The fog light on the passenger side of my 2016 Cayman S stopped working. This LED fog light also serves as day time driving light. It requires to take down the front bumper in order to access the light, an unusual way of design of Porsche. I decided to ask Edge for help based on my past pleasant experience with them for the brake work of Cayenne. Edge did a thorough initial inspection on the car at first. They found the driver side exhaust manifold is missing a fastener to cylinder head and confirmed the other bolts were still tight. They also checked tires, brakes, rotors and brake fluid, and gave very helpful advices. At first Edge tried to reset the error code for a quick and cheaper fix. This trick did not work. Then Edge carefully disassembled the front bumper and found the LED light was still good. They found the wire was broken, could be chewed by rodents. They fixed the wires and put everything back meticulously. I was so happy to see the car was back to work when I picked up the car. Only after arrived home, I sent Edge a message asking about the missing fastener and the wires of the fog light on the driver side. Edge answered by texting very promptly, another pleasant surprise. They confirmed the bolt was replaced and tightened, the wires of driver side fog light was inspected and confirmed in good shape when they took down the bumper. In summary, Edge not only did an excellent job on the work that I requested, but also went extra miles to inspect and fixed other safety related issues. Their reports, with abundant pictures, were very detailed and easy to understand. Unlike Porsche dealer, the bill that Edge charged was reasonable and rational. I used to maintain my cars most of the time. Edge now is my priority choice when these ponies need professional services. PS. When I mentioned rodent might be the cause to my son. He told me he parked the Cayman under the shade in SF on one hot evening for three hours. There were some leaves and twigs stuck in the front wheel well of the passenger side before he drove away. This is a mid engine mounted car, front was cooler. Indeed, rodent could be the cause. PPS. The car has been back for one week. No rattling was found while driving. Good job, Edge! read more

Great communication & thorough! After a recent purchase of an E46 M3, I was reminded the hard way the importance of a PPI. The folks at Edge MW made a bitter pill go down easy-ish. My initial request was to change all fluids and plug a small oil leak. The shop came back with several pages of observations to make the car reliable. The big things included a new oil pan, suspension, subframe reinforcement, differential seals, brake pads and a few "while we're in there" items. Derek and Anthony helped prioritize the work needed, and laid out options for the parts. Zero pressure. It helped to know that they race these machines and have a fluency with making a BMW last under stress. I picked up the M3 a few days ago and couldn't be happier. Anthony and his team did meticulous work transforming my rather tired old 1994 Miata R package from a creaking mess to a car that rides better and handles better than my friend's 911. They installed a custom suspension designed by Shaikh at FatCat Motors and repaired 15 years of deferred maintenance along with a custom alignment for the new suspension and a 4 corner balance. If they find any issues with your car they will tell you what YOU can DIY or where else to go -- without trying to force you to have THEM fix it for you. I've learned a lot from them to do my some maintenance myself, but also I'm happy to pay them to do it for me if I'm in a time crunch, or if the job is beyond my skill. I started corresponding with Anthony about a month ago on the phone in regards to my 2018 M2. The goal for my project was to install a coilover suspension that would vastly improve the handling over the stock setup. We continued our correspondence on email. Anthony answered all of my questions and recommended a coilover suspension that would meet my needs. My car was not able to turn on after driving it normally. Since I was stuck in a parking lot in Fremont, I decided to have my car towed to Edge in Fremont based on all the google and yelp reviews. I was quoted ~$200 for a diagnostic report of my car. The diagnostic report was detailed and I was satisfied with their work. Since I had the car in the shop and the car was back to operating normally, I figured I do a oil change while the vehicle was in their shop for several days. I was quoted $179.00 (without tax) for a BMW oil change; which is more expensive than BMW dealerships in the bay area. In my head, I was disappointed because up until this point I was satisfied with their work and analysis. I know I am free to take my car else where, but I find shops like this extremely shady to over charge for a oil change. I understand quality labor comes with a high cost, but a oil change at $179... I respected the price and declined the oil change over the phone. The funniest part of all of this is the manager tried to justify the price in person to me; stating that BMW dealerships are able to purchase in volume & bulk which is why they are cheaper (I had to hold back my smile and laugh). To me this is a insult of my intelligence, any person with a internet connection can research the approximate price of a BMW oil change. Because of this oil change experience, I would not recommend or trust them with a more serious job. After coming home and re-reading their 5-star reviews, I honestly, do not understand all of the 5 star reviews here. I just can't imagine them having this many 5 star reviews based on my experience. Don't be bothered by this, they are not trying to charge you more. Instead, they would simply rather you know more than decide unwarrantedly on your behalf what you should know or what you shouldn't worry about--like many mediocre shops tend to do. If faced with a list of repairs, you should definitely ask for priority in various jobs, unless you work on your own cars and know this priority already. (2) Professionalism: there are no surprise charges or miscommunication with them because they keep you constantly appraised of your repairs, providing you with a headache-free experience. They also somehow manage to masterfully walk the often elusive line between familiar cordiality and cold formality. EDGE proves that to love cars you don't have to be a part of the toxic "bro" culture. All EDGE staff, including Anthony and Andrei are nice guys who happen to know a lot about cars and racing. (3) Respectfulness: even from your first phone call, they are not condescending about your older car, which happened to me with one highly rated local shop. Andrei did a custom alignment on my car and found a number of issues the BMW dealer had never mentioned, but I was able to go back to the dealer to get them fixed before my warranty ended. Furthermore, Anthony did a free inspection before my warranty ended (despite my willingness to pay), and I really appreciate that they were willing to help me make sure I get the most out of my warranty. While doing this, I mentioned I was missing a number of fasteners under my bumper that I discovered while putting in new headlights, and they quickly were able to replace the missing ones. I brought in my BMW to these guys (I worked mainly with Anthony, but also Andrei) because they were recommended by the smog test place next door. They really know BMWs, and I'm happy to have found them. I brought my car in for a thermostat, but they found much more during their inspection. I was given a long list of observations, which was a bit unexpected, but they talked me through what each of the issues were, how they were common for my car, and which needed to be performed at that time and which could wait if desired. Their thoroughness may lead some people to believe they are trying to get people to perform more work than they want, but I don't believe this is true. They are car guys and just want their customers to have all the information. For some people, it might not be worth fixing some things if they aren't planning on keeping their cars. For people like me that want to keep it running well for a long time, knowing what is actually wrong or going wrong is extremely helpful. They were very patient with me, explained the issues, showed me the car and their observations on the lift, and even showed me the parts afterwards. I'm extremely happy with the effort and the timeline, even if I wasn't expecting to have to pay for certain repairs. I didn't shop around, because they were so knowledgeable and confident in their diagnosis. Ultimately it's more than worth it, though. It's possible I could have had the work done for less elsewhere, but I trusted them with my car based on my conversations with them. Highly recommended. read more
