I came in for an oil change and was worried because i had the check engine light on my car. I came to Midas to have it looked at first to make sure everything was ok. Midas checked the engine code to let me know this was a minor code and it was something that was easily taken care of at my dealer. They did not try to rip me off and force me to buy anything i didn't need to. I got my oil changed and was on my way. My car is fine and i will exclusively take my car to Midas any time i need my oil changed. They are honest. They are non biased and they are super helpful. read more

Took my car in because I could hear water slushing under floor and carpet wet. Was told $39 to check for leak. I was told leak caused by ac, it needed flushing so I paid for it ($74.13). Car sat without driving for the weekend and it rained, water still slushing around and trunk and entire interior of car floor is wet. Was told to bring it back and they will do a full check which meant they would run water over the car and somebody would sit in it and observe. I paid an additional $213 for them to tell me that I had damage to my trunk and that's causing water to get in as well as weather strips needed to be replaced, however they would not be able to do any repairs until I got the body repaired. I asked them to at least get the water out, which they said they would do. When I went in for my car they showed me the weather strips that were missing or damaged but no damage to the body, I bought the car new and it has never been in an accident. Water was still slushing around they would not remove the seat and vacuum up the water. I had to take it home, remove the seats and flooring, unplug the plugs on the floor and drain the water. Yes, me a 57 year old woman did what your employees couldn't or was unwilling to do. I am not wealthy, my car is a manual 2015 Nissan Versa , I can't afford to give away money and not get anything in return. read more

I had my uncle bring his F-150 to this Midas for a brake vibration. Paul Smith the service manager tried to lie to my uncle and give him false automotive information to trick him into a repair that is unnecessary. Then rudely kicked me out of his store when he couldn't explain to me how struts can cause a rotor to warp & refusing to service the brakes because he wants to sell $3000 worth of non-urgent work. This behavior is disgusting and disgraceful to the automotive community as I am a certified technician myself. I don't recommend anyone to go to this Midas. read more

They currently have a Full synthetic oil change for $49.00, so I called to see if I could get my car in. They were fully booked, but said that I could walk in and wait. I brought my car in and was helped by Paul. He was very attentive and made sure to disinfect the counter area after each customer. The oil change was completed within 45 minutes and the other younger staff member in the office was very friendly and courteous as well. The full synthetic oil will allow you to go about 7,500 miles before you have to get another oil change, so this is a great deal. Even at the regular price of around $70, I think the convenience and friendliness of the staff is worth going back. read more

Incompetence at its finest. Used to love this location for the European man who took care of my BMW and went the extra mile for me but now it's full opposite. I scheduled an appointment for a free oil change via the free synthetic oil change coupon I received in the mail. I show up for my appointment and I'm not even scheduled. Then I find out my coupon was no good and they try to charge me $203 for an oil change. Highly don't recommend this white trash establishment. Unprofessional and 3 hours for an OIL CHANGE. My fiancé brought in our car for an appointment I scheduled for 1:30 pm. The staff were rude, curt, and unprofessional with my fiancé. The only reason I chose MIDAS was to utilize the coupon and my fiancé told me the staff made snarky remarks about "cheaper customers" attempting to do so. I've utilized MIDAS in the past in other states and have never experienced anything like this. There is absolutely no reason as to why we had to go through such a terrible experience for something so simple as an oil change. And waiting 3 hours for an oil change when you've scheduled an appointment in advance is ridiculous and very inconsiderate! Came into the shop to get a new exhaust manifold and gasket installed back in July which cost me over $1000, less than 6 months later the manifold starts leaking again. Brought it back to the shop where they told me they can warranty the part but not labor. The labor was over $700! I was not happy that I had to pay to have the same part installed twice within 6 months. Eric from Midas reached out after the repair and offered to help. He was able to get me some money from the part manufacturer to help cover the cost of the labor expenses. although I wish this repair would have been fully covered I do appreciate Eric for reaching out and helping make this situation a little less painful. read more

I had a coupon for an oil change. Went in July 2020. Should have been simple thing but... The attendant told me that I'd need to have my oil pan checked soon, but didn't make it sound urgent. He even said the technician working on it, was going to screw the filter in extra tight. Apparently, that caused a big problem. The next day, there was oil leaking. I went to another mechanic, who told me he had to completely replace the oil filter, because it was bent, along with the oil pan. He used the word 'over-torqued', and that he'd seen it on a lot of cars in the area. What I know for sure is my car wasn't leaking oil before that day I took it to Midas, and it was after. I contacted the St Pete location, and the corporate office, because a simple $22 oil change turned into a $350 repair for me. I've not heard back and will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. Our brakes failed, leaving us stranded on the Gulf Coast when we were traveling. This Midas garage was swamped the day we pulled in because two mechanics had called in sick. They rearranged their schedule, completed the repair and we were able to get back on our way. Paul was the man in charge at the time. I credit him and his great staff for coming through. Another reason that I have been using Midas for muffler and brake work for decades. They have garages most any place in the US and honor warranties on the work done at other garages. Great service! I had to get a new AC and had a concern the following day. They looked at it immediately and addressed the concern.

My wife took our car and left it as we have a second car. She was having new Breaks, Oil Change and New Tires done. this was over an $800.00 invoice for payment. This location is in Clearwater Fl. on East Bay Drive. Stay as far away from this establishment. When she went to pick up the car she had forgotten she gave them my key and then upon pick-up she used her keys not realizing they still have a key. 1. They never acknowledge they had another key for my car , and have denied they have one. 2. She picked the car up and on the way home she felt like the tires were unbalanced as they were making a very loud noise . when asked if they do a test drive after the new brakes and they stated "yes". That is not correct, if they had done the test drive they would have known about the rear metal piece they forgot to reattach after the break job. VERY DANGEROUS for anyone to drive! after returning the vehicle they tightened the part. I'm a retired Florida Law Enforcement Officer and know what is dangerous or not and this could have had deadly results. 3. My wife noticed the front seat middle console latch was missing and no parts for the lock was found. My wife put some papers in the console just prior to taking it to the Mida's shop and then after leaving placed the paid receipt in and noticed there was no latch. The manager stated he would replace and call us when the latch was ready-he never called. We advised our Credit Card company and disputed $200.00 off the bill and we will replace it through a Reliable Co.. The manager called today (probably when he found out we disputed the bill?) and he stated the part was in an that he was calling us for a week NOT. I asked him why he didn't leave a message, he stated he doesn't leave messages. He made no such call as my home phone records my incoming call and the only one he made was today with nothing but excuses. I advised him about the test drive and he was supposed to call us back long before the wife disputed the charge. This Midas is located on East Bay Drive in Clearwater. They are not reliable nor trust worthy. Because of this I will not now nor ever purchase anything from Midas again! I went for an oil change which took nearly two hours! Then, like most sales associates, Midas employees badger customers recommending they need an endless list of additional work done. It takes advantage of people who are unfamiliar with car needs. I personally witnessed such behavior to every single customer that left while in the waiting room and then experienced it myself. When I went home, multiple people told me I was suckered because they overcharged me on work that wasn't necessary. However, their misleading evaluation was convincing (e.g., if I didn't get particular work done I would break down on the highway soon). Their oil change price is lower than other places but their sales tactic and preying on all customers is not worth saving a buck or two. My boyfriend went there for an oil change and removed two of the tire rings that have the car logo and never put them back on. After he called to see if it was there, they said no. Definitely 0 stars! I went in on my vacation because I was retaining water in my back seat as well as someone pulled my a/c out during an oil change. I watched my car during my time there and no one ever even approached my vehicle. Yet they called me to the counter and said they did while handing me an estimate of $350 because they "needed to take the dash apart" to fix it. I checked the problem on you tube when I left and fixed it in 5 minutes without removing the dash. These people are potential crooks trying to pad your invoice with things you don't need! I had a oil change and alignment done, they never rotated my tires. So my alignment was bogus, also my broke my radiator cap, when trying to fix it. The great service began with a personable phone call to confirm my appointment. I arrived ridiculously early and they were still able to see me fairly quickly. My service quote was completely out of budget, and I got a little skeptical...still a little skeptical (which is why I gave them 4 stars and not 5). Nevertheless, I am very grateful they were able to work within my budget and still allow me to leave with a safely functioning car. I've tried a few places around town, but I think this one is a keeper. I saw the interactions the staff hadwith other customers and was very impressed-- people clearly keep coming back for a reason! It's hard to imagine such a thing as a 5-star auto repair facility - check and you'll see most repair places get 2 or 3 stars - but Midas is five stars all the way. In 2012 I pulled into Midas mostly because it was there for a wheel cylinder replacement after leaving a dealership without having the repair done. After a few more experiences this became my go-to place for vehicle repair. Although I didn't know it at the time the service writer on my first visit was the franchise owner who was filling in for an absent service writer. It later became obvious his attitude of doing the right thing for the customer fills the whole organization. Another thing is that while Midas ( the company) started off with exhaust and brakes this franchise has capabilities far beyond that. So it can be considered a general auto repair shop rather than merely an under vehicle specialist. A lot of repair facilities ignore the concept of overlap when preparing the bill. (Overlap occurs when two separate repairs done together take less time than the total of the individual repairs done separately.) But here they understand overlap and so the labor charges are correct. Over the last 4 years I've expanded the number of items I will go to Midas for from only brakes to suspension parts engine repairs and tires. I have never been disappointed. read more

On 5.11 my daughter took her vehicle to Midas for new front breaks. Everything was good, she drove for a short distance on Saturday and Sunday. Monday after 15 mins of driving on the highway she heard a strange noise. She continued on to work. On the way home that evening after working a 12 hour shift her car started making a terrible noise. She chose to go ahead and pull over and call for a tow instead of getting back onto the highway. Three hours later she finally had the vehicle towed and arrived back home well after midnight. The tow truck driver asked if she'd recently had a break job, he stated that in just the few seconds he was in the car to back it up for towing he told it sounded like something was done incorrectly. The next day she called Midas to tell them what happened and asked when she could bring it back. The gentleman she spoke took was not empathetic in any way and dismissively went told her that she could bring her car back and that thru stand by their work. She had the vehicle towed back on 5/18, this tow driver also commented that someone did a half assed break job not yet realizing that that's exactly why he was towing it. Once they finished they job they nonchalantly admitted that they failed to properly tighten the caliper bolts. They acted as if they weren't the ones negligent in their work! The two stars isn't for the fact that they messed up but for the lack of any sort of acceptance of responsibility or apology. She travels for her job through the state of Florida a relies on her vehicle which she didn't have for a week because of their error. No apology, no we mes up, no $5 off coupon...NOTHING! 5/21: We have received neither calls nor texts; your shop has both phone number and email address and the message I replied to yesterday has the number listed also 5/26 Adam, The owner, reached out and was very responsive. Adam explained that he was apologetic and even sent us coupons. Adam was on vacation and assured us that this is not his normal business practice. We appreciate the quick manner in which he contacted us to rectify the situation and the star rating has been increased to reflect that. read more

While I was there a customer came in that was absolutely the rudest person I have ever Met, however the guys treated her with the most Respect! Had an oil change here previously. Waited two hours. Granted, I didn't have an appointment and it was probably on a weekend day. Thought it was a fluke. I came in today, with an appointment, waited an hour and a half for an oil change and tire rotation. Also marked one of my tires, and the tire rotation wasn't even done. Luckily I wasn't charged for the tire rotation, but now I have to spend more time out of my day to go to another place to get my tires rotated. I can't comment on their general auto maintenance, but don't come here for an oil change. Long wait for little work. read more
