A better than decent breakfast joint on the east side. We were greeted right away on a busy Sunday morning, and were offered the choice of a table in the front sunroom or we could have waited for a table in the nicer decorated area deeper in the cafe. Not being picky we took the front table. Out server was friendly and greeted us with a smile. I ordered 2 poached eggs with corned beef hash. The hash was fresh and homemade, and was a very generous portion paired with 2 perfectly poached eggs on top. The dish came with your choice of toast and home fries. Toast is toast, but was glad they had multiple jellies available for the toast. The home fries were fine, although appeared to have been the frozen variety you throw in the fryolator. Like the hash, the home fries came in a big portion. Prices were very, very reasonable. All in all this is a very good take, and I'll be back for sure. This is one of my favorite breakfast places. The homefries are better than most breakfast joints. They're more like friendlies homefries. But the best thing on the menu is the chicken parm sub. Its the best chicken parm sub you can get in the area, its amazing, and I even ask for it during breakfast and the waiter lets me get it. He is a cool guy. Anyway, I get the chicken parm and the homefries and I'm a happy man. Sidenote: Dont get the pancakes though. They taste like birthday cake. There was only 1 good breakfast place in Brockton until Mikos opened. The staff is very friendly and greet you right away. You can choose where you sit and they bring a menu and coffee over right away. The menu is full of combos that have different varieties of options in them but I stick with my linguica and cheese omelette. The egg is cooked so perfect with the right amount of American cheese and sausage. They take your orders with an IPod POS so don't think they are playing on their phones at the table. Juices are served in sealed bottles and maple syrup is as well. There is no chance of contamination or tampering. It is a cash only place even with their fancy POS but luckily there is an ATM right next to the front door. Big parties are welcome or sit at the breakfast bar if you are looking for a quick good bite alone. read more

Though they do offer egg whites as an option for the health-conscious, the menu was not creative. They were about 1-2 dollars more for dishes at Alexanders further down the road. They didn't give alot of food and it wasn't piping hot when it arrived to the table as Alexander's always is. There also wan't much flavor to the home fries. Waited over an hour for our food, as waitress was delivered to three parties that were seated after us I finally spoke up and asked if they forgot about us, waitress said let me check on your food. I went with my Mom and my nephew. The waitress was not attentive at all. She brought the drinks, I asked for napkins that I never saw. And then we waited for 10 minutes for her to take our order, but she never came. She was very busy talking to another waitress. Then she took the order of 2 ladies that came 5 minutes after us. I spent the whole time looking at her waiting for her to make eye contact to let her know we were ready. Then she went outside to do I don't know what. I went to see if I could see a manager there was no one around. That's when we decided to leave. Thank goodness we didn't touch the drinks and left everything on the table. She had the nerve to follow me outside and tell me she had to charge me for the drinks. I said I'm sorry we didn't even touch them and we were waiting for too long. Now if you've been there (I have before) you know that on Saturdays is always full of people. So I'd understand if that was the case. But the customers could be counted with my hands. There were only 3 tables with people at the time we walked in and they were all finishing up. We went down the street to Alexander's. It was packed as usual because of the great service! The food came out hot and well presented. The homefries were crispy and well seasoned. The omelettes were packed and the ingredients evenly distributed throughout for optimal egg-to-filling ratio. The portions were decent and filling. We got refills for our coffees. They have your basic condiments at the table (ketchup, salt, pepper, and an assortment of Smuckers jellies). Terrible. We'll never come back to Miko's. Freezing cold inside the restaurant to start with. Only 1/4 of the tables occupied (should have turned and run immediately). No obvious sign (except the small print on the menu) that it's a cash only place. The server was nice but not terribly helpful. The food....unimaginative. The veggies in the omelet were from frozen. That "egg envelope" they pass of as an omelet makes me wonder where they're hiding the third egg in the 3-egg omelet. The "broccoli" was stems and pieces, not a single floret to be found. The french toast...are you kidding me? I could have made that in my kitchen with one egg and two slices of Wonderbread. Hungry drivers, keep on driving and go to the nearest Dunkin' Donuts.
