I am giving them a 3 stars because how the staff was very friendly with the little ones when we arrived and the how the filet was cooked for a few individuals. Other than that, it was a very mediocre experience, the waitress was nonexistent after taking our order other than to drop the bills off... didn't even present desserts to possibly order. The catch of the day which myself and other individual got lack flavor and did not have an appealing spread with it. Being a northern, I was extremely excited for good seafood which I was let down after eating this. The swordfish was supposed to be herb and garlic seasoned with a beet, tomato, citrus salad... it lacked any taste of herb or garlic along with the citrus or earthy beet flavor... for what we paid, the service and food was extremely overpriced and the ambiance was unappealing. We came to the Grill Room for lunch while vacationing in Corolla (Outer Banks). This is right next to the Go Karts in Timbuck 2. Marcus did a nice job taking care of us. He was friendly, efficient, and conversed with us about the area. We had an Ahi Tuna sandwich, chicken fingers, and a burger. Everything was pretty decent. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and greeted by friendly staff. We were seated right away and immediately our server, Caroline, came to our table and offered us beverages, explained the menu, since it was our first time visiting, and ordered our appetizers. It was a very friendly and comfortable place. The service was excellent, the food was beyond delicious, and the desserts were obviously freshly made and used amazing ingredients. One of our favorite things about dinner was the sauce with the mussels. My nephew even used it as a dipping sauce for his chicken tenders and the remainder of his bread. I wish Yelp had a 1/2 star option, as I would've given the Grill Room 3-1/2. We had a private table in a corner, which was nice. The service was okay and the food was decent, but not as good as we anticipated. Two of us ordered the tenderloin, and both were cooked beyond the requested temp (medium rare and medium). My wife and I went for their Easter Sunday Brunch. I had made a reservation before they had opened for the season with Meghann, who it turns out is the owner. She was very friendly via email and came by to say hello when we were at our table. Our server was very attentive and timely. They had some special items for Easter, and a regular breakfast and brunch menu as well. We both ordered a Bloody Mary, with the bacon garnish. It really was just a slice of bacon stuck into the drink. Not sure it was worth the extra $2. My wife got the spicy chicken biscuit with a side of fruit. I had the Corolla Breakfast. 2 eggs, sausage patty, 3 bacon, a biscuit and home fries. All was very tasty! We particularly loved the home fries! For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie! Top notch through and through and the perfect way to spend our last night of dinner in OBX after doing the Jeep beach tour. Everyone was very accommodating, especially being that we arrived 30 minutes prior to closing. That seriously tells you a lot. Inside was very clean and slightly above casual. We were dressed pretty causal being that we just came from a beach tour. We didn't completely stand out. Hahaha. I started with the seafood chowder and the table began with the beef skewers and the tomato pie. Chowder was excellent and fresh. Beef sticks were extremely tender. My son was very worried being they he just got braces, but the meat was very good quality. The tomato pie was very interesting. It was tomatoes with mozzarella but baked in a pie form. Very different and very good. For dinner, I got the seafood pasta and my son got the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes. Seafood pasta was amazing. Came with crab claws, little clams and fresh fish with fusilli in a cream sauce. Absolutely delicious. My son's grilled chicken was very tender and cooked to his likings. My husband and I have been looking forward to eating here for the past several years but always were told how busy they were and you needed a reservation. We went there for lunch and walked right in without issue and sat immediately. The table was nasty and sticky. I ordered a bowl of She crab soup it was more like a cup of soup. The "bowl" wasn't even a half an inch deep. The soup was average nothing to be thrilled about and definitely not worth the $14 price tag. I should have gotten the $11 cup it would have been the same amount. I ordered a poolside drink and it was blue which in the ingredients it never said it had curaçao. We took a party of 12 to Mike Dianna's on July 5, 2024. Availability was the deciding factor. The atmosphere was one of palpable rush to turn tables. Our server was insensitive to the state of the table and interrupted and rushed entree orders. One of the orders was "lost", leaving my spouse without a plate. They apologized profusely and comped her meal, but it still took way longer than it should have to get a medium-rare strip steak replaced. The drinks were "meh". The GR Smash was bereft of bourbon and only hinted at the fruit flavoring. Warm bread was excellent, but olive oil/salt/pepper arrived way after the bread. The entrees were mostly pleasing, although it's unsatisfactory, at this price point, to have "steak with mashed potatoes and green beans" or "steak with rice and summer vegetables". No other choices, no separate sides, no family style - and that's $59 for that 12 oz New York Strip, friend. When the best thing you can say is "they had space for 12", then it's time to plan better and reserve earlier for next time. read more

I went to Mike Dianna's for work and we were recommended this restaurant. The restaurant doesn't open until 5pm so it was a bit hectic and chaotic inside. The decor is...awful. There's barely any decor at all and I felt like I was going to go insane if I had to sit in that room of brown dividers and white diamond shaped drop ceiling panels for too long. The food came out pretty quickly but it wasn't colorful at all. It just looked unappetizing and I decided to skip the appetizers that my boss had gotten for the table. I ordered the "award winning" seafood chowder. It was good but it didn't blow me out of the water. My boss raved over the green beans but that was it out of an entire steak dinner. The whole table wasn't very impressed with their individual meals. Though my review is harsh, the reason why I gave two stars instead of one is because our waiter was beyond accommodating. I wish I knew his name but it was so loud in the restaurant. He was very quick, polite, and helpful. I honestly felt bad for him because he was running around in a very busy restaurant and it was nonstop. There was a waitress that kept coughing every time she passed by us and that kinda made me feel anxious. Overall, not a great experience at all and definitely not worth the high price. We came here for brunch after going on a horse tour. They take reservations which is helpful during the high season. Our table was a little awkward since it was a two top with a seat added on the end. I love pickled things so I got the pickle plate as an appetizer. I really enjoyed the yellow pickles and the pickled strawberries were something different I had never tried before. I had the eggs Benedict with an added shrimp cake. The overall vibe of the restaurant was elegant but then as we were seated the servers slapped brown paper over the crisp white linen table cloths like we were placed at the kids table at Thanksgiving. It was odd and definitely made the experience feel cheap. The food was extremely pricey, which would have been warranted had it been delicious, unfortunately our meals left us wanting more. Complimentary bread and oil was served at the start of our meal, which we later joked was the best thing we ate all dinner. We ordered the crab bisque and while the flavor was amazing there was little to no crab in the soup itself. I ordered the seafood pasta that was supposed to come tossed in a pesto sauce. My pasta looked like it has been tossed in milk and had chopped up basil throughout. There was a good amount of seafood in the pasta, but it had zero flavor and tasted overall awful. My parents ordered filets medium rare and weren't impressed with the quality or flavor. We ordered 3 drinks, 3 appetizers & 3 entrees and spent over $250 not including our tip. I will say this location had good customer service and our server was extremely knowledgeable and kind. My parents visited this restaurant often "back in the day" and unfortunately it did not live up to their memory of it. read more

But even though you look like a creature that unfortunately survived the actual events of Oppenheimer and may have some otherworldly wisdom and experience that you could impart on us; this is a family friendly place, and all we were asking about is music. So, unless you're a scientist collecting radioactive scabies or you want to catch Hep C, stay away from this unfortunate guy and this place - until they shell out for some quality musicians that'd probably survive a whole set and you'd get your money's worth. We stumbled upon this place while on a family vacation. Most places in the area are closed due to current circumstances. We had a party of 14 people and arrived in between the breakfast and dinner hours but they graciously served us. The restaurant was very clean and the employees were outstanding. They provided top notch customer service throughout our visit. I ordered the chicken biscuit with hash browns and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was fresh white meat and super juicy. It was cooked just right. The hash browns were also very tasty. My boyfriend ordered the landlovers omelette with hash browns and a biscuit. He really enjoyed it and ate every bite. Their biscuits are made fresh daily and are to die for! I can't say enough about our waitress. She was super friendly and helpful the entire time. Some people were eating on the front porch, but it was pretty windy. So we asked for a table inside and were seated in the very back room by a window. We tried a local beer; the Lost Colony Blonde, which was only $7 but was quite good. I ordered the pulled pork Carolina BBQ sandwich, which was very tasty, came with cole slaw on it and home fries, which were like flat steak fries. My husband had the vegetable quiche with a salad. The food came out in about 15 minutes, and we demolished both items quickly. It took a little while for the server to pick up our check, but overall, it was a great lunch stop. Brought our daughter here for her OBX birthday celebration dinner with family because they had a delicious key lime pie, and it did not disappoint. We didn't really go for entrées, but everyone enjoyed the Green Onion & Artichoke Dip appetizer, and they were quick with the bread and oil. They also enjoyed the shrimp cakes and fried oysters. Well I really think it's a 3.5 star place. We had a reservation for 17 people. Told we would need to split up into 2 tables. Not a big deal we are used to that. They put 11 at a table and 6 stuck in a booth made for 4. I literally sat the entire meal half hanging out of the booth. It was crowded for the dinner rush 5:30-7:30 but when we left there was no line of people waiting. First it is really expensive. We had $43 and $46 steaks. I personally do not think that the steaks were high enough quality to warrant that price. 2 Shrimp cake dinner at $30 2 crab cake dinner at $35 Also $5 for a side of mushrooms on the steak. The chowder was pretty good. I think the steaks were cooked ok, except when you ask for something slightly different. If you want medium you will get medium But my daughter likes her steak between medium and medium well. So we asked for it that way. We were told the system is not set up for that you can get it medium and if it needs more time we can send it back. Of course it needed more time you only cooked it medium. We asked for more than medium. This as a 12 year old orders a $43 steak and your tip goes up because she didn't order an $8 kids meal. You should be able to accommodate. The flavors were pretty good although some of the sauces were thin and runny. It seems to be a running story that the only sides you can get are mashed and green beans.
