I left Mike Erdman Toyota feeling angry, frustrated, and taken advantage of. My service advisor was Melina Johnson, and while she was polite during our interaction, the way the pricing was presented to me left me feeling completely misled. I brought my 2024 Toyota Tacoma in for routine service and was quoted approximately $75 for an oil change, a free tire rotation, and roughly $140-150 for rear brake service. During the inspection, I was told my rear brake pads measured 5 mm. In other words, this was not an emergency repair. The brakes were not unsafe, and the repair could have waited. I approved a repair I didn't need today because I believed I was receiving the price I was quoted. That is where my frustration begins. The brake job somehow landed at the very top of the quoted range. The oil change ended up higher than the number that was discussed. Then taxes, shop fees, and additional charges pushed the final amount charged to my card to $280.75. When I questioned the difference, the explanation I received was that the quoted prices were "before taxes and shop fees." Frankly, I found that explanation unacceptable. Taxes and shop fees do not magically appear after a customer agrees to a repair. Those costs were known before I authorized the work. If the actual amount I was expected to pay was close to $281, then that is the number that should have been presented before I was asked to make a decision. What bothers me most is that this was a non-urgent repair. Had I been given the true out-the-door cost from the beginning, I very likely would have postponed the brake service and waited until it was actually needed. Instead, I feel that the lowest possible numbers were emphasized to get approval, while the real cost only became clear afterward. The entire experience felt predatory. It felt like a sales process designed to make a non-urgent repair sound inexpensive enough to approve, only for the final bill to grow once the customer has already committed. Whether that was intentional or simply the way this service department operates, the result was the same: I walked away feeling deceived. Customers should not have to do mental math, guess at hidden costs, or wonder what the real total will be. Customers deserve honest, transparent, out-the-door pricing before they authorize work on their vehicles. I trusted the information provided by Melina Johnson when deciding whether to spend my money. Looking back, I feel that trust was misplaced. I asked if your advisor could have the tech look and pinpoint it and he said yes. But i guess they just want money and that it. The pictures of my car is how i got it returned. When we went to sign papers, extra charges for Erdguard of 1095, for items included with truck, higher interest rate and lower value for trade by almost 5000 than agreed day before. I bought a care from Mike Erdman and the air conditioner went out within three days. I took it back three times for them to fix it. They said they sent it to their master Cadillac technician. It worked for about five months. We decided to trade the car in for a truck because a truck was what we needed. We were told by another dealer that our car had a major structural damage on the carfax report. When we bought the car we asked for the carfax and were told we could access that after they emailed it to us but there were no accidents on the carfax. The next day we received the email from the dealer and there was on accident reported on it. We spoke to the head sales person and she said yes there were three very minor accidents reported and that was it. When we found out about the structural damage we asked that dealer for the carfax and it was different from the one Erdman had given us. We took it back to Erdman and met with them. They gave us the report they had on file the day we bought it. When comparing them I found that there were five accidents on the one we got from the other dealer. I showed them the discrepancies. I was told that someone with fat fingers must have accidentally put the accident with the structural damage on our car and they would fix it. I asked about the others and they did not comment on the other discrepancies. Two days later the one accident was off the carfax but the others were still there and they still did not match the carfax that Erdman gave to us. We asked for a buy back and they said they will do a trade in. I said no I want a buy back. They did not comply. After an incident where we had to put in an insurance claim, as soon as the technician plugged it into the computer it was red flagged because it had a salvage title under the GM manufacturing back in 2019. Legally they were not permitted to sell us the car since it had a salvage title. We went back to Erdman and were told that they would just give us a higher trade offer to fix it. Do not shop this Toyota if you can avoid it. What started off as a good experience turned sour. My husband and I went in to test drive a 4Runner and fell in love with it but they didn't have the color/options I wanted so they told us we could put down a $1000 FULLY-REFUNDABLE deposit and they said they would contact other dealerships in the area to see if the car I wanted was available. They gladly took my credit card out of sight and certainly failed to mention a 3% non-refundable service charge. The very next morning, my husband was able to find the exact car I wanted at another Toyota dealership and without the outrageous $4700 "dealer adjustments" they tack on to the MSRP and without any credit card service charges on the refundable deposit! I immediately contacted Mike Erdman Toyota to say I wanted my refundable deposit back because I just wanted to work directly with the other Toyota dealership. Fast-forward 3.5 weeks later and MULTIPLE phone calls, still no refund. At least once, I was told I would get a call back from a manager - never happened. My husband finally got hold of a manager and they said they would mail us a check but of course without the 3% service charge that they NEVER TOLD US ABOUT. They've stopped replying to my emails as well. Today, after a total of 36 days from when I initially said I wanted my refund, I received the check. So all-in-all, I drove almost an hour out of my way to go to this dealership, lost $30 in credit card service fees, and wasted a month of my time dealing with this nonsense. This Dealership attempted a bait and switch scheme. I found a vehicle on Autotrader and asked the dealership if it was still available. When I went in less than an hour later they said it was sold, and the Sales Manager Will Becker said he would find a similar vehicle at a similar price. Came back with a different vehicle that had a higher sticker price. When I found that vehicle on Autotrader it was listed $4,300 cheaper than the sticker price. Will then told me that the Autotrader price was for financing only, and that if I were to pay cash I'd pay the much healthier sticker price which is against FL state law. Beyond disappointed at Mike Erdman Toyota. Loyal owner of three Toyota vehicles: a Corolla, a Supra and Highlander. All service done at dealer and using only genuine Toyota parts. Almost purchasing a 2025 loaded 4Runner from Mike Erdman Toyota until my horrible service experience with my Highlander battery this weekend. My vehicle failed to start and I knew the battery was gone. It is a Toyota TrueStart battery with 84 months warranty that was installed April 2023. I took the car to Mike Erdman on Friday, May 16 to have it checked and after waiting for an hour or so I was told the machine to test batteries was not working and I had to leave the car and take a loaner vehicle until Monday when they would have the machine fixed. Really??? A big dealer such as Mike Erdman only has one machine to test batteries and when it fails, they need to send customers home in a loaner vehicle? Monday came and I had to call for an update. I was told the machine had not arrived and that it would be delivered Tuesday. I was told that I would receive a call around 10:30am on Tuesday. Nobody called and I called back requesting an updated status. The service advisor was not available and I was told a message was sent to call me back. That never happened and I decided to go in person to the dealer. Upon arrival around 12:30pm on Tuesday I was told the battery had not been checked yet and they had to put some kind of cables together. This time I was told to give them a couple hours. After an hour or so I received a call saying the battery was defective, which I knew, but they had to confirm where it was purchased to process the prorated warranty. However, the dealer could not find a record of purchase of this battery in their records, and therefore could not honor the warranty. Which means that if I buy a battery in Florida and move to another state or even another city, no other dealer can honor the battery warranty, unless it is the place of purchase. In times when technology allows information exchange with a few keystrokes I find it hard to believe a Toyota dealer is so purchase record isolated. In looking at my records realized the battery was purchased and installed by a body shop when I took the vehicle for repairs. I went to ask for help in locating the purchase record since the battery is Toyota and there are only two Toyota dealers nearby. Unfortunately, they only had a record for the first battery they installed, which being an aftermarket left me stranded and I had to ask them to replace with the OEM battery since I only use OEM parts in my vehicles. That is where the Toyota TrueStart from April 2023 came into the picture. I did take a picture of the battery when it was installed April 2023, so that narrowed down the search period. The body shop offered to keep looking through their records, which I appreciate from them. Went back to Mike Erdman dealer and explained the situation. The service advisor called the body shop and I was told I had to take the car (with a dead battery) to the body shop and have them take care of it or buy a new battery at full price. I asked the service rep to look for purchase records of a battery from the body shop around April 2023. I was told no matches. Then I asked to do the same for the other Toyota dealer nearby and was told they could not look into another dealer's transactions, after being told earlier they could look anywhere. I asked to speak to the Mike Erdman Toyota service manager and after waiting for a long time was told he was in a meeting. That was adding insult to injury. If it had been to persuade me on the purchase of a new car the manager would have been there in no time. So much for customer service. I asked for my car and left the dealer to solve the problem on my own. I understand they could not locate the purchase record and I understand there is a process. But there should be a willingness to work with the customer and look at options and keep loyal customers being loyal to the brand and the dealer. I was not looking for a free battery. I know the warranty is prorated and have no issue with that. Over time I have noticed the degradation of quality of service at Mike Erdman and their lack of customer focus. It is all about money and what they can get from you. The photo I'm posting is an example of their poor attention to detail after I received the vehicle. Could not even put back the positive terminal cover. What a hack job!! Recently I had work done in the rear brakes and had to go twice to get it fixed for a noise when braking. They said it needed break grease but who knows. All I can say is beware of Mike Erdman Toyota. Their service department is not what it used to be, for the worst. This was from Veteran's Day the 11th of November 2024 and being a Disabled Veteran visiting Mike Erdman Toyota in Cocoa. The Events: On the 8th of November 2024, I had taken in my 2022 Rav4 warranty service. The Toyota Service Advisor -- Macey Hall had checked all the 'money makers' for the dealership. She noted that the 2022 Rav4 has new aftermarket tires, a K&N Air Filter, and then showed me my dirty cabin filter. She recommended that the dealership replacement of my Dirty Cabin Air Filter for a cost of $31, (which is on Amazon for $16). I told her no; I did not want it replaced; she stated, "How about the Cabin Air Filter for $20; I will put it back in myself; so you don't have to stop and get one." I only agreed to the $20 expense. The bill includes service fees and many different charges. Further, Macey H. informed me, " You got a discount, and my cost is now $35." I did not know the expenses, so I planned to total the figures upon returning home. I was charged full price for the cabin air filter and the $15 install fee. I returned on the 11th of Nov: I confronted the Service Advisor Macey H. She informed me; "there was nothing that could be done about my bill and that she had never heard of the Cabin Air Filter costing $20." But instead, they would offer a 'line of credit' for some other high-priced item in the future. It was not the total amount; it was the underlying dishonesty and lack of integrity when it comes down to taking advantage of people. I purchased my Toyota Grand Highlander from Mike Erdman Toyota. Less than 2 months later there was sound coming from my car. I dropped off my SUV at Erdman Toyota for 6 days. 1. Erdman had my Grand Highlander for 6 days. Jimmy the manager did folllow up. However, Jimmy was off for a few days and Emily was supposed to follow up. I called and they said "Emily will call you back in 1 hour." I waited 2-3 hours, no call back. I called again, and they said "Emily is busy with a customer." Then the secretary was trying to pass a message to me saying "we are waiting back to hear back from Toyota. Emily failed to call me back. Emily elected to not get on the phone and provide a report. Emily demonstarted poor communication and representation of Erdman. Emily will have no argument or rebuttal for this. 2. 6 days my SUV was Erdman. They gave me a Corolla to try. I made them aware that I have multiple children and a Toyota Corolla vs a Grand Highlander are completely different. They did not care. They refused to provide an SUV. Their poor justifciation "its what we have available." You spend 55k for an 7 seater and they give you a $20k 4 seater. Still struggling to see the issue? 3. Jasmine the manager whom assists with car loaners. I returned the Toyota Corolla with 1 bar less than full. Jasmine and another rep were there. I told her to go talk to Jimmy the Manager -- between the poor service, being provided a corolla over an SUV, Emily not calling back, Erdman having my SUV for 6 days that -- this is enough reason for Erdman to fill that 1 bar. Do you want to know what Jasmine's response was to me "I have to hold everyone accountable." --- Sadly Erdman Toyota does not hold their own employees "accountable." We can all comfortably and confidently agree that Jasmine struggles with troubleshooting leadership, judgement and the abilites to assess individual situations. They said they tested and did a pressure check on system and found no leaks. LOL A big car company like this doesn't even have the camera so they can look under the dash. My husband and I just left the dealership after an encounter with the most arrogant and rude salesman we've ever talked to. We had just come from test driving a truck at a different dealership in Cocoa because we are making a purchase this weekend. We asked to drive a mid-level Tacoma. This salesman, we didn't get his name but he was the only Hispanic salesman there, asked for my husband's driver's license and said, "We're planning to come back and finalize this sale today, right?" It was exactly what we were looking for. MG made the experience so easy, as did Larry, sales manager. I never felt pressured. A "good deal" is one both parties can walk away from feeling the did the best they could do. I walked away with that feeing. Mike Erdman Toyota is ethical and they're all pleasant to deal with. It's obvious the customer comes first there...I never went in or out a door where an employee wasn't holding the door open for me. That's good customer service. Traded my leased 2020 Tacoma for a leased 2024 Camry. My wife, and I didn't care much for the car. We went back 2 days later to take advantage of their 9 day, 500 mile offer, which allows you to return the vehicle within 9 days, and 500 miles. I was told that it does not apply to leased vehicles. While their website does say "Purchased vehicles" it says nothing about leased vehicles being excluded. It's dirty business if you ask me, and I suspect that no one that I dealt with even knew the policy. Erdman Toyota will never see my business again. You screwed the little guy, Erdman. Four years ago I bought a car from Erdman's and they did nothing but try to connive me, from the start, even the sales people knew it. They reneged on the phone promise they had given to me, to get me there. When they finally came up with a compromise, "So I thought", I agreed to buy the car. Now you do the math.... A forty (40) thousand dollar car, I got them to give back half of the promise, which was fifteen hundred, (1,500), I put down five thousand, (5,000)... and walked out of there with a loan for 40,000 dollars. which meant that I paid about $46,000, for that car. They added moneys on here and there to get more than the car was worth. I just went to Earl Stewart Toyota to get the exact same car four years newer, more features on the vehicle, much more, four years newer, and paid, out the door... $46,000. WOW, you tell me who ripped me off?????? Also, I went to Erdman's service department. And as they were putting my credit card through, the lady told me they charge for using credit cards, I said, I wish you had said something before you ran that card, I have a check book in my purse, They charged more than the credit card company charged them. One, I'm a bookkeeper, two, the credit card companies charge 4.5 percent, it was a one hundred dollar charge, I paid over one hundred and ten. I didn't intend to write this so I don't remember exactly, but it could have been one-fifteen. Point, it is worth the two hour drive to Earl Stewart, to save from four thousand to seven thousand dollars. For Mike Erdman is not the only Toyota dealership I inquired about my second car. The range was that much of a difference, from one dealership to another. But Mike Erdman had to be one of the top of my dislike list. I hate the feeling of someone getting ahead at my expense. I had my car out there for a repair as my a/c was not working. I was told by another shop that it was the compressor. I called and got an appt to put the car in to have them replace it due to that is where I take it for all of my repair and oil changes. Well the mechanic who worked on my car said it was something else and not the compressor that was fi e I was told. So took it back cause having the same issue and now they say it is the compressor. They said oh he thought it was ok. Now due to the other repair and them stating I needed other things had them fix that but now can not fix the compressor like they were suppose to. Absolutely unethical approach. We agreed to purchase a new car and put a deposit down. The day before pickup, they increased the price by $2,000. When we wouldn't pay the increased price, they refused to refund our $1,000 deposit. Avoid this dealer - find an alternative unless you want to be ripped off. read more
