What a great find. I have had some bad luck with mechanics in the past. I had a new to me truck I needed to get a brake job done on, and I got a great price with Phillip. That's fantastic, but that is not what impressed me the most. After getting the truck back, I had a scary brake failure while towing. The brakes were toast. I took it back to Phillip's shop, and he discovered it was not the brake job that was gaukty, but the shoddy wiring someone did on the brake controller (previous owner). The controller wasn't even functioning properly. Phillip still warrantied the brakes for me and installed a brand new brake controller, and didn't charge me any labor. He just charged for the brake controller, which was more than fair. He didn't have to do any of that at all. I offered to pay, but he said he would rather have my business relationship than only have me come by once. He gives very detailed explanations of work performed and issues encountered. Very honest and informative. He even showed me every part he replaced and its condition so I could see the whole story. That earned him a lot of credibility with me as most mechanics don't offer their work under scrutiny voluntarily. read more

Phil can't be trusted, and I have evidence. If you drive anything high end, don't even come near his shop. I had a simple job for him to replace to heim joints on my front upper control arms. I brought him two replacements, and the noise I was experiencing went away. A few weeks later the noise came back and I reached out to Phil. He became evasive, hard to pin down, told me I needed to swap out my control arms completely. I went around in circles for weeks. Spent hundreds trying to diagnose the issue. "We had just replaced the heim joints, it must be something else right?" - I thought. Finally I ordered two new heim joints and took them to a shop I trust up north. When we pulled off the heim joints, I noticed that Phil had only replaced one of them, and not both as he was contracted to do, and told me he had done. It was easy to visually identify the original heim joint, as the hardware has a "metallic" treatment and the new design (which I brought to him) is all black. See the pictures. When I confronted Phil about this, he just blocked me. He can't be trusted, period. The guy is not a real mechanic in a legit shop, and I should never have taken my car to him in the first place. Posting this review here on Yelp - I posted it on Google reviews too, but I want to get the word out about Phill. He was a straight shooter and helped me when I was in a rough spot with my Subaru. I contacted Phill Kassab about a month ago to diagnose my Subaru Forester's mysterious problem with its electrical system and battery draining. While trying to identify what was causing my battery to consistently die after several days of sitting parked, I tried all the typical things. Firstly, I replaced the battery at shop in Portland after realizing its age and visible corrosion on its terminals. The car still died after two days of inactivity. Next, I brought the car to a local Subaru dealership. The mechanics at the dealership tested the battery and alternator and reported no issues. They assured me the car was in prime shape and had no identifiable electrical issues. However, the car died after two or three days of inactivity. The issue wasn't solved. Finally, I brought the car to Phil. After some investigation and testing, Phil identified that the new battery I'd recently installed was bad. He also searched for any parasitic electrical drain in the car and couldn't identify one, so we agreed that we'd replace the battery again and monitor the issue. Phil installed a new battery enclosure (as the one housing the battery was rusty and corroded) for free as a courtesy, which I appreciated. After a few days, the car still died - which, at this point, was an issue that multiple mechanics at three different garages (including the dealership) couldn't figure out. I brought the car back to Phil and he kept the vehicle for a few days, performing an even deeper investigation into the electrical system. He checked if an electrical draw was coming from the door locks, the radio, the window buttons, or any lights in the car. He again tested the battery and alternator. Nothing was identifiably wrong. This is where Phil proved his integrity and honesty as a mechanic and a businessman. Instead of charging me a penny for his labor hours, he installed a NEW battery again, absolutely free of charge, and asked me to report ANY future issue with the car - insisting that we'd continue to monitor and document the issue as a team, and that he'd happily investigate the problem further if the issue continued to arise. Phil could have charged me for the second battery and his multiple days of testing and labor, but didn't charge me a penny. This has secured me as a lifelong customer of his. My daughter's car had a bad wheel bearing that made it undriveable. The unlubricated metal to metal howl was deafening. I wasn't comfortable driving it to a shop. I called Phill late in the evening on Wednesday and on Thursday morning he showed up with his big truck o' tools and replaced both the front wheel bearings at my house. I should mention it was 25 degrees outside while he was working. We discussed all the options before the work took place and he provided an accurate estimate of the charges before beginning. I brought in my Mini Cooper after a road trip. The engine had a weird rattle. I stopped in downtown Camas at 6:15 last night which was Labor Day and Phill was in the shop working away. He had mentioned he had tight deadlines for 2 customers and wanted to make sure he got those done. He came out and diagnosed my car. Phil and his crew did excellent work doing an interior detail of my friend's car. The car is 18 years old. I'm thinking it may have never been detailed before it was so bad! He told me that to do the job correctly they were going to need to take out the seats. That added some to the cost but it was worth it! He also told me it was going to take at least three hours. I had a ran over something and broke my transmission pan and my tire was done for also.. anyways I called around and a lot of places wouldn't even touch my car since its a Volkswagen or were quoting me a crazy amount of money. Worst "mechanic," ever! I took me car in to get the catalytic converter replaced. At first Phill was extremely responsive and took the car in two days later. The engine light came on just over 120 miles after reconfirm the car back, so I took it in a second time and then a third and then a fourth. The problem was never fixed. Phill then tried to refer me to a 3rd party stating that they worked on the car and to contact them for the fix. I refused, stating that if he outsourced the services that's on him. I took my car to his shop and paid him, so he's responsible for all services and lack there of. I had to threaten legal action to receive a full refund. I'd beware as he's no mechanic. He'll detail your car, but outsources everything else. read more

We are so pleased with the detailing done to our Jeep! It was something we needed done quickly and they were willing to work with us even though we were out of town. We came home to a clean and safe Jeep. Is he a mechanic who will steal all your money just to tell you that your car sucks? No, no he will not. I got pulled over for having a headlight out and I drove straight to Phill's.
