Our cottage was very large with high ceilings. The bedroom, the bathroom and the living room were all quite large. We had an efficiency kitchen in the living room, as well as a gas fireplace and a TV. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and extra blankets. The bathroom towels were large and plush. The interior was spotlessly, clean with hardwood flooring and cabinetry. I would absolutely stay here again. It seems like an amazing place to stay with a large group or hold some type of event. The price was right. If I ever returned to Gettysburg, I would try to stay here.

The lobby and front desk areas are stunning, and the firepit right outside was absolutely dreamy for evening hangouts. Our room was comfortable with cozy beds, but I was disappointed to learn that daily cleaning only happens if you call to request it--so ours was never cleaned during our stay. The pool was fun, but it closes at 8pm, which feels a little too early. It would be amazing if they extended hours to 10 or 11pm. The biggest downside was the very loud AC system. Even when we turned ours off and cracked the window, we still heard the neighboring unit running all night. It definitely made it hard to sleep. Overall, though, it's a beautiful property with a lot of charm--perfect for family gatherings and downtime between adventures.

My family and I attended a wedding on October 8, 2022 which was a cold fall night. The property was…read morevery nice and the barn/reception was beautifully decorated. As the night went on the barn was getting colder and colder inside which had no heat and no portable heating for the guest. The brides father plugged in several small box heaters to help make the guests more comfortable. At one point throughout the night the owner (older male with gray/white hair) entered the barn and started ripping the wires for the box heaters out of the outlets and yelling at the guests making quite the scene. The owner then yelled at several guests saying that we would burn down the barn for just simply trying to not freeze to death. I then politely attempted to talk to the owner about his actions. The owner got within an inch of my face and yelled that he had a "hot box" and it was our fault if the building burnt to the ground (referring to the electrical panel). Now I am no electrician or expert by any means but I would assume that the electrical panel was not to code and was probably a 100 amp breaker box when 200 amp was needed. I then told the owner that he needed to respect his guests and to respectfully go about unplugging the heaters instead of creating a scene during the first dance and father daughter dances. The owner was a complete a**hole and I would hope no one would ever give that man another dollar in his life. Overall the venue was nice but the ownership is terrible and would never recommend.

The husband and I had words during the planning and execution of my family's event more then once overall I found their management team to be rude and as if my business was a bother to them and was a problem. Money is GREEN and all humans when you pay you have a basic level of customer service expected it was not delivered. While the venue is pretty the management teams attitude is less then piss poor... if you want to be stressed out and irritated yet have your event at a pretty place then this is the venue for you. The stress and rudeness of their team was not worth the venues cuteness for me... I wouldn't recommend them to anyone and will never use them again. Maybe they treat brides better but my event was a very simple family event... and they failed miserably to do the most basic of things... and they had a HUGE insect issue that could have and should easily been controled by spraying NEVER AGAIN most brides are likely so in love that they are blind to the mess but this place would get a negative -1 from me if it were possible. Every room. At first, everyone was "omg - we're all a minimum of 3.5 hours away - WHY!!!" As Mother of the Bride, I had a lot of work on this wedding, and Connie was my first contact here. She made everything perfect from the onset. My husband and I visited about 3 weeks before the big day to lock down decorations with Connie in the amazing barn. She made us feel welcome & was so incredibly helpful. We left with a feeling of control, where before I was just frazzled. I knew she understood my vision for the decorations and would do everything she could to make it happen. The house itself is a magical place with rooms tucked through this door, past the games, to up one of the two staircases, to behind that door off the parlor, to down the stairs through the solarium! Tea and coffee are always available, along with lemonade and water. They offer a variety of teas and coffee pods for all flavor lovers, including decaf. From this room we open to the grand solarium. Completely surrounded by the 2nd-story deck and porch with an outdoor fireplace! Big windows allow for streaming sunlight all day - it sparkles! Tables set here are for the 100% delicious breakfasts Sally whips up in the kitchen! The deck/porch off this room lent itself to the cocktail hour for the rehearsal dinner, where everyone had the most fun petting some of the many cats that live on the property! The stairs leading down from the solarium held two more rooms. Anna's Garden room. The other is Houghtelin Hideaway Room - wow! This was our room. While not technically an "old" part of the house structure, it oozed aged refinement. A large king bed was the highlight with the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in! I seriously need to know what it was - I peeked under the sheets and did see a foam topper, but that couldn't be the whole secret! A big 1920s oak 'set-back" dresser gave ample room to put our clothes away. smart lamps on either side of the bed lent some modern convenience with USB ports, plugs, and such. A beautiful vanity sat as a use for either a desk or a vanity with a large mirror over. There is also a bench with a large mirror over - plenty of "getting ready" mirrors. A closet with overhead light helped to hold out garments, bags, with hooks set extra high for gowns and such. The other side of the room held a huge leather sofa that you just sink into! Chairs and tables allow this area to be a nice conversation nook. The bathroom was a masterpiece in itself! A huge walk-in stone shower with both a hand-held wall-mounted spray as well as an overhead rain shower head. They also supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in a wall-mounted dispenser. The enormous soaking tub was well used by myself three times! The vanity was well lit with so much room for things underneath with open shelves. A door out of the room at back led to a small patio area with a table and chairs and a path that leads directly to the wedding garden. Everyone there did everything possible to make my daughter's wedding weekend a magical event, and I truly hope we didn't overwhelm them too much! Right to the moment we pulled out on Sunday morning, watching the house fade in the mirrors behinds us - we knew we would be back again and again. This place felt like home. And one last - if you are holding an even there is none better than Connie to help you! She is an amazing, helpful, joy-filled, exuberant, AWESOMEDANCER, of an event coordinator!!
