Long story short: We had to total my son's car because of them. My son hit a deer. No frame damage. Airbags didn't deploy. Just the hood, quarter panel, light, and front grill/bumper. Insurance company works with Mike's. $4k estimate. Dropped it off on day 1. They said it would take 10 days, give or take. Day 11 I drive by because we hadn't heard anything. The car is sitting under a metal carport with the hood, bumper, and side panels off to the side. The mechanic comes out and says it's the car that's being totalled. No one ever called me. On day 3, they found a loose wire on the top of the engine requiring the entire harness to be replaced for $3k plus 6 hours of labor and a dent in the radiator bracket. That changed the estimate to $10k- more than the insurance threshold. No one ever called me. It sat outside, uncovered for over a week. The cabin air filter was open and exposed during a rain. There were leaves all in the engine compartment. Day 12, a Friday, I contact the insurance company and start figuring out my options. Day 16, a Tuesday, I call Mike's to find out how I could walk away from the insurance claim because I found a shop that would replace the 1 loose wire with a $100 pigtail and leave the radiator as is because it doesn't affect the structure. He says it will cost me $110 a day in storage fees. From here the relationship goes sideways and the insurance company gets involved to tell him he can't do that. Unfortunately, at this point, I can't drop the insurance claim to fix it ourselves or take the car back as a salvage title after it was exposed to the elements and questioning what other damage would show up that wasn't there during the first estimate. read more

I was so thankful when Tim L. arrived even quicker than expected and was able to remedy the situation quickly and professionally. He was even kind enough to joke around to help me relax about an otherwise stressful situation. He provided helpful safety tips and answered all of my questions with expertise. COMPLETELY BRUSHED OFF. TLDR: There was mouse poop in my "new" car doors. Many problems would have been caught weeks earlier if Mike had not dismissed my information on the crash I experienced (maybe it was because I'm a young woman trying to advocate for myself). You can tell they were rushing to get my car out of the shop and neglected the test drive and who knows what else. I was T-boned and took my car here on recommendations of many, but I will discourage anyone else from having to deal with this condescending and pacifying shop. When I brought my car in I asked Mike to go over what happened and I explained how I did a 180 turn and went over two curbs. During this time I also let him know my battery was probably damaged due to my doors being ajar for awhile while I waited for shop availability. Fast-forward to finding out the entire passenger side of my car needed to be cut off, rewelded, and replaced. This understandably took a long time. Finally, over a month later They said it was waiting on one last part due to using used doors as a replacement but would be ready in a few days. That was when he decided to bring up that for the ENTIRE TIME my car had been in the shop my battery was not working properly and I should buy a new one. He had not cared enough to remember me mentioning the damage from the accident and waited until only a few days before to say I couldn't even drive it from the shop in the state it was. Almost two months after my accident I went to get my car. As I drove off I started to hear multiple noises and could feel my car shaking. When I went back to the shop I also had looked closer at my used doors to find them DISGUSTING and full of MOUSE CRAP. Mike tried to tell me "used doors aren't perfect" to excuse the poor quality cleaning his shop did (if they cleaned at all). I was also told during the test drive they can't tell if a major disruptive noise like that was something from before the accident (when they had my cars perfect history and low mileage to reference) which is why they did nothing about it. Come to find out that noise was from an issue under the front of my car that I had tried to bring attention to from the very beginning and was dismissed about. As a young woman trying to advocate for herself, it was clear that this shop did not prioritize my car and wanted it out of their shop as quickly as possible. not to mention the way every time I brought up any information or concerns it was dismissed or pacified, only to be proven useful after plenty of time waisted. read more

On May 30th I ran out of gas about 6 miles from the Urbana exit on 270. I called AAA and soon received a call from Timothy L with Mike's Auto Body. I wasn't sure where I was and my he couldn't get an adequate read from my iPhone location so he patiently asked great questions and figured out where I was. He had to go through a lot of traffic and it took an hour for him to get to me but he called every 15 minutes to check on me and tell me his location. He alerted me that it was him when he pulled up (it was very dark by now) and was absolutely wonderful. He put gas in the tank and I was on my way. He was the best and reading the reviews for this business makes me think all the employees there are. I highly recommend. read more

I got myself in a tricky situation during the last snow storm going uphill on a narrow lane leading to a house. I got stuck halfway up the hill and I started sliding off the lane onto a sloppy grassy area. My van was in a precarious situation and ready to flip on its side. I called AAA and they dispatched Mike's Auto Body. They show up with a heavy truck with a winch, and operated by two young guys - I forgot to ask their names. It took them almost 1 hour and multiple attempts from different angles to get me back on track. I was a busy day for them and they never showed any signs of frustration and they kept going at it until the job was done. This review is for Pete, our wonderful tow truck driver from Mike's Auto Body Towing and Recovery. Our car broke down near Thurmont on an absolutely frigid Sunday, but Pete arrived within an hour of AAA dispatching him. He got our car on the flat bed quickly and we were on our way. Since we'd had the transmission replaced less than a week ago down in Virginia, we decided to have it towed there. Pete was happy to take us 85 miles and provided us with heat, good music, and great conversation. He was very professional and made a frustrating day so much more manageable. I hope we don't need a tow anytime soon, but we would definitely recommend Mike's to others in the area. read more

Big thumb's up for Craig, who was manning the MAB tow truck late one Saturday night this past month. I was driving a borrowed hybrid Hyundai Sonata which -- while smart enough to sense when the driver was present, or not -- didn't have the smarts to shut down when I left the lights on in the car. 10 hours latter, dead battery. Craig came to my hotel near Gettysburg PA quickly, via Hyundai's owner program, and was calm(ing) and thorough in diagnosing the problem, talking me through the peculiarities of hybrid's occasional electric problems, and recharging the battery, and getting me going within an hour. read more

My vehicle was rear ended about two months ago. I contacted my insurance company to report a claim. They recommended I use Mike's Auto. I had my vehicle towed there that same night. I went the next day to get several belongings out of my vehicle. I spoke with Mike (owner) and asked him if my vehicle was totaled. (It was pretty close to being totaled). He laughed and said it was no where near being totaled, and it was only about 5,000 worth of damage. I used to work at a car dealership, I know how a body shop works. They don't want it to be totaled, no money in their pocket. I immediately called Bill's Auto Body and had my vehicle removed from Mike's and towed to Bill's. They did an estimate for 10,545.43. And it only needed to be 11,500 to be totaled. So YES, it was in fact very close to being totaled. I wouldn't waste your time with them. read more

Bev Greene · 3 seconds ago Mike's Autobody did good work repairing my car after a collision with a deer. However, I was called, my car was finished on a Wednesday. I picked it up and had to take it right back because a headlight warning light was on in the dash. I was told it would be taken care of and would be finished Thursday. I showed the person behind the counter what the light was because he didn't know and the book said take to a qualified Mazda service center. Picked it up Thursday, during daylight hours, went home. However when I went to leave at 5:30am still dark outside my headlight warning light back on and headlights were not working correctly, pointing down towards the ground. I had to go to work and did not get off in time to get back to Mikes but really didn't want to go back either because I had already taken my car back for same thing. Went to A certified Mazda service center on Saturday for diagnostics and guess what headlights were not calibrated to work correctly and we're throwing codes. Now because Mike's wanted to use "their guy" (his words) and not open on Saturdays, I had the problems fixed by new place. Everything is working great the way led directional headlights should however now I have to pay over $2000 out of pocket all because Mikes couldn't calibrate headlights and wouldn't use the only service center in the area who could. Today my wife was driving westbound on interstate 70 when she ran over a foreign object that was lying on the roadway the impact caused her front rear tire to blow out. Luckily Pete Ambrose was close he was working on another vehicle who hit the same object. Pete walked over to check on my wife and offered assistance to her when he was completed . Just picked up car after being repaired by Mikes Auto Body in Thurmont. I called a mile down the road, to tell them there was a vibration in the car. He stated that he had installed (USED ROTORS???) and that they would need to be turned. After an emergency tow bill from New Market to Thurmont (contracted by State Police) for over $350.00, he charged for another $2200.00 for repair. No problem with the charge, even though it was very high, however not standing behind his shoddy work was disappointing! Methinks not... BBB here we come read more
