You change the filter once a year and my husband did it and it wasn't bad. When we got it the guy who installed it was good. He gave all the info to my husband and did it pretty quick. We were initially going to get like a reverse osmosis water filter and alkaline from puragain water but it was 3x the price. This is basic but it does the job and our water tastes great.
