I ordered a Deadpool/Batman #1 variant along with a bunch of other new comics. The Deadpool/Batman comic arrived with damage to 3 corners and the clear bag was bent and ripped. The staff member who bagged and boarded this comic for shipping was super careless. I sent photos of the damages and the person responding said they do not cover damages from the carrier. I explained that the exterior packaging was totally fine and this was clearly just mishandling by their staff. I asked to have it escalated to a manger. They took a long time to respond and finally someone who called themselves a manager (no name provided) emailed and offered 25% off. I really wanted a replacement but they were not willing and so I asked for a full refund on that comic. I still haven't heard back and no 25% discount applied yet. They really don't seem to care about customer service. I won't order from them again but wanted to share this with others so they know what to expect. Thank you. read more

I have never bought anything from here, but it's really fun to come here and window shop! They have so many comics, and lots of merchandise. They even have books! You can find merchandise for movies, shows, animes, comics, horror, and more. They only email, no calls, have you send pictures, and then tell you they will refund 25% off the damaged books or I pay to ship the books back for a full refund! The Midtown East Store on 45th and Lexington is my favorite spot. I've been shopping and browsing there for years, and Robert Battle, the store manager, always makes me feel welcome, as does the staff. This is more of a review of why comic books are good than this comic book shop, which I also rate high. Well as lots of my friends all know my grammar sucks and my spelling is real bad. The reason why is while I went to school in the Bronx I didn't pay attention in class when I should have and that went on for years until like the 8th grade. But along the way I did learn to read using comic books at the time. I began relating the pictures to the words and then getting comprehension of what that they meant in context to the comic book story and now just Webster's destinations. So maybe today the number of pages in a comic book is a quarter of what they use to be in my day I can imagine they are still useful. But like they say you need to learn how to walk before you can run. You got to learn to read from a simple sources before you can do the big books. By the time I graduated Junior High I made the honor roll and it could have been a different story if I didn't look at comic books. read more

I loveeee this place. It is 2 floors and has a large selection of everything. I have stopped getting single issues, and have been on a omnibus splurge lately. Some people have called me an 'omnibus whore', but i am ok with that label haha I come here frequently to get manga i need and new omnibus releases. The 2nd floor is full of merchandise, toys, t-shirts, figurines, etc. They even sell passes to special comic book and anime conventions. Amazing store! Glad they made it through the pandemic. I was excited to check this place out because I was visiting out of state. Staff wasn't friendly and made me feel like I was in the way. I just wanted to look at comics and had a staff member aggressively shove boxes next to me. I've traveled to other states and never encountered rude staff members at a comic store. read more

Midtown Comics does have a huge selection. They run sales often so you can save quite a bit if you are buying during this time. The Midtown store is like a museum and treasure trove of everything geek from comics to statues to apparel to anime. I love spending 30 minutes of my lunch break perusing the wall and bin diving for unique books. Or I'll just check their website. My major gripe with them is their customer service. I'm not speaking for everyone in this store but a good 90% of them. The staff that linger around aren't very helpful. They either just talk amongst themselves or just don't know anything. I once asked if they had the Jim Lee XXL art book and he replied with "Who's Jim Lee?". I literally lol'd in front of him and just walked away. If you buy from Midtown, make sure you know what you want and do your research because 9/10 you will encounter an unhelpful staff member or just a kid who's working his way through college. read more

Whenever my fellow Geeks visit New York City from out of town, I always suggest a visit to Midtown Comics. After years of being a customer, I am happy to say that the store continues to do nothing but improve. Structurally it is still the same, with two floors of scifi/comics/nerd culture products from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. Need comic book supplies? They've got'em! Need action figures from a wide spectrum of entertainment franchises? This is the place! Want some statues to decorate your house? Their selection is awesome. Some of the way items are arranged have been changed over the last couple years. The first floor now features a small section near the staircase with action figures on it, generally the ones they believe will be in high demand. Under that is a section with graphic novels. Generally these are the introductory ones, the hope being that you will pick the series and become interested enough to buy more. There is also now an "impulse buy" section near check out with toys and blind bagged figures. Upstairs is still focused on collectibles, action figures and apparel. The old adult section is long gone, replaced by the apparel section. They are also stocking a wider variety of products now than ever, ranging from imported items from Bandai such as Figuarts to domestic releases like Transformers action figures. I frequently find items here ahead of their release in other stores like Target or Walmart, and to a collector that's a big deal. Their prices are very respectable. Comic shops in general tend to need to mark up their items a bit more than you'd see on Amazon or Target, but for the convenience of having the item in front of me and available before other shops? I'll gladly pay the $2-3 extra dollars. If you are into scifi/fantasy/pop culture/Anime/Geekery, you owe yourself a visit to Midown Comics! read more

They're very good when it comes to getting weeklies and pickups and general selection. However, they stock the latest and most popular books and items so if you're looking for a deep cut, and issue older than a month, or something not as popular or underground, maybe try Forbidden Planet. There's usually never a spider-man, Iron Man, or MCU popular character book stocked on these shelves. I will say, though, that they really do keep their Batman shelf stocked. Always. And they're also pretty good with omnibus too. They're in Times Square so they have to cater to the bright-eyed tourists, but they keep a nice balance between them and the enthusiasts. read more

This tops my husband's "must see" every time we make it to NYC. I'm not the comic book fan he is, but it's my favorite comic book store. We spent a decent amount of time here, and he was able to find a few items he wasn't able to find anywhere else. They do the absolute best they can with the limited amount of space, thankfully it wasn't crowded on the day we went. What made this visit for me was the employee at the check out counter. He was very friendly and asked if we found everything okay, so on a whim, I asked him where was the best place to get pizza nearby. This started a conversation about pizza including stories of the places he went in Brooklyn as a child. He ended up suggesting John's pizza, which was only few blocks north. We took him up on his advice and absolutely loved our lunch at John's. I'm so glad that I asked! read more

When I reached out to them they stated it still wasn't released and that's why it wasn't received after a year and a half of being on pre-order. Turns out that was a lie and it was available for next day delivery on Amazon. This business is deceptive and does not care about their customers. Well after I would say 10 orders now, it is still the same with this company. I wanted to see if anything would change or if they would even show any care for the customer but it is nothing new with companies like this. Every single order has come within a brown bag and wrapped around big bubble wrap tops in a brown shipper box. Every time almost the brown shipper bags are completely destroyed due to the weight of the comics shoved in each bag and the weight pops the wrap from shipping and handling now a days being so poor. Since my first order to now 10, 2 orders have come damaged where I needed to contact them about the condition and 1 time for them miss labeling the issue on the site and selling the wrong one and than shipping the wrong one and than not having the right one they said they had in the first place. I pretty much only buy from them if I have too to get a issue I can't from the other sites that I use. I have updated to a 2 star and could maybe be a 3 star. But I still feel for the money and how big this comic shop is for the east coast let alone the country they can spend a little more to do better at shipping. There online customer service is pretty bad. They will rip off and will definitely not make things right. My recommendation is make this correct and fix the website why would anyone need to call to correct and address.!!! I've lost a bunch of orders because of the website not letting me cancel or update the address. While working in the same part of Manhattan as Midtown Comics, it was so convenient to just walk upstairs to this store during a lunch break or after work. It is located in a massive upstairs space, and the number of titles is impressive. Two floors jam-packed with comic goodness in just about every form you can think of: models, statues, graphic novels, back issues, schwag, toys, t-shirts, etc, etc, etc. Seriously, it's insane the amount of stuff this one store carries. Be prepared to stop before you even walk up the stairs into this church of nerd. Batman creeps between the steps and EVERYONE needs to take a picture of him. Literally, every single person, as if the tiny stairs themselves weren't enough trouble. Once you get into the actual store it's an explosion of things and people. I walked past at least 10 different conversations about comics, movies, and TV shows. If you need a heavy dose of pop culture then just spend a few minutes here and you'll be full. I could dive into what they had on the shelves, but with the constant influx of new goods it would be a fool's errand. Do yourself the favor and see for yourself. You might happen upon your new favorite thing in the whole wide world or make friends with a fellow geek gushing over the latest story lines. read more

Ordered a bunch of comics from this place. They were supposed to be in new NM condition. Nope. The majority of them had more tics than my father's pocket watch. Customer service was abysmal. Had to pay for shipping to return comics or they offered 15% off the comics that had spine tics. This only after sending about 15 photos to them. I don't recommend ordering online from them at all. Maybe their in store service is better. These were current comics too. Nothing more than six months old. Look elsewhere. Trust me. read more

BAD CUSTOMER SEVICE: I tried to ask the post office to help. But, your customer service people would not cooperate. I asked for a tracking number multiple times and they never replied to that request. If I can still get that number I want it so I can find out why the package was returned. I also asked your service people to re-send the whole order. They would not give me an answer to that request either. Did you get the comics back at your end? I still have no answer to that question. Did you consider sending my order again since it was paid for? Again no answer. Just pat answers with no substance. Of course I was angry with everyone on your end. I should have been angry and you did not provide any of the solutions I asked for. My bet is that you never will. The proof will be when you still do not send me the tracking number for that order. And you will still ignore my very specific requests for information. It was just easier for you to give me the refund. I still want my comics that I ordered and I will never get them because all you do is make excuses. And then you blame me for your incompetence. Why don't you admit you are just lazy. Just sending out standard emails with no real information time after time is lame for any organization. If you truly had someone checking into the problem it would have been resolved other than the way it was. And much sooner. I ordered a couple hundred dollars worth of comics from them in the last few months. All of the comics were supposed to be 'Near Mint.' Looking through them last week, I discovered that some of them were ripped. When I contacted their customer service, they told me that online deliveries have a two week window to bring up issues with damaged goods and that I was out of luck. They have every right to set that time window, but to me that's both a terrible business model and terrible customer service. Most online businesses give you at least a month, if not more. Their market is to sell to collectors, they mark their goods as being in perfect shape -- kind of important to collectors! -- and when they sell damaged goods, if you didn't discover the damage in two weeks, they tell you to get lost. They could easily have remedied this, the cost for them would have been a drop in the bucket, and they would have earned me as a loyal customer. Instead, they told me they don't care about my business, so I have no intention of buying from them ever again. read more

Whenever my girlfriend and I go out of town, we always try to hit up a local comic book store and since this one was down the street from our hotel, we decided to stop by before ending the night! When you get there, keep in mind you have to go up some stairs so I'm not sure if it's the best for people with disabilities to go alone. I have arthritis in my back and it was a bit much but I pushed through because I was very excited to go see what they had to offer. I didn't see if they had an elevator or anything for people in wheel chairs or people who have a hard time going up stairs but it's a tight space so I don't think they did. When you actually get in there though, they have so much to offer! I was happy to see they sold Pokémon stuff including cards and the prices were good unlike many other places who over charge for Pokémon cards! Over all we had a lot of fun there and I ended up buying some Pokémon cards and some books! Can't wait to return in the future! read more

Good selection of comics and figures. Most of the staff is solid. Just a heads up though, some of them will gossip incessantly like schoolgirls in the locker room. Nobody wants to hear the staff whine about how awful your friend's cancer is or how you're so pissy your boss won't let you drink water instead of just, I don't know, drinking it like a normal person with basic human needs? Why shit out all your impotent rage toward everyone on the floor? It's a comic book shop, not a bloody therapy session you can't afford. Given the scene, it's not too surprising, you'd expect at least some professionalism. Thankfully the rest of the staff mostly make up for that. read more

Awesome company. I have ordered many comics online from them. The only time I ever had a damaged corner, the customer service responded in just hours and took care of it. This is one comic out of hundreds of orders so it is rare to get a damaged comic from them. I love this place. One of the best places to come and shop. Granted, it is in the middle of tourist central. But the store itself is not what I would call touristy. It is literally everything you can possibly want in a comic shop. Short of it not having any gaming space, it's not really meant for that. But they have all kinds of events and signings here. I am slowly shifting subscriptions to this location. You go upstairs and it has an insane inventory of collectibles, statues, toys, and fandom items. Even an amazing selection of Gundam models. Something that is not necessarily common in a normal comic book store. You'll also find a good healthy helping of back issues and independent comics. I come as often as I can and grab an issue here and there. I tend to be specific with my physical comics. Everything else, I tend to buy digitally. But if I am going to pick up an issue and I am nearby, I'll come here. read more
