This is a cute and cozy breakfast and lunch spot. The staff are very friendly and quick to take your food order and bring you your beverage. There were two of us, we both chose omelettes, a Spanish for my husband and a cheese for me. They were both delicious and arrived piping hot with home fries and toast. I have to rave about the toast because it was actually toasted perfectly. I find many places the toast is not good, I think it gets wilted while waiting on the plate. But Skillet knows how to serve it right! The omelettes were generous, and we both had to take some home. It was just aa good for dinner. The prices were very reasonable and I can't wait to go back. My friends and I ventured out of the city and decided to stop by Skillet for brunch. Sometimes it's refreshing seeing how much cheaper restaurants can be if you just drive a few towns away. Can't beat the portions either We tried a few classic options, which were all delicious. The vibes at Skillet were perfect - a bit old timey and classic. The service matched the vibes too. It's one of those places where you would expect the waitress to call you by some kind of endearing nickname. I wanted to have breakfast out and decided to try Skillet based on Yelp reviews, it may have been the wrong idea. The restaurant is small but cozy, and the staff is somewhat attentive. I dined with my niece and her 3 year old son who was loud a lot of the time. I ordered a spinach omelette with tomatoes and light cheese; it came with potatoes. Also, a small shack of pancakes to share. My niece had hard fried eggs, potatoes and toast. My nephew had a burger and fries. He maybe 3, but knows when something tastes good or not. The burger didn't look right, he didn't want to eat it so we sent it back. We kept the fries and ordered him fried boneless chicken breasts, he took one bite and said yum. My food wasn't good, after a few bites of the omelette and hard potatoes, I stopped eating it. I should have sent it back for the fried chicken breast with fries. It was a total waste of money. My niece felt the same about her meal as well. We both shared the pancakes, they were spongy and hard to cut through but the taste was fine. My niece gave up on trying to cut and eat the pancake. I recommend coming here for the fried boneless chicken breast with fries. It was really good. This is a small local business which is what I like to support. read more

Came here to meet a friend for a super early morning breakfast before work! Loved that their hours were conducive for that. The waitress was very friendly and patient and made sure to check on us multiple times as we were catching up. It has a very old school local diner feel on the inside which added to the charm. I love this place. I'm so glad it's here. There was a great breakfast place here before Skillet and when they left, I was so disappointed, but not anymore! Skillet has filled that void for me and then some... They have a modern-diner vibe but old-school classic breakfast food, which is my favorite. I always get the comfort plate with eggs over easy, pancakes, bacon and wheat toast. The pancakes are always HUGE and fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly and I want to give a special shout-out to the home fries - some of the best I've ever had!! Real rough-chopped potatoes that are well seasoned and almost charred on the outside but soft and light on the inside. The char gives them great flavor in my opinion. I feel safe eating here for the COVID protocols they have in place: plastic utensils and silverware make for safe one-time use. Skillet is a busy place that has some great breakfast food. I'm a standard eggs, bacon, toast, home fries and coffee guy, and Skillet has these things locked-down delicious! My wife had an omelette that they made to her dietary specs, and it was delicious as well. Everyone from the owner to the busboy is friendly and attentive, checking in with us for coffee refills as we ate our breakfast. I am glad The Mad Hatter is still around, and even more so, I am glad the little hideaway that housed it wasn't turned into luxury condos, but instead was made into another cute breakfast spot. I can definitely see it becoming a local dive/haunt that we won't let become luxury condos. I ordered the Irish Soda Bread French Toast with a side of bacon. I found the French Toast lackluster. Consistency-wise, it was the same throughout, no crispness on the outside and gooeyness on the inside. Furthermore, with the use of soda-bread, I was hoping for a unique texture or flavor... if it was there, it didn't make itself known. Also, the portion of Soda Bread French toast was surprisingly small. I mean, I know the menu said there would only be two slices, what it didn't say was that I'd get a plate fit to be a kid's meal. For the record: I don't believe in huge portions for huge portions' sake. Still, I don't want to get a plate and be thinking "wait, that's it?" It would be a different story if we were talking about a dégustation menu. Then there's the bacon... yikes man! I like bacon a little bit on the crispy side, but this stuff came out burnt. If I'd made a special request, like "and make it crispy!" I would understand, but no such request was made. Coffee was solid, diner-grade stuff, except of one thing: They had Irish Creme flavored coffee, which I remembered a have a mild weakness for. It was awesome, especially for a place like this. Sure, it not the caliber of a roastery like Red-Eye or Stumptown, but everything is relative. Finally, the service was superb! Literally a "Shangri - La of Extreme Happiness" and amazing food. I was literally blown away from start to finish. What a great experience! My daughter told me about it sometime ago and said that we have to go. She said she goes so much that they know her when she comes now. She wasn't lying one bit. Right across the street from the plaza on the right coming from route 3 they are nestled. Nice, homey, wonderful! Once you're greeted as you walk in (outside seating is available) you're literally on a ride. Not even minutes after we were seated, no lie I want to say at least 4 friendly waitstaff stopped by to see if our drinks were ordered. No exaggeration. The food was all amazing. Hot and fresh....and fast to boot. Not a long wait at all. Just hung out paitently and enjoyed some of the best flavored coffee I ever had....no seriously!!! This place is amazing! Me and my dad went here once and couldn't stop coming. The food is amazing, and the wait time is very fast: Everytime I go, I get a Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich on a croissant and a side of sausages, and they can't perfect it any more! The service is also really good. They bring out the food fast, the waitress is very friendly and kind. There's no more to say. The ambiance is very cozy and warm. It's got that 1970's diner style. I was in the South Shore today and needed a quick breakfast and Skillet Café met that need like a trip to Dunkin. The restaurant is fairly easy to get to right of Route 3 on Main St in Weymouth. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Croque Madame and corned beef hash. The Croque Madame was made with a house bread called "biscuit bread" which tasted a bit like a thick pancake. The béchamel was good bit I missed the taste of Gruyère, they used Swiss. All in all it was a good sandwich, it would have gotten more points with me if my egg yoke was runny. The home fries were undercooked in spots and soggy. The corn beef hash was not worth swallowing. Both remained uneaten. I should have known I would be disappointed when everything was served in disposable dishes. How hard is it to get some home fries that are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside in these parts?! Overall this was a two star experience. I won't be back in a hurry. . read more

We stopped here on a whim and it was one of the best breakfast experiences we have ever had. This may be the most sincere and heartfelt review I have ever left. Entering this local "hole in the wall," is like coming home. There are two amazing women, identical twins, who are warm, welcoming and attentive. One of them gave my son her necklace, and took every opportunity to make him feel special. On the way out they gave the adults complimentary to go coffees and my son a lollipop for the road. We stopped there on July 4th, was glad they were open, inn or easy to NH. The places is small but was able to accommodate quite a few tables inside and there were some outside. Overall I wasn't incredibly impressed but it was during COVID and they were able to accommodate our party during a busy Saturday morning. The restaurant is pretty small and cozy inside and it seemed like a "locals" type place to me. I was in the mood for a sweet breakfast so I got the coffeecake french toast and one of the flavored iced coffees. The french toast was good but I wasn't totally prepared for the amount of brown sugar that was piled right on top. Overall it was tasty but a little overly sweet (maybe just my mistake in ordering). Also not sure if this was a temporary measure during the pandemic but the plates and cutlery were all disposable, even the coffee came in a to-go cup with a lid and a straw. We had the option of doing 1 or 2 eggs, and also i liked the pick of how the bagel was done, either toasted or grilled. Not many places like to grill bagels so i was pleasantly surprised!
