Being in customer service I understand people have bad days, but Lawrence from Midland Appliances had no excuse for his attitude and condescending tone. I told him I only had 20mins and asked for a specific refrigerator and that Coast has a promotion to see if he could match it. Not only could he not find the fridge but by the time we sat down and he agreed to match it, I had to leave. I asked if he could email me the quote and he straight up said "no". I asked why and he said, "I'm not going to send you something so you can shop me. If you want me to email you now, it will be to confirm your purchase." I wasn't sure if he was trying to hard close me but either way that is not how you talk to a customer. I was shocked and told him why are you arguing and speaking like this to a customer and he just simple kept quiet after so I left and immediately called in to speak to a manager. Now the reason why my review is not a 1 star is because of Stephan. He called me back within a couple hours and apologized on behalf of Midland and did his best to rectify the situation. I won't go into details as to what he did for me but I will say that if it wasn't because of his call, this review would be a lot worse. At the end of it all, I did end up purchasing a fridge from Midland because I believe in 2nd chances and hopefully this doesn't happen to another customer. I see others leaving negative reviews and it's easy to say bad things about a company but I also want to recognize the effort Stephan put in to try and make it right so this deserves to be posted. read more

A very bad decision to deal with Midland. Spent over $5000 on a Frigidaire Refrigerator, that showed up with a) a broken drawer, b) a drawer that wouldn't close, c) a shelf that was not properly attached, d) a drawer runner that was completely missing. I spent months trying to get any attention at all, and finally after kicking up a fuss, the manager gave me the 1-800 for the manufacturer and told me to call them. You'll get a much better price on your appliances if you buy them on line, and the service will be the same as if you dealt with Midland. Don't make the mistake that I did... prior to setting foot in their showroom, take a look at their on line reviews, and check their affiliation with the BBB (they are NOT affiliated in BC). I dealt with their Langley location, and it has been a complete disaster. Ultimately, I will end up having to pay for a patch-job for what was supposed to be a brand new appliance. The experience completely ruined what was supposed to be an exciting new kitchen for our home. You can do better. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Friendly staff. They explained thoroughly on how the products differ between brands and functionality. They are knowledgeable on their products and we even got a demonstration on how the fan hood works. They provided us a lot of input and pros and cons of our ideas. I deal with Midland Appliances for high-rise projects through their Multi-family division. Excellent customer service on the sales side. Documentation has been received in a timely manner and any questions responded to without delay. We have yet to receive the appliances on site (scheduled to start installation in January, 2020), but the sales reps Kevin and assistant Angela have made a point of visiting the site periodically to check on timing to be sure they have the stock when we need it. They brought potential issues with some appliance choices to our attention well before the order was confirmed to give us enough time to make changes if necessary. With other appliances stores within couple of kilometres, I can understand why they would have such terrible service. Forget the left and right hand, I don't think the left and right foot communicate either. I phoned in before the virus issue and had fridge delivered. They damaged it when taking into the kitchen and said they would come back. Next day they shut the business. If you are satisfied with product knowledge being simply "this button is for..." then you should try moving up a notch to Scott's style of service and information. His expertise on how to use each appliance was stunning. He asked great questions about how we cook, do laundry, live and what we want from our years of experience with each appliance. I bought my stacking washer and dryer from these guys. From start to finish this was the easiest big purchase I made. This was a standard black friday good deal but I went to a place it wasnt advertised because I wanted a known appliance place. My sales person was Mark Crocker. I told him what I wanted and he sent me the Quote and matched the price. I told him I needed it delivered in days and delivered before 3pm.Done. The delivery team were fantastic they had a narrow stairwell and tight spaces to deal with and stairs. Super great guys! Very professional and highly recommend! read more

I have a very bad shopping experience at Midland in Richmond. I was looking for a microwave and a stainless steel frame to go with it. After picking out what I need the sales told me to consider the floor models and I went with it (a mistake) Within 2 hours I realized that the frame was a slightly wrong dimension and I went back to ask to change the frame. I got the feedback that the frame is custom order and hence it cannot be refunded. While I understand that this is the policy and it was my mistake for picking the wrong frame (note: it was a floor model, NOT special order from me), i feel they should consider the circumstances (I got back to them in 2 hours) as an exception, but they still refused no matter what. Okay, then I found out that the steel frame I got was missing two wooden support that was clearly documented as part of the product in the user manual. They REFUSED to provide it to me and only tell me to get it from home depot. At the very least, I would expect they buy it for me and not waste my time to get them myself (and pay for it). This was a horrible shopping experience (and I ended up ordering another frame from another supplier) and I would not recommend anyone to purchase from this store. Thanks Chi Ho read more

Referred by a friend as we are looking for a washer and dryer for our rental unit. We were told they have some good clearance appliances for good prices, so decided to check it out. While they have a warehouse at the back selling some appliances floor models or with minor cosmetic defects, they are mainly selling higher-end stuff. Back to our story, I think when we entered the store, they were about the close. A sales saw us roaming around the clearance floor and asked do we need help. I told him we do and his response was "sorry all the Asian sales were gone for the day".. the funny thing is the sales person himself is an East Indian (Disclaimer: I am not judging anyone by race but rather it is interesting the fact he brought this up while I am pretty competent speaking English). He then decided to help us. I told him our needs (something that's affordable for our rental unit). He then pointed at few units that are a bit out of our budgets ($2000+ a pair) and then told us "I guess you can't afford anything cheaper". We were pretty upset and left the showroom. read more

I have been searching for kitchen appliances, countertops etc. for a rebuild of my apartment. I have been doing this for weeks on end. I have been given mostly mediocre to zero help when looking for products. I was lucky enough to meet Clayton at Midland Appliances (Richmond location). He is so professional, patient and courteous, I would recommend anyone looking for assistance in choosing appliances to visit this location. Careful, I paid in full for a lot of high end appliances, after doing factory orders on them, as they said if I did not pay in full, they would have to charge me more, so like an idiot I did, now my Sub Zero fridge for my new house is missing, they sold the fridge to someone else and I am living in a house with no fridge. NO EXAGERATION! My fault for paying in full, I will never do that again and never deal with Midland ever, lots of other poor service issues. It should have been a good experience, after spending $60k with these guys, I feel ripped but nothing I can do. Buyer beware. read more
