I called the owner and he set up a free estimate for a HVAC replacement at my house. This review is on my initial interaction and so far he's got five stars. He was super professional and friendly. I asked about a WiFi enabled thermostat and he is giving it to me at cost. He also offers a military service discount. So far I'm impressed with him. ------ Continuing - The owner of CATES, Chase, and his crew came today to install my new Heat/AC unit. I was at work so my wife dealt with them. She was really impressed with them. Not only were they friendly and professional, they even took time to answer my wife's questions and entertain three really curious children. They still get five stars. I will now recommend them when I gets the opportunity.

I let them take advantage of our family…read more TLDR: I believe they overcharged us. $409 for 5 seconds of diagnostics and 25 min of labor including 3 trips to the truck (one was to retrieve a replacement pin for one that had been dropped in to the wall), and a $60 part that they itemized as $340 on my bill. I called multiple times to speak with the field manager and was not able to connect with him. We had a leak in our shower that the technician with five seconds of looking at it determined he was 99% confident on what the issue was. He started repairs at 1:46 PM and finished at 2:11 PM with everything working. Our work starting window being (11-2pm) My issue comes with the fact that I think they overcharged us for the job that they did. After writing the check and thinking over the entire interaction, I began to feel very uneasy with how everything played out. I was not given a breakdown prior to the service beginning. Only a line on a phone to sign that I agreed to the price. I was not offered the opportunity to read what I was signing (nor did I ask, which is my fault.) no shoe covers were worn in our home which now has subsequent consequences for my time of needing to get out of the spot cleaner. Only after the project had been complete was I given an explanation of what labor went on (again my fault for not asking prior to). When I initially made the appointment, I was given the price for the service call, but I neglected to ask what their minimum job cost is (still not sure of what that is). Afterwards, I called the office trying to get a better idea of why the cost was so high. My frame of reference being that we had had a kitchen faucet and a disposal replaced within the last year with Fitzgerald and neither of these items including parts cost more than $400. The lady in the office was very kind and offered to put me in touch with the field manager. He did give me a call back after a few days however I was not in a place to chat with my Twins screaming in the backseat. I did call two other times to try and get in touch with him and have not received a call back to date. Overall, I learned a lot from this experience, and I believe it's important to share so that others understand how to advocate for themselves in an area in which they might not be technically skilled. Ultimately, they are well within their right to cash my check because I did agree to the price. I however will be asking a lot more questions next time, and probably be seeking a different company. I took their marketing for face value and feel like stewardship was mishandled. Our technician rusty was great! Very respectful that we had three children napping when he came to do repairs. After the repair, he explained to me what he did. Was very courteous to me. My only qualm was that he did not wear shoe covers and our home and had to walk through our master bedroom that has beige carpet and I will need to get out our spot cleaner to clean this up.

My original HVAC unit was probably over 20 years old, but the furnace was replaced about 10 years ago. His recommendation (unlike all the others, including the company that sold me the heater in 1014), was to hold off as long as possible on the heater and AC replacement - since they are both working and get the ductwork correct, thereby taking undue load off the existing systems, which should extend their life. The other guys, either knew, or should have known that the ductwork wasn't right, and that selling me new heaters and coolers was not the best way for me to go). Who knows how long my old AC will llast, but I can tell you that my house cools and heats much better after the ductwork correct. You guys have a loyal customer now, and I know who I am going to trust when I do need a new system. Thank you!

The water heater they replaced had piping running all over the place. By adjusting the position of the gas line they were able to move the water heater over and create some additional space. This allowed them to run the piping square and exposed the main water shutoff to the house, which was previously hidden behind the water heater. They also discovered a tiny, pinhole leak in one of our waterlines just in the wall, behind the water heater. The fixed it in no time. I would highly recommend Fayette Plumbing to anyone.
