I am writing this review to express my deepest gratitude to the team at the Midas location on Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge, VA. On June 10, my family and I were traveling from Maryland back to Chesapeake, VA, in a rental van when we experienced a flat tire just minutes from their shop. After realizing we were only a block away, we decided to walk to the Midas location to ask for assistance. From the moment we walked in and spoke with Brie, the level of care we received was nothing short of extraordinary. After I explained our situation--traveling with my wife, her father, and my mother-in-law--Brie, Chris, and Jeremy (the manager) immediately jumped into action. They went far beyond "good customer service" and truly acted as our guardian angels. Here is how they helped us: Brie quickly sourced the correct replacement tire from a nearby shop. Jeremy and Chris loaded a car jack into Jeremy's personal vehicle and drove me back to our van. They helped remove the flat tire and drove me back to the shop. Jeremy then personally drove to pick up the new tire, and Chris expertly installed it onto the rim. Finally, they drove back to our location at a nearby 7-Eleven, where they installed the new tire on our rental van right there in the parking lot. Thanks to their hard work, compassion, and speed, our family was able to continue our journey back to Chesapeake safely. Brie, Chris, and Jeremy did not just provide a service; they extended genuine kindness from the heart during a stressful time. We are incredibly grateful for their help. Took my car there yesterday to get some work done. Receive a phone call after a couple minutes same my vehicle is very rusty and for them it's not safe to work on it. Then they asked me if I'm willing to sell it because one of the mechanics wants to buy it. When I got there to pick up my car, I got a very funny offer mostly they trying to make fun. A dented mediated resonator on the pipe repair for an estimated cost. The manager called a Honda dealer and said the pipe price around $990 and needed two gaskets. The total cost for the parts and repair was over $1300. Rediculous over priced for the mediated pipe with a resonator usually cost from $150 to $250 from the Honda Parts Direct. Just cut the dented resonator and replace a resonator from Amazon cost $50 and two band clamps from Amazon for $16. read more

Since moving to the DMV almost 10 years ago, this is the ONLY place I trust. Being a single female it's always hard to know if I really need something done to my car of I'm just another "sucker". Brie and the team at this location always have my best interest in mind and tell it to me straight. They apply any discounts they can without me even asking and are transparent. I went in yesterday for some work to be done and the total was about the same as the price I was quoted. John put in some extra work fighting with my window till after closing to make sure I was safe on the road getting home. I was a loyal customer of Midas for over 20 years. As of today, 11/17/23, my loyalty to Midas is questionable. I requested an estimate for an alternator removal and replacement for a 1998 ES 300 Lexus. Alternator Part: $452.99, Labor: $382.70, Total: $835.69. I thought this was excessive. I went to Auto Zone, Napa, Quest and Pep Boys. The highest range on the alternator part was $260. I called Midas and questioned why their alternator part estimate was $200 dollars higher than the name brand part stores. I spoke to Kenny, he told me that Midas does patronize (Auto Zone, Napa, Quest and Pep Boys.) however they are NOT top-quality parts and sometimes reburnished. Midas must go to other part stores for certain parts and that's why the part estimate is higher. I felt like I was lied and b*ll s*hitted too. I have seen deliveries on a regular just passing by from Auto Zone and Napa to Midas. It appears that Midas has tremendous markup on their parts. Or they are going to the dealer. I went to another brand name auto center and had the alternator removed and installed for $542.38 vs the $835.60 Midas estimate. Also, Midas estimated $391.99 for car battery and $83.20 to install. A total for $475.19, for a battery! Shame on me, I won't make Midas my first choice anymore for my auto needs. Do your research and get other estimates. read more

I made a one star review for this location before and I don't know why I decided to give them a second chance, but it's honestly my fault. This time I'll give them 2 stars because I guess they did their job and gave me the oil change like I paid for, however the oil change was supposed to come with a tire rotation that I watched them not give me. And when I brought it up to the lady at the desk she told me they don't do that. They didn't even top off any of my fluids. I called and made appointment for an oil change. When I made the appointment I was informed of $20 discount for synthetic oil changes. I was quoted a price for oil change which included the discount - $70 and change. When I arrived for my appointment the young lady at the desk gave a pricing of $80 which included the discount. I advised the price quoted and she told me without the tax the discount was the $70. I didn't argue the point as I needed my oil change done. Upon the arrival of another employee, she called me to the desk to get detailed info for marketing purposes. She advised that the $70 I was originally quoted will be honored. I appreciate the correction and for that matter I would definitely come back. I also appreciate receiving a 10 point inspection via text after I departed. I normally go to the dealership to have an oil change, however their discount of $105 didn't seem like much of a discount based on what I've paid in the past. I went in on September 24, 2021 with a complaint of soft brakes. That means when I push the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor and braking is delayed. They said that the rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced and could not be milled. I agreed to a cost of over $900. I asked for the replaced parts to be put into the vehicle. First, the front brake rotors and pads were fine. They did not need to be replaced. The rear pads and rotors did need to be replaced. I did not like this deception but the car was stopping properly. Fast forward to October 10, 2021, while in the drive thru lane of a local fast food chain, the brakes suddenly went soft again. No warning just a massive loss of brake pressure. Their "repair" lasted a total of two week. I have put a call into them but have not heard back yet. The fact that they pulled a deception in the first incident and did not repair the original complaint has me leery of them and I do not trust them. A little background on me. I have worked with vehicles for three decades. I have built cars from the ground up, I have been a part of a pit crew, and I wrote troubleshooting for US Army and USMC vehicles to include the brake systems. I have replaced brakes plenty of time. I know what they are supposed to look like, how they are supposed to act and feel, and that the repairs should last much longer than two weeks. read more

Had brakes done at the Jefferson Davis location. Come to find out that they were installed incorrectly. Verfified through Ford dealership, took back to Midas and spoke with Glenn . Glenn claimed that he was "a certified brake specialist" and that the brakes were installed correctly and blamed it on the dealership trying to make money. Glenn stated that calipers needed to be changed at this time. Told Glenn that we were getting third opinion due to safety concerns since the brakes were in question. Stressed to Glenn that safety should be a number one concern. Lake Ridge Auto re confirmed that Midas had installed the brakes incorrectly and that the calipers were fine and did not need replacing (As Glenn indicated)but would need to fix the incompetence of Midas' work on the brakes and other issues due to the brake work by Midas. Two places Ford and Lakeridge confirmed they were installed incorrectly by incompetent people . So much for him being a "certified brake specialist" as he claimed. Had to spend money to correct their mistakes that could have caused safety issues. Left messages for the owner Brian and manager to call back. Have not heard back from them regarding their workmanship. This place is the worst. read more

Stopped by today for my "0% oil life" remaining fix; being astutely aware of the irony that synthetic oil has life. Pulled in and parked next to a tennis coach, at least he must have been because he parked on the line and it wasn't his fault. I go inside and dude at counter does the no eye-contact "gimmeaminute" mumble as he stares at the computer screen like it just ate his baby. There were two other people there, which corresponded with the 2 cars in the bays. About 5 minutes later dude asks, "What can I do for you" without smiling. Actually, I believe he grimaced, which I would confirm as fact if I knew what a grimace was. It could have been gas, I dunno. So I asked what the wait was for an oil change - confusion instantly clouded over. He conferred with the guys in the bay, mumbled something like "lunch" and said "an hour and a half...or so." I looked at him, he looked at me, I looked at the two cars in the bay. I said "thanks" and left. In closing, I would like to thank the person in the clown car that parked behind me next to the door making it virtually impossible to get out of the extremely well-though out and engineered parking lot onto Route 1. Don't expect to be able to get out of the lot if your vehicle is bigger then a Ford Festiva. I've been here on two other occasions; both times it was essentially the same deal. I've been going to Midas for years now and have had a great experience until today. I called yesterday and scheduled an appointment for oil change and inspection. I was advised that the person doing inspections will be working at a different location and got a confirmation for my appointment on Saturday. I drove 30 minutes to get there, passing several other options for these services, only to hear that they don't do appointments on Saturday and this appointment should never have been made by the young lady at the other location. My frustrations with them were definitely expressed, but all I got was some blame shifting from location to location and not one party trying to right their wrong here. Needless to say, after years of taking out vehicles there, its time for a change. We have seen many great employees leave and with them the great service left. read more

I usually go to a dealership but was in a pinch for time and went to Midas in Woodbridge. They were all prompt and informative, answered all my questions and offered me discounts on services. I didn't take advantage of the services but they didn't get aggressive like ALL oil change places tend to do, total gentleman, said no problem and they'd email me the details. Done deal and very professional. Clean bathroom too!! I didn't wait long and the location is perfect. Also, good conversation with the office guy, real cool. I'd for sure come back if/when I'm in need. These places get a bad rep when one customer doesn't understand things and labels them, they did my brakes too and gave me an awesome coupon so I saved 100 bucks!!! read more

These A-holes tried to straight up scam me. Brought my Murano in, told them it wasn't driving right. He claimed that the catalytic converters were responsible for this -- that's not how those work, and these employees should be VERY ashamed. Murano wouldn't go faster than 25 MPH. Also had flat tire. I replaced the spark plugs myself. That didn't fix problems. Brought in Murano they claimed the following issues: Bad valve seals, 2 bad spark plugs, 2 bad cat converters, These repairs totaled more than 3300. When the mechanic(Mark) asked which of these repairs I would like done, I asked how much for just the valve seals and the two plugs. He said that the car wasn't even running at this point (which was not true.) and launched into a rant attempting to shame me into giving him $3000 and claiming the catalytic converters helped the car drive properly. I declined. He responded that he'd already fixed the tire and thus I was charged $200. The tire was not fixed. I left this review on google reviews and received an email asking if I'd like to elevate the complaint to corporate. I said yes. Never heard back from them and don't really care at this point, Just want to make sure that other customers know that if you go here, you will be scammed by either incredibly incompetent or sleazy mechanics. read more

I came in to get my brakes looked at and the desk guy was extremely helpful (Jesse, I think) but here's where things got crazy, he specifically told me to set up an appointment for follow-up work and when I returned at that time the manager told me it would be a two hour wait time. He said they were extremely busy and it was first come first served. I asked why Jesse told me to set up an appointment and he just looked at me dumbfounded and shrugged his shoulders. He then offered me to come back at a later time and he would see me right away. When I returned, he told me there would still be a one hour wait and then I expressed my frustration with how inadequate their process was. One guy told me to set up an appointment and the other said they shouldn't take appointments. The manager then seemed aggravated with me for calling them out and Jesse made it appear as though I misunderstood his direction. This store is good because they may do unconventional jobs that other shops don't do but, you can't trust them. Three or more managers have tried to take advantage of me on different occasions: 1. The most recent situation is I went for an oil change. As expected, they found something that might be "wrong" with the vehicle. There is an oil "leak" at the differential. It is a 10-year-old vehicle so, of course some small leak will show somewhere. After the mechanic painted an apocalyptic scenario, the manager quotes me $120 for the labor. When I asked if not gaskets were needed, she told me they have some kind of synthetic, glue-like material that replaces the need of the gasket. I was surprisingly happy because I thought they were trying to charge me thousands of dollars. The guy who did the oil change messed my vehicle with oil on the upholstery on my doors. I guess he didn't care enough to take his gloves off and touched the interior of both doors where the leather is. I complained with the manager and she sent another guy who wiped off with some wet napkins. A few days later, when I came back at the agreed date to deal with the differential. The manager told me she realized I needed a part (some kind of gasket) that cost $89 in addition to the previous estimate. I agreed so she supposedly ordered the part which should arrive that same day around noon. She didn't call for several days so I showed up at the stores several times to inquire. After two weeks, finally she got the part. From $89, the part now costs $116. Then she ads approx. $67 for the oil. So, the job that was supposed to be done for approx. $120, suddenly now costs over $300. Every time I asked why the price change, she will BS some bogus reason like 5th grader would lie. 2. After the above, I lost total trust in her. She gave me an estimate of $800 for tires which I ended doing with Quality Tires next to the Potomac Mills. They were the most expensive out of the four places I investigated but, I trust them. At least in two occasions, they have mounted the tires of my boat trailers for free. Regularly, I have no problems with warranty. They replaced two tires at no cost and repair them like 5 times. On warranty jobs, they never made it difficult so the client give up coming back. Recently I replaced a TPMS and while other stores estimate were around $120, quality tires did it for almost half the price. So on the tires, I paid $250 more but, the trust and peace of mind worth more than that. 3. The guy who cleaned the oil on my doors upholstery offered car detailing. I told him I'll do it after Independence Day because I knew my SUV will be a mess after going with friends and family to the beach. When the store manager pulled that stunt, I stopped trusting anybody with anything on my car with the exception of oil change. My trust goes to a Valvoline store half a mile south but, the oil change sometimes is too high. The cheapest oil change I believe is Pepboys for $20 but, the wait is too long. So I pay a few extra bucks to greatly reduce the wait. 4. I guess is the nature of Midas to have a loose relationship fair pricing and honesty. Here a couple of more examples; a. I went for an oil change and the offer included tire rotation. When I realized they didn't rotate them, I talked with the manager at that time. He said he needed to charge me $20 extra because I have 24in rims. If he told me in advance, I would not do the oil change there. b. Another manager gave me an estimate for the exhaust pipe job. One of those odd jobs I mentioned at the beginning. He indicated they will replace ¾ of the exhaust pipe for approx. $750 or $250 to cut the rusted part, weld a small section and re-install the old exhaust. I did the one of a lesser cost. I realized he manipulated the labor to fit the price. For the $750 job, the labor was approx. $90/hr plus parts. On the $250 job, the labor was $125/hr plus like $45 materials. c. When you google the store, sometimes you find a good deal, for example a $20 oil change. When you go there, you find out is a bait-and -switch. They will say that is a corporate promotion and they don't support it. Suddenly the oil change price goes up $10 more. So be sure they will screw you, if you give them the opportunity. read more

With a back tire that's been going soft, I made an online appointment at this Midas. I've always had really great experiences with Midas in Richmond and back in Michigan, so of course I was happy there was a convenient location here. The appointment window was between 4:30 and 6:30pm. I made it there about 6:15 (they close at 7, and online offered a 6:30 appointment too) I got there, parked and went inside. There was no one behind the counter. I waited. No one came. Guys kept moving cars and working and looking up but not acknowledging me. After about 11 minutes, the two guys standing on the other side of the glass door talking came inside. One man stepped behind the counter and looked at me (my cue to talk?!). I said Hi and explained I had made an online appointment and was there just have my tire checked out. He scoffed and said "Yeah. At 4:30." I apologized and said I believed it was a window (I confirmed that with my email after leaving). He rolled his eyes and continued to tell me I was wrong and too late. As I turned to leave (because seriously, who's gonna stand and be berated by someone for no legitimate reason?) he said "but I'll take a quick look if you NEED me to." as though he were breaking some rules or going above and beyond to look at my tire, at my appointment time, in a profession and employer he's selected. Thanks but no thanks. Customer service is the thing that keeps me in otherwise questionable establishments and runs me out immediately from even 5 star businesses (which this dirty for even a mechanic place is not). This is the only place in NoVA that I take my car. They do good work, charge fair prices, and treat loyal customers well. They'll keep you informed of any maintenance your car needs, but are very understanding of money constraints. They are great at letting you know what has to be done now, and what is recommended for the future. What sold me though, is they don't assume that because I'm woman I know nothing about cars. However, they are always willing to explain things. I live in Arlington and still bring my car here, that should tell you how much I trust them. read more

I was in there twice over the last two weeks: yikes. Once for all new rotors and brakes, and the second time for a failed seal from a hose to my radiator. All in all, I spent a ton of money :( which sucks always.. However, the guys at Midas were so friendly and helpful! They checked in with me several times, all of my work was done within 36 hours each time, and they just made it such a simple process. I think maybe it was a little more on the expensive side than I would have liked, but I will return there for sure next time just because their customer service was fabulous!! I came on at a perfect time! There were no other customers, so they took my car in right away. The desk associate looked up a coupon for me, which was great. My only concern is that they used a synthetic blend in my car, instead of asking me what I wanted. Apparently you have to tell them before you give them your information. Well here's my thing with this Midas. Yes I've used them on numerous occasions. They made a fatal error with my car, which I won't go into details. But after getting my car towed to their location, they apologized profusely, fixed the problem and offered me free services. And so I appreciate that they took care of everything on their side. I'm definitely used to arguing with establishments about their lackluster service, but they accepted blame in this situation. And it doesn't hurt that they are friendly as well. You try being mad at someone who is friendly to you. Well - it really doesn't matter with me...I'm usually a meanie anyway, especially since I tend to schedule the early morning appointments (and I have attitudes in the morning). read more

I went to this shop today and they treated me very well! The employees were very friendly and even though only one guy Easton was working on all of the cars, they got to mine promptly. Had a muffler replaced. Well, when I arrived to pick up my truck and discovered that the new muffler was no longer visible from the side of the vehicle, it became immediately clear to me of just how "bad" of a job the previous installer had really done. (not supposed to be able to see the muffler hanging down from the side) Midas did an excellent job with this installation. I am very pleased with their work. And as far as the price...they beat everyone else in town. (and I shopped around too!!!) I found their customer service rep to be very courteous, informative and professional. Would I use them again?
