The ambiance is EVERYTHING! From the moment you step off the elevator and onto the floor they are located in, you are greeted immediately by all the jazz flare! My friend and I arrived about 35 min early or so, but we were able to go inside and get ourselves checked in. You are then led back outside to wait in line as other parties start arriving. The doors promptly open at 6 pm, and an usher comes outside and leads each party inside to an assigned table. We sat right in the middle about 3 rows back, and the view was amazing. There, really honestly, isn't a bad table. Love the color scheme they use dark blue green colors, and lighting is kept a bit dim to keep the ambiance going as well. Our server, Jarren, I believe, is his name. It was wonderful! Super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations on drinks and food. I ordered the braised pork with potatoes, a caprese salad, and a glass of Cava wine, and it was all DELICIOUS! The caprese salad was very refreshing for me, and the pork and potatoes were honestly the best. House of Funk:tribute to prince songs played this night, and they did not disappoint! The keyboard apparently though messed up in the middle of their show so that had to improvise with other songs not prince related but they did end up playing a classic one "kiss" at the very end after their show just to make up for it. What a great place and time, and I will definitely be back in the future. There is parking right beside this location in the parking deck. Middle C does not validate, though, so you will have to pay for parking unless you uber or catch a ride. I went to Middle C Jazz for the first time this past Saturday with my girlfriend and it was amazing! I love watching live music. I always leave feeling inspired and wanting to try a new instrument. I purchased my tickets online maybe 2 days before the show and thus weekend show was celebrating the 3rd Anniversary of Middle C. Noel And Maria were the performers for the evening and from what I recall they said they performed at the grand opening of Middle C and have been there for every anniversary since. The show was for 7pm and the doors opened at 6 and we was right outside waiting for those doors to open at 6. We were checked in when we went inside and they directed us to a line to wait on before entering the seating area. They said it was a sold out show and we were seated at a table that seats 4 so we were joined with another couple who were very nice people. We ordered some drinks and food, the cocktails were about $13-$15 but there were really good! I had the "Alley Cat" which had Markers Mark Bourbon,, Johnny Walker and some other stuff lol. The music... the music was so lovely. I really wish I knew how to sing. It was a good hour and a half of music and I enjoyed every moment of it. It's New Year's Eve weekend and celebrating in South Carolina. I'd been watching concerts for months of Middle C and always thought I will go one day. I got a surprise and it came sooner than way later. I attended a wine tasting with Mindi Abair and her husband who is an official Sommelier. I learned a lot about wines and with every taste Mindi played the saxophone and paired music with wine. He's definitely the ying to her yang and love them both. Afterwards , we enjoyed Mindi's concert and it was awesome. Mindi is an amazing saxophonist and her band is beast mode. The atmosphere was so chilled we ordered the calamari with wasabi aioli sauce and buffalo chicken flatbread. The service was great and the food was delicious. This place is awesome New Year's Eve was so much fun. read more

Once again, I was in town for the holiday, memorial day weekend. I had a marvelous time in the city. We decided to go out the same evening I arrived. We met up with friends, I ended up being the fifth wheel as usual. We decided to get there before the band played. We found a very nice spot along the wall the band was playing marvelously all night. Everyone was on their feet it was the most wonderful time I had dinner was great I got the shrimp basket, and a mango margarita. We all had a very, very nice time! I am new to Charlotte and came to check it out with one best friend visiting from Atlanta for my birthday. I initially fell in love with the venue, even considering a membership. Then I was reprimanded by the host that there was a complaint asking me to lower my voice/talking. I also witnessed the owner shishing another table. There was no complaint, the owner and the employee need to chill out and allow people to have a good time. Stop trying to make the place so stuffy, it will ultimately impact the success of this establishment. I may give this place another chance if my husband is interested. read more

One thing about being married for 23 years is that you are always trying to think of something new and different to do with your spouse. We've been in the Charlotte area for a long time and I figured we went to a lot of places around town. As I assigned myself the task of figuring out what to do, I turned on Spotify, and on came some jazz. As jazz is my favorite genre, it had me thinking about where I could take the Mrs. so I typed in jazz in Charlotte on my computer, and up came Middle C Jazz. To my surprise Norman Brown was the artist that night and I love his music so I knew that's where we were going. The show was sold out, but I used some connections to get us some tickets, and off we went for our first time there. You step into Middle C and the environment is filled with good people and great music. The place just simply has a hum to it., it's lively, but relaxed. Norman Brown absolutely did his thing that night and it was a really good show. The service was excellent and the food...damn it was good. I've been to jazz clubs before where they seem to give you food right from a food truck....not Middle C. We ordered the meatballs, Shrimp and Grits, and Salmon cake and Grits. Very tasty and filling. If you are looking for a place to go where you can relax, sit back, have drinks, and have a really good time listening to some great artists, get to Middle C....as soon as you can. Performers were phenomenal and had everyone dancing and out of their seats! Tickets were a bit pricey, would be great if they could stretch the shoes out to a full 2 hours. They have tapas style small plates, we tried- meatballs, Brussel sprouts, fried mushrooms, pepperoni flatbread, chicken flatbread, and couple bottles of wine. Spur of the moment night at Middle C Jazz to enjoy Fat Tuesday with the Soda City Jazz Band. Coming from a jazz family, my uncle being Stanley Turrentine this was an awesome fun night that had great jazz music. They had a special creole dish that my friend enjoyed with a dessert that had a candle for her birthday. I had a special Valentines drink, customer service was great. An amazing place for a date night! My husband and I came here for a weekend show and had a lovely time. I can't speak for all of their shows, but for ours we got tickets in advance and seating is first come, first served. Doors opened an hour before the showtime. We came hungry and they have a menu of snacks and light bites - enough you can fill up if you order multiples, like tapas, but if you're looking for entrees or multi-course meals then eat elsewhere before or after. We managed just fine with what they had on the menu (including naan pizzas, cheese plates, roasted veggies, and more). Drinks here we're great! They have a small selection of unique craft cocktails and an impressive variety of wines. I especially liked the glass of prosecco I got to top off the evening. Although this is street level, the vibe inside is moody and classy, like a West Village jazz club in a basement but more comfortable. I really appreciate the small, dim lights that you use to call the server - just tap them on (they're not too bright but bright enough for someone to notice) and someone comes over to take your order. No glancing over your shoulder to see if a server is nearby, no waiting forever for a server to stop by your table. Service was prompt and the employees were all kind. I also felt like the spacing between tables was generous. It didn't feel like we were all squished in like sardines, and that contributed to the luxurious feeling of the night. Overall, I had a great time and Middle C has gone on my shortlist of fun things to do for a night out. read more

Another fabulous evening at Middle C Jazz! Upon entering we were asked to sanitize our hands. Next our temperatures were checked followed by full body scans using a UV light wand (to kill germs etc on clothing). After being checked in each group is taken to their table one at a time. Arrive early to get the best seats. Within a few moments of being seated, we were greeted by our waitress who brought menus and water. The food selection is slim but very tasty. The drinks were delicious also! The performance by Paul Dozier and Friends was on point, including a good variety of songs. The show always starts on time so don't be late! Walked in checked in by 7:45 on time walk in. While seating Larry the owner treated us was happy to see that. Sat down with a half hour to the show and ate a salad fresh and clean. where do I start...? Dad is a member and has regular tickets to shows that tickle his fancy and musical tastes. A nice focus on Jazz, blues, fusion, bosa nova, you name it; including gospel Sunday's. I caught about 5 different shows when visiting with my Dad and he is like the Mayor over there. A table right up front, center stage, bartenders who have his order ready on sight, servers and staff who know him by name and all that wrapped up in Southern Hospitality. The weekend of 11/21 marks their 1 year anniversary and to stay afloat during a pandemic speaks volumes. Featuring a repeat artist and his tribute to Stevie Wonder... I'm sad to not be there. American Airlines must have trained this place on how to screw up separate lines for the "special vs not special" seating privileges as it was an unorganized cluster you know what. However,once inside, the magic begins as friendly servers quickly take your order for well priced wines, cocktails and delicious food. Need another snack or refill? Hit the table button and a server returns in seconds. The overall layout is tastefully decorated with thoughtful sight lines so everyone has a good view of the band. I had the opportunity last night to check out Middle C jazz bar. I didn't even know this place existed. One of my close friends invited me for cocktails and appetizers after work. The staff, food and music was on point. I was impressed with the ordering process. All you have to do is push the call box on your table and it lights up and your server comes right away. Venue is nice. Willie Walker and the band played beautifully....really! However,...I purchased my ticket under the impression that Gregory Porter would be performing. I was unfortunately disappointed to realize that I was grossly mistaken. (Shame on you Middle C for false advertising) This concert populated under Gregory Porter's tour dates as if he's performing as part of the headliner. I will be contacting my bank to request a chargeback. This evening cost me $80+...when you consider what I spent for parking, dinner and the cost of the tickets. I was willing to pay $135 a ticket plus for the cost of traveling and hotel to see him in Charleston, but changed my plans when I realized (or thought I would see him here in Charlotte. Sooooooooooooo disappointed!!! Ugh!!! Do better Middle C!!!! Your establishment is a really cool spot, and once I get over my disappointment, I see myself frequenting there a lot. My husband took me to Middle C Jazz for our date night. It was such a memorable evening. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff was very friendly. The space was intimate, without being too small and the ambiance was gorgeous. I recommend arriving 45min to an hour before show time so you can choose your seating. We were able to pick a table that was perfect for us. We ordered an appetizer and drinks while we waited. Both tasted great. I don't think there was any particular dress code. We were dressed for a nice night downtown, some were dressed a little more casually, and others were pretty dressed up. The best part was the show. The music was phenomenal! I danced and sang along the entire night. I told my parents about the show and the immediately booked their tickets for the next show. They had an equally amazing time.
