Definitely think this gym has a very steep price but how I see is that if I attend at least one class a week (plus workout on my own the other days), then it's worth it. Also, the instructors are amazing. So far I've tried the boxing class and Endure class as well as private sessions for a tennis lesson and the Pilates reformer (they offer 4 free classes that you normally have to pay extra for when I signed up) - all of which I've really enjoyed. Would recommend taking advantage of the free smoothie as well. I love how many classes are offered throughout the day and you don't have to worry about them filling up. There are always machines open as well and lots of squat racks. I wish that the ventilation for the boxing room was better because it got super hot during our workout. The outdoor hot tub is quite spacious and perfect now, especially since the weather is getting colder. The locker rooms and all the equipment are are very clean and well-stocked. You get a waterproof wrist band which lets you badge into the gym and it locks and unlocks your locker, which makes things so much easier since you don't have to carry around a lock. The parking lot can get crowded but the gym itself doesn't get too crowded. It would be nice if they had more events so ppl could get to meet each other because I joined this gym partly to meet new ppl. I do agree with the reviews below that it is a bit stingy for them to only allow us to bring 2 guests a year...my old gym in seattle, I was able to bring a friend each time I went to the gym. Instead of increasing prices, you should increase perks

My membership at Midtown is an indulgence for me, but it's worth every penny. To have a place that goes beyond the "gym" experience is important to me. I take advantage of a midday workout so I avoid most of the evening/early morning crowds. The cafe serves as a work-away-from home space. I like that it's often quieter in there than at a coffee shop. I can get work done and fit a workout in. The food is great too! I love their breakfast sandwiches like the breakfast BLT and the lunch sammies like the ROC tuna and Midtown Springroll. Sometimes I'll grab a green smoothie or the chunky monkey with protein. The gym itself is spotless. It's bright and open. Each of the machines have their own TVs, which for me is the allure. I temptation bundle so my workout is also my guilty pleasure TV time so I'll do the elliptical workout while watching The Pioneer Woman on Food Network. I also use the mat area for stretching and ab work. The pool is great too, I wish I had more time to enjoy it. But for the moments that I get to go out and relax in the sun, it's the greatest pleasure. I'll spend a day here - enjoy the lounge chairs, order food from the cafe, maybe a drink. Pure bliss. I've also visited the spa and had a lovely massage as a birthday gift. This is one thing I need to do more, especially for a spa pedicure and hot stone massages, which are my new favorite things. Despite its proximity to the workout area and cafe, the spa area is quiet and peaceful. In terms of some downsides, I wish the process to bring non-members to play tennis, enjoy a day at the pool, or for a round of paddle was easier. It's either costly or the person's used up their visits. I've gotten to the point where I don't suggest it as an option because it's a hassle to coordinate it. Not everyone has the funds to be a member so it'd be great to have a better system or to go through that process online, I'd love that.

Online yoga class with Randi Lattimore during HikYoga Virtual Fest!
    Lauren K.

During the HikYoga Virtual Fest, I attended an online yoga class with Randi Lattimore, who teaches at the Midtown Athletic Club. Let me tell you, if I ever find myself in Rochester, I would come seek her out specifically for a class here. Her Sunshine Yoga class was appropriately paced, contained approachable sequences and left me feeling great. Something I always appreciate is when instructors weave themes into their classes, and Randi made sure it was a mind and body experience.

I would move to Rochester just to belong to this gym! Seriously! My friend and I went to enjoy their spa. You do not need to be a member to do this. When you walk in, everyone is so friendly. They immediately give you a little bag with a robe and slippers. You pick a luxury tea bag in the flavor of your choice. The place is beautiful and seems to have everything. They have group classes, a ton of machines, a shop full of adorable work out outfits, a full restaurant and smoothie bar, outdoor pool and beautiful locker room facilities. As a spa customer, you can use the steam room, sauna and co-ed whirlpool. All facilities are clean, and very high end. They provide everything:towels, shampoo & conditioner, hair dryers, etc. The massage was really nice. The prices are so reasonable and everyone is friendly and professional. The pedicures were so relaxing-we even were given glasses of wine. Amy did my pedicure and was so sweet and did an amazing job! After we left we felt so relaxed! It was such a nice place and not stuffy in the least-such a wonderful experience! We also got smoothies the green machine was awesome! :)

It's a circuit training/HIIT style workout, where you roll around the studio and run through a series of different exercises designed to get your whole body moving and sweating and just in better overall shape. There's some work on machines (ski, treadmill, bike, etc.), weights, bodyweight exercises, and more. If you've ever done F45 or something similar, it's not far off, but it's a cool local shop with personable coaches in a clean environment with surprisingly nice facilities and even products in the bathroom for when you're through. Everyone we spoke with from the front desk to the trainers leading the session to the other folks working out seemed cool, and we'll definitely be back when we're in town. Like most workouts (and many other things in life), you get out what you put in. Meaning, if you come in ready to see what your body can do, you'll get a great sweat on. First, to start off the experience, I visited the Kinetix website and requested more information. Within 24 hrs a return email was sent and I had an appointment with one of the coaches, Zach. Zach was friendly, he showed me around the gym, and explained options. I did not feel pressured during the interaction. The gym is new and beautiful. The locker room is pristine and the member lounge has the perfect mid-century modern aesthetic. The 5 personal training sessions required prior to starting group classes didn't seem like it would be "enough" and to be fair, a lot of the movements I knew. With that said, the sessions were useful to acclimate me to the gym. And the sessions were also for the coach to ensure I could perform movements safely, which I appreciate. I was disappointed that I was not taught various Olympic lifts (my sister mentioned these were included in the "on-ramp" classes at her CrossFit gym). I mentioned my concern to Zach and he reassured me I would be taught various moves during the classes. Overall, I am pleased with my experience thus far and will update this review as I have more to say. To also note, Kinetix used to be called "CrossFit boomtown" though I am told the owners disassociated themselves from the CrossFit title as there are limitations when trying to grow their business and open additional locations.

I have been attending classes since December, which I purchase through class pass. When I started going, I was told it was permissable to stay and complete my workout after purchasing and attending a class (IE attending a strength class, then after running on the treadmill to complete my workout for the day). As time passed I started to meet people and made some purchases at the front desk for energy drinks/ etc. One day I attended a class and after ran on the treadmill (as I had done a number of times in the past). Once I left I got a notification my card was charged for a full day pass at the gym. Not once did someone notify me this occurred nor did I authorize it. I contacted a manager at the facility I knew, and they stated they charged my card as I used gym equipment after the class. I told them I was unaware of this, as I and many other classpass users thought it was allowed. I feel violated in a way because I was charged without any warning and they did not refund the amount. If I had known they were going to do this I would've left and ran outside!

"Coach" Stephen comes off as decent person on the surface, but his true nature is more fraudulent than anything. I want to be clear this behavior isn't shared by the other coaches as well, but solely him. I was enticed to join the program through instagram, where they advertised a 6-week transformation program. When meeting in person, I was explicitly told that the program was worth over 1,000$ (which clearly isn't true), yet i was being offered the price of 600$ for the 6 weeks I would attend. The true pricing that they offer attendees is either 39-49$ a week, which means I was charged double than the highest rate they even offer regular people. If this could be done to me, this could also be done to other people and I hope my review prevents this from happening to other people. The worst part is that he sells it to you as if your interest is truly on his mind, when his entire objective is to sell you on a dream. The only difference between the 6 week program and the regular classes is that you meet biweekly with a coach and log meals onto an app they have you download in the beginning. There is no special treatment and they even limit the amount of classes you can do within the 6 weeks. The slimiest part about him is that he had the nerve to shake my hand and smile in my face like he didn't lie to me. He doesn't even teach any of the classes there, he's simply the owner of a business trying to capitalize on those looking to better their health. The overall environment of the classes is great, the other boxers are nice people and the legitimate coaches are actually trying to see you do better. I just wish that there was more transparency on the pricing because ultimately I was scammed. I want to be clear this review has nothing to do with the progress I made during the 6 weeks, but I want to be sure anybody attempting to attend these classes knows exactly what they are getting into so that they don't end up getting scammed the way I did. I hope "coach" Stephen gets everything he deserves moving forward.
