we went to Miguel's today, it was cinco de Mayo We were there at 4 o'clock in the afternoon so the restaurant was not busy at that time. I ordered the Cadillac margarita and it was in a plastic glass which salt does not stick to. Salsa was in a Styrofoam cup. It seems like for the convenience of the staff so not to have dishes to wash they short change the customers. The food was just OK nothing outstanding. We had a very nice waitress and the service was good. I probably won't go back as I've had much better Mexican food elsewhere read more

Awesome food! Fajitas, taco Mexicana, and taquoitos (sp) were fantastic and perfect portions. Along with amazing food the customer service is top notch! I ordered through DoorDash and when delivered my tacos were missing, called the driver to see if maybe he forgot a bag in his car but he was told I only had one bag when he picked up my order. Called the restaurant and they were very understanding and helpful, I had to reorder the tacos through DoorDash, and the very nice lady I spoke with from Miguel's threw in some chips and dip with my tacos at no charge. It's the little things that really make a place stand out and I will definitely be ordering g from here whenever I get the craving for Mexican food from now on! First time back to this location in a long time. We were very happy that we tried it again. We were promptly sat and or drink orders were taken. Corona Light is on the draft list but they do not have it, server stated they have never had it on draft and he wasn't sure why it was on the menu since they just received new menus. They had plenty of other beers to chose from. Chips and salsa were great and they were not stingy with them either. Food came out very stove hot, not microwave hot. It was all very good as well. A friend in our party ordered Enchiladas with Mole Sauce, which, unbeknownst to him and everyone at our table had peanut butter in the sauce ingredients. Having a peanut allergy, He immediately started an allergic reaction at the table and luckily had an Epipen in the car. He asked the server what the ingredients were and it was confirmed it contained peanuts which he is highly allergic. The server was apologetic and caring. The manager then came over and was actually dismissive, then insulting as it was 'not her problem'. I was appalled. No mention of peanut content was listed on the menu - as I've often see elsewhere. HH is from 3-6pm, Monday-Friday. We ordered table side guacamole, $12 seems a bit steep. They don't do the table side due to covid. Their pre-made guacamole is $10. It better be good for that high cost. Salsa is free and with the meal. Our waiter was nice enough. He didn't set the prices here. They charge $2.25 for club soda. Ordered 3 $2 Mexican tacos and 3 chicken mole enchiladas with the machaca de pollo ($14) with only beans as a side. The corn chips are okay, not warm and not as fresh as I would have hoped for. Their pre-made guacamole is okay, not so special and not a lot of flavor to it either. More lemon, maybe some cumin and garlic and hint of jalapeño would help it some. Their hot salsa is at least decent, smokey flavored and has good kick to it. The HH grilled chicken tacos were so-so. The meat was dry. The chicken enchiladas mole were blah, tasteless and boring on their own, but were so much better topped with the hot salsa. Total was $34.19. But check-in gets you a free app for now. read more

Be careful when ordering online!!!! When you search and think your bringing up Miguel's in Rochester, it brings up their MAIN site, which includes both Shelby and Rochester. The fonts are the same and on the website for both locations and they're set up in line on the page, so you don't see both location options side by side. We've had other friends order from there and have had the same issue. I wish they'd fix this!! read more

Tried Miguel's a second time because I was craving Mexican and to my dismay I had a similar experience to my first review. Came earlier - around 430p and we were told that table side salsa does not begin until 5p so we were given their big batch salsa and I am not a fan. The black/dark salsa does not taste like much of anything. We had the same waitress as before and their service as much of the same. Slow service even though the restaurant was not full and attentiveness is just not there. I say slow service because the wait time for your food was about 30 minutes - people who sat down after us were getting their food and this happened last time. All we order is rice/beans/tacos - Grand Azteca will bring your food out within minutes. I also requested that we get the table side salsa once the clock hit 5p. Our waitress thought I wanted tableside guacamole and my husband quickly pointed this out as I was not going to pay $10 for guac right before our meal was coming out. We finally got the table side and it was good and there are options of mild, medium, and hot - the medium is not really that hot and I am curious as to what their hot salsa option entails. Our food was good - my husband likes that Miguel's has chorizo and carne asada. They have two different taco options - one American and one Mexican. American is a flour tortilla while the Mexican is corn tortilla with cilantro and onions. The American flour tortilla comes puffy rather than a flat tortilla like you get a Taco Bell. Overall, I continue to say Miguel's is average with regards to food and subpar to service. I really do not believe we will ever go to this location again and will just take a drive further from our home to get our Mexican fix. read more

Stopped in at Miguel's for a date night. They seemed to be short staffed. It took quite a while for our order to be taken and then to get our appetizers. Our guac was sent to the wrong table--no big deal. The thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way was that they took the guac back from the table they accidentally gave it to, told them that they wouldn't be charged for it but they couldn't keep it, and then when the table asked for an order of it, they brought back the same one. Not great business practice in my opinion. If you accidentally give food to someone and are going to throw it away anyways, just let them have it. As for our meals, they were edible. Nothing that I would write home about. The only thing I'd go back for is the guac or queso. Also, watch out for the suggested tip on the bottom of your bill. They are actually cutting the waitstaff short by 1-2%. read more

This place is hard to spot from the road, because there is no marquis. It's next to a Tim Hortons and across the street from a Buick car dealership. Also, it's in the South Hill Plaza. I'm letting you know this because you must come here. The food is great. The servers are great. The atmosphere is great. Overall: Great. The guacamole comes in a mortar that I presume they make individually. If you pay two bucks extra ($9.95), they will make it tableside (sound familiar, DC friends?). I had the fish tacos (naturally); one fried, and one grilled. Go for the grilled, it is more flavorful. I really enjoyed them, but they are messy to eat because they are overfilled. That's a good thing, right? Tastes even better with a dash of guacamole on top! Mom had the chicken quesadilla as recommended by my sister in-law. It was also overfilled with plenty of shredded chicken. It came with a side of sour cream and guac. We ended up taking most of our starter guac home. The server even brought us a container to take the free salsa home in. Our meals were $9.95 each. I am so glad to know there is a great Mexican restaurant withe great food and great service in town. After indulging in a slightly sinful chips & salsa eating session, you can choose your meal from the menu, which is not too extensive and not too small. The options include your standard burritos, enchiladas, etc. But Miguel's also boasts great authenticities such as tacos mexicanos, pescados or the ever American favorite - weekly happy hour! The uniqueness of Miguel's is the salsa has a smokey flavor, they use a lot of cilantro (so you KNOW they are spectacular). Every time I give Miguel's another chance I'm always left disappointed. It's a normal Friday with a full staff and the dining process is too long and not very enjoyable. Why do you ask??? Because the wait staff can't remember to bring salsa from the kitchen. We found we had to eat our meals without a refreshments since we couldn't get refills on our water and the kitchen staff couldn't make our meal properly. What did we order? 1 chicken and cheese burrito. That's it. Simple stuff. It's the type of order Taco Bell excels at, but not Miguel's! The burrito was covered in melted cheese as we ordered, but inside only resided bone-dry chicken. They forgot to add the cheese as we ordered. In summary, we ate at a Mexican restaurant with very little salsa, a failure of a chicken and cheese burrito, while choking down our food since no one knew how to refill our glass.
