I suppose this is the rare instance where I'm glad I did not read the reviews before I ate here. We've been to the original in Detroit many times, but had not yet tried this place. Tonight was the right time to change that. They make very good use of the small footprint this place has. There is ample seating, if I counted right there's something like 12 tables and five or six high top options. Their primary business is carry out of course, but we found it nice to relax at a table and enjoy the ambience a little. Neither of us had a drink but we made a note of the full bar including a variety of margaritas. I'm sure they are well prepared. The somewhat limited menu is actually kind of a good thing. It means that most of their items can be brought out quickly. My wife and I both had tacos. She went with steak, and I went with pastor. Both were perfect and very well prepared. I was especially pleased at how favorable mine were with nice fresh onion and cilantro. The refried beans were also terrific, not too chalky or cakey but not too greasy either. I didn't care for my rice, but my wife enjoyed it. We also each had a flan for dessert. It was presented in a plastic container, but again this place is intended primarily for carryout. The flan was delicious and tasted freshly made. The staff were all in their young 20s but were all very friendly and accommodating. I'm looking forward to coming back here soon. read more

We ordered a carryout for dinner tonight, getting a small botana, an order of al pastor tacos, and the MI Pueblo Dinner with Suadero and Pastor. Sadly, the botana had huge pieces of onion uncut making it very difficult to enjoy. I had to cut the onions myself to be able to eat them. The Al Pastor tacos were decent. This is the third time we've ordered from MI Pueblo and their quality and service just gets better. We ordered two carryout dinners: a cheese-only quesadilla and a cheese and beefsteak quesadilla ala carte with no sides or drinks. I ordered through the website and got a confirming email, immediately followed by a "order up" email so I drove down and picked it up. 10 minutes later and I'm home and unpacking dinner...and they were So Good! Usually good and fast service but kinda rubbed me the wrong way that they are "so busy" but a group of 4 that came in about 10-15 after me got their food after about 10 while I waited 40 minutes for 1 order of tacos and no compensation for the wait!! I just got home from carry out and tried to eat the chorizo enchilada and I couldn't get through it. It went into the trash because the meat was much darker than normal and tasted burnt, it was awful- I couldn't get it down- the seasonings also tasted different, maybe because it was burnt- for instance I only felt heat but not flavor if that makes sense. The chicken is also dry and more like a chicken breast cubed- does not seem very authentic. The beans are the best ever. I am disappointed, the last few times we have been here the food has been pretty gross. The ground beef has zero flavor- also ended up in the trash. I am bummed because we love authentic Mexican and live very close but I think we will be taking a long break from coming here. Last phone order is at 7:30pm. Open until 8pm. The phone number on here is wrong. It's (586)-329-4758. This place royally extorts you to no end here. We ordered a tub of hot salsa, a guacamole, 5 chicken tacos on corn, chicken quesadilla, chicken enchilada in red sauce, 2 mandarin Jarritos and a bag of corn chips. Yes. We had to buy a bag of chips, as no chips come with the guacamole or salsa at all here. What a Rip-off. They have no chicken tinga, that's the only protein I have ever liked at Mi Pueblo. So beyond disappointing. Service is tepid at best. Not warm or friendly or special. The corn chips are nice and cold, but at least not greasy. Definitely not fresh at all. The chicken tacos were bland and boring, as expected. The chicken enchilada wasn't too bad. The chicken quesadilla was so boring and not special at all. The service was so wonderful! I'm so glad that I got to came here! The building is very small but beautiful. It's also an express place and a sit down. The spice level is so freaking good! The chicken quesadilla with beans and rice. It also comes with sour cream, guacamole,tomato's. I would say the rice was so so so so freaking filling and delicious! I used to frequent this place a lot because one could get a meal for pretty cheap. Went there a couple of days ago and all hell broke loose. I get there, place my order and pay. 20 minutes go by and the people who came in after me and paid after me got their food first. Then even more people came in and got their food way before my friend and I. A solid 40 minutes go by and we still had no sight of our food. The waitress or whatever was offering a free piece of cake or a free horchata for the wait to the other guests. However, never offered that to me or my friend for waiting over 40 minutes for some basic tacos. Drove by and saw parking lot wasn't full like most nights. So took a chance we could sit inside and eat. I was very impressed with tacos I had 1 chicken with cilantro and onion, 1 beef with cilantro and onion and 1 Al Pastor with cilantro and onion. Meat was steaming hot the onions nicely chopped and the cilantro was very fresh. The chip and salsa was good, chips weren't greasy and the salsa mild. I had the Jamaican flower juice that was very refreshing. The dining area is small 4 high tops for 2 and 4 tables for 4. The service was good. This is a cute little place, a stand-alone on Groesbeck. You order at the counter and then they call you to get it when it's ready. We stopped here on a cold night, and it warmed us up. My burrito was pretty good, although the amount of meat was a little light compared to the other fillings. Ask for some of the other salsas if you like hotter stuff, they'll give you a small container. One of them was really good (habanero?), another wasn't my favorite and was kind of bitter. We came here for the first time tonight and I'm glad we did. The food was great! Its set up like a Panera, I guess is the best way to explain. You order at the front register and wait. They were busy tonight, so there were no tables Available. (The place is not that big) Being we live 3 minutes away, we got our food to go. I got the breaded chicken meal. With flour tortillas & all the fixings. (Sorry forgot the name of it) Hubbs got the 3 taco express meal. Growing up in Arizona with all the local Mexican restaurants down there, he hasn't found a place up here to compare that food. But he said this place was really close and he loved it. We adore Mexican food and were very excited to swoop into Mi Pueblo Express when this place was finally able to open. After several takeouts: The food is pretty good, though they don't do chiles rellenos, my favorite. It is often difficult to impossible to get through on the phone. The nickeling and diming. My God. We get that restaurant prices needed to go up during and after the pandemic, but DANG. Ordered a large guac...was shocked to open a chipless bag. They charge for chips, even with an $8 order of guac, even with several $15 entrees. They also charge for salsa. Seriously-you have to order both separately, to the tune of $6. When you order online, which is usually a must due to the non-answering of phones, the prices are misleading. Your meal will be listed for one price, but many ingredients which are basic at most places are upcharged add-ons here, and it's RIDICULOUS. Cheese? Onions? SAUCE in some cases? Gotta pay more! Any choice of meat costs more! Their shrimp quesadillas are tasty, but it's $8.70 extra to add a few shrimp to the lower half of three smallish ones. The top halves of the quesadillas are flat together, fillingless. Fish is a $7.20 add-on. Beans are the same upcharge as any basic meat at $4.20 extra. How? Why? Next they're gonna charge for parking. And bags. And the staples they use to attach your receipt to the bags. Oops-they forgot to charge for the receipt paper! What about the ink? And wait-customers breathe perfectly good air while waiting for their food! We're gonna go elsewhere for awhile. read more

It was ok. The menu is VERY limited. I guess it's not what I expected after all the hype. It is definitely an "Express" meaning take-out. There are only a few tables and people tripping over each other. The chips and salsa were kind of disappointing. Bland, no salt. The salsa was watery.
