The guys, Larry and Jason, love sharing their story. Their enthusiasm and excitement are infectious and their passion shows up in the carefully designed and tended farm. There are lots of blueberry bushes and different varieties of flowers that are available for picking. I didn't know there were so many varieties of blueberries, so I learned something. Each variety and where the bush is located can be a variable in the taste. They also have a big chicken coop with some very happy hens and a few very happy roosters. Great time for young and old. I wish I could be here for fig season (August and September), but that isn't going to happen for me. If you're in this area, though, you might want to make a trip here. Prices are a bit high, but when you think about what it takes for them as far as upkeep and maintenance, it's worth it. Everything is organic, sustainable , and environmentally friendly.

We arrived at 4:30 & they'd actually run out of the cut flowers- very popular! The owners offered a 'pot your own' plant instead- which was actually a cool idea. They were hospitable (helped me pick some plants based upon what I was needed) and seemed to actually enjoy being there. We explored the (currently partial) petting area- goats!- and the grounds, tho the business day was winding down. Really enjoyed our stay & looking fwd to going back for some more well-loved plants from within the greenhouse.

I have purchased strawberries from the Harrisburg stand but I had never been to the actual farm until today. I've been missing the Harrisburg stand all season long. But as I was on my way back from Raleigh today on 49, as if by magic, I saw the Cody Strawberry Farm sign. I was so excited and I immediately turned and went to the farm. I got about halfway down the road I thought to myself, "They probably don't take cards." And I quickly dismissed the thought and said "Everybody takes plastic now." Sure enough, when I got to the stand and ordered my berries and slushy, I pulled out my plastic only to be told that they only take cash or checks. Determined to get my goodies, I decided to head to the nearest ATM back in Richfield. The nice lady at the stand let me take the slushy anyway. I assured her I would be back to pay for it all. After about 10 minutes, I returned for my berries. She was kind enough to still comp the slushy since I went out of my way to go get the cash. That's great customer service! The slushy was absolutely delicious and the berries are too. So glad I finally caught them. Can't wait to come back! This is a great field trip for the kids. Just be sure to bring cash.

‼WARNING‼ (Neglected goats) Last Saturday I took a trip from Ga-Nc for two goats. The seller…read morecontacted my through this group here under the name Stacey carlisle. Stacey stated that the 2 year old mother and 10-12 week old baby were in good health and never had any Heath concerns or issues present or past. Well upon arrival we see tons of goats and but everything looks ok until we seen their farm dog with feces, and who knows what all mad and threw its long fluffy hair and coat.then we walked into the MN pen and there was a very large amount of goats all together in a rather small area sitting on a saturated pile of old hay the oder, of feces was strong but expected with that amount of animals present. I did have to bring my bottle 2 week old baby with me and was holding her the whole time so when the husband "Jason carlisle" found the goats i heard some coughing and sneezing but figured it was just allergies and baby's feeding. But immediately upon my father, picking up the baby. he heard raspy breathing and asked Jason "why?" We got fast response that she just choked on the bottle that morning but about 1hr into our dive she was coughing a lot and started to have some mucus in her nose. When we told Jason he simply said I can just bring her back but at that point that was a 2 hr turn turn around into our 7 hr drive and we were told she's in health so we continued on and didn't get home untill the night and she never stopped coughing. they were penned fed and watered but I noticed old poop matted to the baby's fur and tail. So next morning I cleaned them up cut out the poop and took the baby to the Vet where she had to stay 4 days for pneumonia of the right lung and high parasite loads of 5 different parasites !! As well as being anemic Due to this news the mom was also examined and at 2 years of age was only 45 pounds loaded with all the same parasites but at extreme levels. The sellers refunded me the cost of the baby, but I warned them about their herds condition with no acknowledgment or reply. I highly recommend not supporting this farm

Back in the 1980's and early 1990's, this festival was called Stumptown Festival…read more Just before I was born (in the 1970's), my parents, older sister and brother lived mere blocks from here and would walk to the parade then the festival and walk through the booths. Eventually, they moved a few miles away, then my younger sister, and all 6 of us would come to the parade, then walk through the area with booths carefully avoiding the ride area as my parents could not afford to let us ride any of them, or buy the food. Fast forward to my teenage years in late 1980's, early 1990's, where we would come with friends, ride the rides, go through the booth area, buy all we wanted. My last actual time I was able to walk through the entire festival was back in 2003, when I came down to help my mother after a surgery. My last trip to Charlotte (Labor Day weekend 2018), I dragged my parents here on the Sunday. We were early-ish. We walked through some of it, but were unable to enjoy the full affect as they were still opening. This is a small town festival that is fairly inexpensive to do. Homemade items for sale. Some of the booths with items for sale are in the elementary school, which has been updated since the last time I was here. There are stages with live music, and other entertainment. It was 7PM. I'd just gotten my car back (I have it on Turo, which is basically Airbnb, but with…read morecars). Having been in the house all day, I hadn't been able to keep my streak going on Pokémon Go! This being an inscrutable state of affairs, I decided that, instead of driving home, I'd head to one of my main Pokémoning sites: downtown Matthews. I arrived, parking as I do most often in the library/town hall parking lot (small town = multi-use public buildings. The court house in chapel hill is also the post office for example). I takedown all of the gyms in the area, set my guys in them, and then go Pokémon walking. To my pleasant surprise, the legendary gym I was walking to happened to fall smack-dab in the middle of a whole festival! I'm never one to turn down the opportunity at giant smoked turkey legs and deep fried Oreos - both of which are available at multiple vendors along the main walk - so I decide to stop Pokémoning for the moment and take in the event. Live music is a wonderful thing, and they have an entire soundstage set up just for it. The genre of choice seems to be bad country, which ain't my bag, baby, so I keep it moving. I recommend going at night. There are few things in life as immediately disarming as neon lights against an ebony sky, especially when those lights signal funnel cake and rides. Oh yeah, there are carnival rides in full effect. All the good hurlers, too. The ones that make your kids sick. The ones from which memories are built. Anywho, so there I am, hunting for the best giant smoked turkey leg, when I catch the Devine odor of cured pork fat. I know this can only mean one thing: bacon. There's a vendor that wraps everything in bacon. EVERYTHING. IN. BACON. I had bacon wrapped BBQ. That's right, I was in pigception. And it was glorious. I also had a pretty decent crabcake sammich (bun as set dressing only, I swear) and I cheated a bit, and got a refreshing frozen blueberry lemonade. I didn't stay long, but what I saw left a good taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). Then I went back to catching all the Pokémon, so, you know, I was productive.
