So two visits to this location two different vehicles and two major issues with the customer service and the persistent borderline harassment to add additional service that wasn't requested. When I first got there I inquired about a check engine light code and a standard oil change. However the technician was not knowledgeable nor cared about what I had to say. Furthermore, he ensured to ask me if I wanted to get a transmission fluid change and a power steering fluid change. I respectfully declined. Second visit different car same service requested oil change the car battery unexpectedly dies. Prior to my visit the car showed no signs of a weak or dead battery no lights were left on either. Then they proceeded to ask if I wanted my fluids flushed for over $200 absolutely not. Do not recommend this location go elsewhere or YouTube it. read more

They removed my air filter without asking first and then couldn't get it back in and the when I asked if it was going to be much longer the guy initially ignored me and then angrily told me that they only had 2 people working (there were at least 4 other people there). read more

I had my oil change and I notice all the other vehicles was leaving there bay and even the ones that got there after me. So I kept hearing the guy working under my car while the vehicles was leaving then I noticed the supervisor standing in front of my car looking down at the guy say (Out of sight out of mind) so I was looking like why is he saying that. Come to find out the guy drained some of my transmission fluid instead of my oil because after I left my car started jumping when changing gears. At first I was wondering why is it doing that so when I put some transmission fluid in it it stop but still because it was doing it and I didn't know and it probably did some damage it was lightly jumping. I also couldn't pull up in my family members drive way which is uphill and my car could so I had to back in do to my transmission issue. So because I have to drive to work from La Plata to DC I end up trading the car in and getting another do to what happened to my transmission which was caused by the carelessness of the workers and the supervisor letting it happen and not correcting it. I will never go back to Valvoline again with any of my vehicles. read more

I have used this Valvoline every time. It's so convenient -- 10 or 15 minutes, you don't even need to get out of your car . The staff people are friendly and professional and do not try to sell you overpriced maintenance service like some other chains. I've never had a problem with the service here at this location. At another location, they put my air filter on wrong, which caused my car to break down; luckily the dealer fixed it underwarranty.. So now I tell them not to check the air filter at any drive-thru oil change place, because it's difficult to get back on right in my car. Not the fault of this La Plata location. Always check for coupons either on Yelp or online to save money. They will scan the coupons right off your phone. Just saved 20% with Yelp coupon. read more

I went to Valvoline in Laplata, MD at lunch time today and got the full synthetic oil change and my tires rotated. Mr. Rodriguez and crew took great care of my car! They provided me with friendly, efficient, expedient, and professional service. Sure the price was higher than your average shop but I knew that I was paying for convenience. I'M SOLD! Today was my first time getting an oil change here and I love that you do not need to make an appointment. I had about a 5 minute wait and then they started working on my car. I love that you stay in your car and can see the whole process. Everyone was extremely polite and they explained everything to me. The people and speed of service were both great. I stayed in my car while they worked and they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't ask for. Neither of these can make up for how much of my weekend removing the oil filter that they over torqued just ruined. After almost tearing through a rubber strap wrench trying to remove their gorilla strength install job, I had to go to Autozone to get a filter specific tool. The tool fit the filter I was installing (the proper Fram version for the vehicle) but not the recycled one Valvoline installed. Another trip to Autozone later I returned home with a tool that crushes filters, presumably for the taking out the trash of these quickie services. Two feet of cheater bar and a completely crushed Valvoline filter later their garbage was removed from my vehicle. Never again. read more

I have previously looked forward to my oil changes at the La Plata Valvoline, but my recent experience will likely take me to another oil change place. First, Christopher is the first CSR I've encountered at Valvoline with a difficult attitude. He seemed more worried about getting me out than performing any paid service. Unfortunately, that was the bright side. One of the gentlemen working topside (it says DeAndre or Joshua), decided he wasn't going to look at my air filter. When I asked Christopher about this, he stated that the Topside guy thought it was too ardous to unscrew my air filter case. Oh well. The customer is always wrong. read more

What happened. They used to be polite, thorough, checked all lights, fluids, blades etc. This time NONE of that and I had a burned out headlight! They also did a lifetime battery protection by blowing all the white corrosive material all over my engine, dabbing some sealant on it and said they were done. Did NOT even remove and clean the battery cable? And then stuck his big sweaty head in front of my face trying to reset the oil change due light. UGHH! I rode with a co worker to get his transmission flushed on his work vehicle. We pulled up to the location greeted by a nice young lady and young man who asked what service was needed. I was on my phone but heard my co worker specifically ask for the service I mentioned above also indicating he received an oil change yesterday. They proceeded to start working on the car, when my co worker noticed an oil filter in the hand of the lady who started working on the car. He inquired to her about the service she was preforming. She confirmed with her co worker, both insisted they were doing an oil change is what they thought he said. Another male came from inside saying he also heard mention of the oil being changed. How he thought he heard the same thing from inside is unknown but he insisted that's what was said. Then proceeds to tell my co worker- the customer- he wasn't going to argue with him about it and needed to communicate better with the technician. Excuse me? As a place of customer service YOUR TECHNICIANS should be CLEAR on what services are being done. Now coming to a location that's known to be "in and out" we've been here for quite some time. Another customer came after us- not sure what services she had completed other than rotating tires but I noticed she left before we did. I understand different services have different time spots. Worst experience ever ! I went to the La Plata Valvoline Tuesday March 5th just after 8 am . I asked the the man that checked me in did he need a coupon from my phone and he replied that it was in the computer? After taking all my information in to the computer and me having to repeat myself several times to the man he asked me for my coupon? I then called my wife and asked her to forward the coupon to my phone and she said it would take her a little while. I then asked the man what their hours were and said that I may be back Thursday or Friday and thanked him. He seemed flustered and I said I didn't want to change the oil without my coupon. An hour later I get the coupon and go back to Valvoline. I was flagged in to the bay by Andre the manager. I asked Andre did he need the coupon before entering my info and he said no I will get that later. He then came up to my window and said my manager said you gave him a hard time about a coupon. I said what are you talking about? He said I just want make sure we are not going have a problem with you and this coupon. I told him what happened earlier and he repeated "I just want much sure we are not going have a problem with you and this coupon".I was shocked to say the least by his attitude.I told him to cancel the service. I then told him that I was going to call the corporate office to file a complaint and post my review here. I called the Valvoline corporate office around 11am and told them what happened and was told that this matter was elevated to the regional manager Rich Ward. I thanked the lady and its 3 days later and I still have not heard from Mr. Ward ? I stayed away from this place for over a year after having had a terrible experience where they over filled the oil ! That's a big no-no ! The next day an oil/check engine light came on and I took my 2017 Ford Escape to Waldorf Ford for service. They told me that morning that Valvoline over filled the oil and that this could do serious damage to the engine. I called the LaPlata Valvoline and drove down. They emptied the oil and before refilling it I had them show me that they were putting the correct amount back in. Stay clear of this place ! read more

My car broke down right in front of their shop, they were about to close, but stayed longer to try and help me with the car. I live 3 hours away and my car needed a pretty complex repair that I needed to take to an auto mechanic, which did not open until the next morning, one of the female employees walked my family and I to the closest hotel and even went back to get my phone charger for me and brought it to the hotel, this says so much about the character of the employees, they were wonderful and kind read more

I have mixed feeling about this place. On one hand the people are very friendly and they get you in and out in a flash. HOWEVER they can be really expensive to get an oil change. With synthetic blend it was 65 bucks. I only pay half of that at Mr. Tire. Now I understand a lot of that has to be because of the quick service that's fine. But the last time I was in I asked to have my back left tire checked because I believed I had a slow leak. They checked everything and said it was fine but my tire light was still on so I asked again hey did you check the tire. One of the techs yells over to another and says hey did you the check the tire to which he replied no but I think its ok. This didn't make me feel great but they checked it again and said it was fine and my tire light went off. Now its been two days sense they checked the tire and my oil, and one of those days I didn't even drive. But wouldn't you know I get a flat tire. Now I know their not a tire place so I cant beat them up to much but there is a hole big enough for me to put a Bic pen into. What does this mean. I most likely ran over a nail or screw and if you know anything about nails and screws you'll know one as wide as a pen is pretty big, and dare I say hard to miss. So I ran over a nail or screw and over a few days the nail worked its self out and boom flat tire. Now I must of had that sucker when I went to Valvoline. And yes they don't do tires, I get it but if they had actually taken the time to check my tire im pretty sure they would have found a nail as big as a pen. Then I wouldn't of had a flat tire on 301. Last but not least I called to let them know this and I didn't get a very pleasant response. Now I was calling just to let them know hey you guys should actually check the tire when you say your going to. I was told we don't do tires that's not are problem, and you probably just ran over the nail today. Yeah... Probably not and I probably wont be going back which is a shame because their techs are really nice and work fast. All and all if you need your oil changed in 10 min and you don't mind paying extra go for it but don't expect anything else. read more
