It was extremely dry and frankly tasted burnt. I think it's the Oreo chunks that are what coat the cookie. The Captain crunch cookie was actually my favorite, which was surprising to me because I love chocolate. The Nutella filled cookie as well as the crème brûlée were both OK. I was really disappointed with my experience here. I specifically came during the hours listed online, but the store was completely closed with no explanation. No sign, no updated hours nothing. It's frustrating to go out of your way for something and then be left guessing whether they're actually open or not. First off, I thought it was Nightowl cookies. Realized once I got to the front door that it was not. I said you know what let me give them a try. I walked in. There was no one in the store and no one behind the counter. A young lady came around from the back, took my order, I ordered two different cookies to try one that is Labeled as almost the same as one of the night owl cookies and one that looks like a different flavor I've never heard of. So I ordered guava Maria and crème brûlée I think the cookies might've been microwaved. I'm not 100% sure but they came out super fast and super hot. When I took a bite of the crème brûlée, I spit it out immediately. The torched top was like gooey and soggy not crisp like a normal or standard crème brûlée torch top is. And the taste was so bland I wasn't sure of what I was eating, something sweet or just some kind of grain or meal. The guava Maria was also very disappointing and lacking flavor. I was looking for the guava chunks inside the cookie which the cashier had confirmed that there are bits of guava in the cookie. I found one the size of a dime. And then a light guava drizzle on top. The cookie was horrible . Bland and pretty much tasted like meal or oatmeal or just a bland grain. I will never go back and I hope that those who read this realize that this is not night owl cookies. The pursuit of finding sweet on a late Monday night was starting to look like a futile endeavor. Most bakeries close early and the ice cream shops mostly close by 9 pm. As I was looking at Yelp, searching for desserts (making sure not to type desert since there is nothing sweet there, as my friends in Arizona can vouch for that) a store named Midnight Cookies and Cream, which is actually open until 1 am (they need to rethink the store name) was like a ray of rainbow beaming upon me from the night sky. Since I had never been there before, I used the GPS to guide me, and I found myself in front of an empty store in a mall. Suddenly that sweet light had vanished like a candlelight in the middle of a storm. Not wanting to go back empty handed, we reluctantly went to the McDonald's that was nearby, but the silence of disappointment was too loud to be ignored. While waiting in the drive-thru line, I checked the map closely and I realized that the GPS had taken us to the wrong store. After going through the drive-thru, just in case, I drove to where I thought the store should be, and sure enough, the lights of the store were inviting us in. The ambiance and the decoration of the store took us to a candy land, and suddenly the 5-year-old versions of us were running up and down the counter, trying to decide what to order. I was actually a bit disappointed that a unicorn did not show up to take our order, but maybe her shift was over. We ordered ice cream, cookies infused with Nutella, and me, not questioning my manhood, ordered a rainbow shake. Everything was as good as expected and we started to wonder what to do with our order from McDonald's. So, their vegan cookies are not truly dairy free. My husband got a vanilla shake with vanilla crumbs and rainbow sprinkles- it wasn't very good. Heard this place was opening and definitely went to try it out. It was hard to find late at night behind the closed Chipotle. Cute storefront and decor. The screens in the back displaying what they offered showed overlapped information that was hard to read and some of the cookies weren't in the description screen and still needed to be asked by the staff. At one point one staff member (guess a supervisor) had to reprimand the other for playing with the fake cookies on the stands. The cookies were $3-$4 and were sizable for the price. I purchased a chocolate chip and a creme brulee. My thinking was that if you make a good chocolate chip you cant really do wrong by the rest. Unfortunately, I wasnt really impressed with either. The brulee was dosed in sugar so much so it was close to inedible. The chocolate chip cookie felt slightly underbaked vs soft baked and tasted like sugar cookie dough mixed with chips (a little too sweet as opposed to the chocolate acting as sweetner). Im never big on the over the top cookies but a friend who bought 4 different from mine, still found them all a little too sweet for her liking. The pricing for the cookies is okay, but the shakes are highly overpriced; you're better off going to Sonics, Steak N Shake, and Wawa if a shake is what you're in the mood for. It's the same or worse quality than from the establishments mentioned. I tried the Guava Maria cookie for my first visit and it was okay. The cookie is served warm and moist - pretty enjoyable aspect - but the toppings were served on the skimp side, leading to disappointment. The Maria cookies should've been crumbled and there was so little gauva and cream cheese frosting that it was insignificant to the overall cookie taste. I would visit again to try different cookie flavors (would never get a $10 shake here again) and see if maybe I just visited during a bad time with the wrong workers, but I don't have high hopes tbh. I feel like the outside was TOO hardened by half an inch. The red velvet cookie came HARD/bitter/way over cooked. The bottom was dark brown. Comparing these to Night Owl, where ALL the cookies all the time are oozing warm and floppy soft, yes these are waaaay bigger/fatter. So, I think this affects the cooking consistency. This one is so soft on the inside with the perfect crunch around the edges. After finally trying this one I can understand why it was a fan favorite. Creme Brullee: this is there cookie with white chocolate chips and vanilla chips topped with a vanilla custard and then torched. The cookie is given you to warm, so the curstard is still gooey. I prefer to eat this cookie the next day because the custard then hardens a little and thats the way I like it. Chocolate Chip Brownie Bomb: this one is huge! its literally a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with a chocolate chip fudge brownie. I mean WOW come on. this one is always a good go to when ordering a bunch for a gathering. Sweet Shot Cookie: this one is a HUGE doughy cookie stuffed with a syringe filling of your choice. I tired it with white chocolate sauce and it was super sweet and very good. If you have a major sweet tooth then this one is for you.
