Mike you the man! I'm new to the area and needed a haircut. My barber is in LBC, therefore didn't feel like making commute. The place was clean,and Mike was very respectful and prompt. The hair cuts are OK but not consistent. He's not that busy but it is better to call for an appointment. But he's getting money hungry. The price went from $12 to $16 to $20. The justification for the latest increase was that I have "long" hair. The longest part of my hair was just over 2 inches. That is long? Really? Visited Mike for the first time this last weekend and I was thoroughly happy with his cut. I just moved to Pasadena from the east coast a few weeks ago and tried Mike based on the excellent comments I found on Yelp. Mike is very polite and definitely does excellent work. I've been getting haircuts from Mike every two weeks for the last year. As long as I live in Pasadena he will be my barber. First of all, I've never had an issue with his haircuts. They're consistent and exactly what I describe to him. Sometimes I'll switch it up a little bit and he always gets it spot on. Every time I make an appointment, he's ready for me right on time even though he's very busy. Other than that he's a great guy who I have no problem giving my business to. My son had cut his own hair short, and it looked okay for a while but badly needed a professional cut when it started to grow out, especially after my son tried to trim it himself and messed it up so it needed a professional touch. I sent him to Mike's based on the reviews. Based on my son's feedback, here is what occurred: My son walked in and was greeted and seated promptly, Mike asked, "You want a haircut?" My son said he did. Mike commented on the amateur attempt at cutting it himself but he wasn't rude or unkind. There wasn't really any discussion of how my son wanted it cut. Mike didn't ask. My son didn't say more. The cut my son got was honestly mediocre. It was passable but not a precision, fashionable cut. Because our main objective was to get the messed up cut repaired and make my son look presentable, Mike served our needs well. It was fast, easy, efficient, and affordable. It was about $20. I doubt my son tipped as he's not used to buying his own cuts. So, I would recommend Mike for speed, efficiency, and location if you're in Pasadena. He was professional but not perfectionistic. Because haircuts can be very pricey in Pasadena for both men and women, this is probably a pretty good deal. If the cut had been more perfectionistic and more fashionable, I would have rated this a 5 because of the convenience and efficiency. However, there was nothing wrong with the cut. read more

My husband and I came here because we were looking for a new barber since my sister was unavailable to cut his hair ( she is a professional cosmetologist). So we looked on google and found that this place had good ratings... so we went to go give it a try. An older gentleman was there in the barber shop and no one else. I got pretty excited because it's been awhile since my husband had a haircut and I wanted to see him all groomed nicely as did he. We weren't greeted in a friendly manner. He seemed bothered when we came in while he was on his cellphone. The gentleman there was EXTREMELY awkward and wasnt too friendly. Whenever I go to a barber shop with my husband. We are used to the atmosphere that comes along with barbershops.. Friendly greeting, social atmosphere. This was none of that. When I asked to sit in a barber chair next to my husband that was empty (note that there was no one else in the shop other than me, my husband, and the barber) so I could talk to him a bit closer since I have bad vision as well. I didnt bring my glasses so I wanted to stay close so I could see my husbands haircut (since he always asks me to make sure it's going well). The man had said no due to the chair being "uncomfortable". Which me and my husband looked at each other like "what??"since they are salon chairs and they are meant to be comfortable for cutting hair. I guess he didn't want me to sit there and made some stupid excuse so I wouldn't. I was like "okkkkk?" It was the most uncomfortable awkward experience my husband has ever had in a barber shop. I was in shock because I thought to myself.. how can a place like this have such good ratings??!! I have never had anyone in a barber shop or salon deny me a seat next to my husband if there are no other clients. During my husbands haircut... the barber did not talk AT ALL. He was quiet the whole TIME AND DID NOT SOCIALIZE AT ALL WITH MY HUSBAND, not even to ask questions about his preference of haircut or if he was doing the right thing.. nothing.. Did not even say one word during the whole haircut. My husband told the barber that he usually goes with the barbers choice of haircut that suits him well. Hes the type of guy that will entrust a barber to make the right decision when it come to haircuts. We shortly regretted coming to this barbershop. He left so much hair on my husband.. I had never seen anyone leave so much hair on a person after a haircut. My husband wasnt pleased very much with the haircut. It was very basic and still alot of hair left on him. He did not leave clean cuts and the front was left very uneven. I couldn't see until we got to the car since I had to sit a bit far from him during the duration of the haircut. My husband had even mentioned to me that "it was the MOST awkward and worst haircut hes ever had". Honestly, the customer service sucked here for us. Maybe it was different for someone else.. I dont know. But we are never coming back here again. Needs to work on customer service and making the customer feel comfortable vs. Being socially awkward and uncomfortable. Also, giving decent haircuts. My husband and I are very observant/particular when it comes to customer service/communication of employees, since I worked in customer service for a long time. Mike was my barber for a little over a year. At first I really liked his service. He also charged a decent price. Used to be $14 for a haircut. Now it's like over $20 for a haircut which I get is still a pretty good price but I am certainly not paying it. Nice guy and all but the price increase was a little too much for me. So i'm going to give this very straight forward and simple, HAND DOWN BEST BARBER SHOP IN PASADENA. I'm being really honest here, was referred to go here by a neighbor who went to Mike a few times to get his hair cut, he cut different styles like Elvis and was very satisfied, basically I went here about 2 years ago to try it out because I wasn't really satisfied with my previous barbers, so I went the first time and explained the hair cut I had wanted to him but had never done it before, just a picture or idea in my head, when it was done I was shocked because it came out exactly the way I envisioned it in my head. I have been coming here for almost 2 years extremely satisfied, when you go to him just make sure to be extremely descriptive show him with your hands and be detailed how you want your haircut, I notice lot of people will go to a barber and give a bad description of what they want then blame the barber for their idiotic mistake, but anyways try him out this man is an expert in cutting hair and will give you the same exact cut everytime, unlike most BS barbers who slack off because they think your a regular and going to come again anyways, disregard all the negative comments, THIS MAN IS GOLDEN AT GROOMING HAIR! read more
