I only spent about eight dollars in Mike's comics, which is honestly pretty exciting because normally I spend or are used to spend a lot of money when I would get stuff for my boyfriend. I haven't actually been here since my boyfriend and I broke up; however, I was in the area at beauty master and I decided to stop and see what they had and I'm so happy I stopped. I spoke to Gabe at the counter when he rang me up all the opened Funko's or four dollars so I snagged Mr. Oogie boogie. I will be cleaning him up and dusting him off and then I will be bedazzling him. Most of the comics I got besides from the two dollar comic were $.50 apiece and then he also bagged them up and put a paper backs in them as well for me. They sell them for I think $.15 apiece for the bags in the bags; they also own the store next-door, which is called last pack magic it is a trading card game store. If you are ever in the area, Mike's comics and collectibles has a wonderful selection of $.50 comics as well as comics that come out now I highly recommend stopping here. I visited a few comic shops in the area in my vacation and wasn't big on this one. More collectibles than comics which is fine but not many comics. If you're going to have back issues or comics at all I behoove stores to have them bagged and boarded nice as it makes me as a customer more likely to buy. It has another side for Pokémon cards and stuff too. read more

Great shop! Lots of comics and collectibles like Funko and Loungefly. They even had a box of loose Funko for $5. Service was friendly. I was offered an earlier release of a comic which I thought was helpful because I wasn't sure how many came out in this series yet. Prices seemed fair which I know at other shops can be a problem with figures. Definitely would return. Check it out. read more

A small, underwhelming store with toys, collectibles, and paperback collections. I came in search of back issues and found maybe 12 boxes worth, each stickered with a price more than the cover notes. They were well organized, so I'll give them that, but I didn't find any of the 7 back issue series I was on the hunt for. There was a single, unhelpful sales rep watching Rick and Morty at the front of the store who neither greeted me nor asked me if I needed help, let alone acknowledged me until I dropped a stack of books on the counter. I stopped by the day after free comic book day, so maybe this had something to do with the terrible service? But in any case, I'll return to Coliseum next time. read more

Great spot to pick up comics and collectibles. Found a few hard to find Funko pops and comics I had been looking for

mikes is a nice little shop over by the Florida Mall. Don't let the size of the shop deceive you, for there's more inventory in the back that is not out in the main area. So if you are looking for something specifically, call ahead and they can check their back area and store inventory for you. When you do walk in, you see the organization and variety of collectibles that can excite any fan. If you're strictly looking for back issues and key issues, you might be underwhelmed, but from an overall pop culture store, Mike's is solid. If you're in town and doing the tourist mall thing, head on over to Mikes for they might have an item that you didn't think you wanted. read more

Respect, baby. Anyone who cannot find JOY visiting a comic book store cannot expect to stay in my good graces. Today is May 6th - Free Comic Book Day - and I just happened to be nearby at The Florida Mall. After a quick Yelp search, I found I was moments away from Mike's. Upon arrival, I found their free comics perfectly displayed outside; 3 per customer which I found totally fair. They even had some leftovers from last year's event which is how I got my Batman: Rebirth copy. Score! The inside of the store is small but they make good use of the space, geared more towards statues, action figures and those Pop dolls that are so popular they warrant 1/2 the wall display. The smaller New Arrival, back issue, and graphic novel sections are enough to entertain the "old school" comic lovers but I also found the staff very helpful and literally exclaiming "cool!" as I left. Located in the small plaza that once housed the longstanding Bad Apple Comics. This little comic book oasis resides just across Orange Blossom Trail from Toys'R'Us, neighbors a great Middle Eastern cafe, a Chewy's boba tea shop, AND just a stone's throw away from the almighty Izziban Sushi. The staff are nothing short of fantastic, incredibly knowledgeable and willing to go out of their way to help you every chance they can. Their prices are reasonable, with recent back issues still at cover price. Unlike most of the other major stores, who bag it and bump it up a buck as soon as the week ends. Alongside keeping up to tabs with major and minor league comic book titles, they always have a huge selection of toys, magazines, statues and other goodies constantly updating every week. With sales and deals popping up during holidays, they're always willing to order in whatever you'd like as soon as they can nab it. If you're just as sick as I am, going into your usual comic shop and talking to some guy who sneers at your purchases, rolling their eyes every time you ask a question or making you feel like you're having to pay for their already short attention span. Run over to Mike's, get that breath of fresh, ink-laden air, and feel welcome to get your nerd on for a change! read more

Mike must be a millionaire because this is the largest in-store stock of sixth scale figures I've ever seen. At a minimum of $200 each, that's the only explanation as to how he's able to keep those stocked by the hundreds. I know there's a lot of demand for them but I can't see them being sold on a regular basis. Then again, even with Sideshow's detailed pictures of each figure, it hold no comparison to actually seeing it in person or even holding it in your hands before you buy it. They also have the largest Marvel Select action figures selection as well. Rather than the most recent three or four like Acme, Mike seems to have the couple years worth of releases in stock. Plenty of other more recent action figures too like the Walking Dead, Movie Maniacs, DC Universe and much much more. Which is good because I get tired of walking in a shop and seeing the same old Spawn figures from the 90's that absolutely no one wants. Plenty of other collectibles too... statues, bobble heads, comics, trade paperbacks, etc.. They actually have almost the exact same set-up as Bad Apple Comics did when they were here. Which brings up the question, if Bad Apple Comics couldn't do enough business at this location, why does Mike think he can do any better? Since I'm not from the area I don't know much about the community. Maybe Mike has built up a better customer base. There was only one employee working there when I stopped in and she did not greet me or even acknowledge my presence. I waited at the counter for her to look up and eventually just asked if I could use the bathroom. "We don't have a customer bathroom," she told me. So I ended up going to Subway a couple stores down. By the time I got back there was a guy at the counter playing with a figure he pre-ordered the entire time I was looking around. There was a few people behind him looking to buy a few things and were in for a long wait. The wait and the very unhelpful employee prevented me from buying anything. The store itself is an easy five star rating. But thanks to this employee and not having a customer restroom knocked it down a notch. I'll definitely be back in the future next time I'm in the area. Great comic shop, seems to have more of an emphasis on statues and collectibles than comics, but that's not a bad thing - just depends what your main interest is. A MASSIVE selection of Pop Vinyl figures - literally hundreds. Personally, I would have liked to have seen some more games, but again, that's my own preference. Lots of stock here too - probably less than half the size of Coliseum of Comics, but just as much stuff! Friendly atmosphere, tidy and welcoming. read more

I 'meant to write this review about 6 months ago or so when I actually went to Mike's...but totally spaced on doing so. Very much enjoyed the store...I walked around twice to make sure I didn't miss anything because everything was well spread out and I easily could have spent much more than I did... Would like to go back soon but I'm rarely in the area and can't drive over just to go toy shopping...If I'm ever close by I will most definitely stop in again.... I've been a fan of comics for a long time. My Grandfather passed on to me a very large and well kept collection. He also schooled me in the art of caring, maintaining and growing the collection. Part of caring for the collection is having a network of comic book professionals in the area that can be leveraged to help procure the hard to get items. Most comic book store owners and their employees have as an honest love for the industry they work in. This was not the case at Mike's Comics & Collectibles. I went there because of a post from Zack R. from St Cloud. He was trashing one store and its employees in Kissimmee and minutes later posting overtures for Mike's. I decided to visit Mike's to see first hand their golden status as ranted by Zack R. What I found quite the opposite. I hope it was just a bad day for the one and only person working there at that time. He could not pull himself off the phone to answer some questions and seemed very irritated that I kept coming back to the counter every few minutes to see if he may be wrapping up his personal business to provide help. After 9 minuets I left. I will return once more to see if it was a fluke and will write another post at that time. It has also occured to me that Zack R. is using this site to bolster one place of business while harming its competitors. I do hope this Zack R. from St Cloud is in no way affiliated with Mike's Comics & Collectibles and is just a overzealous customer. read more

Place is very small, cramped. Very limited number of trade paperback comics. Some recent single issues with variant covers cost more. And the people their are completely clueless and seem extremely pissed of whenever u ask them anything, most their responses were its sold out or look for it by yourself. I would completely avoid this store unless you live nearby and just want this weeks single issue releases there is no reason to go there. You'll have a much better time at coliseum comics with the larger selection and much more helpful and friendlier staff. read more

I am writing this review as a collector of action figures. I have long been a patron of Mike's Comics -- even having frequented the joint when it was Bad Apple. I'll do my best to be objective. The pros: - Great selection - Usually keeps inventory current and fresh The cons: - Hit or miss when it comes to friendly, welcoming atmosphere - Prices I used to shop at Mike's back when it was Bad Apple. One great thing about the change in management is that the selection of action figures (my nerd poison of choice) has more than doubled. On top of that, I can usually expect to find current figures in fairly good numbers. In that regard, Mike's Comics is easily the best choice in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. It's elsewhere that Mike's could use some improvements. This isn't the worst comic store I have ever been to in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. In fact, I much prefer it to Coliseum of Comics -- if only because their selection of action figures trumps CC's by a country mile. There are just a few things that keep it from getting a better rating. I don't often feel welcome upon entering the store, especially if/when I don't purchase something. Bad Apple's staff was always super friendly and engaged in small talk virtually every time I visited. This isn't the case any more. I get a greeting, and I get a farewell. End of story. Often times, I feel as if I am more of a bother to the staff, specifically the manager/owner. It's to the point that I cross my fingers that he isn't working when I visit. On top of that, several of the figures (but certainly not all) carry too hefty a price tag. Some of the Marvel Universe and Star Wars figures suffer from ridiculous markups, even by secondary market standards. If I can get a fair price on such small figures at stores like Midtown Comics or Forbidden Planet, why not at a smaller outfit in a much less expensive city? To be fair, I have witnessed the manager negotiate prices with customers... but I don't have the time, nor the energy, for that. Prices should be fair from the outset. I'm trying to enjoy my hobby, not put in a full day's work of going back-and-forth just to reach a suitable price-point on my purchase. Haggling is a practice out of the dark ages, and there's no need/want for that kind of customer service in today's marketplace. If you're looking for the most current action figures, and you aren't having any luck at the big box retailers, Mike's is definitely the place to check. My only word of caution: Don't expect to walk out of there feeling as though you got a fair deal 100% of the time. read more
