the hell they are charging me. If you want brakes or an oil change try going somewhere else because this place is not it do not go to a place like this. They are too expensive and less you have the financial stability it don't care about spending your money then go ahead, but in other words, if you're a person like me who likes to save their money, I prefer you go elsewhere. 1st problem I took my car into Midas for what I thought was just my breaks and found out I had to get my breaks rotors and calipers done they charge me over 1400 dollars just to take it to the other Midas on Telegraph to repair the work that was done months later now I'm giving them a second chance on greenfield call and ask if they had the serpentine belt and water pump they said yes get my car towed there they stated how do you know I said I just left the bay at valvoline my belt is broke in the front seat and my water pump locked up and they told me someone still needed to look at it but they pulled a 2017 Hyandi sante fe in for there breaks while I'm still waiting and they been could have looked at my car told me so my plans could have been made this was unprofessional read more

Julius the Service Manager, Fred who replaced the front rotors and pads, Funsoh who replaced the fuel vapor storage canister, and Victor - every one a gentleman: polite, courteous, friendly, professional and honest (an extremely rare commodity in this business). They are the very best and I do not say this lightly. I am almost 70 and have been to a lot of shops - big dealers and small family/individually owned shops. Not a one of them comes close. My only regret is that I did not find them long ago. Henceforth, this Midas at Greenfield and 11 Mile in Southfield is the shop I will go to and I will recommend them to anybody who speaks to me about getting work done on a vehicle. I was desperate because my air conditioning was not working and I had just spent around $50 for someone to take a look at it and fill it with freon only to find the next day it's not working again. Pat and I think Mike ( I'm sorry I forgot your name) were so kind and helpful. They explained the process of how they actually are suppose to go about and empty the tank then fill with freon etc. and they also put dye in the freon so that if there was a leak they could find the source. Had me come in again to assess the situation and diagnosed my shitty car then! I really appreciate their help and kindness and the fact that I was totally comfortable with them as I could just tell they were not going to scam me. Any problems I have I will come back here. We have met with the owner and he does not stand by his service and is not trust worthy.
