In Charlotte riding around, the city was looking for a quick bite and looked at my list of places to try, and Cuzzo's was in close proximity, so I chose to go there. When I walked inside, it was a lot bigger than the pictures I've seen lead on. There were plenty of seats and a huge bar there as well! Always a pleasant surprise when you can get some drank while you wait for your meal, in my humble opinion, lol.  The decor was cool, and the way it was set up looked like it could get really busy some days, I was there on a Sunday evening, and the weather was not good, so it was light. The restaurant wasn't empty, there was a steady flow of people but it definitely was not busy.  I had plenty of time to look at the menu, which was very simple, nothing too crazy, the cashier took my order, and my food came out at a decent time. Now for the food.......DELICIOUS. I think this was my favorite meal since I have been here in Charlotte, I had the Cuzzo's combo meal, which came with wings, lobster mac and cheese, collard greens, and a lemonade. One word.....flavor! Everything was really good, and I'll be honest I am not hard to please, and I was definitely hungry when I had it, but that does not take away from anything here.  The lobster mac was divine. This place blew me away! I went right around the time they opened. I had no expectations, but man they blew me away. Incredibly friendly service. I got their lobster mac & cheese with shrimp. The shrimp were fried to perfection and so tender. The mac & cheese had tons of lobster in it and wasn't too cheesy. With their expansion to the University area, Cuzzo's, a New Orleans-inspired cuisine, teases your taste buds like a proper bowl of shrimp and grits on Fat Tuesday. For my weekday visit, I ordered the Fish and 1/2 Lobster mac-n-cheese platter for lunch. While not exactly a bargain at $13 (plus about a 15-minute wait for it to be prepared) it was, nevertheless, worth it. Really, worth it. The fish is lightly breaded, and with a nice array of spices, allows the flounder to shine without piling on the heat. I like that. The lobster mac-n-cheese is flavorful and creamy, with the pasta cooked a perfect el dente. Although one can never have enough lobster, it was plentiful and tasty, too. So tasty, in fact, that on my next visit I will pre-order a vat of it and make it a Spa Day. Just heat it up and I'll jump in. Yeah, that good. Mmmm. Cuzzo's has other things I'm interested in, too. Wings, chicken, shrimp and grits, and more lobster mac-n-cheese, please. Others have noted they are working out the kinks of a new location. I was so glad that this place came to university because it saved us the 25 minute drive to the other location! It is much bigger, has a bar area, and a lot of tables compared to the other one. The staff was really friendly and many servers checked up on us while we waited. The only issue I had was that the food took 30+ minutes to come out, and at the other location they are pretty fast. Everything here tastes amazing, great portions, and you really can't go wrong with anything you order. Also, you can't come to Cuzzo's and not get the lobster mac. It's definitely the most known and best thing on the menu. Make sure to get that as a side with whatever you get! read more

I went to the Cuzzo's Cuisine in the premium outlets on my lunch break around 1:30ish. I approached the counter, ready to order, and had to wait until the employees finished a personal conversation before finally being greeted. Once greeted the employee looked at me as if I inconvenienced them. Experiences similar to this today always have me discouraged from trying African American-owned businesses due to the sometimes lack of professionalism. Overall the food was delicious. read more

Grand opening today! Welcome to the east side, Cuzzo's! I got the chance to visit today for their grand opening for their new location in the university area. Upon entering, I was greeted by the hostesses and asked if I was doing dine in or take out. After telling them I was doing take out, I went to the register. I ordered the fish and grits with a side of lobster mac (there's no way I'm coming to any location of cuzzo's and not order the lobster mac). I was told that my wait would be about 25 minutes. Well the 25 turned into 45. I didn't mind waiting because there is more often than not a bit of a wait time at their other location, as well. The fish was crispy and juicy, the grits were flavorful, and the lobster mac was terrific as usual. I had no doubt that things would turn out excellent. But FYI: as this is a new location, there may be a few kinks that may need to be worked out. Give them some time to get in the groove. Also have PATIENCE. If you want a quick meal, go to a fast food restaurant. You will have to wait but it'll be worth it. If not, let them know and they'll make it right for you. Enjoy! read more

Did a to go order of the veggie plate for $10.25, which consisted of beans and rice, zucchini and squash, also ordered the Fish only side (flounder) for 7$ which consisted of one piece of fish. The fish was seasoned well, just on the dry side. Love the taste of the tartar sauce. Veggie Plate was bland in my opinion. The beans were moist, which was awesome. I went twice within 4 days. The first time, which was my first time going, ordered the chicken wings and fries, pretty basic, but because it was new to me, I get something I know that I like. So, my PIC (partner in crime) and I thought the food was good, but what would make us come back...my mom. We had lunch on Saturday and I had the lobster mac and cheese. That is what would bring me back. It is very good with nice chunks of lobster. I had flounder and shrimp with it and they were good as well. Well not what I expected. My family and I waited 1 hr for 3 waffles and 12 wings and a side order of fries.. Other customers came in after us sat down and got their orders before us. I wanted to leave but we continue on got the food ate, tip our waiter and left. The low country cornbread waffle was good but the wings was loaded with salt.. I only ate 2. I was extremely disappointed. I walked in and almost slipped bc the floor was soooo slippery. When we got seated I asked for a booth and the manager told us no bc it had to be 4 or more people but then we noticed it was plenty of people 2 to a booth. Questioned going because the rating was kind of low, but I'm SO glad I went ahead. Food was great. The lobster mac and cheese was very good and had a surprising amount of lobster. My boyfriend and I got the chicken tenders with jerk and BBQ sauce. They were so good we forgot to take a picture before we ate. Our server was very friendly and tons of fun. Just visited the new University location and was so ready for that lobster mac-n-cheese but unfortunately, after sitting and waiting for over an hour, no lobster mac-n-cheese. The service was by far the worst I've experienced in quite a while. 30mins in we had to get our servers attention to get refills. 45min in the server seems surprised we didn't have our food and she didn't offer an I'm sorry. An hour in, the server comes out and states she was waiting for our food to be played and it would be about 3 mins. 10 mins later the table behind us who came in after us receives their food but we're still waiting. A few minutes later, another table received their food but we're still waiting. In the process I did ask to speak with a manager. Someone, who didn't introduce herself, came and asked if we'd asked to see a manager but no assistance was offered. At this point, we were done and stated we were leaving. And they let us leave without inquiring why we were leaving and no offer of any kind to retain our business. This is sad because the food truck and the original location is good. We went tonight got there wasn't busy at all around 8:00 it took over 15 minutes to get service and about 40 minutes before we got our drinks service was absolutely terrible never got our refills finally just told them to cancel the second round after watching them sit at the bar getting warm the food was cold and honestly every table around ours felt the same way it's one thing to get bad service but the food be worth it. I have never been treated more like a burden in my life. The staff was extremely rude and disrespectful not only to customers but to each other as well, you could tell that everyone in there had an attitude. It is service like this that gives black owned businesses a bad look. With it being a grand opening I anticipated there being a wait on the food, but for the people in the front and even the kitchen to act the way they did towards customers and each other was just wrong, had I not paid for my food and waited for over 30mins I would have walked out. Even management walked around and it was obvious that she was frustrated she even stated that she had an attitude to her employees in front of paying customers.
