Do not trust and do not bother driving all the way out to this place to repair your vehicle and do not ever consider alignment or linkage repair. The extremely rude and nasty little goth receptionist ( who had earlier yelled at me on the phone) just handed me an invoice with a huge number on it that I was supposed to pay but there were no itemization or details on this invoice of what they did. Mike was standing nearby. Do not trust this kind service. I only went to this guy because he was conveniently close by but I will certainly not need this repair service anymore. I will be driving the extra distance to Les Schwab from now on for this type of work and it turned out that Schwab's cost would have been the same or less plus I get the guarantees along with a highly detailed invoice from a trusted source. read more

My truck recently had a major issue with the exhaust manifolds both going bad... Yes it is a Ford ‍. Marty was nice to talk to and seemed knowledgeable. They fixed it and it's runny great now! Only slight complaint is when they tore into it more and needed more parts. I wasn't made aware until it came time to pay. Original estimate was at $1,300 ended up being $2,100. read more

These guys are awesome. Fair, fast and efficient. Very hard to find a trustworthy mechanic. I tried Mikes out this week for a cooling issue that involved an expansion valve and my cooling fan, as well as regular service- they also replaced a wheel bearing. Very upfront guys, no nonsense. They fixed my issues and had the work truck back on the road quickly. Mikes was recommended to me by my nurse from the hospital and I'm glad I went. She's been using him for over a decade and I see why. My family is already asking me where to go. It's about 8 minutes off highway 14- easy to get to. I will never use Mike's ever again. took my super duty truck to them to have my front ball joints replaced and steering looked at since I didn't have the time to do the work my self. This is a truck that doesn't get used every much since I drive a company truck. They replaced the ball joints, wheel bearings and tie rod ends $1,500 parts and labor. Picked up the truck and drove it and noticed that the steering was still sloppy, took the truck back and they tightened up the steering box. they told me it will be a little tight but it should loosen up over time. it's been two years know and less than 5,000 miles since the work was done on the truck and the steering is so bad now that it has become dangerous to dive. I pulled it in my shop and took the hole front end apart and found that they use cheap Chinese ball joint parts which had sized up on both sides causing major failure. I called Mike's auto and they said that my had no invoice in there computer system. they told me to send a picture of the invoice which I did. "Silence" I have purchased all new top quality parts which are far less than Mike's cheep low grade parts which They had over charged me for. They replaced the wheel bearing assembly but never fixed the 4 wheel drive vacuum hub assembly system. Shame on my for thinking I would getting a fair an professional installation. It's obvious to me that they are out there to make a quick buck! read more

Have been going to Mikes auto for a couple years since we've lived in Washougal. Had decent service until we had a transmission start hard shifting. I scanned the vehicle and knew it was throwing a generic transmission code and a transmission temp sensor code P0700 and P0714. We called Mikes auto and asked if they did transmission work or if we should seek a transmission shop. We were told that they did transmission work and to bring it in. They called us after the weekend and told us that it needed to go to a transmission shop because they were unable to service it. We were charged 70 dollars for the vehicle to be scanned, and for them to find the same two codes I had already told them that the vehicle was throwing. Waste of time and money. read more

I was referred to Mike's from an old high school friend so I took my '96 Ford Ranger in to get the speedometer sensor fixed and the console lights replaced and a few other things. Picked my truck up and was told everything was done I had requested & working. As I was driving away I noticed the speedometer gauge was still not working and called Marty right away who told me it must have broke 'again' and that they're really busy so I'll have to bring it back in a couple weeks mind your Id already paid in full. I don't think they did a road test to make sure it was repaired or they'd have seen it was not working. Console lights were replaced but the dirt in my dash screen wasn't cleaned out and that's basic common courtesy in all shops I've went to prior; it isn't easy taking the dash apart so why not make sure it gets wiped down of all the dirt and leaves?? Right? I called the shop next morning explaining I needed it fixed right away since I've already paid & Marty was very short and rude saying when they can get it it they will, it could be a few weeks they are super busy then hung up on me. K called back asking to speak with Mike, the owner, and was told no. I said I was going to come by after work before they close and I did and their gate was locked shut- before closing time. I have never been able to speak to Mike. Marty will not let me. Went to my bank to get the amount disputed on my credit card & the teller said she knows Mike and he's super nice and wouldn't let this happen if he knew the situation and please call him, that he'll do me right, before I proceed to dispute the payment. I tried. Marty will not let me speak to Mike ever. He just says Kike is busy and he's not going to get him on the phone and that he can take care of anything I need. What I need is better customer service & to be treated with respect. I've never been treated so poorly from an auto shop. I usually go to Accurate Motorwerks, a BMW shop for my truck repairs. They give excellent customer service. I went to Mike's because my friend spoke so highly of the shop & their rates. I'm trying Mike once more in the morning then disputing it with my bank if I can't get him on the phone. read more

Horrible place to go. Unprofessional people , not interested in your business. I needed an estimate on an old commuter car and took my car in to Mikes. I had to track someone down to help me and they were not friendly at all. After all that they charged me over $60 for doing absolutely nothing to the car other than 10 minutes to say it needed an expensive valve job. Prior to my dad passing away we owned an auto repair shop for 30 years and if we would have done our business like this, we would have been out of business!!! i brought my car to them 3 weeks ago and it has been the most horrible experience i have ever had they promised to keep my parts for me and they only kept one of them completely destroyed kep me in the dark the entire time. and when I got the vehicle home i looked it over and there where several things where loose and they charged me a extremely high price. i would not recommend taking your car to them read more

I recently had a horrible experience with Mikes auto repair. I made an appointment on a Monday to get the Air Conditioner and brakes checked out on my vehicle. Dropped the car off first thing Monday AM. I asked Marty to call with an estimate. He did. I was told it would be $137 to put die & charge the system to check for leaks. Friday rolls around & no word from them. I called & Marty and he said it was ready. I paid them just under $500 for the work done. Got in the car and NO cold air. Rolled back in the garage and checked.I was told the compressor had to be replaced.It was 90+ that day. My ride had already left, so I had to drive it home. Marty told me to bring it back Wednesday. I brought it back to them first thing Wed. AM. Talked to Mike and told him there was a bad rattle on the passenger side of the vehicle. Later that day, I talked to Marty and he told me the ball joints should be replaced.I asked if that was the cause of the rattle. He said yes. I told them to go ahead and replace them. Seemed odd to me because the vehicle only had 55000 miles on it. Anyway, I called them the following Monday AM to see what the status was on the vehicle. Marty got real short with me and said they were real busy. At this point, it was day 10. He call me that afternoon and it was ready. Paid them Just under $1100.00 for the AC & Ball joints. Got in the car and the rattle is still there. I believe Mike is a good mechanic But, they should road test the vehicles before they return them to the customer! As for Marty, Well I can't say what I really think of him. He's like a politician....If his lips are moving, He's Not telling the truth! read more

Last job was a disaster. Had a few vehicles in with him and always had good service. Until there was a problem. My truck caught on fire after he worked on it. It was the brake system that caught fire and that he had just worked on. He never showed up to come look at it and wouldn't return calls. I won't be back. read more

Falling short on customer service big time. I feel insulted, disrespected, and jerked around. I don't have another driver at my house, so I need to either plan for someone to go with me or someone at Mike's needs to bring me back as there isn't a waiting room and I'm learning this place isn't fast. Mikes is actually out in a rural area outside Washougal, but my house is less than 10 minutes away.. Last week I had an 8am appointment to fix my truck, so by the time I got to Mikes and they brought me home again, I was a little late to work in Vancouver and had to work later in the evening. But I realized no one had called with the diagnosis or estimate of repairs. I called around 6 but Mike answered and said they hadn't even looked at it. First disappointment. Finally on Friday afternoon, they called and said it needed a part so I needed to come fetch the truck before they closed for the weekend and bring it back on Wednesday. I had to scramble to get a ride up there with a neighbor I hardly knew. Then I lined up a ride with a relative willing to come from Camas to drive me home on Wednesday morning. Fast forward Wednesday morning, I was starting to get the feeling Mikes is not terribly dependable and called to confirm. Sure enough, he hadn't bothered to call, but the part hadn't arrived so "don't bother coming. We'll call you." But two days later, Friday morning I get a message that the part has arrived. But I was on a day off in a kayak for the morning. En route home just before noon, Marty called asking if I could bring it right now. Since I hadn't had enough forewarning to line up a ride, he specifically said it was no problem to give me a ride home. I canceled my remaining day off plans and headed there, arriving no longer than 30 minutes since I had talked to him, but from there, it read like a bad sitcom Marty: "Oh, sorry, we don't have anyone available now who can drive you home. The guys who could drive you have already left for lunch. Too bad you missed them." I'm thinking: [Too bad? This wasn't my idea-- you told me to come. You couldn't ask them to wait since you knew I was on my way?] There were at least 3 staff still hanging around. Marty: "They aren't going to get to this today anyway, so you might as well bring it Monday.." I"m thinking: [What--you just now figured out the shop doesn't have time to fix it today?] Me: "Why did you tell me today?" Marty: "I thought you could get here sooner. Mike's kind of funny about his Friday afternoons." I'm thinking [Thirty minutes is not an unreasonable time when you give me zero notice. You just wasted my time, gas and effort. I'm "kind a funny" about my Friday afternoons too! This was supposed to be my day off and you kind of spoiled it. As for Monday? I'll be at work. I'm not so gullible as to take off more time or make more arrangements counting on Mike's Auto. The customer may not always be right, but the customer is the customer. This isn't the kind of treatment that has kept this business going for so many years with so many happy customers, but it sure needs to change if they expect to have customers in the future. . read more
