DuPage Radon Contractors - Great Prices on Top Quality Radon Systems

    DuPage Radon Contractors

The motor in my radon fan was failing and needed replacement. It is less than 3 months outside the…read more5 year warranty. I called DuPage Radon and the very nice woman who answered the phone made it sound like they might cover it, but when she talked to her boss, he said no. Their quote to replace the unit was $400 (they were originally paid approximately $1,200 five years ago) and the soonest they could do it was New Year's Eve. I was able to find the exact same model radon fan at Home Depot for $150 and it literally took me no more than 15 minutes to remove the old unit (and I've never done this before). I'll install the new one when it arrives in the next few days. I don't know about you, but $500 an hour for labor seems excessive to me. Obviously I'm in the wrong profession. Meanwhile, I'm going to remove the DuPage Radon sticker from the cover just out of spite.

Tim the designed called me back the next day and scheduled an appointment to come and assess the housse. Our radon level had been testing between 6 and 8. Tom did a thorough assessment inside and out and created a proposal including a sketch of the installation, including the EXACT cost, which was just under $2000 - very reasonable. I was impressed that they use a large diameter downspout (matching our existing downspout color) extending to the roof line instead of PVC pipe. They also install a housing over the outside fan unit which looks great. They also seal the sump pump with a new lid and seal all the cracks around the perimiter of the basement. The technician Jorge came out two weeks later and performed the entire install. He was amazing! He explained everything, and left it all very clean. Very professional and courteous. I retested the radon level a couple of days later and it tested at .27!!!!!I HIGHLY recommend Dupage Radon Contractors. You will not be disappointed.

Update to review 11/26/24 from original 5 star review:…read more I had Trinity back out to my home on 11/26 to replace 4 outdoor wall light fixtures. On the phone, I was quoted that the work would be appx 275-300 dollars to complete. A quote was never emailed to me. On the day of the work, the lights were installed to satisfaction and I approached the technician about some quotes to troubleshoot an outdoor outlet that wasn't tripping as well as to take a look at quoting what it would cost to convert my garage from 15 to 20 AMP service. This took the technician appx. another 45 minutes to quote these issues (which he didn't have time to fix), yet when he brought in the final bill, I was charged a jaw dropping fee of $495. This is a significant departure from the $275-$300 that I was initially quoted, and does not reflect one additional hour of labor. (Even less than that, in reality- closer to 45 minutes.) The tech arrived at 12:00PM and completed all work at 2:38PM, timestamped on my Nest camera. The last 10-15 mins of the time he was at my house he was in his vehicle, presumably writing up an invoice. The bill also incurred a $45 service fee, which was never discussed with me over the phone. In addition, the fact that the technician would not have any ability or time to fix the outdoor outlet that was not grounding properly during my appointment was not discussed with me. I called Phil on the phone who was courteous, but unwilling to adjust the price. He stated that a $45 service fee was standard (and actually stated that I somehow had a 5 dollar discount on mine...) yet I am really struggling to figure out how this would have played a part in the initial quote of $275-300 for a job that was estimated to take approximately two hours of labor. He also stated that he could have charged me for additional screws and caulking supplies.... (This would have been a max of 15-20 dollars). Bottom line- I've had good experiences with Phil and Trinity in the past, and they seem to do good work. But charging me just under $500 to hang four outdoor lights and spend a bit of extra time calculating a plan/quote on how to address additional issues but not having time to address them has been extremely off putting and I can't help but feel taken. I did my best to have a courteous conversation with him over the phone, but again he was unwilling to budge. I've used Trinity in the past but I'm not sure I'll be consulting their services in the future or recommending them to coworkers unless we can address this. Original review: Extremely professional and prompt communication. Showed up on time and performed quality, clean work at a fair price. I will be using this company for all future electrical work.

He was right on time for our appointment. Josiah confirmed with me what our needs/projects were, how I wanted them prioritized, and estimated what the cost including materials and labor for each project would be (very reasonable pricing by the way!) Josiah was efficient (in and out in 1 hour...and he installed 7 new hard wired smoke alarms), neat (not even so much as a wet boot print left behind), and very polite, personable and professional. I could not be more pleased with this company. Their pricing and the level of professionalism are wonderful. I will continue to use them each and every time I need electrical services. Thank you again Josiah! Another job very well done Trinity Electrical!

Great service. Highly recommended. Took roughly 4 hours…read more Our readings ranged from 7 on the second floor to over 10 in the basement. A few days after mitigation, levels were under 0.6, even in the corner of the basement farthest from the radon system. Under 0.2 upstairs.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say that this is the best company I have ever worked with for…read moreanything, ever. We tested for radon and though the level was not above 4.0 where the EPA would highly suggest (and probably enforce if they could) that a radon mitigation system be installed, it was reaching levels of 3.5 with overall averages of 2.5-2.7 and never going below 1.7 and this during the summer where radon levels measure lower than they do in winter months. Because there is no absolute safe level of radon exposure, and because we have an in-law living space in the basement where small children also spend a lot of time (their little developing lungs are even more vulnerable to radon exposure damage), we decided to get professional advice and were leaning toward installation of a reduction system. I tried reaching a company closer to our location, left several messages because they did not answer their calls, and sent a request for help on their website and no one ever contacted me. Finally I decided to call American Radon Systems. The owner, Bill, came to my home within hours of my first call. I was so relieved. He saw the readings I was getting on my radon monitor but did not try to sell me a thing because he wanted to make sure, first, that my older monitor was actually working correctly and recommended I purchase another reliable monitor because he was not wanting us to have to handle a non-existent issue. I appreciated that. We got the new monitor which was not very expensive and tested again. It was syncing up with the other one closely enough that we still decided to go through with the install. Bill is very knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and not pushy -- just straightforward, compassionate and easy-going. We scheduled 2 weeks out and continued to monitor. At one point we wondered if we were overreacting or if we should try other less expensive fixes like improving ventilation, looking for other leaks for radon entry, etc. because I misunderstood what he told me in our initial consultation and thought the procedure would be more invasive than it was, requiring cutting through remodeled spaces, etc., and contacted Bill on the very day the system was to be installed to communicate our reservations. He was so professional! He handled all of my concerns. They came to our home and were so courteous about taking care not to disrupt or dirty our space. They covered the floors, vacuumed all messes made, never left one speck of dirt or any garbage. Jose, the installation tech, was excellent, knowledgeable, diligent, efficient, and practically walked on cat's feet. We were afraid that the install on the outside of the house would be unsightly -- not at all. It blends right in. Anyway...I know this is long but I feel the entire process is important, and not just the final result. The final result: The radon system is basically silent and attractive. Our average radon levels are now measuring 0.8 and as I write this, the level is 0.6. The outside average is 0.4 so we're thrilled! Thank you, Bill and team. You're the best!

The positives I will say is that Russ was very responsive from the moment we inquired about him and set things up and communicating with him. He'll even show up on time unlike most people nowadays. Russ did his job fine but me and my wife on site felt like he was not checking out other things that we noticed that were worth noting, picturing or documented so I could have a way to possibly get the owner to fix it before I purchase. All in all, Russ is friendly , his prices are fair and you'll learn a great thing or two from him personally which are great but just be vigilant to find and point out your issues and ask questions to make sure it can be documented.

They missed 2 active infestations, Mud daubers (wasps) in the side attic. Carpenter ants in the basement. Both which we found about a month after we moved in, on our own. The exterminator said that had the inspector looked, there was no way to miss that they had been active for quite a while. I could maybe let the wasps slide, you would have to pay attention to general details to find it. The carpenter ants we found after cleaning. Had they looked at the joists in the basement they would never have missed the 2 spots. He also missed the flashing around the exhaust for the heat and fireplace while on the roof, had to have that repaired the 1st year we were in the house. Then there was the wood above the entrance that had it's own damage from the carpenter ants that needed to fully be replaced. He will point out some minor things, outlets in the bathroom, missing window cranks/ broken gear in window. Gutters needing more hangers... To top it off his assistant (wife) tried to turn us into collections for non payment, when I called and paid the day after the inspection. We emailed them the credit card receipt, and was I was right. That that kind of mistake doesn't often happen, and they would update their records. He couldn't even own that one and say they were sorry. I'm sure they would have excuses for everything they miss, and blame the homeowner or God. I highly recommend finding someone else or brush up on YouTube, you can only have better results. The one star is warranted, this has to do with your home. Good luck, and congratulations on your upcoming purchase.
