I've had this place bookmarked forever, but was to busy to ever have a chance to come check this place out. It's not that far from where I work, so I finally stopped in to check it out. Walking in, the place is small, but very colorfully decorated. Mexican music was playing and there were a few tables to sit at. I talked to a nice man who showed me the lunch orders, and I went with the two beef tacos, rice and refried beans. I was hungry, but not dinner plate hungry. When I got home to eat, the food was good! I wasn't a huge fan of their soft taco shells, but they were good none the less. Refried beans were a bit runny, but tasty, and the rice was good as well. My bill was about $7 and change, and worth a nice quick stop if needed. I'm glad I checked this place out. Not the biggest but delicious none the less. Prices are fair, but seating here is extremely limited. Thank you La Botana, you were fabulous!

Started with the asada fries with shredded chicken, medium sized guacamole, chips and salsa comes with our meal. 3 grilled chicken tacos on soft corn, 1 red shredded chicken tostada, 1 shredded chicken enchilada Rojas, 1 shredded chicken soft corn taco. A mango and mandarin Jarrito Mexican soda. They have a few different flavored Cholula hot sauces. The asada fries are cheesy and good, nice riff on the Botana, replaced the beef with chicken, think shredded chicken would be even better. Lots of jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole and goodness. Their medium guacamole is tasty and has a nice flavor and slight heat. Es muy sabrosa! The two salsas that come with the chips both seem pretty mild, the one is made with roasted tomatoes, looks more green. The roasted tomato salsa seems to be hotter and may have some jalapeños in there, see traces of seeds in it. The grilled chicken tacos were so tasty. My shredded chicken taco was good as well. The tostada was yummy but my favorite was the shredded chicken enchilada Rojas best. Loving their Roja sauce, could put that on everything. I put the lettuce, cheese and sour cream but I think all of my a la carte items would have been even better with lettuce, sour cream, cheese, onions and cilantro on it, next time. The one thing I would say that kept it from 5 for us, the chips weren't bad, neither the salsa, all could have been better and the chicken, grilled or shredded were all too salty for me. The service was friendly and attentive and we felt very cosy here. They brought the food out to us as it finished. They even cleaned up after us before we left. I get why this place is so well liked. My husband said their chicken tacos are as good her as his favorite place in Warren, that's quite a compliment. I liked all of my a la carte items here better. It doesn't even feel like you are at a fast food counter order Mexican here, it's small, but you will quickly forget as the hum of Latino canciones playing in the background. It feels like Cinco de Mayo here suddenly. A Margarita sounds good right about now. We will no doubt be back here soon enough. They do offer some beer options too.

Pretty overpriced for mexican food. $14 quesadilla and it came with no sides? Flavorless tacos as well, used to be better

From the doubled up corn tortillas, to the tender well cooked meat, cilantro and their wonderful sautéed onions these Street style Taco's are as authentic as anything you would get in Mexico. The gratis house chips and Salsa were equally tasty and a nice complement to the Taco's all being washed down with a sugar cane based Mexican coke. The total bill came in at a very reasonable cost of $12 which is a great value in today's economy and a great deal by any standard. Relative to staff and facility, this appears to be a small family run business where the restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall at the corner of Franklin and Square Lake Rd with an equally small footprint for the restaurant. This is a very unpretentious business (think hole in a wall but in a nice way) with a limited number of dining tables and small staff. Having said that, I had no problem in getting seated and getting my order taken and food brought out in fairly quick order! I have been on a kick for a while now trying to find the best taco joint in the the northern Oakland county area and have to say this is as good as I have come across up to now and am a big fan of this business. If you are into well made authentic Mexican street taco's than this is a must visit for you. This was my first visit here and definately will not be my last where I will be combining this dining venue with my regular Bloomfield Hills Costco trips which is a Quarter mile from the restaurant.

We seated ourselves and were greeted by a server. They had music playing in Spanish, which I loved. They brought out homemade chips and salsa that was absolutely delicious. We ordered the chicken fajitas and the chicken flautas for dinner. After about 15 minutes, we got the sizzling plates. The food was so good! The rice was cooked to perfection, the beans were seasoned well and topped with cheese, all the toppings were cut up in a way to eat them easily. Overall, everything was fresh and tasty. It's our new favorite Mexican food spot. We can't wait to go back!

I ask the server if I could have the beans that come with my burrito - his reply - "Its only one scoop!" I was confused - and repeated my question - "May I have the beans that come with my burrito?" The server repeated - "Its only one scoop!" I thought there may have been a language barrier - but no - he understood what I was asking - and because it was only one scoop of beans - he was not going to bring the beans that came with my burrito; So, he repeated for a 4th time - "its only one scoop" - as if that qualified why I should be ok with not getting a part of the meal I paid for! What made the experience worse - my beans were not the only thing the server either forgot or just didn't want to bring to the table, But we wanted to order drinks, NOPE! - he didn't bring the Verde salsa, and when we a table of 5 asked for missing items - he showed in tone, facial expression, that he was irritated with our questions for the very things that came with our meals! The terrible service it what killed it for me! Just disappointing.

The restaurant itself has a relatively small foot print where the tables are close together and where there are no frills about this place and definately a tad on the rustic side. Facility aside, this place makes some excellent authentic Mexican street tacos where my El Pastor and Asada taco's were well made, PACKED with meat (no scrimping here) and oh so tasty. Service is quite quick where once seated you get your food within a few minutes making this an excellent spot if you are on the run and looking for a good meal on the quick. Prices are cheap in my opinion where my three taco's and a coke came to just $12. NICE! Two things to note here is that the chips and salsa are not gratis but come at an extra cost and follow up once you get food was non existent in my case. Chips and salsa was not a big deal to me but lack of follow up prevented this business from getting a fifth star. The tacos are every bit as good as people say and the environment is clean and relaxed, they usually have some good music playing too. Authentic, flavorful, consistent, and made with care. But the birria is the real star for me. Hands down, it is the best birria I've had anywhere in Metro Detroit. Rich, tender, packed with flavor, and exactly the kind of thing you think about again later like it owes you money. The owner is also genuinely one of the sweetest people. He remembered my order after only a few visits, and that kind of personal touch makes the place feel even more special. I usually stick with my Mexican Coke, but I love that they have their liquor license now, because a margarita or Corona with the food is a very solid upgrade. I've brought a bunch of people here and sent a whole handful of others, and everyone has said the same thing. It is some of the best Mexican food they've ever had. One of my friends even said it was better than what he had in California and Mexico, which is a bold statement, but Que Pasa can handle bold statements. Que Pasa is not just good for the area, it is the standard I compare everyone else to. Which is probably unfair to everyone else, but here we are.

Things that worked at Que Pasa: the margaritas were excellent, and all the food we tried (tortas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas) were very good too. Things that need work: there was definitely a language barrier ordering and requesting that they bill our three families separately. They were using a handheld machine for orders and it took three times going over our order before it was finally put in correctly. Although we asked for bills separated, we wound up with one bill, which was too tricky to split up the way they had entered everything, so we paid for everything and had to figure out $ later. Not a major deal, just a nuisance. Also, no AC and the seating was the type of wood that needs shellacking since the shine has worn off and it's sticky. You leave feeling sweaty and sticky, and that's not the way you want to feel on a hot day.
