We had an Indian wedding event here and they were super accommodating. After the ceremony we had a buffet lunch. The mattar paneer and Naan were delicious along with the dal makhani and raita. They served mango lassi and Indian tea. Dessert was gulab jamun with just the right amount of sweetness. The decor is so different and distinct from other Indian restaurants.

This place has it all! The atmosphere is amazing as soon as you cross the threshold, you will know that you have walked into the Midnight Temple. There is no question. The decorations are very elaborate and beautiful. You can take the stairway or there is an elevator tucked away to the right on the ground floor. When you get to the second floor, where the restaurant is, you agreed by the lovely waitstaff who are extremely attentive. The menu has something for everyone and there is a fully stocked bar. The portions are more than enough to share and are so delightful. The music is always good. Depending on what time you come, it can be an crowded situation and there are a variety of options for seating. Some make you feel totally immersed into the setting with beautiful cushions and pillows. Do yourself a favor and go!

The food here is absolutely delicious and the vibe is fantastic. Drinks and ambiance were just as good as other reviews mentioned. The main drawback is service, the owner is clearly stretched thin and needs more staff to keep up. They were very upfront with guests about being short-staffed, which I appreciated, but I watched four different parties walk out after waiting for water, menus, or being told the menu was limited. If you're okay with a longer wait and a more relaxed pace, definitely come for the food, it's worth it. If not, it may be better to wait until more staff is hired. Even a simple "open seating" sign might help ease the confusion for customers waiting at the door. With some extra hands on deck, this place could truly shine. It's such a bummer to write this too because it's got a great space and food, but the wait staff is just not there - at all.

What a great surprise buried somewhere near Eastern Market. The decor here transports you straight to India. First time trying Palak Patta Chaat and it was so good, with a unique crispy texture that I did not anticipate. Chicken tikka masala was a little watery for my taste. Service was pleasant but very slow. We wanted to order more cocktails but no one really checked in on us to be able to do that. I would say above average, because there are more unique dishes I want to try.

I really wanted to love Midnight Temple because the vibes and atmosphere were super cool. The Manchurian chicken was tasty, but the paneer curry was way too salty -- so salty that I couldn't even eat it. What really brought the experience down was the service. The place didn't seem well-staffed, and the servers were inattentive. Every time we tried to ask for something, they would just walk away. I had to ask four times for napkins and three times for my drink. When we finally did get napkins, the same waiter came back later and actually asked us if we ever got them... it was confusing and frustrating. The only thing they were quick about was bringing the bill. But the worst part? I woke up the next day to see that my credit card was double charged. I wish they would do better with their staffing bc they have so much potential.

Bit of a snafu trying to make reservations, and when we walked in we didn't need them anyway. Apparently this is for a later set- we got there at 7, and people poured in after. Unfortunately no draft beer or wine as menu suggests - but had bottle beer and tasty cocktails. The wait staff take a team approach to waiting on you. We decided to eat ALL the breads - 4 on menu. The samosa wasn't what we expected - it was loose with some pasty so not in pastry. The everything else was amazing! Saag, lentils, goat and delicious chicken. So much food- all could sample and also some to take home . I really liked the laid back vibe and music was not so loud you could still talk.

Not my favorite Indian food experience. The vibe of the place was a little weird. As if it was trying to be a nightclub and not a restaurant maybe that's the vibe that they're going for, but it wasn't what I was expecting. There are a few little details that I found slightly annoying. In particular the chairs it seems like every table is equipped with some flimsy folding chairs that felt like they're gonna crumble underneath you. There were a couple of booths around, but maybe those would've been better. We also had some issues with the service. Even though they're only about five people in the restaurant during our visit, it took quite a long time before we were able to finally place our orders. Once the food arrived, it was quite a long time before we saw the waiter again. He never checked back to see how we were doing, and it was difficult to get water refills. The food itself was pretty darn good. We got chana masala and chicken tikka masala. Along with some paratha. Everything was really tasty, but the overall experience wasn't good enough to make me want to go back for more. They're too many other good Indian restaurants in the area that would be easier choices.

If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would. The decor was super unique, but when the place was largely empty, the dark lights and blasting music came off as kind of creepy. The service was prompt and helpful. The mango lassi was pretty good and the Hakka noodles were not bad, but definitely could have been a lot spicier for a medium. The chicken Manchurian was the best item and the portion size was large. While this place was nothing special, it wasn't bad at all.

If you're looking for authentic Indian food in Detroit, Midnight Temple in Eastern Market is the place to be. The vibe here is incredible, think cozy yet trendy interiors, a live DJ spinning great music, and cute, Instagram-worthy cocktails that set the mood just right. We ordered the Butter Chicken Wings, Cauliflower Manchurian, Muttar Paneer, Hakka Noodles, and Garlic Naan. Every dish was delicious, and the service was friendly. Can't wait to come back!

The service was fast ...the food was good and hot and lot of it. Love the decor. Love spicy food

The atmosphere was relaxing and calm. We ordered the Manchurian with shrimp and to drink hidden temple ( I am picky but the drink was soft and smoky).

Excellent and attentive service, I love the decor and ambiance, the food is delicious, and the drinks are tasty. The vibes are really good here. Spacious interior. I love how colorful and fun the space is! My lentil dish was so good! My friend's chicken dish was sizzling on a skillet and so tender. The garlic naan was lovely. I enjoyed my refreshing mango lassi.

It's been over a year since the first time I came here.... I HAVE BEEN BACK OVER 30 times THIS IS MY FAVORITE INDIAN RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I get the same three meals pretty much every time. The GOAT curry meal the FISH curry meal and the CHICKEN curry meal. I just call it that and they know exactly what I'm talking about! Also the MANGO LASSIE IS PHENOMENAL. The owner of this restaurant is always a vibe and is ALWAYS hosting some fun activities or inviting a small business to share their business with the customers! The events always brings something different! From painting with a twist, to art shows, to live Dj music, to wine tasting, crypto events, comedy shows, karaoke, it's honestly endless. I literally cannot stay away from this place the food is so mouth watering and plentiful and I love to add a bit of spice I've had a dish so spicy I was breathing like I just got done running lol! (I wanted it like that ) The rest of the menu I have tried a couple different things and I was never disappointed. The gobi was fantastic. It's a vegetarian dish and it tasted like a whole chicken! I'm tempted to have midnight temple teach me their ways of cooking, I would love to learn all Indian dishes on that menu THAT how good the food it's. As far as the ambience SHEESH everytime I step in the building it feels brand new. There are upgrades to the decor since the first times I've been here and I definitely love all of it. So comfy, more seating, they got a new alter in the lobby area, THEY ALSO HAVE AN ELEVATOR SO IF YOURE HANDICAPPED AND NEED ONE MIDNIGHT TEMPLE INVITES YOU! To sum it up I and my taste buds feel like no place will ever be as good as this one.

Here is the lay of the land: Check in at the little red table in the center of the outdoor courtyard if you want "full service". - which means eating and drinking at a table with wait staff. It is not seat yourself at the outdoor tables, like we originally thought. There is a nice sized bar indoors and seating at the bar is first come first served. We ordered several of the small plate "snacks" and I can tell you that the hummus is not to be missed. It is served with (homemade?) tortilla chips that are absolutely addictive. They have lots of choices for wine, beer, and cocktails. Towards the back entrance of the property, there is a drink truck where you can also order "walkaway" food and drinks. Not entirely sure where you sit with the food/drinks you order, as most of the seating seemed reserved for full service. Additionally, there is a photo booth for pics (long line) and Warda Patisserie is right next door and accessible through a garden walkway.

If you want to sit outside, all you have to do is order at the bar and they'll serve your drinks in plastic cups for you to take outside. The rhubarb pie punch was so delicious I had to order it twice! Probably one of my favorite cocktails I've ever had. I also ordered the maurixio cattelan, which tasted like ginger ale. For a snack before dinner, we chose to get the burrata and it was so refreshing. The service was great and our bartender was super friendly! The logo with the little lamb is adorable. I bought one of their wine glasses with their logo on it too for just $10.

The restaurant is decorated very nicely with warm wood trim. The bar area looked stellar and very French-bistro like. I will sit there next time No so Highs Food was good, but just OK. Between the two of us we had the beet salad, burger and steak tartare. Burger was good, but not the best smash burger that I've had. Beet salad was fine, however the cream cheese was a bit overpowering against the orange oil. It was dying for some citrus. Steak tartare was a bit dry, meaning that a small dab of olive oil would have added to the richness and overall mouth feel. I did not really taste the egg although I did see a dab of yolk on the tartare. Needed a bit of salt also to enhance the taste Menu was small, but it did cover a cross section of French bistro dishes. All in all, I thought it was a bit overpriced. So I will have to consider returning for a full meal. I would come back for a burger and beer at the bar.
