I came here for a Middlebury College senior night and stuffed myself so full of incredible pizza that I nearly had to be rolled out. I probably ate two whole pizzas by myself (and I'm not a large person by any stretch of the imagination, nor am I a guy). My friend, Pots and Pans (P&P), and I had stopped at two nearby pubs when all of a sudden, bam, he wants pizza to finish his evening of food. As we had earlier stopped NEXT DOOR at Two Brothers Tavern, we decided to give Notte a try (note that Notte is owned by the same brothers as the tavern). Note also that P&P is from Queens NY and I spent most of my life in Yonkers NY, so we know good pizza when we taste it. Notte's menu is diverse, to say the least, and their Neapolitan-style pizzas are advertised as "thin-crust, brick oven pizzas" that "are approximately 10". We sat at the bar. After asking for a recommendation from Amanda and Cortni, I decided to not listen to them. I opted for the "Blue Pear" pizza, while P&P ordered the "Fun Guy!". Both were delicious. My first bite produced an avalanche of interesting flavors - the thinly sliced pear, shredded mozz, red onions, and gorgonzola were deftly brought together by the drizzled honey. His pizza combined wild mushrooms with mozz and parm, and was drizzled w truffle oil. Both were perfectly cooked and were as advertised. Neither is something you'd find in a typical NY family-run neighborhood pizzeria, but they were actually very excellent. I also learned that the mountain of arugula on top of my pizza was not supposed to be consumed as a salad, but was to be spread across the pie. Who knew? (Thanks, ladies!") Service was also excellent, and the bartender, Aaron, was friendly and efficient. Two other things to mention: (1) P&P bragged that he would finish anything I left out of my 8-slice pizza after he was done consuming his....actually, the WOOSIE only ate 6 of his slices while I finished my entire pie and offered to finish the remainder of his, and (2) Amanda and Cortni make the 45-minute trek from Rutland to Middlebury on a regular basis with Notte as one of their regular stops. We came to this town for a family memorial/reunion and have had nothing but the best experiences. This stayed true at Notte. As we were a party of ten, I won't bore you with the kitchen of food we ordered. But, what stood out for me was the "shrimp cocktail", which was an original and tasty take on a traditional shrimp cocktail - but hot, and the baby spinach salad which I had with pears and walnuts. I guess since this is a pizza place I should say something about the pizza. It was on point! My favorite was the five cheese pizza with pepperoni; a must try. A notable mention was the "pickle bomb". This isn't your dad's pizza, but was a different and interesting change of pace for one of my go to foods. For dessert, we literally tried them all. The stand out was the "banana cream pie". I was told this was amazing; as my uncle eats his piece with knife drawn and ready for battle. I will say I did not care for the "chocolate chip cannoli" - that's what is keeping me from giving this place a five star rating. It was just ok - the cinnamon was a heavy surprise. Here's where I have to make a special mention of our server, Aaron. He was EXCELLENT and helped make this place a great spot. He was fun, attentive, and helpful. Super yummy! We were starved and in dire need of pizza and beer after a long hike. The two brothers were up to the job. I ordered their kale salad, which was delicious--huge with lots of candied pecans. We got (and then demolished) the blue pear pizza (loved the arugula on it) and the margherita pizza (good cheese and spicy sauce). Our waiter recommended the Scottish ale, and it was a great call. Service was prompt and attentive. If we lived in the area, we'd be regulars. read more

The poutineeeee was amazing!!!!!! Best poutine I've had in a long time would totally recommend to any Canadian around, and trust me I know a lot about Canada. Also, the root beer was impeccable. I used an EAT-SIP combo, first a bite of poutine (gravy, cheese curds, magic) and then a sip of the root beer (rooty, bubbly, magic), would recommend this activity for anything attending this dining establishment. read more

I came into town to visit my parents. The usual place we order our pizza from was not answering their phones so we tried Notte. Best thing I did, Notte's pizza was far more superior. The next time I come for a visit we'll order from Notte again, and again. read more

Went on a Thursday night with my wife for my birthday. They have very nice atmosphere, great food and good service! We got the Cesar salad for a starter and then the margherita pizza and finished it off with their tiramisu. Excellent place, we will bringing our friends by soon. read more

Probably the best pizza I've ever eaten. Seriously creative , using fresh and delectable ingredients. Our Wait person was lovely and fun, Caesar salad was perfection. I want to start off by saying I came on Yelp specifically to review this restaurant after my experience here. I have resided in Italy for my husbands work brings him there often. I came back to be with family for after the holidays and one suggested we eat at Notte. I was hesitant because I had been to Two Brother's before and although great food I found some of the wait staff to be less than agreeable and the manager was not helpful when we had issues. So I gave it a second chance and went downstairs for dinner, let me get to the point with saying WOW! The pizza and antipasto was amazing, everything was made with such thought into the menu it was beautiful in taste and sight. Our server Amanda was very attentive, kind and genuine. We had another person who checked in on us and asked about the food, got us some refills on our drinks and talked with us for a good 5 min and her ability to talk about the food and the culture at Notte was refreshing and very genuine, same as Amanda. At the end of our meal I did ask to speak to a manager I wanted to pass along my feedback, and although the last manager I talked to was not helpful nor seemed to care I thought I gave this place a second chance so why not her. The manager came to our table and yto our shock the woman was Ali ( who I spoke of earlier) who had already checked in with us, had great conversation with us and many other tables who were dining at the same time. This shook our whole party of 7 because not many places do you see managers unless there is an issue, and we had already met her. Overall this made my experience at Notte a grand one because of all of that which I explained. You don't always get the feeling of caring from all restaurants but here I got that feeling and so much more and it was a wonderful experience I thought I should share with all of you yelp readers. To the owners if you do read these reviews, whatever you are doing today rather than 1 year ago keep it up because your service, your food made our visit a 5 star visit. To the chef, your insights on the pizza making them more Vermont topped with Italian style, my hat goes off to you. Also being from Italy I failed to mention you have a athlete that played for italy( not going to say who for their own privacy) who had represented us Italians for years, and now represents and amazing establishment. I was staying in middlebury for the night and went to Notte because the restaurant upstairs was full. The pizza was pretty good, and the penne carbonara was absolutely delicious. What really won me over was the quality service I received. Our waitress was in a hurry because a private function was coming in soon after we placed our orders. Even though she was pressed for time, she did not rush us. She was very accommodating, and extremely kind. She is probably one of the best waitresses I have ever had, I just wish I remembered her name so she can get the recognition she deserves. read more

When I want to have excellent food in Middlebury I think of Notte first. The menu is not extensive, but each item is excellent. Last night my husband and I shared a caprese salad. The tomatoes were amazing! I had the pear, walnut, and Gorgonzola pizza and he had the "Fun Guy" pizza (their amusing way to help folks pronounce the name of this delicious wild mushroom pizza). As is the case anywhere, If the place is really busy you may have to wait a while for your food, but it is certainly worth it! read more
