Let me start by saying that this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Michigan and we celebrated my Sons Birthday here two months ago and we were a party of eight. Now here we are celebrating another family members Birthday and we were a party of seven tonight (Six of us were from the previous celebration)... stay with me, there's a point I'm going to make. So, we all had very different orders and drinks two months ago and everything was fabulous as it always is and it just so happens that we got the same Waitress tonight that we had before and not only did she remember us, but she also remembered what each one of us ordered. I mean food AND Drinks... down to the Sugar Rim on the Margaritas and the side shots on some other drinks being served! She even remembered that I ordered Lime and Cilantro on the side of my meal and had a preference of Corn Tortillas! COME ON MAN!!! PIA IS AMAZING!!! Juan Miguel's... I don't know what you guys are paying this young woman, but whatever it is... it is not enough! She is phenomenal! Don't get me wrong, we come there for the fantastic food but Pia has made the experience something much more special than we anticipated. I try to post the positive reviews. We eat authentic Mexican on a VERY regular basis. So I feel compelled and qualified to post this one. Overall meal - average. Important point - their salsa served with chips before and with the meals is overloaded with chili powder (dark color) and would make an amazing base for chili. We didn't finish either dish due to the salsa and were really hungry by the time we arrived after traveling. The restaurant was semi full so must be some like that. For us - no bueno! Won't be back. We were kind about our critique and waitress received it well. Restaurant was clean and well kept. I mean this with kindness - Recuerdos! This is so far from Mexican food. Some other review wrote that Taco Bell is closer to authentic Mexican and I'd have to agree. The shock I felt when my quesadilla was brought out looking like this... Tortilla soup was good but it had enough cheese to kill someone who's lactose intolerant lol. Staff were nice, our waitress did a great job. This just isn't the food for me. read more

Juan Miguel's offers great service and an overall decent dining experience. Pricing is a bit higher than the average Mexican restaurant. My wife and I started off with some drinks, the blueberry lavender margarita and the mango sunrise. The first thing that came to mind when I tried the former was "Mexican long island." The mango sunrise was delicious, and one of the better margaritas I've had locally. As for the food, we began the meal with complimentary chips and salsa and bowls of chicken tortilla soup. The chips were a bit stale. I order chicken tortilla soup most times it's on a menu, and this one was solid. For our appetizers, we got Miguel's nacho grande and a deep fried flour taco. Of these, I definitely preferred the nachos over the taco. I also preferred the flour chips from the nachos over the regular corn chips. For our entrees, my wife got cheese quesadillas, and I got the trio fajita. The quesadillas were run-of-the-mill. The trio fajita includes chicken, shrimp, and steak, and is quite a hearty dish. For dessert, we got the flan, which was to die for. My 3 favorite dishes from the meal were the soup, the nachos, and the flan. I would rather drive down to Mexicantown to get my fix of Mexican, but Juan Miguel's is a spot I would go back to. read more

The best part of the experience the restaurant was the service from the young lady assisting me, She was a gem. I ordered NACHOS, served quickly, it was a large portion enough to share. It didn't taste like chorizo more of a ground beef taste. I'd probably try something else on the menu if I visited again, my Margarita, more of a grenadine drink, She offered to have it remade and it tasted the same. The restaurant got really loud and crowded while I was there. So I would suggest to check it'll at another time of day if you're seeking calmer experience. I recently came here and I was not impressed. The servers give off a bougie/ entitled vibe. My food looked good but when I ate it, it did not give real authentic Mexican food. It was very bland and tasted like came out of a box. I ordered a chimichanga, rice and beans, pretty simple. I didn't finish my food because my stomach started hurting very badly for the whole night and I had gotten sick the next day so no I do not and will not be eating at this place ever again but the restaurant itself is nice. read more

I always love going to Juan Miguel's. Our food was fresh and the margaritas tasted great. Our server was super nice and welcoming and the ambiance was calming. They had live music playing: a man playing guitar instrumental Christmas music. I forgot to take a picture of it but I also ordered the fried ice cream. We have tried this restaurant in the past and remember it being pretty good. I don't know if today was an off day or what happened but the food just wasn't very good. The veggie fajitas almost tasted sweet and had an off flavor. The beans were almost tasteless, and the salsa had a smoky flavor. Just wasn't the experience we were looking for. The service was great and the food came super fast. The music was almost so loud it was hard to hear our conversation. Not sure we will try again. read more

There's nothing authentic about a Mexican restaurant that only sells ground beef, chicken or bean tacos.

Mediocre Mexican food made by non-Mexican owners. A glop of this, a glop of that. Chicken tortilla soup was an oily pool of cheese globs. The enchiladas were very dry and filled with decent sized pieces of tough to chew shredded beef. Fajitas looked like a pile of Hungarian goulash. Good chips and salsa. I've been to this place so many times and don't know why I've never given the 5 star review it deserves!!! I've never had a bad meal or a bad experience!!! Always have had wonderful service and there's a guy who appears to be the manager...maybe he's actually Juan Miguel!!! He comes around and checks to make sure all is well. Their fajitas are amazing the fire goes up to the ceiling!!!! I've had taco salads...burritos..all great! This time I tried the fish tacos and they didn't disappoint...fresh cod prepared perfectly. This place is our family's go to for Birthdays as well as weeknight dinners. The food is amazing. If you are NOT a fan of spice ask to try the warm Spanish Salsa. It is literally amazing and I crave it by itself. Fajitas are amazing. Service is top notch. The owner is there very often and he makes himself available to his patrons. The manager is on top of every detail and we've never been disappointed with out experience. The restaurant is clean and well decorated and ventilated. I love the smells of the fajitas. First time here and we had a great time ! Super friendly staffs! The prices are incredibly reasonable for almost 2025, the portions are huge ! Went here with my family on a Saturday. Pretty busy! The bar had the games on if you wanted to eat there. Otherwise, you can get a table. The dining area was busy, but there was plenty or room. I ordered the fish tacos, which come as 3 tacos, rice, and beans. The waiters brought in the fajitas and ignited them as a little show for us, kinda like how they light saganaki in Greek restaurants. In town for work. Yelped tacos near me for taco Tuesday and found a number of choices. Picked Juan Miguel and headed out. Large parking lot because business is in a strip mall so there are many other business establishments. We parked and headed in. We were greeted kindly and seated in a booth right away. The place was packed for 5pm for dinner. Our waitress Ingrid was prompt to welcome us and took our drink order. We ordered a liter of top shelf margaritas. Pleasantly surprised that they had casamigos tequila. I ordered the quesabria with rice and beans. My husband ordered tamales and a Southwest chicken quesadilla. Our drinks arrived and we were given chips and salsa. Shortly after our entrees arrived. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The manger Carley stopped by to check on us. We told her how wonderful our meal was and that Ingrid was taking great care of us. Being from out of town and having so many options we were happy we chose Juan Miguel. She asked if we had the soup. Unfortunately we did not but she insisted we should but since we had our meal already done she gave us a soup to go. It was extremely sweet and we planned on trying it when we got back to the hotel. We were finishing our last glass of our Margaritas and Kevin, the owner, stopped by to see how our meal was. I was so happy he stopped by so we could provide him with how pleasant the establishment was, how the staff was super friendly and how fragy the food was. This place became my family's go-to Mexican restaurant - we've had others but last year we started going to Juan Miguel's at least once or twice a month! A fun atmosphere, great size restaurant with employees that are friendly - each employee always makes us feel welcomed. Great menu variety and original concepts, such as a saganaki take on fajitas (they cover with cheese, light it & say ole!) and a French onion soup take on their chicken tortilla soup (they cover it with melted cheese). Tried a variety of dishes and love them all. Great value for the portions received. That includes the bar - house margarita for $7, and it's delicious! My ONLY SINGLE COMPLAINT is the salsa - packed with flavor but seriously spicy. Especially since I always visit with my girls, they can't have it, but chow down on the guacamole instead. This had to have been one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences ever. The menu sounded great and everyone in our group was excited about the food. I had the chimichangas and they were dry. When I asked for some queso, they said that they didn't have queso, only shredded cheese, Mexican fondue and chili con queso. I thought that was odd and ordered the Mexican fondue because the waiter described it as melted cheese with chorizo. It sounded close to queso with chorizo. Well, the fondue didn't look good at all. The other 2 guests had the flaming fajitas which were bland and had low quality meat. Don't be fooled by the fiery show that they put on to bring it out...it's not worth it. I live right around here, and it was my first time going. Hall rd restaurant scene has completely gone down since covid drastically. It's extremely tough to find a restaurant that has constantly good food and decent service for a fair price, open late etc. Took my mother. service was fine, I didn't have a problem with my waitress. The reason for my 2/5 rating was the food. Mexican food isn't hard to get right (I'm a cook for a living). I ordered a taco salad, It came out on a flat plate, no tortilla shell bowl and I had to drain off like half of a cup's worth of water/grease from my dish because I'm guessing the salad was washed but not drained properly. Before that I ordered the Chili Con Queso for the app, same thing watery, it was a ball of cheese sitting in salsa mess. I won't be returning El Charros is much much better. read more

This is our favorite spot for fresh, delicious Mexican food! The service is incredibly fast--you'll have your food before you know it. If you're looking for a place to sit and relax, this might not be the spot, but if you want great food quickly, this is the place to go.
