UPDATE 11/7/21 Hubby ordered from Chicken Holiday yesterday before I went to work for swing shift, so I would have something to eat for lunch- *** quick note- there is not a spot on the delivery receipt for you to write in a driver tip- so be sure to add it when you place your order, or have cash handy. Ordered the 18pc chicken bucket. Chicken was juicy and seasoned fine for us, and as a another side note: I always add Crystal's hot sauce to my fried chicken or catfish anyway. If there were negative stars I would give this place all negatives. Let's start with my "fried chicken bat" oh wait "breast." I thought I was ordering from chicken holiday, but this must be the non American version. The buffalo "chicken" breast sandwich had to be fake chicken or more bat breast. The mash potatoes . Needless to say this place is absolutely disgusting with tiny portions. I'm just praying I don't end up at the ER for taking a small bite out of the bat sandwich and mashed potatoes. Delicious juicy chicken, great tasting Cole slaw and great delivery! It's our Go To for chicken.

They use to have good French Fry's crinkle cuts now there nasty tasting plain fries yuck!!

We have lived in this area for 21 years and this is the first we've ordered, but not the last. We decided to do a "Staycation" this year and try local eateries we've heard of but had not tried We had the fried chicken & ribs with jalapeno poppers & mashed potatoes. I was unfamiliar with them so I might have ordered a tad too much--the portions are huge and we wound up having enough for two nights! The prices are very reasonable. We will be ordering again, there is so much more on the menu we can't wait to try! read more

NOTE: this place is called "Chicken Holiday AND GRILL" in Jackson NJ, don't get confused. This eatery allegedly caters to the Hispanic blue-collar population. The takeout menu comprises of Mexican dishes. But, my friend and I decided to eat good old American style deep-fried chicken and spareribs. We came home looking forward to having these treats, they were obnoxiously horrible, the chicken? 4 pcs $8.85? hell! We were better off going to Shop Rite or Walmart and get a WHOLE tasty chicken for 5. bucks, the ribs all three of them were a good size, $10.50 BUT! they were mostly fat and cooked in motor oil. Whoopee! we really feasted on their greasy french fries, Don't call me biased, I am a Mexican, I know the difference between good and bad food. Great food. Being Spanish I can say its hard to find a Spanish retira y that isn't exclusively Mexican. This place has a variety of Spanish foods. If you're from the South Jersey, Central Jersey and Jersey Shore areas you know of Chicken Holiday! They used to be the crown jewel of fried chicken places! Over the years many of the locations simply went away. Now I believe only a few locations remain and all of them are independently owned which is important to know, because as I've found out, their menus are slightly different and so are some of their side items especially the French fries. The fried chicken itself seems to be pretty consistent. This review is for the JACKSON TOWNSHIP location near the Lakewood border. The food is absolutely TERRIFIC!! It's the one location I feel has kept to is roots as far as ingredients & taste. The one thing that has changed is their French fries. The regular fries to me, are just NASTY. They're the fries that sort of have that crunchy skin loaded with salt. They taste like bad supermarket brand fries. The regular fries from back in the day at all the chicken holiday's were awesome! Don't know why that's changed over the ways. However, they have other fries options that can be substituted such as their waffle fries which are AWESOME! So with that, I can order really anything and combined be satisfied overall. I've ordered from their chicken to their ribs to their wings in the past and no complaints whatsoever. My biggest problem, and the only reason I didn't give this location more stars is the pricing. The owner definitely PRICE GOUGES. For instance, to substitute waffle fries (as I discussed above) instead of those gross regular fries, it's a hefty upcharge. Also, the owner charges customers a fee if you use a debit/credit card. He says, it's because visa & MasterCard has raised their fees, so he's simply passing it onto the customer!! WHO DOES THAT?!!! I just think that's an insult to the consumer to incur their operating costs like that. Raise the prices of the food to make up for increased operating costs or something, but to blatantly expect consumers to pay a fee to use a card is ridiculous. The prices of the menu items are a bit pricey enough but like I said, if you like quality chicken enough people will pay a little more so I'm even fine with what some others will claim this chicken holiday is too expensive. read more

Well, When I found out I was going to NJ on business I was so excited that I would once again be able to have some Chicken Holiday. I worked at the Lakehurst Navy base in the mid 90's and was lost when I found out that the nearest locations were closed. After finding the locations on the internet I was then trying to get one of our company cars to make that drive from Toms River. After making the drive I was disappointed. Time has passed and things change. When I spoke to the person on the phone he referred me to a chicken place in TR but I insisted to have the brand CHICKEN HOLIDAY and make that drive. Im sorry to say that I will not make that drive again and the 4th star is only because the man on the phone was nice enough to refer me to a similar restaurant. We have been buying from chicken holiday for 40+ years. Call tonight to place an order get jerked around. First off several minutes to decide if you can deliver to us even after saying you've delivered many times. Then the guy that answered the phone asks how much the order going to be cause minimum order is $30 bucks. Since when? At that point I told my wife to just hang up. Being that my best friend growing up worked in a Chicken Holiday in NY when we were kids we had to stop here coming home from a road trip and being lost coming home from Six Flags. The chicken actually tasted the same as the one back home and for the most part the chicken was good and tasty. Roadside atmosphere made it even better, overall a fun time when you should be passing by. read more

I think this is the Chicken Holiday located near Top Gun Paintball Games and Six Flags. My friends and I ate here during a lunch break in between paintball games, and we enjoyed our assortment of burgers, chicken, and bbq. Portions are pretty big. I liked the fries. The roadside picnic tables really added some character to our lunch. read more

Walked in and the air was thick with fryer grease. I not only could taste it, but I could feel it in my lungs. Worst chicken I've ever had. Took one bite and it tasted like fish. I think they used the same oil for both their chicken and seafood items. Gross! Never going back. read more

Wow, does this place bring back memories. I ALWAYS stopped here on my way back from Six Flags. I had the pleasure of eating at Chicken Holiday again, at least ten years since my last visit, and it is just as amazing as i remember! For those with weak stomachs, i do not advise going though. We order from this Chicken Holiday at least once a month or every other month. They have the best Chicken and Sweet potato Fries . They also have good BBQ Chicken as well. Def recommend them for there Potato salad, or Macaroni Salad. Better then the other Chicken places in Jackson. read more

I only really order the buffalo wings from here. they are some of the closest buffalo wings to western NY (Buffalo/Rochester) that I have found in NJ. Decent sized wings, sauce is good. Their other food is decent, but I don't go there for that. read more

The chicken is really good and tasty, their wings are equally as good. Service is relatively fast depending on what your ordering. The menu has a few different meal options and a few different family options. I ordered from this place for most of the NFL playoffs and they did not disappoint. I did however spend quite a bit of money in doing so as their food is a bit pricey. But i come to expect that from any chicken joint. The staff here is always nice as well. Would recommend. read more
