Decided to grab some breakfast from here before my flight. I ordered at the takeout area. The wait wasn't long and the good was fresh. Pretty decent for airport food.

Service was fast. Hush puppies dry, pulled pork okay once you put the hot sauce and the Cole slaw was missing the flavor. Okay for a quick drink but not food. Beer pub ambiance.

Checking in again. 4 on the airport restaurant scale. Go to place at CLT. Got a Cobb with Brisket. Broskett was good on the airport scale. Good beer from OMB.

Service was good. Drink orders taken right away. Food came out quick for a busy time. Typical bar scenery with stuff on the walls and plenty of tasks. We sat at a table but there were bar seats. We had over 2 hour layover and that was plenty of time to enjoy a meal.

I actually had Midwood twice while visiting Charlotte. Once delivered via Uber eats which limited the experience, and the next day in the airport for breakfast. The team that was working had braved winter storm Gianna to get to work and serve up deliciousness. The burnt ends /brisket and grits was a savory breakfast dream come true! The grits were piping hot and the burnt ends were smoky, seasoned, and sauced to perfection. While I won't wish to be snowed in and grounded in an airport again, this is definitely the best thing I could've ever eaten before facing that type of day! The vibe is a perfect mix of airport and a classic barbecue spot. Clean and spacious, even when it's full of hungry passengers. I believe this is a North Carolina staple and I can see why, everything was delicious on delivery as well.

We really enjoyed our experience. It's a nice sit down restaurant at the airport. They have booths, hightop and regular tables, and bar seating. The waitstaff were friendly and the food was good. I had the smoked turkey. It tasted fine but didn't wow me. The rely heavily on you using their BBQ sauce. It's good sauce but I would like the food to stand on its own a little better. Surprisingly, the hush puppies were pretty good. My wife had the Carolina Pork and the flavor was very good. I would recommend this dish.

The Mac and cheese on the menu versus what I was served! At least they gave me another side when I asked, but this was deceptive fr

The service was good but the food was bad. The brisket was shoe leather and tasted old.

Had the burnt ends they were good. A little dry but that can happen with burnt ends. Grilled corn was awesome. Pickled pickles were great! Service was quick and took care of us. Great personality. Seated quick. Decor was okay. Overall enjoyed the meal. Now go give it a try.

My boss and I stopped in because of the wonderful smell of BBQ emanating from the restaurant as we headed to our Gate. We were seated quickly near the entrance and were told that we didn't need to scan the QR code for the menu to order as they had servers running around. The place was pretty packed with people at the bar and people in the booths and the tables. They had TVs on in there, all on the same NBA game. We looked over the menu and while I was hungry, I didn't want to eat something heavy I definitely wanted to get some meat from them. I got The Roadhouse burger (chuck & brisket burger patty w/ketchup, mustard, pickles, American cheese, lettuce and tomato on a buttery bun) with sweet potato fries. He got the 1930 Cheesesteak (Thinly sliced smoked brisket w/Boar's Head White American cheese, mayo and caramelized onions on a traditional hoagie roll) with a side salad. We didn't have to wait long for our order to arrive and we dug in. My burger was pretty dang good! The patty was very juicy. You'd think that the burger was kinda small but for we it was the perfect portion. I ate that and about half of the fries and I was done. My boss ate all of his sandwich and the salad. He was thoroughly impressed with the portion and taste of his plate. Very happy we came and now I know that Midwood is a good place to stop in.

Do not go into this airport restaurant/bar. What a rip off. It should be illegal what they do. We ordered a Bloody Mary. We were given a menu, but the menu had no prices so we scanned the QR code on the bar top to get price. $16.99. A lot for a BM but typical for airport bar. We got the bill and were charged $23.99 each. I said to bartender, the QR code says $16.99. He said, ya those aren't accurate that's why I gave you a menu. I said menu has no prices. He said you should have asked me. I said how would I have known the QR code is not accurate? He said yea they should remove those. Seriously, a reputable company would not do this. Lots of places to have drinks/ food in CLT airport... try any of them but this one.

Had a layover flight in Charlotte. I was honestly kind of excited, because half the reason why I travel is for the food, and I haven't been to the Carolina in a few years. Without looking too much into the food at the airport, I was either hoping for a Bojangles or bbq food. Luckily this airport had both! My wife ended up getting Bojangles and my son and I both came here to Midwood. Coming from Texas, we had plenty of beef brisket, and when in Rome, we decided to both get their Pulled Pork Sandwich. The sandwich came with fries and was surprisingly really good. It was very filling and the pulled pork wasn't bad at all. Wasn't at smoky as I would have liked but overall not bad for "airport" food. This place will definitely be a must if I find myself in this airport again.

Pork is too salty. Beans are way too sweet. Burnt ends are disappointing. This was a dud.

After striking out at two other BBQ spots on a Saturday night, I landed at Mac's Speed Shop around…read more8:30 p.m. and ended up having a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Mac's sits in the heart of South End and shares the neighborhood with several busy bars and nightlife spots. Parking can be a bit of an adventure, but they do have dedicated lots nearby. Once you're there, the setup is great: a large dining room, plenty of picnic-table patio seating, and my favorite option--a seat at the outdoor bar where the inside bar opens through a service window to the patio. The bartender, Alyssa, was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient while I stared at the giant menu trying to figure out what I wanted. When I asked for recommendations, she immediately suggested the burnt ends, BBQ baked beans, and Mexican street corn. Excellent call. The blackberry seasonal hard cider she recommended was delicious and paired beautifully with the meal. My only surprise was the price. At nearly $9, it was more than I expected for a cider, and I wish I had asked beforehand. The burnt ends arrived with bright pickled red onions that added the perfect acidic balance. The flavor was excellent--smoky, rich, and satisfying. That said, they leaned heavily toward the fatty side. The deeper I got into the serving, the more rendered fat I encountered compared to meat. Delicious? Yes. Light? Absolutely not. The BBQ baked beans were exactly what you want from a barbecue joint. The Mexican street corn was a standout and a refreshing contrast to all the richness. My only critique was that the burnt ends weren't served quite as hot as I would have liked, and by the end of the meal, the richness became overwhelming. That's probably more on me for ordering burnt ends at 9 p.m. than on Mac's. The final bill came to about $37 before tip, which felt a little steep for a solo barbecue dinner and cider. Looking back, I'd probably visit during lunch. Their weekday lunch specials around $10 look like one of the best values in South End. Would I come back? Absolutely. The service was warm, the recommendations were spot on, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the food delivered exactly what a barbecue craving calls for. Next time, I'll arrive earlier, bring a bigger appetite, and maybe save the burnt ends for lunchtime. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. If you're exploring South End and craving barbecue, Mac's Speed Shop is worth a stop.

The pot liquor on the collard greens is done right but they don't cook them down long enough, FOR ME, or offer a mix (e.g. add some turnip and/or mustard greens in there). The other meats are just okay but service+ brisket and packaging that helps make this long, out of the way trip worth it because I made it back to University area and everything remained hot. I made a reservation on OpenTable, arrived on time, and was seated immediately. The restaurant looks like a typical rustic BBQ focused family restaurant. I ordered the Carolina Pork with collard greens. My thoughts: - Carolina Pork was good. A small size was more than enough for me. Vinegar sauce really came through, almost a little too much. - Hush puppies were good. The only item that wasn't acidic, so it helped balance my meal. - Collard greens were also good. - Pickles were ok. By itself they were fine, but combined with the pork in vinegar sauce, it was too much acid for me overall. Service was pleasant and attentive. No issues. Overall, I was happy with my meal. It was generally good food and service. I'd just be more careful with picking my side so the entire dish was more balanced.
