I needed my 68-year-old cast iron waste pipes repaired after a leak between the house and street began seeping into the crawlspace. This 56-foot cast iron sewer line runs through my raised foundation, under the driveway, through a retaining wall, and beneath the front yard to the city main line. It turns out there are two options: Trench and replace the entire run or install an epoxy liner. I wanted to avoid trenching my driveway and yard and the high labor cost of a 56-foot trench. Modern Pipe Solutions offered significant experience with the Nu Flow Cured in Place Pipe Epoxy liner (CIPP), competitive pricing, and an amazing 20-year material and labor warranty. Once under contract, everyone at Modern Pipe Solutions performed extremely well. Dalia kept me updated, Grayson ensured the team had what they needed, and the cleanout and CIPP liner installations stayed on schedule. I was very impressed by the skill level of the technicians. Each of them was courteous, on-time and good communicators. After completion, Dalia provided me the warranty and a video of the installed liner. I wish there were more stars I could use to rate MPS, because 5 is not enough! I was impressed when shopping around for someone to rehab a 5' section of our sewer lateral. Even though I didn't select MPS initially, I really appreciated their professionalism and interest in my job. John (the PM) was very helpful and patient with me while he looked at my job and provided me with an education too! I chose another Plumbing company that declined the job because of the difficulty. My job was not a big job or a typical job. It required saw cutting a concrete driveway in a neighbor's driveway. I went back to MPS and John was gracious to come onsite and look at my job. We bought our house in the late 1980's. The plumbing overflowed during Thanksgiving dinner of our first year. We had to have the sewer cleaned out every eleven months because of roots in the old clay pipes. I had a company suggest lining 45 feet for $20,000. After quite a bit of research, and after speaking with the owner, Jeremy, I hired Modern Pipe Solutions to re-line an area of our septic line which was under our expensive stamped concrete pool deck. This area had root incursion which had previously backed up our septic line. I was looking for a permanent way to keep the roots from growing back without having to tear up our stamped concrete pool deck! Based on the results, we decided to line the main line (3") plus two branch lines (2"). I contracted Modern Pipe Solutions to reline my Clairemont home main sewer line in early November. Working with Jeremy was fantastic. He explained the whole process in detail and answered every question in prompt fashion. The MPS price was very competitive. Matt and Tom, the installation team, were very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. You want to get a quote to reline your cast iron sewer if your home is built around 1960 or older. Nearly half the homes in my neighborhood have experienced sewer line failure as evidenced by all of the "dug up" front yards! Jeremy and his crew at Modern Pipe Solutions did a wonderful job lining a section of our sewer main that had a break and an Pipe connection offset about about 40-50' away from our house. We had a stoppage Thanksgiving weekend which we had cleared, and the cause of the back-up turned out to be the usual suspect, root invasion. The company that cleared the roots and stoppage did a great job, but they wanted 4-5x the price to line the pipe than Modern Pipe. Jeremy's team identified the exact spots that had to be lined, which was about a 20' section between the clean-out and the city main, and they lined it all in one day for a very fair and reasonable price. Jeremy is very good at communicating about the process, and calling to arrange the appointment or rescheduling, which we did once due to the January rains. The crew arrived on-time, were dressed in uniforms and acted respectfully and professionally. They had a problem with one of their machines, but had a spare on their truck so they didn't lose much time because they were well-prepared. We were having plumbing problems in our 1960's home and determined it was roots in our sewer line. Others I spoke with wanted clean and epoxy the pipe. One company said they would have to tear up all the travertine in a bathroom. Jeremy was up front and provide pricing per foot on both the 4 inch and 2 inch sewer lines. We weren't going to do the 2 inch, but once his crew looked at it we knew both lines needed to cleaned and lined. The Nu Flow liner is amazing in that once the pipe is ready to be line it takes about 5 hours to cure and the line is ready to use for cold water and hot water the next day. Comes with a 10 year warranty. Nacho was the lead person on the job and was excellent in explaining what is going on and what would be next in the process. We didn't have any surprises other that not knowing what how bad our pipes were and we are sure glad they could get lined. Modern worked in a couple areas that there was talk of having to open up a wall, but they were able to do it on an outside wall in one space and go through the vent pipe in another area. There were some changes in scope as you don't know what's in the ground until the lines are cleared. Many Thanks to the guys at Modern Pipe Solutions for doing a great job and keeping it clean during and after they left each night.
