I take my 2010 Hyundai Accent here for inspections and routine maintenance, such as oil changes and brake installation. My car is out of warranty, so going to the dealer is not economically wise due to the markups. Ronk's prices are competitive with but is more affordable than the dealer's. Above all, Mike is honest and stands by his work. For example, in the Fall of 2018, Ronk replaced my brakes and rotors. This Spring, my brakes squeaked consistently during the rain, and Mike inspected them and explained that the brakes are good and function well; and that sometimes they squeak when constantly wet. He is certainly right because it is summer now, and my brakes no longer make noise. Lastly, Mike the owner is friendly and jovial. His customers and employees enjoy his jokes and outgoing personality. I highly recommend Ronk Auto for your routine maintenance needs. read more

Don't know what happened to this place. They started out great years ago. I had high hopes for them. Suddenly and drastically, the went downhill fast. Receptionist is worthless with her appointment keeping and the owner has one of the worst attitudes I've ever seen. Napoleon syndrome at its best. Had an appointment and showed up early. Waited 20 mins past the scheduled time. Politely ask the receptionist, who was clearly in a piss poor mood, to see if I'll be getting in soon. Comes back with the dweeb of an owner, who obviously lost all of his business and social skills, who basically tells me, "Too bad your appointment time won't be kept. I have other more important stuff to do"+ It's a shame. My 1st time here was great. Unfortunately, they've gone so far downhill, with the staff, service and cleanliness that I'm looking forward to seeing the inevitable. "Space for rent" sign on the window. read more

Auto repair. I was pointed to this place by another shop in the area when my brand new tires picked up a screw - apparently I always manage to purchase magnetic tires. The Ronk (short for Ronkonkoma) is one of those places I have passed a million times but never really looked at it until I was in dire need of a quick tire repair. The girls at the front desk are quick and efficient and had my info and keys in minutes and pointed me to the waiting room. The waiting area was fine enough- TV on, some magazines and a scattering of different seats to get you through the wait - they had my car in the shop within a few minutes and back out to me shortly thereafter. The cost to fix the tire was about average - but I really loved the fact that many of the customers seemed to be repeat customers - the girls at the desk seemed to know many of the people by name. Only just started coming here for a tire pressure light, he reset it for me after being thorough with checking my tires and did it super quick! Unfortunately it did come back on and when I came back in for a follow up he wanted to make sure it wasn't a sensor issue and double checked my tires, filled them up and fixed my light. I really appreciate a place like this that doesn't try to rip people off. Time and time again I go to places that try to take advantage and he could've easily told me I needed to replace the sensor and charged me more. But instead, he managed to fix my light and didn't charge me since I was there the previous week. Good work, very efficient and super fair. I highly recommend this place! Bad experience. Brought my car here because the car was drifting slightly to the right. After a $100+ realignment that I asked to only have done if needed, I was told "the alignment really wasn't bad." Worse still, when I pulled out of the shop, the car was immediately drifting even more aggressively in the other direction. I called to complain and was told that the tire rotation that I had done (along with the realignment) could be to blame and they'd be willing to rotate the tires from side to side but that was all they could do. A tire rotation to fix the same issue I just paid over $100 for? And if that doesn't work, there's nothing else you can do? I wish Ronk would have had some integrity and told me to just start by trying the $15 tire rotation before diving into the $100+ realignment that made matters worse, if my alignment was already pretty good and the tires had such uneven wear. The bottom line is that I paid for a service that did not fix the problem. If you'd like to make things right, either fix the problem or give me my money back. Seriously, what I like is that they're knowledgeable, honest, and even on my first visit there, they treated me like I was a regular. To say they went above and beyond for me is an understatement! It's hard bringing your car to a new mechanic. There's always that voice in your head wondering if you are going to get a fair deal, or if the person is just going to sell you up the river telling you everything in your car is broken and it'll be 1 million dollars to fix. I found this place on Yelp, and I'm glad I listened to the reviews from previous customers. I had a wonderful experience with Ronk Service, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs a repair done. A bit of background for my situation: My brother, who is a mechanic, and I replaced the clutch in my 2004 Hyundai Elantra about 4 or so months ago. I couldn't afford the repair, and he said he'd be willing to give it a shot with me, so we did. Unfortunately, before we figured out a few necessary tricks to separate the transmission and the engine, the jostling we did with the engine ended up cracking the flex pipe underneath. Since it wasn't major, just loud and annoying, I let it go. My brother didn't have any welding tools, and it wasn't something he felt comfortable fixing anyway. The new clutch was great, but shifting was somewhat annoying as the RPMs dropped quickly due to the muffler hole. I didn't realize how much it affected the driving experience, but I lived with it. I brought the car to Ronk Service, and the office and Mike the mechanic were extremely communicative and were fantastic about educating me about the exact issues in my car. There were other things wrong that I asked them to take a look at, but NEVER was I pressured into requesting a service I couldn't really afford. After talking all the issues over with Mike, we decided just to focus on the muffler for now, and my brother and I would attempt some of the lesser repairs ourselves. I just picked my car up...and WOW. Driving this thing is a night and day difference. Now the clutch shifts like butter, I'm not struggling with over revving just to account for the fast drop as soon as I let off the gas, and the car is QUIET. Not to mention the MPG are back to where they used to be (around or north of 30MPG as opposed to the 25 I was getting with the broken muffler) and the acceleration is much much better than it was before. I really like this shop. I had to tow my old train car here and of course was nervous about what could be wrong with it. The owner called me up and gave me a very fair price to fix it. The repairs were done the same day I towed it and by lunch no less. Just also brought a car by for an inspection and was able to call that morning and was done by 9am. Over heard the owner speaking w an older woman regarding her repairs and was actually giving her advice rather than convincing her to do repairs that may or may not result in a positive result. Great shop full of great people. Fantastic customer service, even when they were extremely busy. Most importantly- they are honest and kind people... I am from out of town and do not know as much about my car as I should... Could have very easily been "given the runaround" by these guys about prices, replacements, parts, etc. Instead they ran a diagnostic test, pinpointed the problem under the hood, and recommended they clean the part causing the problem instead of replace it. My car is running great now and they saved me over $200 on the part. Says A LOT about a business when they have the chance to make a buck off of you and your inexperience but instead they fix your problem and teach you a thing or two about your vehicle.
