Good thing is the doctors are very caring and kind with fantastic customer service. Pepper is great with his patients! The problem is the customer service kids ( up front) are not very nice to patients. I never made it home with new glasses and they were like to bad so sad. I called them a few times and they said that they "Looked" for my glasses but they were not there. Nothing was offered to ease my burden of the pain on never getting to use my new glasses. I've been coming to Dr Flax for years. I like him and the care he provides. However, the business side of things has gone downhill. The waiting times are unacceptable, the staff schedules an appt for 8 am but they don't actually arrive at the office until 8 am, therefore they are behind from the start of the day. Additionally, the pricing is out of control, instead of keeping contact lens "fitting" as part of the regular price of an exam, it is now an extra charge although nothing in the exam has changed, they now also charge a fee for debit/credit card payments--this is a cost of doing business and is abhorrent. So, nickel and diming patients as well as making them wait an hour for an appt--overall not a good way to run a business. read more

I am always checked in quickly, in a professional and friendly manner. I can get in to be seen for appointments with about two weeks usually for non emergency appointments. The staff has always been super patient and kind to my child. Dr Flax always answers any questions or concerns and genuinely cares about his patients. I highly recommend. read more

What is up with these huge vision offices? There is something about 1-2 optometrists and their small amount of staff. You are not just another customer to them, they usually treat you like family... or well better yet they remember who you are. In big offices like this, you get lost in the shuffle. The receptionist was too busy to be welcoming. Not her fault, she must have been overwhelmed. She slid the paper work over to me instead of handing it to me. I get called back to do the pre-exam tests. While in that rom I kept my purse near the one machine. When I was getting the photo of my eye done, in walks another patient and an employee to do his pre-exam tests. I personally did not like that. No privacy there. Picking out glasses has always been a big stressor of mine. I think it is because it is something you were all the time and they can be expensive. I did not get the warm fuzzy when it came to picking out glasses. It was so crowded and people were waiting everywhere instead of sitting down. So they were standing in front of the glasses display. I seriously red to find a better experience for in person shopping for glasses. You wonder why people go online for contacts and glasses... if I'm lacking customer service, I just resort to online. My optometrist was ok. I saw them for maybe 5 minutes. A different employee did everything else. When it came time for billing I was not feeling confident that they were knowledgeable, especially since they all seemed overwhelmed because of how many people were there. I'm looking for an optometrist office for my whole family. I am not sure this one is the best fit. read more

When I walked into the door there were 3 staff members at the front. I got in line and waited a good 10 Mins bf someone told me if I was checking in I needed to go to another line. After getting in the other line, I had to wait another 10 mins bf I was able to check in. If you want to be rushed in and rushed out like you're in a cow corral, then this is the place to go. My appointment was at 4 and it took 45 mins to get seen. Then walked out to the glasses section to pick some out. The staff didn't communicate with me to sign in. Now, almost 2 hours later I'm waiting to order a pair of glasses. The organization and communication is horrible from the time you walk in the front door. Pissy customer! read more

Dr. Flax is the absolute best! The staff that works here are very friendly and casual. I never feel like I'm working with inexperienced staff or staff that focus on upselling you on some service or product. The wait times are minimal, the location has ample parking, the waiting area is clean and quiet, and you can browse frames and glasses while you wait. The staff makes this experience the best and Dr. Flax is included. He is the most honest and caring guy ever. He's never scatterbrained or unorganized - He typically has everything prepared and is focused on you and your needs. If something is a concern for him, you take it seriously and he never tries to put you on something that you don't need or can't afford. He wants you to have the best care possible and is cognizant of your situation. He is truly a doctor that you can trust and often they can find out other issues or diagnoses that your primary care physician aren't able to detect through your eyes. They can detect diabetes and other related issues by scanning your optical nerve, blood vessels, and eye pressure. They can even share your results with your doctors to help them provide the best treatment as well. Even if you have perfect eyesight, I recommend that you see an eye doctor annually as part of a yearly checkup or diagnostic practice. There is so much more insight that they can provide that might be missed by your regular physician. Overall Norman Vision Source and Dr. Flax deserve 10 Stars! read more

First, they sold me substandard glasses that I had to take in to get fixed 3 times. The last time, they installed extra long screws that extend out of the frame. When I moved from the area, I tried to get them to send me my prescription so that I could order some contacts. Had a bad experience at this place. I saw Dr. Bellamy for a regular check up where on the softwares that they use was not working. He asks me to come in again a month later and says that I will not be charged for either the test or any deductible for the clinic visit. Guess what, they charged me the deductible for my visit. I called the clinic 5 times to get this sorted but all I always here is we will check with the doctor again, our manager says these are the notes we have and so on. I have been using Dr. Martin since 2006, after having LASIK corrective surgery! I do not trust my eyes to anyone else! He is always very friendly and has my best interest at the front of everything he does! He is very patient & kind and I am blessed to have him to look after my vision! The staff is very knowledgable & courteous! They have amazing technology with the eye mapping (which I highly suggest)! The waiting area is large, comfortable, clean & kid friendly! I visited this place because I'm concerned that I am developing a cataract in my left eye that makes it dangerous to drive, impossible to spar in boxing, gives massive ocular headaches, and effects my vision at night. I can't even watch my kids do things. I have to physically turn my head to see my driver's side mirror, which leaves me blind on the entire right side of my vehicle. I get it if you don't care for my safety, but what about those around me? Should we take care of the cataract for them? Instead of taking that seriously, the optometrist told me he's going to wait until its worse for some reason, and instead sold me glasses... there's a for-profit business model if I have seen one. I wasted the money for that visit and am no closer to driving my family around safely. He didn't even attempt to get me in touch with specialist. HE LITERALLY SAID HE'S WAITING UNTIL IT GETS WORSE. ITS BAD FOR ME! IT MAY NEVER GET WORSE FOR YOU, HOMIE! ITS ME THAT'S SUFFERING. It comes off as lazy and hawkish to be that cold. read more

This was a terrible experience. The person who checked me in to an exam room talked incessantly about her boyfriend's truck, how tall she is, and a stranger hiding outside the building. That was the best part of my experience as the optometrist never introduced himself, never examined my eyes, repeatedly licked his lips with a bright red tongue (like my children after eating red popsicles), and asked some random kid that came in the room if I had a retinal hemorrhage. I won't say more because I don't want to be more disparaging. Suffice it to say that I will not be back, and I will find another optometrist to evaluate my eyes because I in no way trust this guy. read more

I'm a dad of 6 Adopted kids and there is No flexibility in this business, They do not give documents needed for being at the facility for fittings, They claimed that the schools told them they can't, I made them aware that we don't live in Norman and we live in Moore and I kindly made them aware that Moores schools are different and they require a document of any sort as long as the kids name and date is on it just so the school knows where we have been! My overall experiences with Norman Vision Clinic, specifically involving Dr. Bellamy and "Carissa," were negative - and honestly, a frustrating waste of my time & energy. My eyes were examined by Dr. Bellamy, and his communication skills about my diagnosis & treatment options were incredibly poor & confusing. I left the appointment with 2 different prescriptions, no clear understanding of what I actually needed, and feeling utterly confused about what was going on with my eyes, despite having asked questions. I chose not to have their office fill my eyeglass prescriptions because I just wasn't impressed by my experience there. Instead, I took my prescription to Pearle Vision, where I had a positive experience. When my new eyeglasses came in, I noticed that my vision was distorted when wearing my glasses, and my depth perception was way off. I thought that maybe Pearle Vision had not filled Dr. Bellamy's prescription correctly, so I took the glasses to Pearle Vision and explained the problem. They tested the lenses and told me the lens matched Dr. Bellamy's prescription - and that my prescription was likely incorrect. (The staff at Pearle Vision were great - with excellent communication & helpfulness.) I drove to Norman Vision and explained the problem. They acted skeptical of me and as though they didn't believe the problem pertained to any mistakes on their end (a recurrent theme that continued). They tested the lens, and the lens prescription had been filled accurately by Pearle Vision. The problem was, indeed, that Dr. Bellamy had given me the wrong prescription. Their attitude suddenly changed toward me, and they finally began treating me like a person with a legitimate problem caused by them. They said that I needed to have my eyes re-examined to get an accurate prescription. I did not want Dr. Bellamy to examine me, so they scheduled an appointment with Dr. Flax. The day of the 2nd appointment, "Carissa" at Norman Vision Clinic called me. She acted skeptical of me and as though she didn't believe the problem pertained to any mistakes on their end. In fact, she suggested that there wasn't actually a problem that I needed to come in for - that we could just talk on the phone and cancel the appointment for a 2nd eye exam. She didn't seem to want to listen to what the problem was, and she kept trying to say that I was using a reading glass prescription for regular vision (I wasn't). I kept explaining that these were regular glasses - and that Pearle Vision and *Norman Vision* had already tested the lenses and had confirmed that it was a problem with the actual prescription. Carissa was insistent that I didn't know what kind of glasses I was using and was determine that I was using reading glasses, so I said, "Okay, I put the glasses on. I'm sitting in front of my computer, and when I put the glasses on, the words on the screen became blurry." She said, "Well, they're actually more for reading a paper in your hand." So, I held a paper, and said, "With the glasses on, the words get blurrier." Carissa was suddenly quiet, and said, "We have failed you." She said I did, in fact, need to come in to get my eyes re-examined. I had to take off work early for yet another eye exam. This created for a stressful day at work and led to problems at work. (The long, unnecessary call with Carissa also interrupted my work day, when I badly needed to be getting things done so I could leave early for the 2nd eye exam.) Dr. Flax examined my eyes, and it turns out that I didn't even NEED the glasses. ALL of my wasted effort, time, and money in getting those glasses picked out, prescription filled, driving back to pick up the ordered glasses, having them adjusted to fit... and then, going back to Pearle Vision to have them checked because they were not right... then back to Norman Vision to have them check the glasses.... Then taking off work and going back, again, to have my eyes re-examined... ALL that was for nothing. I didn't even NEED those glasses. I will never go back to Norman Vision Clinic. If you value your time, money, energy, and the actual *accuracy* of your eye exam, I suggest avoiding this place. read more

Receptionists, eye techs and Dr have an excellent level of care and understanding. Any questions you may have they answer them in the most respectful and clear manner! Will not be recommending Dr. Newcomber to any friends or family. After going to an annual eye check appointment I went home and my left eye was in so much pain I called back that week to see if it may be related to anything that happened during the exam. Their office told me to come back at the end of the day and she would talk to me at no charge. She looked in my eye and told me she didn't see anything wrong. This is a lower class facility. Our experience at Vision Source was lackluster. Although nice in appearance, the time spent in the waiting area was a little above normal. Once we got in for the examination, we felt rushed through like cattle. The equipment is outdated, and the staff were not the most friendly nor competent. Overall, we didn't have a horrible experience, but we definitely won't be going back. read more

Fantastic for optometrist! However, I can't stand their eye glasses shop. The optometrist are quick, kind, and understanding of your needs. Whereas, the shop always seems fed up with life. They loose frames, glass, or just your phone number regularly. For me, I take my prescription to eye mart. Still not the greatest place, but at least they deliver in a day instead of a month or more. read more
