The air system in my trunk sits on a custom wooden layout so it needed to be handled with care. I was happy when it was returned to me IN PERFECT CONDITION, which means a lot to me! THANK YOU! BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! List of questions I ask myself when choosing a shop: 1. Who will be working on my car? There is one too many shops who have less than qualified staff to perform the tasks required. I have had horrible experiences prior where the techs are not qualified and the shop owners value QUANTITY/VOLUME/MONEY over QUALITY of work. This is not the case at Midnight Garage. Miguel and his partner Rafael are Midnight Garage- nothing more and nothing less. This means that you if you were paying a dance studio for dance lessons, then Michael Jackson himself would be teaching you to dance. 2. Does the shop respect my time? Another thing I have noticed which really sucks is shops wasting my time. If you are going to give me a scheduled time to drop off my car, then honor it. One too many times I have dropped my car off at X time only to have it sit there for hours or a day before it's actually worked on. This is not the case at Midnight Garage. Miguel reserved my time so that MY CAR IS THE ONLY CAR being worked on at the given time. No mumbo jumbo unorganized staff running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to meet deadlines and rushing their work, which in turn causes mistakes! Midnight Garage is 1 car and 1 customer = exclusivity and respect of your time. 3. Is the mechanic professional? From the 1st time I spoke to Miguel on the phone, I knew I had stumbled across someone who knew what they were talking about. He spoke to me with respect, was knowledgeable and most importantly, was passionate about being a master of his craft. If you have ever heard the saying: "Do what you love and you'll never work another day in your life". Miguel is the definition of the preceding quote meaning that he loves what he does as opposed to someone that just does their job for a paycheck. There is an enormous difference when someone touches your car and doesn't really care versus someone like Miguel who treats it like its his own. The results speak for themselves. 4. Is the shops pricing competitive or outrageous? There is nothing worse than shop who charges an arm and a leg AND STILL CAN'T GET IT RIGHT. Usually, one would think: "You get what you pay for". Or "Good help ain't cheap, and cheap help ain't good". Think again. Miguel was very reasonably priced and the quality of work was top tier. I hate it when I am paying outrageous hourly rates and getting my car back with a new scratch or some crap like that. 5. Does the shop stand behind their work? This is a crucial one for me since I supplied my own parts. A lot of shops out there will not let you supply your own parts because they are too lazy to possibly become the middle man if a part is faulty. Miguel told me to contact him if anything went wrong meaning he stands behind his work, honors what he does, and takes pride in honing his skill. I almost didn't choose Midnight Garage because the shop that referred me to them said they mainly work on classics and trucks, but that all changed the second I talked on the phone with Miguel. Please allow me to explain why. Miguel, the owner of Midnight Garage, was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and helpful in answering all of my questions regarding the suspension/wheels job. Miguel then proceeded to give me the best quote out of all the businesses. Not only that but he was able to set a tentative date for us to meet so he could work on my car. This is my second time using Midnight garage for my 4runner. The first time was good with no issues, unfortunately this time around was not as good. I really wanted to leave a 5 star review but I have to be honest in hopes that it'll make the owner better for future customers. I requested Miguel's services to install a front bumper, lift kit, new tires, light bar, diff breather kit, and new wheels on my 21' 4runner. I'll list the cons first. Cons: Communication was difficult at times, long periods would go without hearing back from questions or requests. Not the biggest problem but communication is key with customers. Timing was a bigger problem for me, we agreed on a drop off date of Thursday with a Friday afternoon pick up. Upon arriving Thursday I was informed the pick up would have to be Saturday afternoon. Things happen so I understand. However, it was further delayed to 6pm that Saturday due to Miguel not having started the work until the day of. That means my car sat there 2 days while I could have used it back home since it was not being worked on. Again, communication. Most of the work was good, but after inspecting it further after pick up, I noticed a couple flaws, one being a cut on my bumper that is visible beyond where it needed to be cut. I'll attach a pic. While it may not be a huge deal, I'm paying a decent amount of money so it's fair to expect a better outcome. I now have to look at this imperfection every time I walk past my car. The trim that outlines the bumper cut is uneven on the sides so it leads me to believe the cut isn't equal, so I will have to pull off the bumper and trim and see what is underneath. I also requested Miguel to save the front valance since I had someone willing to buy it, he cut it off instead. Granted he discounted the price I intended to sale it for so I appreciate him making it right. I also requested my fenders not be cut for tire fitment. My wife pointed out that they were in fact cut, also very rough and uneven lines. I tested my light bar which is installed on the bumper and it seems to point down to the ground, so I don't think Miguel checked the alignment. After looking at it more, it does appear to be slightly tilted down so I'll have to remove the bumper regardless to take care of it. Pros: Lift is solid, appears level with a good alignment. Miguel did express some concern about the alignment not being perfect but so far it has been good to us. Diff kit appears to be installed flawlessly. Tire and wheels are good to go. Overall I like Miguel and wish him well in his business, but considering how much I paid, I would have expected better service. I feel like he rushed my project. I can't say I'll come back based on this experience but perhaps we can all take it as a learning experience. read more

Miguel runs a great shop. He takes the time to answer your questions and doesn't talk down on you if you don't know your stuff. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. Miguel will make suggestions based on what you're looking for, and not once did I ever feel pressured to buy something from him or upgrade to a more expensive suspension kit. His component prices are fair and honestly I felt very lucky to find this shop. I got the Bilstein 5100s for the front and rear with OME rear springs and SPC UCAs for my 5th gen 4Runner. The install process was quick and easy and Miguel had me come back after 500 miles for a check to make sure everything was good with the new suspension components. The car came out looking great. He's a one-man shop, so be patient when you try to get a hold of him. But when you do make contact, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointment with the service and professionalism. I have a very low tolerance for auto shops nowadays since it's very hard to find good ones that can be trusted. I called this place due to 5 stars to a relatively small sample size of reviews. The person who answered the phone sounded friendly and said that they can absolutely help me with my catback installation. Great! He then says he may not be able to book me in until the following week. But requested me to send him pictures of my exhaust and he'll get back with me. I sent him a few messages with pictures. And then silence. It's been 2 weeks and no reply nothing. If a shop can't even make sure to keep up with their follow up and communication then that is a red flag for me. Most shops either didn't respond or were charging an exorbitant amount because the car is foreign. Even though the install is similar to most cars. I bought a new 2020 Ram and I knew I wanted a suspension lift and tires/wheels. Since it is a new truck I was very particular about who worked on it. I didn't know much about offroad customization. I checked out Bay Area shops and even shops in the Central Valley. Midnight Garage seemed to be a great new shop. I sent out a price quote request blast for suspension lift and wheels/tires. Miguel reached back to me within a couple of hours and later so did a few other shops. He explained some of the options. I went with a 6inch suspension lift, Fuel Vapors 20s and Nitto Ridge Grapplers 37s. I asked if he could install exhaust. He does so he explained the different options. I went with Magnaflow because I wanted a deeper sound not necessarily a louder sound. His turn around time is great. Took him a couple of days to do all the work. Everything came out amazing. His installation is clean and detailed. He was available through Yelp messenger, text or phone calls throughout the whole process. I drove an hour to get my Icon coilovers rebuilt and it was well worth it. I found Midnight Garage on yelp and I reached out to Miguel through yelp and requested a quote for rebuilding the coilovers on my 4runner. He got back to me within the same day and was one of the only shops where I could take my truck, have them pull off the shocks and rebuild them in house the same day.
