Where do I even begin?! Well, sit back, get a cuppa and relax - this is going to take some time! October 1st-October 5th - the weekend of my daughter's long-awaited wedding. We took over. Every room. At first, everyone was "omg - we're all a minimum of 3.5 hours away - WHY!!!" As Mother of the Bride, I had a lot of work on this wedding, and Connie was my first contact here. She made everything perfect from the onset. My husband and I visited about 3 weeks before the big day to lock down decorations with Connie in the amazing barn. She made us feel welcome & was so incredibly helpful. We left with a feeling of control, where before I was just frazzled. I knew she understood my vision for the decorations and would do everything she could to make it happen. The house itself is a magical place with rooms tucked through this door, past the games, to up one of the two staircases, to behind that door off the parlor, to down the stairs through the solarium! Tea and coffee are always available, along with lemonade and water. They offer a variety of teas and coffee pods for all flavor lovers, including decaf. From this room we open to the grand solarium. Completely surrounded by the 2nd-story deck and porch with an outdoor fireplace! Big windows allow for streaming sunlight all day - it sparkles! Tables set here are for the 100% delicious breakfasts Sally whips up in the kitchen! The deck/porch off this room lent itself to the cocktail hour for the rehearsal dinner, where everyone had the most fun petting some of the many cats that live on the property! The stairs leading down from the solarium held two more rooms. Anna's Garden room. The other is Houghtelin Hideaway Room - wow! This was our room. While not technically an "old" part of the house structure, it oozed aged refinement. A large king bed was the highlight with the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in! I seriously need to know what it was - I peeked under the sheets and did see a foam topper, but that couldn't be the whole secret! A big 1920s oak 'set-back" dresser gave ample room to put our clothes away. smart lamps on either side of the bed lent some modern convenience with USB ports, plugs, and such. A beautiful vanity sat as a use for either a desk or a vanity with a large mirror over. There is also a bench with a large mirror over - plenty of "getting ready" mirrors. A closet with overhead light helped to hold out garments, bags, with hooks set extra high for gowns and such. The other side of the room held a huge leather sofa that you just sink into! Chairs and tables allow this area to be a nice conversation nook. The bathroom was a masterpiece in itself! A huge walk-in stone shower with both a hand-held wall-mounted spray as well as an overhead rain shower head. They also supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in a wall-mounted dispenser. The enormous soaking tub was well used by myself three times! The vanity was well lit with so much room for things underneath with open shelves. A door out of the room at back led to a small patio area with a table and chairs and a path that leads directly to the wedding garden. Everyone there did everything possible to make my daughter's wedding weekend a magical event, and I truly hope we didn't overwhelm them too much! Right to the moment we pulled out on Sunday morning, watching the house fade in the mirrors behinds us - we knew we would be back again and again. This place felt like home. My husband and I stayed here in May 2023 for a weekend and it was nothing short of amazing! Such beautiful grounds with tons of rich history. The historian in the mornings was such a lovely, interesting touch. Super close drive to everything in town while still being its own little haven. AND pet friendly so we brought our dog! It was one of the best trips. I was pregnant as well and they were very accommodating with meal requests. Speaking of, all of the food was amazing as well. Highly recommend!!! read more

Charming B and B with great breakfast. We were extending a business trip to take advantage of gorgeous September weather. They had a room, even though they also had a wedding that evening in their barn. Cute rustic set up for wedding. In the morning you can listen to a historian's lecture. Learned a lot. Fabulous breakfast served with lots of treats and options. We explored the pretty inn grounds before returning to the military park. For us, this was a wonderful spur of the moment choice. Absolutely beautiful B&B right on the back side of Big Round Top. The staff were super friendly and welcoming when we arrived, and I love the fact they encourage to use the mugs and to make yourself some coffee in the solarium (I need to go get myself the Hallmark sweater mug now because I'm obsessed). Our room was the dragoons room, and it was very clean. Beware if you're in this room though, the bed is definitely at a tilt. We were sad we couldn't see the barn until the next day since there was a wedding taking place, but what can you do. We were a little disappointed with breakfast though that there is only one option for the day. I understand with COVID it's trickier to have a more extensive menu, but would be nice to have toast or pancakes as additional options. read more

We stayed here with our puppy for two amazing nights, and even with a wedding event scheduled for that weekend, they treated us like their only guests. JD and all the staff were super friendly and definitely pup loving! We were also lucky to meet the owners and their daughter who went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The two most important aspects, the bed and the breakfast, could not have been improved in any way. We even had breakfast served to our room so we could eat with our pup. (The only place pups aren't allowed are in the dining room, which isn't surprising.) There are several trails around the property, a huge dog park, which we had all to ourselves, and plenty of places to sit outside all around the property. They do have several friendly cats, who will approach you if they think your dog is also friend, or they will avoid pups they aren't sure about. We really learned a lot during the daily morning history chats, given by local experts (Steve Gunlock was fabulous!). We were extremely pleased with our 4-night stay at the Battlefield B&B. We wanted a location close to, or on the Battlefield, and this location fit that requirement. The barn had served as a battlefield hospital, and the grounds of the Inn are beautiful. Breakfast every day was 5-stars, and the daily history presentations were outstanding! We enjoyed presentations by Michael Vice, Gerry Eak and Steve Gunlock, each presenting on different aspects of life before, during and after the battle. The entire staff was always kind and courteous, willing to assist at every opportunity. Someone else wrote that all B&Bs will be judged against the Battlefield B&B, and that is so true! A very special shout out to Steve Gunlock, whose enthusiasm to teach and impart the lessons of history is simply exceptional. read more

We came here for the history, of course, but we will be coming back again because of the hospitality and beauty of the place. Our experience here was excellent, and all of the staff members are amazing and do whatever they can to accommodate, like setting up a nice shaded spot for us to eat on the deck and always making sure we had enough coffee to fuel our trips around the battlefield. They have different historians who offer lectures, and ours (I'm sorry I didn't catch his name!) was a lot of fun and spoke about history in a vivid way that I appreciated. The grounds are stunning and if I wasn't already hitched I would absolutely get married here; the staff was setting up for a wedding when we were leaving and everything looked gorgeous. We can't wait to come back next time we're in the area. As a fun bonus, there are a couple of really friendly barn cats to play with. If you don't engage with them they'll stay away but if you like kitties and give them some love then you might find yourself cuddling three at a time! read more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a friend's wedding and all I can say is that this place is great. Not really sure why it's only 4.8. The inn and property are beautiful and relaxing. It is pretty close to the park, but still in the countryside. The staff there are friendly and helpful and the cats there are so sweet. Surprised people don't try to sneak them home, lol. They even have a local historian come out, Steve Gunlock, who did a great job with his presentation. Very friendly and knowledgeable of the area's history. This is a lovely B&B! They have the best barn that was transformed (by a party planner) into a gorgeous wedding venue. We were afraid it would be a little chilly during the Fall but the wind was mild and we grabbed blankets to keep our legs warm when we weren't dancing. There are more than 30 acres of grounds to walk, run or explore. There's a cute little flower/herb garden, a ton of kitty cats and donkey that will heehaw until you bring him apples. But you have to sneak them to him because the horse is greedy. The B&B is great for a wedding party or huge family! You can walk around and make it your home, eat together and then go out to explore the monuments. The house is a lovely historic home but that means it also comes with low water pressure and be patient with the hot water. The heat can be sensitive too so don't have them turn it up too much or flip the thermometer in the hallway...you could wake up sweltering. whoops! haha. They can just bring a portable heater into your room. That's the best solution. And they are super accommodating :-) read more

Perfect vacation!! This place is amazing and not a stuffy B&B! My husband and I traveled to Gettysburg for the annual Christmas tree lighting with our seven dogs! We stayed in Swan Cottage and it is a house, not a tiny bungalow. The staff is so welcoming and attentive, but you have all the privacy you want at the cottage. The king bed was so comfortable - my husband said he's never seen me sleep so hard. The cottage offers three tvs (you can stream Hulu, Prime, etc). A cozy electric fireplace, twin with trundle and full? size bed along with second whirlpool tub. Full kitchen, two shower options and parlor with pull out sofa. And two full size reclining massage chairs! Front porch and two small gated areas with additional outdoor chairs and tables. Perfect with dogs. If you have small toy size dogs, they can slip through the gate door so you just need to watch for that. Bigger dogs can push gate doors open so you just need to stand by gate door to prevent that. Minutes from town shops and restaurants and, of course, you are on battlefield since the battle was all over Gettysburg. We slept in so we missed the History Program - will catch next time. Breakfast is more like brunch at NYC's finest restaurant! Food was so good and portions were huge!! Again, just the best quality is provided your entire stay. Yes, it is pricier than motels in town, but you don't pay a pet fee and the Breakfast is easily worth $50 for two people each day. Keurig with coffee and hot chocolate packets available in main house. The "good orange juice" for breakfast. Tons of reading material and Civil War items in main house. And just hospitality galore. They leave baskets so you can put your soiled towels outside to be replaced. Quality bath products and even the softest toilet paper! No corners cut here. We have stayed at several places in Gettysburg and each place has its own positive qualities. If you can afford to stay at Battlefield, you will be extremely happy. The cottage is large enough for a family and cozy for a couple. We hated to leave. A lot of Bed and Breakfast places can be a bit small on personal space and a bit formal. Swan Cottage was spacious and we were in our own world. No complaints or suggestions from us! You have everything you need, including excellent wifi, without feeling as though you're in the modern world apart from the Gettysburg history. read more

The property is very beautiful, nostalgic and well cared for. Rooms are all unique and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious including fresh fruit and baked goods. The owners and employees were gracious and helpful. The best part was Steve Gunlock a historian who made presentations on the history of Gettysburg. We learned all about the human experience as well as the weaponry used during the battles. We were taught how to load and fire a musket. We saw artifacts that really brought his narrative alive. We stayed for 4 nights and completely enjoyed our stay. We stayed in General Merrit's suite up stairs and it was wonderful. The staff was more than gracious and so accommodating for some dietary needs. We ate breakfast in the Lincoln room at a different time as most of the other guests and we never felt like we were putting them out. The cooks, especially Sally, and JD, our host, were wonderful and so welcoming. Just stayed here a few days ago.. I was extremely eager to get here and spend some time on the grounds with the farm animals etc. I was a little disappointed upon arrival as I felt like the inn was outdated / could use some updating. Yes, I understand this is a Civil War era house and the decor may reflect that but it was moreso cluttered with things that your grandma would have in here house .. Knick knacks , dolls, stuffed animals on the beds , outdated color scheme etc. Truly feel bad even mentioning all that but it is the truth.. The place could use some freshening up. We just stayed for one nite as we were coming through town. Apparently the place is haunted too.. I mean how could all of Gettysburg not be? Around 1:30am we heard what sounded like something thrown down the stairs outside our room. There was no other noise and no signs of any guests being awake. (As most of them were in their 70s+ .. I don't know if they were capable of the noise) .. We shrugged it off, Thought it was cool and went on relaxing there. No more haunting experiences. At 8am we joined other guests in the dining room for a presentation from Mike Chambers regarding the Battle of Gettysburg. This was probably my favorite part of our whole visit. Mike was awesome ! So informative and down to earth. He shared so much and was passionate about his knowledge. We finished the presentation with getting to shoot a Civil War era musket ! Booking the room was easy, the staff was very prompt and helpful to respond to emails prior to booking and they even made my boyfriends favorite breakfast for his birthday ! So nice ! read more

My friends and I were on a roadtrip to Maine and decided to stop in Gettysburg for a couple of days on the way. My friend saw this b+b and was intrigued by the historical decor and the early morning history lessons before breakfast so, we decided to stay. The breakfast was great the first day, not as great the next. The water pressure in the shower was very low. But, other than that I cannot complain. Our room was beautiful and clean; we stayed in the 1st Texas infantry room. The staff was WONDERFUL. So polite and kind. The grounds were also very beautiful and picturesque. Loved all the animals. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and we're so glad we stayed there. Also, as far as paranormal experiences, we definitely felt like we had a few (mostly at night). It was interesting to say the least, especially considering how skeptical I can be. Just an fyi for people who enjoy spooky things. read more

Stayed for 3 nights with our border collie in the Tack Room! This place is amazingly cozy! It's spacious, beautiful, comfortable and private! We loved our room, (and even the ghost) . Breakfast is delicious! Hospitality is what you'd expect but so much more it was like being at home! Everyone should stay here! You won't regret it! The grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed being near the horses! The daily history lessons are an added bonus for history buffs! It's so Peaceful! Needed a quiet and calm getaway from city life! Staying here overnight and doing a ghost investigation with my local Pennsylvania TV show team PARANORMAL AFTER PARTY!! This place is beautiful, the rooms downstairs at the B & B are big and amazing with bathrooms that will blow you away with the stone work archway. Boasting 11 rooms inside the bed and Breakfast itself. The Barn on the opposite side of the property also has a beautiful Bedroom suite and upstairs is a place where you can hold any event. The Cottage is a separate entity in itself and fully furnished... The Grounds is huge and has a horse ranch with horses. And a bazillion cats running around...lol During our investigation we caught alot of spirit activity in almost every room in the place. Some more active than others but nothing malicious here. The activity in my room had me a little uneasy as the closet door kept opening by itself. Not easy for a sliding closet door to move like that. I tried everything i could to debunk and recreate the door opening but everytime i left the room. And went back in alittle while later...the damn closet was open yet again. Let me mention the 9am Breakfast...it makes you feel good knowing that I'll have that waiting for me, along with my name plate on the table. My own personal place setting. Such courteous, friendly service from start to finish... I love it here, and i would come back again, I can only imagine the beauty of this place in the summer. read more

What a lovely spot. The innkeeper gave me a warm welcome and showed me to my room. Charming and beautifully appointed. This was my first solo trip to Battlefield B+B (in the past I've come with my husband). I felt comfortable and completely at home. My family just loved it here. Nice small farm setting. Everyday you're greeted by the numbers of farm cats that live around there. A large sized home with several rooms that can cater to different groups. We were extremely happy with the North Carolina Battery room because it has a single main bed and two singles in a separate attached room for the kids. With a door :) Breakfast was freshly made each morning and served after a one hour presentation by a local Civil War reenactment member. Ours was Mike Chambers and he did an awesome job telling the kids how a soldier lived. The presentation was completely casual and voluntary. Hard for me to come up with any suggestions as we loved it just as it is. It would be a nice setting for a wedding with the nearby pond. They were in the process of adding on to accommodate for large parties. read more

My wife, parents, and I stayed here on a weekend trip to Gettysburg. Being a pet friendly B&B, my parents brought along their two dogs along for the stay. The property itself was beautiful with some rich history. Upon our arrival on Friday night, we were greeted with some fresh lemonade and cookies and about 15 cats hanging about. The decor inside the living room was very much of a historical rustic feel and included an old cooking fireplace. There were some costumes hanging up, a model depiction of part of the battle of Gettysburg, some comfortable sofas for storytelling, and in the next room some board games and books for reading. The dining room which was off this main living room had a modern classy feel. We ended up staying in the carriage home which is at the beginning of the property, about a 5 minutes walk from the main building. It had two bathrooms, a bedroom, and a pull out couch where my wife and I slept. The inside was very nice and clean and on the table were 4 bottles of craft root beer. The house also included two massaging chairs that were fun to play on. We had access to wifi and cable TV, which meant I was able to watch some playoff hockey games that were going on. The property is huge and has some nice walking trails when it's not too muddy. We went exploring on the grounds one morning and had a nice walk. They also have a barn and separate room that is used for wedding receptions. The morning here is INCREDIBLE! The morning starts out with a historian giving an hour talk in the living room about some of the events in Gettysburg. This talk is a must attend, as it does not discuss the typical and obvious events of the battle, but rather individual's stories and experiences around the battlefield. Very much worth getting there early to hear the talk. Breakfast is amazing as well, offering wonderful fresh fruit, coffee and tea, as well as a main course with freshly squeezed orange juice. It's obvious that Battlefield B&B takes much pride in their business, and enjoys showing off for their guests. It's in a prime location and has ties to the battle (I believe it was a hospital during the battle). Very beautiful inside, very beautiful grounds, friendly accommodating staff, and a great start to the day with storytelling and a 5 star breakfast! Would highly recommend staying here if you intend to explore historic Gettysburg. The staff and historian offer some great advice to align you with your interests in town. read more

We come to Gettysburg every other year at Thanksgiving, and, given my hubby's cat allergy, we have to stay at a hotel versus a relative's house. This year was the first time we've stayed at the Battlefield B&B...and we are happy we tried it this year. Upon arrival, you see horses, goats, chickens, barn cats, and other farm wildlife that live on this huge piece of property. We were greeted by the owner and Jerica (spelling?) who told us the ins and outs of our stay and showed us to our room...which was sizable, and really comfortable! I don't think I've slept in a more comfortable bed! Unfortunately, due to family brunches, we didn't get a breakfast here...but I could smell it cooking each morning and it smelled great! In addition, every morning they have a history talk about Gettysburg and recommend a lot of fun things to do in town. Stop by in the evening during social hour for a chat and a glass of local wine! Animal lover? The B+B is dog friendly and home to a slew of rescue cats and horses! Every time we've stayed here it's been a relaxing and wonderful experience- and we'll continue to stay there whenever we're in Gettysburg! As a Wedding Venue- WOW. The grounds are stunning. The property has lots of spaces (fields, gardens, a solarium, a historic barn) that you can use for different elements of your wedding. We used the beautiful wedding garden for our ceremony, the deck and solarium for our cocktail hour, and the barn for our reception and the farewell brunch the following morning. The staff was amazing. You couldn't wish for a harder working, kinder, more lovely bunch of people to be around on your special day (or weekend in our case). They worked so hard and were so great to us and all of our guests. We had our closest friends and family book out the entire B+B for the weekend, so they really had their hands full with us! I was the DJ for a wedding here on May 19, 2012. Arrived early to get set up and everything provided by this venue was already set up too. The chairs and gazebo for the outdoor ceremony (the grounds are very beautiful not to mention historic) were all in place. If you like rustic, this is the place for your reception. The civil war era barn was decorated very nicely. The proprietors are very friendly and service oriented. I would come back here again in a heart beat. My friend came from Canada to visit Gettysburg. We wanted to experience as much of the Civil War history as possible during our two day stay. The Battlefield Bed & Breakfast delivered everything we could have hoped for and more. The site is historic, with the original farmhouse dating from Civil War days. Inside is a parlor and dining room fitted with leriod furniture. The bedrooms are vintage Victorian - with modern bathrooms. The highlight of our visit came the next morning, when, before breakfast, a very experienced and colorful historian delivered a presentation of the life of the average soldier (on both sides) who came to Gettysburg. We just returned from a fantastic long weekend at the Battlefield Inn Bed & Breakfast and are already planning our next visit! Our experience could not have been better! The entire Staff was excellent from start to finish. The accommodations were great. Our breakfasts were so good and the lecture talks each morning were fascinating. We learned so much and it helped frame the visits that we did to other places in and around Gettysburg during our stay. We came to town specifically for the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival and left with a greater understanding of the battle and the town...with new friends from all over the country...an "unexplained" experience in our room (ghost?!)...and, a new favorite place to plan a getaway!! read more

We were thrilled with our stay in Anna's Garden at the Battlefield Bed & Breakfast. There were fresh cookies and cider waiting for us when we arrived and our puppy was offered biscuits and a warm blanket. The room was beautiful, large and very clean. We appreciated having direct access from our room to the lawn. Puppies go out a lot! We were pleasantly surprised to have a Civil War soldier in full uniform chat with us before breakfast. Finally, the food was fabulous and plentiful both mornings we stayed. I can't say enough how nice it was to travel with our dog and feel like he was welcome. We plan to return in warmer weather to enjoy the entire farm. read more

We won a one-night stay in a raffle to the Battlefield Bed & Breakfast, which we had never hard of before.from registration to departure, we experienced nothing less than utter professionalism and accommodating. Extremely amenable, they allowed us to choose our room. Based upon a review of the website, we chose the Tack Room, and were completely blown away. It was beautiful, comfortable, huge, and completely stocked with sundries. We had a little patio that opened to a pasture with a horse, a pony and a donkey, with whom we shared apples and carrots. The grounds were lovely and we got some photos. In the morning before breakfast, they offer a history talk on the Civil War, which was fascinating; we learned so much! The breakfast was scrumptious and quite generous in its portion size. When we return to Gettysburg to spend some time, we will definitely return to this lovely inn. read more

We had a great visit to Gettysburg and this place could not have been nicer. We actually had booked for just one night but after staying there we didn't want to leave! We ended up changing our plans and stayed over the second night. The staff was friendly throughout, the breakfasts were amazing and the rooms were much larger and nicer than most B & B's we've stayed at. Each morning a local Civil War re-inactor came over to give a one hour lecture. First day was on the history leading up to the Civil War and the second day we learned how to fire a musket! The location is just outside of town and the national park and convenient to getting around. Gettysburg is an awe inspiring place to visit and this place is a perfect setting to get into the sprit of the times. read more
